Service is good, attentive enough, though for payment one needs to travel to lower level. Food did not fully meet my expectation.

We had the most beautiful meal here last night. We ordered a number 5, 39, 83 and fried rice to share. On arrival the restaurant was packed, but we were offered a drink whilst waiting in line. Had a lovely Mai Tai! The staff were friendly and service was quick. Thoroughly enjoyed, we have not stopped talking about how good it was!

Didn’t expect much, but still ended up disappointed. The service was honestly like we were asking for free food. Only one girl with long hair was kinda okay not great, but at least not rude, which already made her the best one there. The older guy was literally swearing in Thai at foreign customers, even though he knew I’m Thai. Super disrespectful and made the whole vibe worse. When I went to pay, the woman with short hair and glasses (looked kinda tomboyish) didn’t even look at me just swiped my card, ripped the slip, and walked away. No “thank you,” no “do you want your receipt? nothing. Honestly, the worst Thai restaurant I’ve been to in any country. Food was like 5/10, service below zero. People in Amsterdam can definitely find way better places than this.

An amazing place! The energy of the staff is unique. The food is abundant and delicious. I went for my birthday, and as a surprise, they sang Happy Birthday to me and gave me dessert. 😊 I highly recommend it.

Don't know how this place got a 4.2*. No tap water (don't know if it's the thing here in Amsterdam). I ordered a Pad Thai with shrimp. I got chicken instead. I ate like 1/10 of the dish and found out the Tofu was spoiled. I told them and they acted like they don't speak English. Not 1 apology nor offered to remake the dish, and charged me the full price for the dish. Price is expensive and crappy foods/service. I talked to the hotel receptionist and they said that's like the worse place I picked out of all those restaurants nearby.

The food at Thai Bird was excellent. The portions were very generous, I was full, and it was truly delicious. The selection is also enormous. Even in Amsterdam, I've eaten at higher prices. I'd love to come back!

This place has the best Thai food I’ve ever had! Everything from being seated until we walked out the door was 5 star. I can’t rave enough about it. I had the chicken with coconut milk and curry. It was so delicious! This would be a local hangout if I lived in the area. The best!!

🐦🍛 Delicious Thai food, but overpriced & hectic 💶🥤 The Bird Thais Restaurant in Amsterdam is rather small and unspectacular, but the food itself was really delicious and the portions were large. Unfortunately, the prices are quite high, especially for drinks – €3-4 for a small Coke is quite excessive. The staff is friendly, but you can tell they want you to pay quickly and make room after your meal. The interior is hectic, with lots of knick-knacks and beer bottles in the window as decoration 😂. Overall, the food is good, but the value for money isn't quite right.

NOT AUTHENTIC THAI FOOD! NOT RECOMMENDED AT ALL!!!! Was recommended by my tour guide to this Thai restaurant, saw the reviews were pretty okay so we decided to give it a try. The foods were disappointing. Tom yum soup that doesn’t taste like tomyum at all, more like spicy water. The fish cakes were so salty we couldn’t even finish it. The portion of the food was small and overall I don’t recommend this place at all. It’s been long time since I tasted this kind of bad Thai food. Have it at your own risk 🫣

The food was so good! And their Thai Ice Tea is the best Ice Tea I‘ve ever had.

The first night we arrived, we wanted to eat here, but a table was not available, and after waiting for over 15 minutes, we decided to leave. We tried to the following day, and we were seated after 10 minutes. We ordered the pad Thai and massaman curry (beef). I can confidently say that it was one of the best I’ve had. The curry was thick and fragrant. The meat was tender and tasty. The potatoes soft and tasteful. Everything was delicious! We had to come back again the following day since we enjoyed it so much. Be willing to wait some time for a table, but after you do, the experience will be worth it.

Food was good, service was fine until we had to pay. They asked for a tip, and when we said no she stopped being so nice. If people want to tip you, they will do it. Dont force them.

The very best Thai food in the country! A delightful chaos, you can't turn around, but the food is always good! The fish cakes are an absolute must.

Friendly staff, nice prices and very very very tasty Tom Yam

Pretty good, pad Thai and tom kha taste how it’s supposed to taste. Tom kha is mild on sourness. There’s no spice level so ask waiter for Thai chillis to add in (they have chilli powder and Thai chilli soaked in fish sauce).

A curry you can practically make yourself. No authentic vegetables, even though they (like the small eggplant) are readily available around the corner from the restaurant. It's a shame this place isn't what it used to be.

From the outside, it doesn't look very inviting. The line was very long; we stood for half an hour just to get a table for six. We also charged for the beer we ordered while waiting. The food was poorly seasoned but plentiful. The service was very hectic and unfriendly. The benches are quite uncomfortable, and the place is also packed and noisy. In general, I don't understand the hype and the recommendations.

This Thai restaurant has been a fixture in Amsterdam for years. It has plenty of seating and the service is prompt. The food is always delicious and the portions are generous. Reservations aren't accepted, but there's usually always room.

Authentic experience and amazing food

Very good Thai restaurant in Chinatown, right next to the red light district. Served quickly, very good and very generous dishes.

We visited this Thai restaurant based on a friend's recommendation, and it absolutely delivered. The food was incredibly flavorful and authentic. We can now confidently pass on that same recommendation!

My go-to Thai restaurant. They always manage to serve the food reasonably quick no matter how busy it is, which always impresses me. The portions are big, and the quality is good. They do not take reservations so you must be willing to wait if it’s busy. However, their “pin machine” always seems to break for lunch, then magically fixed for dinner! Very interesting….

The prawns with red curry was very delicious and the wait staff was very nice.

We had fond memories of this restaurant from a visit to Amsterdam a few years ago, so returned to it again this year. We were seated next to a small counter at the back of the restaurant. The person sitting on the counter was surreptitiously eating food in between his work. We thought he was doing some paperwork etc so didn’t care much, but realized later that he was handling clean plates being brought in to the restaurant! Our bigger problem was when we saw a server go behind the counter while serving, eat a couple of drumsticks, and start serving again without washing hands. We did not want to make a scene so told our server to request this person to stop eating while serving food. So much so for tact. This person soon came to our table and started screaming in broken English. I did not understand what she was saying, but the ruckus did bring the manager over to our table. I told her that about servers serving food with unclean hands while they themselves were eating. She insisted that while they do that (!), they change their gloves. They hadn’t. I suddenly realized there was a video camera over the counter. I told the manager that she could confirm if these employees had changed gloves. At this point, her attitude completely changed. She obviously knew this was going on. She started apologizing instead of confronting, and promptly offered us a free drink and desert. We refused, ate our already served food and left. We will not be returning, though I do hope the food safety inspectors pay this place a visit.

Well known Thai restaurant for a reason. The food is good, the service is particular. If you went there, you will know what I mean. They are not mean or kind, just in between. You need to know how to act with them and you will have no problem.

This was a cool stop! My grandmother was recommended this place by a friend and it was very yummy! The portions were pretty good I got a squid dish which was great! Lots of flavor. I also got Thai tea which was great because how can you go wrong with Thai tea. The atmosphere was super cool. Dark and moody with hanging planets and murals on the walls. I enjoyed it! Service was good our waiter was nice. I would recommend stopping here.

Staff super friendly, fresh and tasty food. I had the mixed veggies with cashew. Just loved it. The veggies were fresh and not overcooked. Very tasty. Also the iced lemon tea, just the right thing for a hot day.

I found what we ordered mediocre; the duck wasn't very tender and far too salty for my taste. I found the set menu a bit sparse. The staff was friendly, though.

This restaurant is a true Amsterdam classic. Right in the heart of Chinatown, you'll find delicious Asian flavors. Always a pleasure to visit.

Dishes can be split... they serve 2 people

Never had Thai food before, but it was my first time. I enjoyed the Tom ka kan soup and the chicken with walnuts. It was a popular restaurant, so it was very busy. It was a shame that empty glasses and plates were cleared away as soon as someone finished. It became a bit rushed and messy. There was a line outside, but it took a long time before we could pay the bill.

They had to curry us away from what happened in there.

Huge disappointment! I got food: two soups and one serving of noodles with chicken. Really small portions, and the soup seemed like it was only for one person. I paid almost €40 for minimal, tasteless takeaway...

The food was good, but not particularly outstanding

The food was delicious! The atmosphere felt like everything had to be done as quickly as possible. When we tried to order dessert, the answer we got was "no, not right now, it's too busy." It felt like we had to leave as quickly as possible, which wasn't very relaxing.

Great food but our table was pretty sad in the corner for 2. I think our waitress also forgot about us for a longggggg time. But good was pretty good!

In addition, the staff has also become extremely unpleasant; you can tell they are making money from tourists and no longer need to make quality food and respect their customers. Avoid absolutely. Best Thai restaurant in Amsterdam. My friend has already been here five years ago now he’s back. He said that is the best Thai restaurant and he has to bring us here to taste the authentic food. The food is very delicious. The staff were all so so nice and friendly. Great services. We will come back again real soon when we visit Amsterdam.

This restaurant is very busy so make sure you make a reservation. I love Thai food especially Pad Kha Pao, however this dish was not authentic, quite salty and too sauces like a soup. But our starter was very nice, we did not have much time in Amsterdam to revisit to try more dishes.

I'm always leery of anyplace in the red-light district, but I had heard good things about this place. Usually there is a line of people waiting but I got lucky. Really liked my Massaman Kai. Big pieces of chicken. Crowded and noisy. Attentive wait staff. Reasonably priced.

The only positive aspect was how easy it was to get a table — which can be rare in a busy city like Amsterdam. Unfortunately, the overall experience was disappointing. The dishes lacked depth and felt very basic; I couldn’t find the authentic Thai flavors I was hoping for. Presentation and taste were both underwhelming. In terms of value for money, it didn’t meet expectations. I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone looking for a quality Thai food experience.

A recommendation from our tour guide Marta. Simple restaurant with polite staff. Dish 45 is simply amazing. Beef in a light curry sauce and rice for 20 euros.

Good food but spoiled by the behavior of a waitress at the end of the meal who was disrespectful to us. She broke a glass at our table but not a word of apology and what's more she looked down on us by retorting that this is Holland and not Thailand. I don't see the connection. I think this job doesn't suit her and should change it. The manager, on the other hand, was very kind and friendly. It's a shame.

Pineapple rice, Tom yam and Thai ribs-2/5 Not authentic Thai food. No water served. Worstly, cashier (lady) shortchanged us!! Our bill €xx.50, she kept the balance. And stunned us with no thank you AT ALL!! In fact we have to thank her!! Is this how you operate your business?? Shame!! this is such a letdown. Is this done on purpose? Or wages too low? If you want more tips, I am happy to give. Or keep the change! Though it is a touristy area, you must not EXPECT tips at all times from all customers, and tip is not a culture here too. Doesn’t look good on your restaurant! And the owner too!!

Gave this restaurant a try because our tour guide said it was the best restaurant in chinatown. No comments as we havent tried other restaurants from chinatown, but as an asian who regularly eats thai food (from thailand as well as my home country), this restaurant is mid at most, wouldnt call it authentically thai. The dishes might have been tweaked to cater to westerners tastebuds, but authentic thai food taste better. For the price and rating, i had higher expectations. Read below for my dish reviews. We ordered tomyam seafood, combi vege in green curry, and thai basil pork. Basil pork was the best out of the three. Tasted pretty similar to what you would get in Asia countries, just slightly less spicy here. But the taste was there. Vegs in Green Curry was alright, giving it a passing mark. A lil too milky/sweet for green curry, but it was mid, it was alright. Tomyam seafood though, straight out disappointment. Felt lik it came out of the instant MSG packet. Felt more salty than sour spicy. Soup barely has any tomyam taste. Ingredients inside was aight tho.

A great find on the streets of Amsterdam. The dishes can be hearty and spicy, and the soups are small but delicious. No carafe of water is offered because they only serve bottles, which is why I removed a star. Enjoy your meal 😘

A Thai restaurant that was pretty good. However, it cost 90,000 won for 3 people ㅠㅠㅠ The price is higher than other places... I don't really recommend it, but the place was spacious and quiet, so it was nice!! *Additional 0.5 euro for leftover food to-go

Uncomplicated Thai restaurant, including the hustle and bustle and organized chaos you can expect in Thailand. The food was super tasty and our waiter friendly and fast.

This is a restaurant in Chinatown that claims to be an authentic Thai restaurant. Although all the staff are indeed Thai, the overall experience is still a little disappointing. First of all, the Tom Yum Goong green curry chicken is delicious with rice, but the cold green papaya salad is too spicy 😖 So we ordered your Homemade lemon tea, but I am not used to the taste, it feels like a strange mixture. In addition, the Tom Yum Goong soup here is lighter in color and tastes different from what I had in Thailand, but it is not bad, just expensive for the portion. Next time, consider coming during their lunch specials, which might be more cost-effective.

Red curry with rice, incredibly delicious

The quality of the Thai food was exceptional, reminiscent of my experiences in Thailand. Their willingness to accommodate dietary restrictions, such as modifying the drunken noodles to be vegetarian, was greatly appreciated. The authenticity of the dishes, particularly the green curry, was remarkable. I highly recommend this establishment and was pleasantly surprised by the overall culinary experience. I intend to return.

Strange, I ordered take-away. Got a cup of coffee which was not tasty. For the first time. I asked for "beef". Normally you get the food in two cups. 1 with the rice and 1 with the beef. Now I got 1 cup. Everything was mixed up but this was incomparably bad. I will say something about it next time.

Genuine thai food, flavourful and spicy.

Loved the food here, very tasty. Portion is pretty big, a lot of rice but also a lot of the curry/noodles, so I gladly took part of it home. The place is tiny, so it’s not the most comfortable restaurant but if your priority is a delicious meal, then it is definitely worth it!

No reservations will be accepted. Food was very good. Waitress explained to us what might be too spicy and recommended an alternative. Waitresses were very attentive. Typically Asian atmosphere. Don't let the rather discreet exterior of the restaurant deter you from visiting. 😁👍
