Tipped as the best eierbal in Groningen, it didn't disappoint. Definitely order at the counter instead of pulling it from the vending machine (applies to everything, by the way), so it comes fresh out of the fryer.

Time and time and time and time again, nothing comes out of the machine after payment, and you receive treatment from the staff that even an attacker sentenced to life imprisonment could rightfully file a complaint about. I understand that it is unpleasant work to do at night, but surely there is some humanity? I beg you: if you are out in Groningen, walk a little further to grab a bite to eat.

The tall white guy working today at around 3-4am today (9th August) made racist comments and physically assaulted me today. But, looking at the reviews it doesn't look like yall care about the quality of service nor the food.

Cold egg in a layer of potato curry ragout. Cold egg, not tasty. According to the wait staff, you have to wait to eat until the egg warms up.

Not a culinary masterpiece, but more than fine when you leave the pub.

Chicken burgers are damn expensive

Okay so this is a Groningen classic. I've eaten here countless times and never had a problem. Obviously the food tastes like vending machine food but that's the point. Honestly, I was surprised to see the reviews so low, because I've never heard anything negative about this place. My tip: pay by card, and grab your food ASAP. Don't wait around. However, I do rank service 3/5 because last time I was here the service desk guy nabbed my burger from the machine just as I paid for it. But I still managed to get a burger next to it. Just a bit rude to grab it right from under me.

I often wait a very long time there, and often get no results. I have now experienced multiple times ordering something with my last money, finding it isn't there, and being rudely rejected with "it will be refunded to your account." I don't call this customer service, and I find it absolutely crazy that you take customers' last money only to refund it later. I am hearing this regularly around me now, so I think this has happened quite a few times.

The staff was very unfriendly and pushy. The vegetarian options would take too long, so you couldn't choose those. I do not recommend this place.

The manager was extremely rude, aggressive in tone, disrespectful, and unnecessarily shouting while speaking to customers. There was absolutely no reason for such behavior, and it was honestly shocking to experience this level of hostility from someone running the business. Despite being treated badly, I remained calm and chose not to argue because situations like this can easily escalate unnecessarily. However, customers should never have to tolerate being shouted at or disrespected simply for ordering food. What makes this even more concerning is that after reading previous reviews, I realized this is clearly not an isolated incident. Multiple customers have already mentioned similar experiences regarding rude and aggressive behavior from management. This shows that the issue has been ongoing for quite some time and is still not being addressed. I strongly hope this feedback is taken seriously. Professionalism, basic respect, and proper customer behavior are essential in any business. No customer deserves to be shouted at or treated disrespectfully while simply trying to enjoy a meal.

The pizzas were bland. There was plenty of topping, though. Not really recommended.

A must-visit in the Netherlands 😉 They always have fresh food inside, and it's delicious. Plus, you can order fries at the counter.

Had food poisoning from the egg ball several times... otherwise everything is fine, but one really needs to watch out for it.

That's a great snack vending machine! You just can't complain. Very cool, even if the payment process was a bit bumpy and most of the drawers didn't accept cash. Nevertheless, I can highly recommend the Joppieburger! A few more veggie options would have been nice! I'd gladly come again. 🥧

Very unfriendly and no good products.

I came to try the famous Eierbar in Groningen. It tasted exactly like bitterballen with eggs, and the egg balanced the saltiness of the bitterballen, making it delicious. If you ever visit Groningen, it's worth trying!

I tried to explain that the wall wasn't working, meaning I'd lost my money without receiving any food. The man at the cash register refused to help and told me I was a scammer without receiving any help, even though I paid without receiving my food. Poor service and, above all, terrible food.

Tried eierbal here for the first time, it was delicious, I sat on the train for 2 hours and it was worth it, the staff is also friendly and there is a good atmosphere

Worker there was very rude, understandable that I can’t bring my beer in but a polite no that’s not allowed here would’ve been great, but no arrogance and rudeness were met. “Get out of here, that’s not a question”

It is a snack bar with a snack wall in the city center.

Getting super grumpy when you point out that the flap won't open even though you've paid... “Yes, you’ll get that back in your account, that’s a check,” even giving you a special card stating that it will be refunded. Well, after 3 weeks, I received NOTHING back. Easy money for them this way; 9 out of 10 people forget about it and do nothing about it. But they just happily add all those extra ‘incorrect’ payments to their account. So you end up paying €6 for a snack instead of €3. Gross, done with these kinds of weird practices...

By far the best place in Groningen

Good atmosphere, tasty egg ball even at 12 o'clock. Also injured a homeless guy with a chicken burger.

Normally, I'm very pleased with this Toko. Normally, the quality is good. Unfortunately, this time I paid but didn't receive a burger. When I pointed this out to the staff, I was rudely dismissed and ignored. That's why I'm so surprised.

Dirty scammers. No snack comes from the machine and would be refunded. You will never get this refunded. Don't visit this filthy place.

Excellent price/quality ratio, but at very quiet times there is a chance that you will get a reheated snack, which is a shame. The staff is present and can assist customers if necessary, but they are not very hospitable or friendly. People prefer that you pull something out of the wall so that they can continue watching their series undisturbed. The location is of course without atmosphere.

What a nice owner! Very hospitable. The egg ball, our first, was really tasty. And the cheese souffle, bami slice, croquette and fries were also of super good, fresh quality. That's what you'll come back for!

After two hours of traveling there and back, of course, we visited Cafeteria Snack Hoek next to the Christmas market. Excellent egg ball. Was delicious. Also nice and easy to remove from the wall.

The only raison d'être is the location. If another place is open, that will probably make you happier

My brother had paid for something in the wall but had not received anything, he asked a male staff member who works there if it could be resolved but that man did not appreciate it and was super disrespectful in return. I went back 5 minutes later with my sister who wanted to ask what was going on and the man who works there was super disrespectful and absolutely did not want to help us. Had terribly bad service this evening.

I wanted to get a croquette sandwich from the wall, when I paid and opened one I discovered that there was only a paper package in it. I went to the cash register to ask. Was treated very unfriendly and he didn't want to do anything for my bad service.

Helped by a very friendly Surinamese gentleman. The egg ball was delicious, much tastier than in Delfzijl. The fries were crispy and delicious, but the icing on the cake was the friendly employee. I will come here more often!

Great hamburger for the price, can bunker out of the wall

I wanted a Mexicano and they didn't want to give me that, then they came out of the store and they fought hard against it. This makes me feel very unsafe while I'm trying to get a nice sandwich. It's also my Sunday evening and I want to keep it as normal as possible. That's not possible here👎👎👎. I feel intimidated.

I always come here to get something from the wall, but I accidentally opened the wrong box (very stupid, I know) and the best man behind the counter definitely didn't want to give me anything. This was the last time for me if this is the service.

The gentleman during the day is a great legend. I'm coming been here since I lived in the Poelestraat, that is almost 3 years ago. Every Thursday morning my housemate and I are welcomed with open arms and when I return in the evening that is still the case. It feels like coming home here and I wouldn't want to miss it.

Wall is broken, got charged for nothing then told that what happened was "impossible". Clearly. To those who have also been scammed, chargebacks are really annoying to deal with, beyond the actual amount.

Today we went to the cafeteria snack corner. A whole new, fun experience for the children. Very friendly man behind the counter. He introduced our two children to the egg ball. Greetings from Enschede! And certainly see you next time!

At any time - whether day or night - you can access it and choose something! Ambience not exactly cozy, but helpful if you're hungry or thirsty in between!

The biggest scammers out there. Staff just says there is nothing they can do. Make thousands of euros more in year 10 without handing over a product. Customer makes a mistake by paying 3 euros instead of 2.50 euros, staff cannot give 50 cents back, but the next customer gets 50 cents benefit and that 100 times in one evening times 52 weeks is a lot of money. They are pure scammers and criminals.

Excellent vending machine, for an vending machine there is a lot of choice in terms of hamburger sandwiches. And egg balls are of course 5 stars.

Paid twice to remove something from the wall, but the flap did not open and the money was debited. This was indicated to staff. But I didn't get anything from him. He tells me that the money will simply be refunded if the lid does not open. So happens more often. Now it is 5 weeks later and of course no refund yet. Nice revenue model

The best man bakes them brown and delicious. Fast service. Lots of sauce and fries for one portion.

Fish and chips in London, crepe in Paris, tapas in Madrid… Eierbal in Groningen! An absolute must for every egg lover and chicken fan. Delicious, but unfortunately not the best in the truest sense of the word. I would still get something there again at any sign of hunger.

The door wouldn't open so I showed my bank statement, then I was scolded and shouted at at the counter. I don't understand why these people were hired

I received no compensation when I got nothing out of the wall after 11 euros. The counter is very unfriendly. I'll never come here again.

Paid but flap did not open. Then tried again, but again not open. Paid twice for nothing. Was an expensive burger. If you say something about it, they won't believe you. This tent is hilarious.

Terrible tent. I tried to get a sandwich out of those flaps, but it wouldn't open. I walk to the counter, they don't believe me. When asked a few times and showed my bank account, the guy just walked away. Normally all drunk people come here, so I understand that they are a bit more direct, but I had come home from work very sober and wanted something to eat. I think that white guy around 25-30 with that stupid goatee should be fired immediately.

Heerlijke eierballen!!! Afgelopen zaterdag eens even lopen snacken daar! En dan ook nog kennisgemaakt met supergezellige Daniel!! Voor een lekker vette bek, haal je bij Daniel een snack!!!

Als toerist kom je hier vermoedelijk voor de befaamde Groninger eierbal. Aan het 'loket' besteld waarna het allemaal wat sloom ging maar uiteindelijk de nieuwsgierigheid naar dit 'gerecht' kunnen stillen. Kwa smaak / structuur lijkt het op een kroket met een soort mosterd smaak in de korst en uiteraard een gekookt hard ei in het midden. De sfeer is niet van toepassing, die doe je enkele stappen naar het plein vanzelf weer op.

Ich fands total ok. Der Automat ist Kult! Die Pommes könnten innen etwas mehr durch sein, aber knusprig sind sie. Gehört zum Holland-Trip dazu!

Lekkere snackbar, eigenaar is erg vriendelijk. We moesten de eierbal proeven en die is echt aan te raden!

Top eierbal. Super krokante korst en een warm ei van binnen. Prima prijs van € 3. Ook hebben ze de pikante versie, de feierbal, maar daar heb ik me nog niet aan gewaagd.

Net als bij velen in de reviews ging het ook bij mij mis met de snackmuur, waarbij een vak open ging (al raar, maar goed) zonder iets erin. Werd door een ietwat chagrijnige medewerker overigens wel netjes opgelost, maar dit moet niet kunnen. Kroket was wel uitstekend gebakken.

Ik had een patatje met het heilge trio besteld (curry mayo pindasaus) en uitjes om het even af te toppen. Het patatje was zalig maar die pinda was matig en leek op baby diaree. Overigens is het wel goed gemaakt door die koning achter de balie die mijn delletje zalig heeft gefrituurd. De mexicano was ook erg lekker groetjes de jonge god

Ik geef niet snel twee sterren, maar de kwaliteit is echt ondermaats. De patat is niet helemaal gaar en echt heel erg zout. Kroket prima. Frikadel speciaal dan weer ver ondermaats. Wel vriendelijk geholpen, maar achter de balie gescheld op elkaar ('Maak nou die k*t frikandel speciaal klaar!'). Niet professioneel. Geen aanrader!

Nuchter smaakt het allemaal een stuk minder dan om 4 uur 's ochtends. Als de muur hapert en je wel betaalt maar niks krijgt heb je hier pech, die kerels binnen boeit het niet en als ze zeggen dat het geld teruggestort wordt kun je ernaar fluiten. Toch 3 sterren voor m'n eierballetjes.
