It took way too long (more than 1,5h) before our food arrived. We had to inquire about it multiple times. Then two of the three orders arrived. We already completely finished eating and had to inquire again before the third person got their food. No apologies were made. Food was fine, but my dish only had two very small pieces of bread so it was not enough. I didn't dare to order something again because of the long waiting time and went to a different place after for a snack and a coffee. We probably won't come back. Which is a pity because the location is great.

The French toast at Dignita Hoftuin isn't your average breakfast. It's an architectural masterpiece—right in the middle of the Hoftuin, where everything already looks like someone ordered "relaxed, but please, beautiful." The toast arrives at the table like a small, golden-brown sunrise. Perfectly crispy on the outside, so soft on the inside that you briefly wonder if it secretly wanted to be dessert. The vanilla isn't just a flavoring—it's a friendly greeting. The berries on top seem as if they volunteered to be part of this work of art. And the presentation? Let's just say you briefly feel like you're being served a breakfast that was actually meant for a food magazine. After the first bite, you think: "Okay. This isn't just good. This is Dignita-good." After the second bite: "Why is there only one type? Who decided that? And why wasn't that person immediately awarded a medal?" Because if there had been a choice—mango, chocolate, caramel, something with pistachio—I probably would have sat there every morning until they gave me my own seat with a name tag. As it is, this French toast remains a Hoftuin monument: a breakfast that proves perfection is sometimes just a plateful. A toast that shows: one flavor is enough—when it's so good you briefly forget how you got here.

An elegant and relaxing bistro, a pleasant place to stop. The beautifully decorated space, with its lush greenery, wood interiors and plants creates a true oasis. The dishes are healthy and tasty, perfect for brunch or a savory breakfast, although the portions aren't quite commensurate with the price. I recommend it for the location and quality of the food.

Unfortunately not the previous Dignita Hidtuin we knew. Not recommended any longer. Not the brunch we expected, flavour, presentation were mediocre. Service was OKish, not very helpful..

The food was tasty, but very expensive. The atmosphere is good, lovely outdoor terrace. Nice place. Service takes a very long time; you really shouldn't sit there during peak lunchtime (too busy to be served quickly) or allow plenty of time.

We discovered this lovely breakfast spot through a few food bloggers, and we’re so glad we did! We spontaneously stopped by and were lucky enough to get a beautiful table. From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed and looked after so attentively. We ordered the “BRIGHT SIGHT EGGS”, “BRAVE THE LAMB”, and the “BANANOFFEE FRENCH TOAST” to share. Oh my dear… it was heaven! 🤤 Honestly, it was the best French toast I’ve ever had. Every single bite was an absolute delight! If you’re coming here for breakfast, you definitely shouldn’t miss it. Everything else was just as perfect — the food, the service, and the lovely atmosphere. ❤️ We’ll definitely be coming back! Thank you for such a wonderful breakfast and for giving us the perfect start to our day exploring Amsterdam. 🇳🇱✨

Bring back Benny Boys and the old menu! I used to be a regular customer, but after the change in menu (and chef), increase in prices and smaller portions, it's no longer worth coming here. Switching out hollandaise sauce for tinned corn is not acceptable. The waiting staff are excellent as usual, shame about the drop in food standards.

Very sad they removed benny boy in favor of benny girl which has no hollandaise sauce instead they have overcooked poached eggs avocado mash, soggy potato rosti and corn. This dish simply does not work. The idea behind hashbrown in the previous dish was to create body and hollandaise sauce brings everything together. Very sad

We waited 60 minutes for our food. No joke! We were put off twice. No apology whatsoever. I was furious! We paid for our two drinks and left.

Where is Benny Boy? You removed the hollandaise sauce, the main ingredient that makes Eggs Benedict… Eggs Benedict. Hashbrown? You changed it to some fried grocery snack that tastes just weird. It feels like all the difficult parts of the dish were stripped away, the name was changed, and what’s left is just a cheaper, less flavorful version. Sure, it’s easier, but it completely sacrifices the quality. Please bring Benny Boy back. I’m genuinely disappointed, especially because this used to be my favorite brunch place. As for the Benny Girl… it tasted like overboiled baby food mixed with corn, with an overly soft potato mash blended into avocado. The textures were mushy, the flavors were flat, and the whole dish was honestly unacceptable. Benny Boy is the signature and IDENTITY of Dignita. Please respect your own heritage because your customers seem to care more about you than “you”.

I’ve been frequenting this place for years, and always have recommended it to others. Recently going from 20 years of vegetarianism to vegan, I was largely disappointed by their menu. There was one option for the main and a breakfast bowl. I was basically served a plate full of tomatoes with two or three cooked slices of peaches and onions in there, with a couple croutons that seemed to be advertised as if they’d come with some body and flavor. I gave a small remark at the end saying some cooked cauliflower wouldn’t hurt this dish, to which I was met with a sassy attitude when all it was, was actual feedback in a polite tone. I don’t recommend this place to vegans at all unless you want to have a breakfast bowl at 3pm, or feel like having a vegan dish like it’s 2007. For the rest, yeah atmosphere is always great. Can’t complain, but objectively have to say the dish I had was absolutely ridiculous.

Beautiful place for breakfast! The garden and glasshouse atmosphere are charming, the service is warm, and every dish was delicious. Definitely worth reserving a table in advance. The cortado was smooth and well-balanced, and the fresh orange juice was excellent.

We left after waiting for over an hour, while other tables that arrived after us were served. Not a word from the waiters, except "You're next," which wasn't true... Very disappointing, especially since we've had good experiences here in the past.

This is the only place in town I’ve enjoyed going back to for the beautiful atmosphere and inventive dishes. Brunch on Friday however completely missed the mark and none of us liked our poached egg dishes which were a little overcooked and underseasoned and unimpressive. I left most of mine swimming its abundance of yogurt. The best dish that maintained their usual standard was the pancakes. The Jamaican cake was hard as a brick and dry and should not have been served at all.

I’ve got the benny girl and honestly the food was bland (that being said charging 2€ for chili oil is pure greed) oils and condiments should be part of the service. The chai latte was a bit watered down and tasted like a glass of hot milk. I expected more given the hype in the reviews. Service was however decent and the location is nice.

I really love to try new spots across the globe and Dignita was one of the spots that I would recommend but probably wouldn’t come back. We ordered Golden Cilbir, Benny Girl, Brave the lamb and basil eggs(?). Basil Eggs 6.5/10: The bread was really good but meal was nothing special. I was expecting more basil taste across the dish but it’s a pretty safe option if you like eggs and toast. (We ordered avocado on side which came after we finished the course) Brave the Lamb 8/10:Definitely order it with crispy chili oil! The pita bread was really fresh and tasty, the flavors combined really well and the chili oil was cherry on top. The lamb was soft and tender. This is a must get if you ever visit! Benny Girl 6/10: The rosti was too salty for our liking but the rest of the plate was really colorful and the flavors were in harmony. Golden Cilbir 8/10: The eggs and the bread were really nice and tasty. I normally have a hard time eating poached eggs but eggs were cooked to perfection. It was a really good dish overall but maybe the yogurt might have had more flavor. It was a really nice restaurant to bring family and friend!

I really liked the breakfast! Delicious dishes, aromatic coffee, friendly staff and a cozy atmosphere. The establishment is located in a park, so after breakfast you can take a nice walk. If you are looking for a place to have a delicious breakfast, drink quality coffee and relax in a comfortable atmosphere - I definitely recommend it!

I’ve been coming here for a few years. This has always been my fav brunch place in the east side of the city. Great food, nice and green environment and kids friendliness got me coming back over and over again. But now it seems everything that’s changed. We were there recently on a Friday noon, reserved before 12:00 peak lunch hour. It was almost full on the terrace and we sat in the almost empty inside. It took 25 min for someone to take our order and they seem to either only serve the terrace and let the 5 tables inside wait until they have time to go around. Compared to the service they used to have this was not acceptable. They also recently changed menu. My fav Benny boy was replaced with Benny girl. But the crispy hash brown was also replaced with soggy, almost looked like from supermarket frozen pack hash brown. The new menu was overall meh and all great signature dishes before were gone. This place now only has the nice environment.

I used to be a regular customer at Dignità Hoftuin and recommended it to many friends, which makes this review particularly disappointing to write. On my recent visit, the service was noticeably worse than I remembered. We waited around 25 minutes before anyone came to take our order (no, it wasn't busy at all), without even being asked if we wanted drinks. We also asked for ice and tap water, but after waiting another 20 minutes we had to ask a different staff member before it finally arrived. What surprised me most were the extra charges. My friend ordered the Benny Girl and requested scrambled eggs instead of poached eggs. There was a €2 surcharge for the change, which already felt excessive, but another €2 was added for the scrambled eggs themselves. Charging €4 in total for a simple egg preparation change on an already expensive dish felt unreasonable. The menu prices have increased while portions seem smaller than they used to be. My own dish was enjoyable overall, but the Taleggio cheese served with it had visible mold that should have been noticed before reaching the table. Another small but telling change: tap water used to be served in a carafe, whereas now it comes in a tiny glass that immediately needs refilling. Combined with the other changes, it gives the impression that revenue has become a higher priority than hospitality. It's a shame, because this used to be one of my favorite brunch spots in Amsterdam. I hope management takes this feedback seriously, as I'd much rather see Dignità return to the quality and customer experience that made me recommend it so enthusiastically in the past.

Absolutely the best breakfast/brunch in Amsterdam. I never miss a chance to go when I am in town. The flavors are exquisite and they change the menu by season.

Updating my 4-star review from a 2023 visit to a 2-star in 2026 Dignita seems to have gone quite some changes over the last years - food and service has suffered but the atmosphere continues to be great The food menu has been revamped with nice sounding flavour, but clearly gone up in prices (incl supplement prices ~€4 for bacon or halloumi) and sized down. The best example is the eggs benedict (Benny boy > Benny girl) which were generous and one of the best in Amsterdam doing a potato latkes/rosti instead of bread - now it is a much smaller portion of two poached egg and a thick fry cut of potato. The eggs themselves were inconsistent - one egg runny and one egg quite set. The avocado seasoning was quite off balanced as well. The service was quite inconsistent as well - a busy Saturday with a sunny day could be factor but a place like dignita should know better. Getting an order in took quite a bit, but service was rapid when taking away a not yet finished cocktail, and getting the bill took ages. On top of it a very large font size text of service not included in english and thanks for coming in dutch - clearly for the tourists - and leaves a bad taste in the mouth. Dignitas used to be great and on top of my suggestion for people visiting the city, but not anymore unless for a coffee and cake to enjoy the Hoftuin on a sunny day.

Not only the food took more than an hour to come but the plates were poorly cooked. Poached eggs were hard boiled, the sauce was missing etc I used to like this place and now is just bad. Also, the prices are ridiculous. The menu is designed in a way that you need to order extra toppings which are 5€ on top of the already overpriced dish. 50€pp for hard boiled eggs and an awful service.

Have been visiting Dignita for many years now but am sad to say the quality of the food and the space has gone down. The garden terrace is always a delight but the floor in the building and some aspects of the restrooms need an update (the sink was clogged for instance) I understand that food is expensive but when I pay a whopping 21 euros for an egg dish (çilbir) I expect the food to be top notch. The eggs were cold, and the bread seemed stale (even when toasted). I paid a 5 euro surplus to add halloumi, but otherwise the dish would only contain some tomatoes (still chilly from the fridge) and a little bit of frisée. I did not bother to complain about the egg temperature because we had to wait almost 40 minutes before the dish was served and did not want to wait additional time. Disappointed that I will not be frequenting Dignita any longer.

A very good, fresh breakfast in a lovely garden setting. The service was very friendly and the juices were freshly squeezed. A quiet place in the city to start your day.

It was quite a hot and busy day. Luckily we had a reservation. Despite of that they still managed to deliver great service. Friendly staff and also yummi brunch options. We sat outside and enjoyed the outdoor space.

We came here for breakfast and were not disappointed. The menu is creative and offers something different. The service was very friendly, despite the large number of customers. The atmosphere both inside and out is very cozy and inviting.

We were expecting more after reading reviews and seeing pictures of the brunch items at Hoftuin. Unfortunately, the experience did not live up to our expectations. Average friendly service in an extremely loud setting (definitely not the place for a relaxed lunch). We ordered the tomato salad, the schnitzel, and the pancakes. The first two were a complete let down, and had absolutely no taste. The pancakes were extremely fluffy, and slightly saved the day, although still lacking in a creme anglaise or something to balance the dryness of the almonds. All in all, the dishes are esthetically pleasing, but do not deliver in taste. We would not return.

I am sad to write this review, but the food at this place has deteriorated beyond belief. When I first visited in 2024, it used to have a really great menu, fair portions and good flavour. The last time I visited I was disappointed but I thought I’d give it another chance. The service is slow and chaotic now, the menu is limited, the food is low quality and completely tasteless. It’s very poor value for money and I would strongly recommend people go elsewhere. The city has so many great spots for brunch and sadly this place is no longer one of them!

Although it was Monday noon, the restaurant was almost full, thankfully we had made a reservation. It's a brunch restaurant inside a monument park. The space is bright and beautiful, and the service is excellent and friendly. I ordered the Benny Girl, which was fresh and delicious, especially the mashed potato sticks! I also ordered the banana offal French toast, which I think is the best French toast I've ever had—crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, served with banana cream and sweet and savory toffee slices. So delicious!!! I highly recommend it for gatherings with family and friends, dates, and since it's next to a large park, it's also suitable for families with children. 👍

I’ve been coming here for years and it has always been one of my favorite places in Amsterdam. Unfortunately, I’m genuinely disappointed by the recent changes. The “Benny Boy” has basically become a “Benny Girl” the portion size has been cut in half while the price has gone up. I understand that prices have increased everywhere in Amsterdam, but this honestly feels like a rip-off. What disappoints me even more is the food quality. The dishes used to be so flavorful and memorable, which is why I kept coming back and brought so many friends and visitors here. Now everything feels bland and lacks the taste that made this place special. And then there’s the service. It has always been on the slower side, but before it was easy to overlook because the food was outstanding. Now, with smaller portions, higher prices, and less impressive food, the slow service stands out even more. I honestly don’t understand why there seem to be only two waiters serving the entire restaurant. Looking through the recent reviews, it seems I’m not the only loyal customer who feels this way. It’s such a shame because this used to be my go-to place and somewhere I would always recommend to others. Sadly, that’s no longer the case. I really hope management listens to the feedback and brings back what made this place so special.

Some of the waiters were very kind (some not at all), but overall the service was quite terrible. Long waits and several mistakes were made (forgotten orders) for which no compensation was offered. The food was bland, the poached egg was overcooked and cold, and the 5 euro halloumi add on with the (already far overpriced) dish was embarrassingly small. We'd been previously, and although the service was poor then too, at least the food had been good. Won't be coming back after this time.. What a shame for such a nice location.

Very disappointing experience: the place has changed a lot in Menu options, service and food quality. We waited 45min to get our meals, the food was very average and many menu items were removed and honestly not good new options were added. Don’t recommend anymore. Only positive thing the waiter was very kind and apologizing all time.

Unfortunately the worst place we have visited for breakfast in Amsterdam. I really don’t understand the queues there as the food is just average. There are much better options in Ams. We had reservation at 12:30, and even our table was already free, we couldn’t sit few minutes earlier (? What a nonsense), while people without reservation could sit straight away. The waitress was quite rude and had a bad vibe. We were waiting sooo long for food and for receipt.

I used to come here a lot, I had a couple of favorite dishes. I visited today again, first time after a long time.. They changed the menu and the dish i ordered (basil ricotta eggs) lacked taste, and definitely seemed like it was done with less eggs than mentioned in the menu. Also the coffee had no character, it was ordinary.. disappointed

Sent away two days in a row because “we have a lot of reservations later and we only have one server today”—well done, really, when you have a whole garden and restaurant full of tables! Scandalous..

Great food! But interesting to find it. I would say a little trigger warning would be nice since it’s in the Holocust Museum Courtyard. The service took a while but the food was incredible. I don’t even like pancakes and they were to die for.

When we came here, the view was amazing and we were really excited to get a table. They gave us a table very quickly, which got our hopes up about the food and general speed of service, but after we sat down, it took about 40 minutes for someone to come and get our order which was already worrying, seeing how slow the service actually was, we ordered the food along with the drinks, we got our drinks after about ten minutes, then waited another hour for our food…and the food was mediocre at best. If you want a nice view and atmosphere, this is the place for you (but do please take this as a warning about the speed and food) but if you want a decent meal…? Don’t waste your time and go get better breafast.

We visited for breakfast and the place itself was absolutely beautiful and charming. The coffee was okay, and the host at the entrance was extremely polite and welcoming. However, the service was unfortunately very slow, and our food took more than 45 minutes to arrive. We ordered: Benny Boy Indian Summer Pancake The Benny Boy arrived cold and lacked seasoning. As for the Indian Summer Pancake, it came with only a very light dressing on top and no syrup or dressing, which made the pancake feel very dry and difficult to eat, no one should have to eat dry pancakes. We had to ask separately for syrup since none was provided, and we were charged extra for it, even though syrup would normally be expected to come with the pancake.

We were really disappointed with our visit. We ordered our food and waited 45 minutes, while two other couples who came after us got their food and left. We won’t be coming back.

First of all I made a reservation for brunch but when arrived staff couldn’t find it in the system (even though they sent me confirmation day before which I showed them). Second of all, service was very slow with taking the order but also checking with us if we want more drinks. Third of all, they didn’t allow us to switch the tables (the initial table they gave us was under the sun and it was 30 degrees that day). The idea of making a reservation is that you get better table than walkins. Lastly, the food was very average for outrageous price. Better stay at home and buy food at Albert heijn. You will be better off.

Very nice place and a tasty food

Came here this morning and had a really disappointing experience. We were seated at a terrible table where the chair was way too low and the table too high – super uncomfortable to eat at, not that we even got to eat. We sat for 20 minutes and no one came to take our order or even acknowledge us. Meanwhile, multiple customers who arrived after us were served right away. We literally had the giant menu sitting on our table the whole time – a clear sign we hadn't ordered yet – but still got completely ignored. Honestly, it felt like there could be discrimination against us as Asians. Hard to ignore when everyone else gets service except you. We ended up leaving without eating. I've been here before, and the food is mid and overpriced af. Won't be back and won’t recommend. You could find better and much cheaper brunches in Amsterdam - which was exactly what we did after we left.

I have made it a tradition to visit Dignita Hoftuin once a year during my travels over the last four years, and I have watched the restaurant evolve. While the quality and taste of the food remain genuinely good, I’ve noticed a gradual decline in the portion sizes and the variety of the menu offerings. This year, for example, we ordered the chicken schnitzel. With absolutely no offense intended to the kitchen team, the portion was simply too small for the price. Additionally, the service seems to have gotten progressively slower with each passing year. It’s a bit of a pity, as I still fondly remember my first visits four years ago when the tradeoff between quality, quantity, and service was absolutely amazing. I understand and I know that changes like this can be a normal trend in the industry, but I wanted to share this feedback with both the restaurant management and other diners in the spirit of constructive criticism. It's still a lovely spot, but it has lost a bit of that initial magic.

Probably the best food place we visited while in Amsterdam. While you can eat outside, the whole restaurant is surrounded in glass walls which really lets the light shine through (without making it too open either, as the place is located inside some kind of cloister). The eggs were perfectly done, and service was impeccable.

The stuff was extremely inattentive. We had to wait 30 minutes before the orders were taken (despite we had a reservation). The food took another 30 minutes to arrive and things were missing. We had to ask the stuff not once, not twice, but three times before the missing orders arrived. When asked about it, the young lady with round glasses and tattoos gave us a sassy and unapologetic reply. No apologies or compensation were offered. Otherwise, it's a nice place.

Pleasant place for a summer day. I like the fully glass walls giving it good vibes. Staff was friendly and the food was served fast. Menus available in English and Dutch. Food was ok. Price follows the location and Amsterdam standards. They have tables inside and outside, good for food or drinks only.

Both locals and tourists enjoy Digita Hotuin. Wonderful place with delicious brunch options and desserts selection. The open garden is another beautiful addition to the site! Love it!

This is everything wrong with the food scene in Amsterdam. Extremely overpriced, tiny, flavorless dishes with no inspiration. We were in a party of 8 on a Sunday. It took 1:30h to get our dishes, which were not good at all. I had a crisp that tasted like nothing, paid 5 euros for the thinnest piece of halloumi in history on a bland, miniature sandwich. Our coffees also arrived lukewarm to cold. We paid 5 euros for a mini coca cola. Staff were friendly, but service was really slow unfortunately. We noticed that no one around us was being served food either. Overall, I do not understand the hype about this place. Beautiful location though, you are basically paying for the location and atmosphere.

The location is a bit far and the garden's twists and turns can be a little confusing, but you really must come! The place is amazing, the breakfast is delicious, and the coffee—I ordered a flat white—was perfectly balanced.

🪑 Setting - This café's biggest asset is its location in the "secret" courtyard, an oasis in the city. There's a lovely terrace, but you can also sit on the lawn (a few picnic tables and benches are available). We were there on a warm Saturday around 3 p.m., and there was just enough room for two people. 🧑‍🍳 Service - Nothing to complain about, but not exceptional either. 🥗 Food - A nice menu with slightly different dishes or classic dishes with a twist. I tried the peach pancakes, which were delicious. 🍹 Drinks - A wide selection, including homemade creations. I thought the pandan and vanilla iced coffee (a limited-time special) was absolutely disgusting, but my dining companion enjoyed it. Then I had the iced matcha mango, which I enjoyed. 🌱 Dietary requirements - Plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. 🚽 Facilities - Clean restrooms, and there's also an indoor play area for small children. 💰 Value for money - I think the food and drinks are a bit expensive, but ultimately, you're paying for the location. It's a wonderful place to relax.

This restaurant is very beautiful

A very tasty lunch, with a great menu and delicious dishes. Even the things I hadn't ordered but saw passing by looked delicious. The place was packed; we were kind of lucky not to have a reservation, but we did get a table. Water was brought to the table immediately, and the service was quick and friendly. Highly recommended.

Great experience, great service

One of the worst breakfast places I’ve ever been in! The pancakes tastes of egg and onion! Any dessert items should be placed away from onions. The other things I ordered were also inedible. I never knew you could mess up making halloumi till I visited this place. Their coffee was fine. Also it’s very expensive for the service and food

Very nice ambience and service. Eggs Benedict with harsh browns very amazing. Same as the Asian-type sandwich with chicken.

I was pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food served here! I got the breakfast benny and a carrot cake and they were so good! The benedict is served on a potato hash and with avocado smash. The carrot cake was amazing and it was uniquely presented. Iced latte was amazing too!!! If I come back to amsterdam, I would love to visit again!
