Benji's in Weesperzijde

Nous avons réservé pour 6 personnes une semaine à l’avance. Les plats que nous avons choisi étaient vachement bons. Mais il y a très peu de choix et la moitié de ceux ci était « sold out » à 10h15 du matin. Ce qui restreint l’expérience puisqu’il reste 3/4 plats et 2 desserts que nous pouvions prendre. Beaucoup de supplément : 2€ pour du parmesan râpé au dessus d’un toast quand même.

It’s my first time here at Benji’s! We saw it online and the food is good! 😁 I thought they were more choices for brunch but I guess I got overwhelmed of the other videos 🤣 though I got the avocado toast with extra salmon and egg 👍🏻 I loved the mango iced matcha, something new for me.

Nice place for brunch but it tends to get very loud as they is mostly full on sunday morning. No acoustic installations to damp a bit the noise & the noise of the chairs when people stand up. No decaff coffee was available on that day. Not possible to reserve up front and you have to queue in a line (expect 10 to 25 minutes).

Recommend to check the availability of the seats and space before you go. THEY DONT HAVE CAPACITY . This would be very different if i was summer as they can accomodate outst.. We were literally standing for 40 min in front of the cafe to get a table . Of course the staff was lovely and they work so hard to work everything out well. and the food was amazing .. And so tasty and healthy . But my experience was not great as it shows in tiktok and instagram .

Heel slecht. Eten was totaal niet lekker en zag er verpieterd en smakeloos uit. De sla blaadjes waren bruin en de zalm teriyaki smaakte gewoon naar gerookte zalm. Al met al veel te duur voor fantasieloze en vooral smakeloze salades. 46 euro armer en geen fijne ervaring. Vraag me ook af of er überhaupt een chef aanwezig is. Ik zag alleen hele jonge meiden die het druk hadden in de keuken.

The food here was pretty good, and the lattes were as well. The egg sandwich had a great flavor. We liked the sauce on it. The burrata toast wasn’t too notable, and I wouldn’t get it again. It was a short walk from our hotel though. All in all, a very decent option for a good breakfast or brunch spot!

A good brunch spot in Amsterdam if you are willing to wait in line for half an hour. Afterwards the service is impeccable, fast and friendly. Small disappointment with the fairly basic avocado toast, almost “in kit form”. Great gluten free option!

The food and the service was great!

We had to wait a very long time for our order to be taken. This was recorded by a very unprofessional waitress. Furthermore, the food was tasty, but not worth the price. The atmosphere around us was pleasant. The menus were also old, dirty and torn.

The food takes quite a bit of time to arrive but the place is nice and with drinks the wait is not a big deal. Staff is friendly.

I visited Benji’s today with two of my friends, and the atmosphere was incredibly warm and welcoming. The absolute highlight was the Caesar salad, which truly dazzles your taste buds and leaves you speechless for a few minutes. Especially when the wonderfully kind Marit is your host 😊

We were unsure about our order when we were choosing our dishes, and the waiter didn't recommend anything for us. We ended up choosing two dishes that had almost the same ingredients, and the waiter seemed very upset before we ordered; I’m not sure why. The food was good, but it could have used more variety to make the meal more enjoyable!

Very good service, food was very tasty and fresh. Prices are rather high according to Amsterdam.

A while ago I had a business lunch at Benji's on Wibautstraat. Tasted great! Then forgot to take/lost the receipt. I then contacted them and they managed to find the receipt (after more than a month) and sent it to me by email. This is good service! Definitely recommended.

Food is creative and tastes exceptional with bright and comfy atmosphere, and just a few minutes walk from Social Hub the hotel.

Vraiment rien d incroyable... ok les quelques assiettes proposées sont jolies mais à part ça, le cadre est vraiment basique, le personnel aussi froid que la température de la salle... bref allez y si vous logez à moins de 500m mais sinon y'a évidemment mieux plus proche de votre hébergement:-)

The first meal we had in Amsterdam was at Benji’s and it did not disappoint. Limited menu but everything on it is delicious. If you are around Amstel station, do not miss this place! The hot chocolate, salad and eggs- avocado burger was absolutely amazing!!

I feel it’s my duty to leave a review of this spot. I’m a huge foodie from Canada and this is the first 10/10 meal I’ve had since visiting Amsterdam. Absolutely delicious! I had the burata toast and the Bali cheese steak bun. *drools* Will definitely be back!

Balinese don't eat beef since they are Hindus, but you can try their Balinese cheese steak which is basically a beef dish.

Probably the worst food I've had in Amsterdam. It was fine, but felt pretty awful after. Wish I'd gone anywhere else. Maybe I didn't order the right thing. But then they should remove the wrong things from the menu. It was the cheese steak. It was sloppy with sauce and on a not very good bun. And pretty uninteresting.

Great coffee, even greater buns! We tried "Eggstraordinary" and "Bali cheese steak". Beautiful space as well, and kind, professional service. Will definitely come back!

Last visited August 2024. Good food, great service. May need to wait to be seated but worth the trip.

The enterior itself is very aesthetic and welcoming. We waited a bit in the front, not too long considering that it was Saturday afternoon. The service itself was okay, nothing really exceptional, too warm or welcoming. Food was okay, a bit on a pricey side considering the fact that you get a slice of bread with a spread of burata - pesto - and a couple of cherry tomatoes. Something that really stood out and sadly in a negative way is for how long we waited for our food. A burrata toast and an avocado toast we waited for around 30 minutes. Should you visit? If you are in the neighbourhood give it a go, but its not worth traveling to or going an extra mile to experience the food and the service.

Pretty plants but they do not make up for bad value for money and uncomfortable school chairs (the açai bowl was particularly disappointing).

I was delighted to be able to visit your restaurant. The dishes I tried were tasty and carefully prepared. Unfortunately, the whole experience was marred by poor service. The staff was rude, unprofessional, which greatly spoiled the otherwise wonderful impression of the restaurant. It's a shame that such quality cuisine is not accompanied by better service, because the experience would be much more pleasant. I would love to come back for the food, but I would definitely expect an improvement in the service.

The place is beautiful, and the food is very delicious—especially the French toast, which I highly recommend. However, the entire experience was ruined by a waitress whose behavior was extremely arrogant and rude. Instead of being hospitable, she acted like a police officer, literally sending me outside the restaurant to wait, even though there were available tables inside. I have never experienced something like this in a restaurant before. Unfortunately, the rest of the staff didn’t even try to be welcoming or smile. It’s a shame that such a lovely place employs staff who drive customers away with their attitude. Never coming back, despite the good food!!!

Our hotel was nearby so we came here for breakfast on the first day, it was so delicious that we came every day. It was the same quality every day. French toast, scone, avo toast, iced latte & pumpkin spice latte are all super tasty! The service was also friendly always with a smile.

Helaas was mijn ervaring bij Benjis Amsterdam Oost op 10 augustus 2024 teleurstellend. Bij aankomst werd ik onvriendelijk begroet door een medewerkster die geen goede service bood. Toen er eten over mijn voeten gemorst werd, verwachtte ik oprechte excuses, maar kreeg ik die niet. Het gebrek aan gastvrijheid en respect was duidelijk, vooral toen ik ongepaste opmerkingen hoorde. Dit soort gedrag hoort niet thuis in de horeca. Mijn bezoek aan Benjis Amsterdam Oost was een negatieve ervaring die ik niet snel zal vergeten.

This place is very typically Dutch, with very nice setting and excellent food. I really insist on the fact the dishes are delicious and fresh. But my God, service is one of the worst I've experienced in my life. I know Dutch service is not famous for its efficiency, I used to live in Amsterdam. But this place should enter the Guiness Book of Records for the slow motion effect of their staff. Both kitchen and waiting staff. We had to leave without the dessert we ordered 20 minutes before. 10 minutes to get seated, 15 minutes to get our order taken, 25 minutes to get served, 15 minutes to get our plates removed from our table and... no dessert. Although it was magically ready when we got up and left. Staff kept chitchatting and were really uninterested by the customers. Or by the fact we clearly said we were unhappy. Same for cooks. Can’t say they were that busy by the way, with about 4 of 5 customers inside. Anyway, big shame cause the place and food are amazing!

As soon as we arrived, the young blonde serving lady gave us an “I’m not in the mood” look. We're not otherwise complicated, but a little decency generally doesn't hurt anyone. And otherwise you're doing the wrong job. Too bad. The food otherwise was very good.

Good service and atmosphere but not a place we will be back. Long queue, avocado toasts are very average (full of onions and paprika, bread is not very tasty)…granola was nice. Expensive, but standard price for Amsterdam.

Went to Benji’s in Oost for the first time and had quite a disappointing experience. We’ve been waiting for drinks for 35mins and had to wait for food 10-20mins after that. I found hair in my french toast - told the waiter, she apologised and I had to wait for another 20-30mins. I eventually got up and went inside to pay the bill as we’ve been waiting for so long we were ready to leave. I took my new french toast to go. They did not charge me for it, however, almost overcharged me 40€ more if I had not noticed! Very limited choice of food and a very slow service. Will not come back ☹️

Really liked randan burger (a bit too spicy for me, so pay attention to that) and burrata was good. Very kind personnel. Great place for lunch 👍🏻

First, the waitress mixed up our order, then in order not to wait, we simply ordered 3 portions of regular eggs separately, for which she brought us 4 portions of scrambled eggs. Secondly, she completely forgot that we ordered coffee. In conclusion, they were not satisfied and disappointed. The service wants better.

We waited in the rain for 20 min until we got to the front of the line, when they proceeded to inform us they ran out of bread.. A brunch place that runs out of bread (and then refuses to make any of the dishes that included bread but with modifications) is a big red flag. Regardless of how busy you might get “unexpectedly”. Even poorer management is that you don’t notice until it’s already run out to turn people away, or don’t tell them after they waited in line.

They were out of sourdough bread so I had the avocado smash on a brioche bun which was ok. Egg could have been crispier. Açaí bowl was good.

We had the burrata toast with tomatoes and proscuitto, the yogurt bowl with fresh fruits, and the acai bowl. Everything was delicious and so fresh. Food came out quickly and the coffees were lovely too. 🥰

Croissant and compote was really tasty! Both the Caesar salad and avocado toast were tasty but felt like there was “too much” on it. For example, the salad’s spicy chicken felt out of place and the avocado toast’s bell peppers also felt out of place 😅

I can only recommend Benji's! It's all a ten out of ten! The super delicious food, the large selection, the super friendly service and also the modern-industrial-Balinese atmosphere!

I am not an avocado toast person so I look for real food that can fill my stomach when I'm searching for brunch and this is the perfect one. Good portion of flavorful dish.

I just came from the airport to this place, because I have heard good things about it. But my food took more than 40 minutes to be ready... The lady was absolutely kind, and apologized for that. In the end, my Eggstraordinary was absolutely delicious! And they didn't charge me for the cappuccino. Very tasty food, thanks.

You will not feel like a welcome guest in this establishment. First, the line is already an hour after opening, and you won't be seated even if there are free tables (very strange). But this is not the biggest problem. Secondly, the service is, to put it briefly, terrible. Untidy girls who take orders and can't remember 4 positions. They brought dirty utensils, and when they asked to replace them, they received very strange looks, like "how have you eaten already". Absolute indifference to the order. They brought the wrong coffee, and they did not offer to change it, but simply apologized. Well, at least it was removed from the account. The food is nothing special. Didn't like it, very bad experience. But as long as people come here, unfortunately, this institution will exist. Never come here again

Service is very slow and not too helpful (we were never asked if we needed anything else after we ordered our first dishes). Even though many free tables available, there’s a long queue outside waiting for nothing. Menu choices are limited, little number of egg dishes. A bit expensive for what you get (4 eur for a small slice of bacon in your avo toast and 4 eur for 1 egg). The food tastes good though and the atmosphere is nice.
