Amazing Thai food very close to Amsterdam central. Service was quick and kind enough to replace the dish when we accidentally ordered the wrong curry.

Excellent establishment. Service was quite fast. The food was delicious. We spent two days in Amsterdam and didn't regret visiting this restaurant. I recommend it to everyone!

Bird is known for authentic Thai food, so I was curious. I ordered pad Thai and green curry. The pad Thai was too sweet and sticky, lacking any fresh acidity. The green curry tasted mostly of coconut cream and lacked any spice or complexity. Everything was very mild and seasoned. Not a bad meal, but disappointing if you're expecting authentic Thai flavors.

Portions are smaller than before. But still delicious, as always.

I came because a friend recommended me the place and she couldn't give a better recommendation. The food IS increíble, the place is beautiful and the service very nice. Would repeat and recommend.

I’m a regular customer and live on the same street, so I order takeaway from here quite often because I really like the food. Unfortunately my last order was disappointing. The takeaway containers were noticeably smaller than before and the portion felt much reduced. I paid €21.20 for a Pad Thai with prawns and received only two prawns, which didn’t feel like good value. I understand rising costs, but as a loyal customer this change was surprising. I hope this feedback is taken on board, as I’d like to keep ordering from here.

Amazing food, I had the Koeng Makhaam. It was the most delicious dish I've ever eaten in my life, and I worked in the restaurant industry for years. Music was excellent, it created a beautiful vibe, the decor was also stunning. Service was impeccable, the waitress was incredible. Funny, amazing, best company in the world. We were a group of 7 and we had the best time. Perfect place to go to when you want delicious food and to feel welcome and at home. Would recommend 10/10

We were recommended this place by our tour guide, who said it was the best Thai restaurant in the city. I'm not sure if he was right, but the food was delicious, although we ordered one of the spicy dishes and it was really, really spicy. We went without a reservation and didn't have to wait long to be seated. I would definitely go back. They do have stairs, which isn't the most accessible if you're pushing a stroller, but there weren't many and you can manage.

Relative to my standards as a Seattlelite (USA), with access to pretty damn good Thai food: this place was mid at best. In Seattle, none of the dishes we had (tom kha, pork larb, and pad Thai) would be acceptable, quality-wise. Portions were good value.

A big bottle of water (1L) costs 7.5€. The green curry is at best mediocre. Go to to Phu Thai Thai near by, cheaper and 10 times better

The meat was wonderfully tender, the vegetables fresh and pleasantly crisp. The portions are generous. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, you truly can’t go wrong here.

Nice authentic restaurant Thai staff, frequent visitors. It was a bit more expensive than the Thai food I'm used to, but worth it. The food tasted really good, and they had all the dishes. I had a Penang curry with beef. The beef was nice and tender, and the curry was excellent. I'd never had lychees in it before. It was very tasty with fresh vegetables and herbs. My wife had pork with white pepper sauce. Delicious. She said the somtam was also delicious. The restaurant is authentically decorated and has a really old-fashioned feel, with paintings and dolls and such. Wooden benches. Baby-friendly. A very good experience. My wife says it's only better in Thailand, so I'll save the 5 stars 😉

Delicious food. Highly recommended.

Food is good, but when we were finished eating we were asked twice if we wanted anything else, and prompted twice to go to the cashier to pay. They also started cleaning and plating the table for the next round already. Finally, we had to pick up our stuff while the next round group was already taking a seat at our table. We only sat there for some 5-10 minutes after eating.

So good to be back at the epic Bird.

Not authentic Thai food. Stir fry basil: too salty with long beans Tom yam: loaded with mushroom, no seafood, chicken wasnt marinated. Kang Phed Ped Yang: Ped was not yang. Cream forward. It was just not right Great service tho

Restaurant located in Chinatown. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. They don't take reservations, but it's a large restaurant with a high turnover. The wait in line is short and they move it very quickly.

Beef Thai salad had no salad but celery ?

Very good food and atmosphere was just great

The benches aren't exactly comfortable, but they look stylish and are really spacious inside. The food was fantastic! The appetizer, the Thai chicken satay, was incredible! The fried chicken with mango/pineapple and the sweet and sour chicken were both very good! Unfortunately, we didn't have enough rice, and extra rice cost €3. The total cost was about €50 for two people.

We had the most beautiful meal here last night. We ordered a number 5, 39, 83 and fried rice to share. On arrival the restaurant was packed, but we were offered a drink whilst waiting in line. Had a lovely Mai Tai! The staff were friendly and service was quick. Thoroughly enjoyed, we have not stopped talking about how good it was!

An amazing place! The energy of the staff is unique. The food is abundant and delicious. I went for my birthday, and as a surprise, they sang Happy Birthday to me and gave me dessert. 😊 I highly recommend it.

Don't know how this place got a 4.2*. No tap water (don't know if it's the thing here in Amsterdam). I ordered a Pad Thai with shrimp. I got chicken instead. I ate like 1/10 of the dish and found out the Tofu was spoiled. I told them and they acted like they don't speak English. Not 1 apology nor offered to remake the dish, and charged me the full price for the dish. Price is expensive and crappy foods/service. I talked to the hotel receptionist and they said that's like the worse place I picked out of all those restaurants nearby.

The food at Thai Bird was excellent. The portions were very generous, I was full, and it was truly delicious. The selection is also enormous. Even in Amsterdam, I've eaten at higher prices. I'd love to come back!

This place has the best Thai food I’ve ever had! Everything from being seated until we walked out the door was 5 star. I can’t rave enough about it. I had the chicken with coconut milk and curry. It was so delicious! This would be a local hangout if I lived in the area. The best!!

NOT AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD! NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!!!! Was recommended by my tour guide to this Thai restaurant, saw the reviews were pretty okay so we decided to give it a try. The foods were disappointing. Tom yum soup that doesn’t taste like tomyum at all, more like spicy water. The fish cakes were so salty we couldn’t even finish it. The portion of the food was small and overall I don’t recommend this place at all. It’s been long time since I tasted this kind of bad Thai food. Have it at your own risk 🫣

🐦🍛 Delicious Thai food, but overpriced & hectic 💶🥤 The Bird Thais Restaurant in Amsterdam is rather small and unspectacular, but the food itself was really delicious and the portions were large. Unfortunately, the prices are quite high, especially for drinks – €3-4 for a small Coke is quite excessive. The staff is friendly, but you can tell they want you to pay quickly and make room after your meal. The interior is hectic, with lots of knick-knacks and beer bottles in the window as decoration 😂. Overall, the food is good, but the value for money isn't quite right.

The food was so good! And their Thai Ice Tea is the best Ice Tea I‘ve ever had.

The first night we arrived, we wanted to eat here, but a table was not available, and after waiting for over 15 minutes, we decided to leave. We tried to the following day, and we were seated after 10 minutes. We ordered the pad Thai and massaman curry (beef). I can confidently say that it was one of the best I’ve had. The curry was thick and fragrant. The meat was tender and tasty. The potatoes soft and tasteful. Everything was delicious! We had to come back again the following day since we enjoyed it so much. Be willing to wait some time for a table, but after you do, the experience will be worth it.

Food was good, service was fine until we had to pay. They asked for a tip, and when we said no she stopped being so nice. If people want to tip you, they will do it. Dont force them.

Pretty good, pad Thai and tom kha taste how it’s supposed to taste. Tom kha is mild on sourness. There’s no spice level so ask waiter for Thai chillis to add in (they have chilli powder and Thai chilli soaked in fish sauce).

A curry you can practically make yourself. No authentic vegetables, even though they (like the small eggplant) are readily available around the corner from the restaurant. It's a shame this place isn't what it used to be.

From the outside, it doesn't look very inviting. The line was very long; we stood for half an hour just to get a table for six. We also charged for the beer we ordered while waiting. The food was poorly seasoned but plentiful. The service was very hectic and unfriendly. The benches are quite uncomfortable, and the place is also packed and noisy. In general, I don't understand the hype and the recommendations.

This Thai restaurant has been a fixture in Amsterdam for years. It has plenty of seating and the service is prompt. The food is always delicious and the portions are generous. Reservations aren't accepted, but there's usually always room.

We visited this Thai restaurant based on a friend's recommendation, and it absolutely delivered. The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic. We can now confidently pass on that same recommendation!

My go-to Thai restaurant. They always manage to serve the food reasonably quick no matter how busy it is, which always impresses me. The portions are big, and the quality is good. They do not take reservations so you must be willing to wait if it’s busy. However, their “pin machine” always seems to break for lunch, then magically fixed for dinner! Very interesting….

The prawns with red curry was very delicious and the wait staff was very nice.

We had fond memories of this restaurant from a visit to Amsterdam a few years ago, so returned to it again this year. We were seated next to a small counter at the back of the restaurant. The person sitting on the counter was surreptitiously eating food in between his work. We thought he was doing some paperwork etc so didn’t care much, but realized later that he was handling clean plates being brought in to the restaurant! Our bigger problem was when we saw a server go behind the counter while serving, eat a couple of drumsticks, and start serving again without washing hands. We did not want to make a scene so told our server to request this person to stop eating while serving food. So much so for tact. This person soon came to our table and started screaming in broken English. I did not understand what she was saying, but the ruckus did bring the manager over to our table. I told her that about servers serving food with unclean hands while they themselves were eating. She insisted that while they do that (!), they change their gloves. They hadn’t. I suddenly realized there was a video camera over the counter. I told the manager that she could confirm if these employees had changed gloves. At this point, her attitude completely changed. She obviously knew this was going on. She started apologizing instead of confronting, and promptly offered us a free drink and desert. We refused, ate our already served food and left. We will not be returning, though I do hope the food safety inspectors pay this place a visit.

Well known Thai restaurant for a reason. The food is good, the service is particular. If you went there, you will know what I mean. They are not mean or kind, just in between. You need to know how to act with them and you will have no problem.

This was a cool stop! My grandmother was recommended this place by a friend and it was very yummy! The portions were pretty good I got a squid dish which was great! Lots of flavor. I also got Thai tea which was great because how can you go wrong with Thai tea. The atmosphere was super cool. Dark and moody with hanging planets and murals on the walls. I enjoyed it! Service was good our waiter was nice. I would recommend stopping here.

Staff super friendly, fresh and tasty food. I had the mixed veggies with cashew. Just loved it. The veggies were fresh and not overcooked. Very tasty. Also the iced lemon tea, just the right thing for a hot day.

I found what we ordered mediocre; the duck wasn't very tender and far too salty for my taste. I found the set menu a bit sparse. The staff was friendly, though.

This restaurant is a true Amsterdam classic. Right in the heart of Chinatown, you'll find delicious Asian flavors. Always a pleasure to visit.

Dishes can be split... they serve 2 people

Never had Thai food before, but it was my first time. I enjoyed the Tom ka kan soup and the chicken with walnuts. It was a popular restaurant, so it was very busy. It was a shame that empty glasses and plates were cleared away as soon as someone finished. It became a bit rushed and messy. There was a line outside, but it took a long time before we could pay the bill.

Huge disappointment! I got food: two soups and one serving of noodles with chicken. Really small portions, and the soup seemed like it was only for one person. I paid almost €40 for minimal, tasteless takeaway...

The food was delicious! The atmosphere felt like everything had to be done as quickly as possible. When we tried to order dessert, the answer we got was "no, not right now, it's too busy." It felt like we had to leave as quickly as possible, which wasn't very relaxing.

Great food but our table was pretty sad in the corner for 2. I think our waitress also forgot about us for a longggggg time. But good was pretty good!

In addition, the staff has also become extremely unpleasant; you can tell they are making money from tourists and no longer need to make quality food and respect their customers. Avoid absolutely. Best Thai restaurant in Amsterdam. My friend has already been here five years ago now he’s back. He said that is the best Thai restaurant and he has to bring us here to taste the authentic food. The food is very delicious. The staff were all so so nice and friendly. Great services. We will come back again real soon when we visit Amsterdam.

This restaurant is very busy so make sure you make a reservation. I love Thai food especially Pad Kha Pao, however this dish was not authentic, quite salty and too sauces like a soup. But our starter was very nice, we did not have much time in Amsterdam to revisit to try more dishes.

I'm always leery of anyplace in the red-light district, but I had heard good things about this place. Usually there is a line of people waiting but I got lucky. Really liked my Massaman Kai. Big pieces of chicken. Crowded and noisy. Attentive wait staff. Reasonably priced.

The only positive aspect was how easy it was to get a table — which can be rare in a busy city like Amsterdam. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. The dishes lacked depth and felt very basic; I couldn’t find the authentic Thai flavors I was hoping for. Presentation and taste were both underwhelming. In terms of value for money, it didn’t meet expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a quality Thai food experience.

Good food but spoiled by the behavior of a waitress at the end of the meal who was disrespectful to us. She broke a glass at our table but not a word of apology and what's more she looked down on us by retorting that this is Holland and not Thailand. I don't see the connection. I think this job doesn't suit her and should change it. The manager, on the other hand, was very kind and friendly. It's a shame.
