Berensen in Centrum

This is a very cute eatery, The staff was very lovely and attentive even though it was busy and my cheese and ham toastie was delicious. Having said all of that and It’s a beautiful place that I would recommend. however, it is not the cheapest But on my visit, the quality back that up.

I really liked it. Stuffed Avocado sub is delicios. Very pleasant experience and friendly waiters, steep stairs to the wc might be a no-no for some.

Had lunch on the terrace today, and the service was very pushy. The lunch was awful: a schnitzel as fatty as bacon, with a small salad that had been ready for at least two days. The tomato soup was lukewarm, also awful. Not worth going back!

Very expensive and bad service. We had a beer outside, and we ordered a second round as it was their last call a few minutes before 6. After we got the second round they started building down the tables around us, turned of the heater and the lights right after we received our drinks. The price is also unreal, 4.80 euro for a regular 0.25cl beer.

Bad service, came back twice to ask what we had ordered for drinks, staff did not know which table they had taken, very expensive for what you get, the lettuce was very wilted, bread had tough crusts and croquettes were almost burnt

We go there regularly. The prices are a bit high, but hey... I find that in all restaurants these days. We love going there. The food is excellent, and the staff is always friendly. Nothing wrong with that!

We had a drink on the terrace while shopping...cozy. The carrot cake was delicious and from the Holtkamp bakery, which is known for its quality and delicious flavors. The service was friendly, but nothing more.

The food is super delicious! And the wait isn't too long either. Highly recommended.

We wanted to grab a coffee in Arnhem, outside, but covered. Berendsen is a nice, central spot in Arnhem with a lovely terrace. The coffee was definitely overpriced for the mediocre quality.

Lovely terrace with plenty of sun and shade, but unfortunately there's a €0.90 surcharge for oat milk (you can buy a whole carton for that) and no toilet on the ground floor. In fact, the stairs to the toilets are steep and narrow, making them not only impossible for wheelchair users but also for anyone with limited mobility.

'Bad vibes', a sum of bad downright unfriendly service (from several people) and a small cup of cappuccino for €5, which I didn't like as much. I never write a bad review, I'm making an exception now. There is enough room for improvement, hopefully that will work.

Before we continued shopping in Arnhem, we went here to eat something. The weather was very nice and then a terrace is nice. Everything was fine here, but no more than that. Standard service that only wants to order and bring and does not want to invest in 1 on 1.... well, you have that too! Boring!

We went there on Sunday afternoon. It was nice weather so we would like to sit outside. A bit busy there but still have seats outside at their terrace. There are menu for drinks and lunch at the table. So when waitress came by we can order immediately. We ordered drink and lunch. Tosti with salmon and bread with some meat (forgot the name) Not too long wait even they busy at lunch time, our foods arrived. Tosti with salmon and some cheese, nice and warm. Come with small bag of ketchup and small salad.I think it's yummy but my partner not think that. Bread with meat(I think it's pork) it's big pieces of bread come with meat and Sate sauce, topped with fried egg. Sided with small salad. Also nice and warm, well prepared. There are toilet inside restaurant that you can use. It's clean and free for customers. We enjoyed food there and sitting out for nice weather but what we didn't like is people smoking around. It's terrace so many people smoking while sitting there. I think it will be better at restaurant to have a smoke free terrace, at least can have zone for that. I do like sitting outside but hate smoke smell.

Carpaccio meal salad and hot meat sandwich highly recommended. Always fun there!

Berensen Arnhem We had a lovely time on the terrace in the spring sunshine, early March. It was fantastic. Young, efficient service, delicious drinks. A great spot in Arnhem's city center.

This morning we thought we would have a nice cup of coffee. The terrace is always packed here, so it must be good, right...? Ordered a coffee and added a cake. My glass had not yet been empty or they were already at the table, can I take the empty glass with me? Eh.......🤔 It wasn't that it was very busy at 11 o'clock. When one was put in, I had to immediately clear the table when I went to pee with our daughter. Again it was still not busy. And then..... Then I went to pay and had a heart attack. What an expensive tent. Apple pie: €5.70?! Red velvet: €6.10. Almost should have been made of gold. In any case, we will NEVER go there again. And I would advise everyone to go one step further. We hope that the people we advised to go elsewhere enjoyed their stay with their neighbors!

Quite good place to have breakfast but the staff is a bit rude and if you take your breakfast inside while crowded it can get pretty annoying as there is a lot of echo.

Croquette sandwich. Croquette was fried too long. Bun was soft and too much baking powder. Not a second time for us…

Full inside, so sit on the terrace. In itself a good place and heaters have been installed under the parasol, so it is doable. There was a lack of atmosphere here. Fancy a snack and a drink, but what a very pricey menu. When I order a brie sandwich for 11.50, I expect something from it. But alas, the honey could not be found. A glass of soft drink for €3.90 is also absurd. Fries and croquette were dripping with fat and overcooked. Luckily I was with good company which made it worth it, but I won't be back.

I fully identify with the negative reviews here. Ridiculous prices for substandard food and drinks! How dare you charge ten euros for a portion (ten pieces) of the lowest quality factory bitterballen (you could even call it bitterballen, never seen such small ones before). The fat dripped out. Which was extra difficult because there were no napkins. Apple pie, same story. Very mediocre, I think even from the freezer. The piece was on the small side. And simply ask for more than six euros (including whipped cream). We received the coffees (lattes) quickly, but they were really very lukewarm. How? Were they already there or was the milk not heated long enough? It is really incomprehensible that if you are in such a beautiful place in the center of Arnhem, you would run a catering tent. Adjust your prices to the level of your kitchen, or think about delivering value for money. But this doesn't make sense. I also post bad reviews, but I just had to say this. Also one of the only times that I reported this to the waitress on the spot. The plus point is that the staff is friendly and fast.

We arrived at 4 p.m. and were asked what we wanted to drink and whether we wanted to eat something. We ordered drinks, unfortunately we could only choose from the drinks menu. It would have been very nice if we had said this before we ordered our drinks. Not very customer friendly, we had the feeling that we were being swept out, which is a shame

Lovely place for a Coffee or Beet between a Shopping Tour through Arnhem! Tasty food and drinks! Service could be more friendly. Service make an annoyed impression and it takes a long time to be served or get your bill.

If you wait patiently, it's a great place. Latte was unfortunately lukewarm. Toilet not very fresh. Only enjoyed a drink, nothing more. Service not bad but not very friendly either.

On Saturday, while doing some shopping in Arnhem, we thought we would have a nice sandwich at Berensen. The terrace was full and I thought it was a good tent and had found a spot. I placed the order. Prices for a loaf of bread were quite pricey, but then you expect something.... the order was a Carpaccio sandwich and a homemade tuna sandwich. 2 cokes all for almost 35 euros 😮 you get a cheap Turkish sandwich that was also dry and literally everything was just thrown on it. price and quality were far apart. For 13.50 euros per sandwich you can expect a bit more. waitress asked if it tasted, she answered honestly..... response yes, that is possible.. WE WILL NEVER COME HERE AGAIN!!!!! it's not worth a single star. Gave 1 star otherwise you can't rate it!!!

Inviting terrace and friendly people. Unfortunately, the rosé and appetizers were disappointing. Rosé is somewhat acidic and less quality. After the garnish you are left with greasy fingers (is grease OK?) and no napkins. The quality of the garnish is basic supermarket and for 16 euros you expect a little more

With my ability to save money because I worked in the hospitality industry for a long time and see some reviews that it is so expensive, people shouldn't complain, they have a card with the prices and then blame the business afterwards? And then about the closing time if there is nothing to do, the owners decide whether they close earlier and not be negative afterwards, but just say it and not through the reviews, that says more about the people who are negative. I have been coming there for a long time. What a bad tent. We wanted to order bitterballen on Monday at 4.45 pm, the kitchen was already closed. While they are open until 6 p.m., it says on the site. They came to pay at 5 p.m. because they closed an hour earlier due to the warm weather. Girl said we've been working since 9 o'clock and we're hot. It doesn't matter that the terrace is still almost completely full and is being sent away. Oh yes and the owner's response to this review is.....thanks for the review

At a quarter to 5 you can't order anything anymore because they close at 6 o'clock 😭

Got dead beer. If I wanted a new one. -Yes please. But the barrel was probably out of carbon dioxide so it probably wouldn't get any better. Awkward silence.. Then the question is of course -what do you propose, Mr. Waiter? -Yes we do have other beer. - okay for the same price? - Yes, that's true. - beer really smelled of spoilage and was undrinkable. Jack Daniels with coke was only possible with 'unknown scotch for 4.50 per glass' which I had no idea but it tasted nice. Ice was not included. We asked for it but it took so long that after asking again we decided to leave it alone. The appetizers were extremely poor with fried worm-shaped something and air-filled spring rolls for 10 euros. When we wanted to pay we were asked if we were in a hurry?? It was a fun experience, we still laugh about it sometimes, but we will never do it again.

Fantastic place to drink a nice cup of coffee or have a delicious lunch, delicious sandwiches! There is a nice terrace where you have a good overview of the busy square in the center. Highly recommended.

A really great place to have a delicious lunch or something to drink in the atmosphere of the city center. The owner recognizes us every time and always comes for a quick chat. Food tastes great and is beautifully presented and presented on the plate. The specialty coffees (ice coffee, caramel latte, etc.) are also delicious!

Food is really expensive and not even good. Boards are chipped too. Got the Ghoulash soup and taste straight out of those unix soup packages. Would not recommend…

2 drinks and 2x croquettes with bread. Would be about traditional croquettes with traditional bread. The result was the simplest croquettes without an ounce of meat and indeed ancient (stale) bread (just white sandwiches from the Plus?) That's fine if you were to pay a normal price for this, but if you consider that you would pay the equivalent of 75 guilders for this today, people would have laughed at you at the beginning of this century. Next time we'll go to Apollo again :) Service was friendly and very fast (a bit too fast).

Full place around lunch time. My friend's healthy sandwich was a tough roll without sauce. Ordered tuna toast on white bread, received it on brown bread with a disappointed look from the waitress. The tuna salad was the worst ever. Not spicy, no onion or pickle, just mayonnaise and tuna. In short: not tasty.

Two cups of coffee: fine 2 warm (rock hard) brie/goat cheese sandwiches with a little lettuce of moderate quality.. All together for 30 €, bit very expensive

I don't often post negative reviews on Google, but this one caught my attention. At a time when it is very common to have multiple alternatives for vegetarians and vegans, it seems obvious to me that there is also at least one gluten-free option. To my great surprise, that is not the case with Berensen, not an option at all. And when asked whether omitting parts of a dish creates more options, we did not receive a clear answer. The most annoying thing was that on the menu there is a symbol for gluten-free in the legend, without that symbol appearing anywhere else. Apart from that, the atmosphere is good, and despite the crowds, the service was quick to take and deliver our order.

Leuke plek, en prima bediening. Maar het eten wil ik afraden. Het broodje geitenkaas was erg slecht. Ook was friet niet goed: slap, smakeloos en gewoon vies. Dus ik zou iedereen aanraden hier alleen iets te drinken. Ga ergens anders eten.

Hier lekker geluncht, werden gelijk geholpen en de broodjes waren heerlijk. Bediening is erg aardig en het eten was erg lekker. Ook een mooie locatie lekker in de schaduw met het warme weer.

A good spot looking out onto the cross roads of the small streets. The service is fast and kind and the coffee very nice. Great spot to sit and relax and people watch.

I was a little reserved in my opinion due the rather basic and traditional Dutch lunch menu, but I quickly found out that the quality is excellent. Very tasty preparations, somehow just a tad better than most cafe / lunch rooms I've been to and served with a smile (rather speedy too). The chocolate milkshake was a delight as well. Happily recommend this place.
