BAZ Restaurant in Wijk 15 Kogerveldwijk

Yesterday we ate at BAZ in a rather empty restaurant. It was Friday night, but despite the limited menu, one of our dishes was unavailable, and others had to be served with butter bread. Fortunately, we were served by a friendly guy who was easy to get angry with.

Pretty restaurant, but that was the only positive thing about the visit. We sat down around 14.00 and ordered just a few plates at 14.15 (with half of the stuff we wanted from the menu not being available), only for the food to arrive 40 minutes later - mind, it was literally just us and another table, the place was empty. Worst thing, after such a long wait, the dumplings were basically still frozen inside and had to be sent back. The vegan Bao was okaish, but nothing amazing. The staff apologized and explained they were left alone with no kitchen staff behind, so had to do it themselves - appreciate the effort, but I’d have rather closed the kitchen at that point and sent us somewhere else. A person from the staff was also seen multiple times using the phone while in the kitchen preparing the food and putting it on the kitchen counter, not the most hygienic thing. Unfortunately, cannot recommend.

Great relaxed atmosphere, great bouldering and great food. What else do you need.

From the terrace you have a beautiful view of the Zaan and the village of Koog aan de Zaan on the other side. The beers are tasty and the food is fine, although there is not much choice. The price is fine. We still miss the French chef who cooked the stars from heaven, but she fits better in a star restaurant than in an eatery. After that it was much less visited. However, it is still a golden spot, so the run will return soon if the weather is good. The accompanying bouldering hall is of course also nice.

BAZ is a fantastic place and definitely a 10/10! The food is delicious, with attention to every detail – you can taste the passion in every bite. The atmosphere is great, and the service is top notch: friendly, attentive and professional. What really makes this place special are the people. These are true enthusiasts with a passion for what they do. They take the time to talk to customers, are hospitable and create a warm, inviting atmosphere. The menu is not very extensive, and that is a plus! This guarantees that everything you order is prepared to perfection and tastes simply delicious. The portions are just right - you certainly won't leave here hungry. The price-quality ratio is simply perfect. Not only do you get fantastic food here, but you also get a great experience. An absolute must for anyone who likes good food and a nice atmosphere! And the boulders? Great trays and super nice people – really a place you'll want to come back to!

Nice atmosphere! Friendly staff! Really delicious burgers and bites! We just had to wait a very long time for the burger... 2 hours! It was worth the wait but I hope more staff is deployed! Now there was 1 person in the kitchen and 1 in service! Very unfortunate

Not five star unfortunately. I've given up. Last visit on a warm Thursday afternoon, terrace was open but was not actually possible: No cushions on the sofas, the only staff member was not seen after 1 drink. Out of ice cream, dirty toilet. Too bad, we saw the potential because of the sunny location and different than usual, but this apparently does not work in the Zaan region. An update following the last visit. Delicious lunch from the new menu, the chef came to report some details after ordering, great. Surprising dishes with quality ingredients. Service is still in development, we are confident that it will turn out well.

It is a place for climbers and boulders, which shares a restaurant and a terrace overlooking the canal with spectacular views. The waitress is very attentive and friendly but they lack a little Spanish or the menu in Spanish. The food very good. It cost us €31

Small menu with different burgers and bites. If you come for a real meal, you should order a few bites. But they are also very tasty! Well seasoned and tasty. The BAZ hamburger also tasted very good. It is possible to eat vegan. There are several vegan bites on the menu. The atmosphere at BAZ is relaxed and friendly. The terrace on the Zaan is a great place to sit. But it is also pleasant to sit inside. It's fun to take a look at the people who are bouldering. Great place for a snack and drink! .

A lot of money for fries that are fried for too long.

Lovely sultry evening on a top terrace on the water in the sun. Great service from cheerful people who understand how it works, good food and a good atmosphere. Boats, people swimming in the Zaan. As a summer evening should be. An asset in 't Saentje!

Last night I had a burger at BAZ with my brother-in-law. Both had serious gastrointestinal complaints consistent with food poisoning that same night. Given no contact for days before, another cause such as a virus or something similar is unlikely. Friendly boy in service. A nice place on the water, especially when the weather is nice.

It’s still a cool place, with friendly staff. Unfortunately, the menu is very much reduced and the food, which was once very good, is now very average and I can’t recommend it. (As of may 2024)

For 18 euro burger , bread should be perfect. Over baked brioche bun, sad for that price

Very bad service. After the order had been placed, the waitress came to tell us that the order had not gone through to the kitchen properly. Can happen of course. After “our” food was served, the waitress asked if I had also ordered something…. Mistake #2. Another half hour later we were told that my order had again not reached the kitchen properly. This is mistake number 3. Very sloppy. We spent a total of 1.5 hours there. So we will never come here again.

Too bad, I wanted to eat here for the first time with a friend, but I thought waiting 30 minutes for our drinks was ridiculous, while I could count the visitors on one hand??? Unfortunately we also left without drinking or eating anything.....

Perfect experience, Perfect sandwich

Open on Easter Sunday, this restaurant simply has a magical atmosphere, excellent staff and excellent cuisine. I can only recommend the sweet potato fries with their sauce, they are incredible. Thanks again to all the staff and the cook for this beautiful moment that I will not soon forget.

Went to Baz to check out their new menu the day after it came out. Got there around 6:30 pm, and by the time we finally got to order (about an hour later due to the lack of wait staff), they were already out of burgers. You'd think they'd stock up more, especially with a big 40% off deal going on. It was super busy, and we had to flag the waiter down three times just to order. Ended up getting the salmon, some other fish dish, and a salad instead. Don't get me wrong, the food was very good. The flavors and presentation lived up to the expectations set by Baz's reputation. But the prices? Ouch. We were grateful to get 40% off. My plate had just one fish filet and a small side salad - nothing else. We did get some extra sides, but of course had to pay extra for those. Feels like Baz is trying to change things up, but they've got some kinks to work out. The food is good, but they need to sort out their service, portioning, and pricing. I hope they figure it out soon 'cause I used to like the place, but it's kinda hard to justify going back.

We regularly have lunch and dinner at BAZ restaurant. There are always interesting dishes on the menu, the restaurant has an attractive atmosphere and the food is always good. Our young children always enjoy themselves here.

Great place to exercise, everyone is very helpful, drinks afterwards are also great. There is a new chef, so I can't judge the food properly yet.

Unfortunately (due to a lack of staff?) we had very limited choice on the menu and the food was still very mediocre and therefore overpriced. Asking 9.75 for the very mediocre dessert is really not possible. Too bad because the nicely decorated restaurant and terrace are certainly wonderful in the summer on the water. If there are so few staff and the cook is absent, it is better to close the restaurant (temporarily).

I think I’ve found a Zaandam hidden gem. The view is amazing and the seating is spacious. The menu was limited due to a switch but the food was really nice!

Helaas voor de jongeren die er werken konden ze de situatie niet aan. Ze deden erg hun best maar hebben geen idee hoe de horeca werkt. Ze missen sturing en zijn aan hun lot over gelaten. Een half uur gewacht op een drankje en na bijna 2 uur wachten op het eten maar weggegaan. Met ons zijn nog aantal andere tafels vertrokken. Jammer want met het terras aan de Zaan een stiekem pareltje.

The quality has dropped considerably over the last couple of months. I can no longer reccomend the burger which I called "Best Burger...EVER" in an earlier review. The burger is now much smaller than the one in the past and my bun was dry and stale. It was dry enough that you could thump on it like a drum and peices of bun would fall off. The bun had the consistency of a soup cracker. I think their top chef left. I wish I could find out which restaurant she works at now. Another dish ordered by the table was the bibimbap. It was flavorless and the meat had the bite appeal of chewing an old leather belt. The worst burn of all was they are still charging the same prices for these smaller portions and flavorless meals as the old chef. In all fairness, I think they are going through a rough patch since their last chef left. I will give it another try in a couple months to see if they have improved. Otherwise, the only thing I can reccomend is the beer, the riverside seating, and the rock climbing.

We went to Bouldergym first and got hungry. It was so convenient that they have a restaurant and it is situated by the water. Food is great!

Very nice restaurant with a beautiful outdoor area on the water. The courtyard is cozy with a view of the water or the climbing gym on the other side of the glass. You can see people bouldering hard, beautiful to see while eating :) The food is really delicious, everyone had a good time and something for everyone. Recommended!

Chef's choice not possible, menu not up to date, little choice, inexperienced staff. Perhaps my expectations were too high, but I was quite disappointed.

In my opinion, the nicest place in Zaanstad for a relaxing lunch or dinner. Surprisingly good food, chill atmosphere and 100% the best terrace on the Zaan!

You've been on my list to go for some time. A lovely place on the water. Ultimately the map, it's not a big map. But if you have a small menu, you should also be able to serve it. There were already 3 dishes not available and 2 of them I wanted. Serving food also took a really long time even though it was not busy, other visitors after us were served before us.... I'm afraid we were forgotten, but nothing was said about that. Ordered a wine...the menu said the wine came from Chile but the bottle said Romania. Personally, I don't go there to eat anymore...I will go for a drink and a drink by the water. Getting back to the food...yes, it was great.

Delicious food, friendly staff, quick service. Overall 10/10 experience! Only issue was no english menu which probably was because they recently got a new chef. I ordered a chicken pita which was surprisingly good, my friends also loved their food. Best meal we had so far in amsterdam area

You are sitting here on the Zaan. Super nice people and delicious food. Highly recommended! This is also the right place for drinks. It is a hidden gem because from the front you don't give it a cent and you can hardly see that there is a restaurant.

Changing rooms looked neat. It's nice that the routes are often changed, so you don't climb the same way every time.

A restaurant that i will highly recommend, they are only 2 person working. 1 very good service crew that takes care of everything outside the kitchen and 1 passionate chef that focus only on the quality of food. Deeply impressed with their dedication to the work, although a short waiting time but we are a group of 12 person and all are very happy in the end. I would highly recommend this place to any one nearby, price is reasonable with quality food.

Our kids rate it 5 stars because of kind staff, kids menu, tasty food, surprise from chef and overall impression. I can’t argue with them, it’s a great place!

We went to Baz restaurant for lunch and the menu was limited, only starters and side dishes were served. We had Asian salad with duck (sorry can’t remember the name) and Kraage, both were excellent! We ordered seconds and almost ordered them a third time :) Kudos to the chef! They have a lovely terrace by the canal. I’m sure it would be really nice in the summer. There’s a risk that there will be a birthday party for kids if you go during the day :) The staff were friendly as well. I would highly recommend restaurant.

Nice place to eat. You can sit there very relaxed and the atmosphere is very nice, nice staff! The food is really made with love and it always looks beautiful! Special things, vegetarian, but there is also meat on the menu. I have eaten there 4 or 5 times and it is always delicious. And it is very affordable, which is also very nice! And a nice play corner for the children, also important!

Delicious food! We were pleasantly surprised at this restaurant. While sitting down you can either enjoy the nice view at the water or watch people climbing. The atmosphere is good and the waiters are friendly. The dishes are not mainstream and they all sounded great. We tried 2 of their sandwiches which were both great. The cappuccino however was unfortunately a big disappointment. Will definitely come here again for lunch or dinner.

Very nice tent and you can eat there (and climb!). The outdoor area is very nice to sit in spring and summer. The food is vegetarian, and very good. There is one chef who does everything, high praise. The cocktails are also excellent. The burger with shrimp is highly recommended, but that actually applies to all dishes. The owner is also very friendly and involved.

Door onderbezetting helaas een illusie rijker. Twee jonge mannen die de keuken draaiende moesten houden, een jongedame die bijna alleen een drukke hal moest bedienen. Twee uur zitten wachten en nog niks op tafel. Zelfs geen voorafje. Alleen wat drankjes gedronken (ook met moeite te bestellen). Afgerekend en moeten gaan. Ze boden excuus aan en hadden niet op zoveel mensen gerekend. Maar het zag er niet extreem druk uit, wel vol. Alleen waren de jonge koks duidelijk niet opgewassen tegen alle bestellingen, hoe hard ze ook werkten. Lijkt me dat hier een andere aanpak nodig is met meer personeel. En als klant een serveerster helemaal overstuur zien huilen is ook niet waar je op zit te wachten. Helaas, maar geen aanrader op dit moment. Ik wens hen sterkte en beterschap.

Nice service and delicious food. Nice terrace on the Zaan too.

We came for dinner and we were very disappointed with the food. There was a chicken special which was ok but we ordered the risotto and it was bad. Taste mainly of Parmesan. We also found some unknown and uneatable thing in the risotto. We showed it to 2 different waiters who bother said it was mushrooms. But there was no mushrooms in the ingredient list... Odd...maybe I'll be back for a beer. I'll pass on the food for now...

I recommend it. The food is very good, we went because of the reviews and we were delighted 💯 The girl who served us was super kind to us. A charming place facing the water, very relaxing.

I suspect you were very understaffed: - drinks took very long - food was served in parts - my sandwich was completely forgotten. - at first there was no cheese cake and later there was again? - there was one too many coffees on the bill... - the croquette sandwich and the salmon sandwich were dripping in the sauce. The sandwich is a kind of waffle. I would recommend hearty real baker's bread. - unfortunately we were not allowed to order anything from the evening menu at half past two, such as the nachos

Top location, good food. Service not good due to understaffing. The meal took an hour to reach the table and it was better to pick up the beer yourself at the bar. Half an order regularly arrived at the table…. Point of improvement
