The food here is really good, no complaints at all on the quality. But there’s a big issue that keeps repeating, and it needs to be addressed. The place says it’s open until 16:00, but that’s not really true in practice. The second time I went around 15:30 to order some takeaway, I was told the kitchen closes at 15:30. Fair enough, so I went back another day at 15:10, and the kitchen was already closed. I even asked what the actual kitchen closing time is so I could plan accordingly, but they couldn’t give me a clear answer. If you stop serving food well before your advertised closing time, that should be communicated clearly on your website, social media, or even Google Maps. If your business is selling food, and you say you're open until 16:00, then customers should be able to order at least takeaway until 16:00. Otherwise, the real closing time is 15:00 or earlier. It’s a pity, because the food is good, but the experience ends up being frustrating.

The wait for the food was quite long, but they found us a table for 3 right away even though we didn't have a reservation. Very nice location and quiet environment and good vibes. Excellent food and drinks. Definitely recommended ✨

Almost an hour to deliver three sandwiches and one portion of scrambled eggs for a 2 years old child. The eggs were served spicy, with no mention on the menu. We asked then to just have another, simple egg. They served it again with spicy powder on it; the waitress noticed and tried to smear it out and then tried STILL to serve it to us. For a baby. Unbelievable.

I like this place but today I just came there to take a breakfast before work and they forgot my food order and gave to someone else. Oh my, why is so hard Dutch people serve well? Sorry but this is very annoying and I didn't have time to take breakfast because I was waiting for something that never will come lol

Second time here, still nice place inside and outside. However, I need to give a thumb down for latte macchiato. As you can see from the picture they use a glass for water to prepare latte macchiato and also they put a lot of coffee in the latte macchiato which is completely wrong. It is clear that there is not a real barista behind the coffee machine. It is a pity because the place is nice and people working there are really pleasant.

We come here often, but lately the quality has left much to be desired. You enter and are assigned a spot. After we decided what we wanted to eat and drink, we had to wait a long time before staff came to us to take our order. We just barely fell asleep because of the energy that the staff brings. From our spot we could eventually see how our dishes were getting cold in the kitchen and not being picked up. Our food was served lukewarm and when we said something about it afterwards, the message was difficult to get through and it seemed as if we were the “whiners” here. It's a pity that no compensation was provided, this has ensured that we will not return. Too bad, because the food isn't that bad.

I’m honestly very surprised about the reviews. I got an avocado toast with scrambled eggs and coffee. It was the most mediocre avocado toast I’ve ever had. It was just so plain. The coffee was the same. In fact, coffee was worse. These prices are way too much for this kind of food. They didn’t even try to make it taste good, no seasoning or sauce or whatever. Too overpriced for what you get. I wouldn’t go back

Some different items on the menu with a good flavor - the restaurant commits to the flavor that you expect - e.g. truffle and mushroom are the dominant flavours in the truffle mushroom egg bun. Service was very quick and there was a queue the whole time we were there. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Nice place with great atmosphere. Sadly they haven’t had the avo today, so I had scrambled eggs with truffled mushrooms…and what can I say? It was absolutely delicious! Service was great, too. Flat White is 7/10.

I don't understand how a veggie restaurant can have the plants that "decorate" the place in these conditions of neglect and lack of love. Food is perfect, prices are crazy nonsense.

We are returning customers and we really enjoyed Benji's before, especially the food which is very tasty. However the service was really cold and not customer friendly at all. The place was full so maybe they think they don't need new customers (actually we were returning customers). We ended up deciding not to stay just due to the disinterested attitude of the servers. Luckily there are plenty of good restaurants around with good food and much friendlier staff. Probably last time we were trying Benji. If you happen to pass by and the place is not very busy you could give it a try, the food is good. But if the place is busy, you might get treated like they are doing you a favour even by speaking to you.

Quite good, very pleasant treatment, the atmosphere, if you are strange (out of the ordinary) it is better not to wait too long, they look at you as if you were a light bulb, yet everything is calm. Quite high price, I still think that in this country potatoes do not exist when it comes to ordering hamburgers, which by the way are not well mentioned on the menu, the ones with eggs are hamburgers and also others that I do not remember, the prices are usually around 15e, the juices are excessively expensive except for the orange, that is a fairly normal price. Elegant bathrooms and very elegant premises, the air of grandeur of the premises is far above, you have to be careful :)

The service is friendly, although at times it can take a little while before someone comes to assist you, especially when it’s busy. This breakfast spot is an absolute dream! Everything was delicious, but the yogurt with homemade granola? 🤯🥣 Oh my, it was incredible! I was so blown away that I immediately tried recreating granola like that at home—free of additives and just as flavorful—but I’m not quite there yet. 🏠✨ Truly amazing, so fresh and delicious. Wow! 😍 (totally worth the wait lol)

I was skeptical at first when I came in, I spoke to a lady who helped me to find a seating and I was attended to by a lovely woman. I don’t eat eggs all the time cos I love them made a certain way and she accommodated my dietary requirements and they tasted so nice. I will be coming back #blackgirleats

Food is good, but the service and vibe is great. Very nice place for a quick lunch. Orders come out very fast as well. Prices are quite reasonable considering it's still Amsterdam after all.

Nice atmosphere and friendly service. Due to crowds we could only sit in the self-service section upstairs. But if you order, they will bring it for you. Your order will be taken at the table in the downstairs area. Quality of the food was also great!

Today, at 3:38 PM, my son and I were turned away with the explanation that the kitchen had already closed. I am aware that your official closing time is 4:00 PM, so it was quite disappointing to be refused service nearly 25 minutes before closing. When I mentioned that you still had 25 minutes until closing, I was told, ‘It hasn’t been a busy day, so we did our last round and closed the kitchen.’ This experience was truly frustrating. I would recommend updating your closing time to 3:30 PM if this is a regular practice.

Wait half an hour before you get a seat, even though there are empty seats. They are only set up for 2 people at a table, adding a chair is not possible in their view. Too few staff is scandalous. Finally sat down at an empty table

Very very very slow staff. Have been there for 4 times, and with all times a simple coffee takes 15-20min. Last time, after 25min they still didn’t make drinks. In short: staff is kindly but they have no clue what they are doing.. no structure, no communication, no team, only one guy was working hard. Sadly we left the place.

It's a very nice place, but unfortunately the coffee is really of poor quality... it would be so nice if it would get better!

Very good breakfast! My wife and I were super happy with our breakfast! Good service and good food. The only negative is perhaps that the coffee was a bit stingy, could be a bit bigger coffee for that price. We are going back already tomorrow.

Unfortunately, we found this a bit disappointing. The French toast in particular was extremely small. We often have lunch out and it is quite normal to have at least 2 pieces of toast to serve on 1 plate...as "French toast" We were served 1 very small piece of toast. (It should be said that the waitress corrected this for us... the cook made a slightly larger toast...) The brioche eggstraordinary was okay. Again, not a tour de force.

It's super tasty food; just the arrogance that sometimes hangs among the staff. This is also one of the few places in Amsterdam where you have to wait for a spot even if it is completely empty. If you still sit down, they get angry.

Hidden gem restaurant in the neighbourhood. Nicely decorated inside, but also great for enjoying the sun in the terrace. Fresh, good quality food and great service overall.

Bad service!!! We were ignored and other guests who came after us and didn't have reservations were served. I hope that doesn't apply to all of Benji's, we'll try another one now because we've only heard positive things. Too bad.

It's a cool place for work cafe, you can enjoy your coffee and work from there, they have also got good food options, only drawback is nearby parking which is quite expensive so unless you don't live nearby, parking is around 6 euro per hour

Food is good, atmosphere is good. You can spend quite a while here. A place to relax! And that certainly applies to the service; the same order was first given to the table next to me after half an hour (who came in later) and allow at least half an hour for a (second) cup of coffee. So take your time when you visit this place!

Food is fine but the service is really dramatic! We sit outside and after half an hour we still don't get a menu, so we end up having to get it ourselves. Then after fifteen minutes I have to walk back inside because the waiter does not come to take our order. It then takes another 40 minutes for the food to arrive. The staff around there also seem to be of little interest.

Racist Staff. Treated us like trash compared to all the other white people never coming here again. Had to wait 3 hours for food and drink while not even being busy. Food was wrong and also the drink. They charged us for something we didnt even order and said they forgot what table the food had to go to even thought there were only two tables with people atm. The food was bland and the staff was very inconsiderate and lazy

One of my favourite breakfast places. Prices are reasonable, tasty food. It's in the quite area and much less crowded then the other Benjis

We celebrate our friends’ birthday here. Gezellig place and good food. Recommend you the burger katsu! Katsu was juicy and crispy. Bun was perfect! Great place for party above 10 people.

The food was very nice. We only had to wait quite a while to be able to order something.

Good food, actually. Eggstraordinary bun with omelette and caramelized onions delicious. For Smashed Avo you need extra lemon and olive oil, which was not provided upon request (but a piece of lime). Coffee ok, chai latte too weak. Service is a problem, the waitress's gaze wanders past, no one asks if you need anything else, as is usual in good shops. A cook sees that we call, but doesn't tell the waitress. In the toilet you have to turn the end of the faucet to let water flow, too tricky for a café. Ambience good, you just need good people to serve. Ah, menus dirty, not even wiped, see picture.

Great place and always full. Quality food, I love the avocado toast. Their smoothie is very good too and the atmosphere is wonderful to spend a few hours chatting with friends.

Arriving 3 pm on a Sunday to hear that the staff decided to close the kitchen because it is quiet. I wonder if the owners of this place are aware.

So so so good. every bite lets out a “yummmmm”. Highly recommend the mango hummus toast & the eggstrordinary bun. The presentation is so beautiful. Only improvement would be the coffees although they are fine too!

Food and vibes were great, a bit pricey but overall alright. We asked to split the bill and were told they don’t do this because “it takes too much time”. After requesting this several times, the employee rolled her eyes and finally split the bill for us. It took just a few seconds. Uncomfortable situation that made the overall experience not as great as it could have been.

I very much like this place, the portions are a bit smaller lately!

The food is okey, the service not to good, the drinks take forever the bartender is eating fries with sauce with her hands and not cleaning them after and continues making drinks witch I consider disgusting.

I live in the neighbourhood and Benji's is definitely the best brunch spot in this area - I love the atmosphere and all the plants they have inside the restaurant. It feels like you're in the jungle and it just makes the experience so nice. I've been there more than 10 times and the food never disappoints - I am always looking to try something new in the menu. Last time I went I tried their falafel bowl and it was really good - the sauce was delicious.

Went twice and ordered the same - egg brioche, chicken brioche, and French toast. The caramel used onions made the eggs brioche extremely tasty, so we had to come back for it. Totally recommend, the best brunch place we tried in Amsterdam. We were on our laptops working, the place is quiet, suitable for work and even quiet enough for meetings.

Vegetarian food is great, staff is super friendly and vibe is stunning. Went twice in a row while visiting Amsterdam. Try Mango Humus, it is amazing 🤩

I don't understand why they charge New York City prices but the food was good. It would be nice if the burger buns would come with fries. 50€ for a buddha bowl, burger bun, one drink and some fries is a bit much imo

My friends and I tried Benjis for the first time, despite me living in Amsterdam for a year. I had been eager to visit ever since putting it on my "To Do" list before moving. However, I'm disappointed to say that this experience won't bring me back. To sum it up: • We waited over an hour for a waitress who wasn’t even serving our table to realize they had lost our order. They wouldn’t have known if we hadn’t raised concerns. • When our salad and bread finally arrived, we were shocked at the small portions, almost feeling it was intentional. It was near closing time, so it seemed rushed. We left hungry. • Despite being promised "at most a 50% discount on our meals," we only received free coffee. Then, when paying, the bill had extra charges added without explanation. We were all fed up and just wanted to leave. Based on this experience, I can't recommend this Benjis location.

Staff very nice and can speak English well. The Granola Bowl is highly recommended.
