Super delicious food that you wouldn't expect when standing on the outside. It is bigger than expected. Very busy though! The food came quickly, which was nice!

This place is rated "Top Bad"! Absolutely awful!!! The Tom Yum soup looked and tasted like swill; after one sip, I thought the wrong dish had been served. The stir-fried rice noodles were cloyingly sweet and incredibly sticky—terrible. The chicken curry was generally bad; the chicken was dry and tough, like an old hen from the Qing Dynasty. My friend and I were starving, and we couldn't finish it. If you're looking for a terrible experience, this is the place for you.

We got the papaya salad and spicy Thai fried rice - both were flavorful and good comfort food. Found the prices a little expensive for the portions.

Update May 2026: Went to eat here again after a few years. Actually wanted the mango sticky rice, but unfortunately it wasn't in stock. More often than not... We waited an hour for a papaya salad and a red curry. After that, we ordered a green curry. Unfortunately, there was a hair in it. We were given another one afterwards, but this one seemed artificial. The curry was watery and less full of flavor. We received a 10% discount on the bill. There was no apology. I think they have enough customers. The red curry was tasty and so was the salad. We went here for lunch. I had to call the lady because she didn't see us anymore? The soup was tasty, but the pansit didn't taste fresh... Next to us, 2 ladies wanted to have their food packed up to take away... the lady says that a container is just €1... Because she had taken 3 containers, they got a discount and it ended up being an extra €2... Rip-off in my opinion!

The food was bad; the fried rice was swimming in oil and the vegetables were cut too large and too raw. Also, when paying the bill, I was asked if a tip should be added, which is very rude to ask for a tip. I will never come here again and will spread the word on social media as well.

I am sorry to give 1 star, but they just forgot our order and we waited 40 min for nothing on a very hungry day. No explanation, no excuse and still charged the water and beer we ordered and hardly touched.

Picture this: an efficient, kind atmosphere. Smell is bloody unreal. You sit down, have some banter. You think the magic stops there but you're wrong. Food is out fresh and hot and in good time. You think it can't get better than this, but it can. The food is flipping marvellous. Nose is running but I don't care. Literally got revived in a way not unlike Jesus by the green chicken curry. They don't do tap water though

My only small note is regarding the service; while the staff was very polite and welcoming, the service was just a bit slow during peak hours. It did not ruin the evening by any means, but there is a slight room for improvement in terms of speed. Overall, the incredible food and lovely environment make this place highly recommended, and I will definitely be coming back for more!

The food is truly outstanding – authentic Thai cuisine bursting with flavor and quality. You can immediately tell that care is taken in the cooking. It simply tastes delicious and stands out from the crowd. There's almost always a long queue outside the restaurant, which speaks volumes. Its popularity is well-deserved. Inside, it's a bit cramped, but that's a small price to pay, because you come here specifically for this exceptional food.

Amazing food! Been twice so far but will be back more often. This time I had the Paneng Kai: the taste was absolutely insane. It took me back to Thailand for a moment. Last time I had the Tom Yum Kai soup: also delicious!

The best chicken massaman I have ever eaten- and I have eaten many all over the world. The sharing starter was also the best I’ve ever had. I did have to ask for drinks twice but I could see they were busy so that’s fair enough. I would definitely recommend and return here.

One of the most delicious Thai restaurants I have visited in the Netherlands. Every time I come here, I feel so welcomed. The staff are always kind, respectful, and very well organized, and the atmosphere truly makes you feel a little closer to Thailand. I especially want to compliment the chefs and the whole team for the care and quality they put into everything. A tourist restaurant, very dark inside, it felt like it was the middle of the night. Very noisy. Service is quick, but prices are high. However, the portions are generous.

Taiwanese palate representative 🙋🏻‍♀️ dislikes this taste (I prefer Mandalay) Gemini recommended Pad Thai, which was on the sweeter, wetter side, and had a sweet and spicy milk sauce flavor (?). The beef was tough and didn't taste like beef at all. The #44 spicy option ordered by a passerby was also on the sweeter side. The spring rolls were thin and had little filling. The three dishes cost 43.5 euros. We left before finishing them all. The owner was very nice though. BTW, they only accept Euros and don't accept credit cards.

Really delicious variety of Thai dishes and the portions are quite big. I absolutely enjoyed the somtam salad, spicy, sour, with fresh seafood. Service was quintessential Thai hospitality. The place itself is quite big for Amsterdam standard, but always crowded especially during dinner time.

Got a beef curry instead of the chicken that I ordered and got 1 eur?? Refund from thuisbezorgd after filing the complaint, absolutely ridiculous. Tried calling both restaurant numbers nobody picked up.

We were told this was the best Thai restaurant around our hotel. It was a Saturday evening and we made our way over. We had to wait for half an hour to get a table. The bartender was this really tall Dutch guy who was very sweet and took our order so we could have a drink while we waited in line to get the table. Once seated, we had this really disinterested waitress taking our order. We wanted something vegetarian and she had no recommendations. The food was very warm with no flavor and it was very disappointing to see the least. Although I have to see the atmosphere was very nice and the decor was very pretty.

Ordered from Bird because I head good stories: Never again. Ordered my food at 19:35, and arrived it at 22:38. That's a 3 HOUR wait. Just insane. The food arrived cold, and it's a shame cause the curry was pretty good. The ribs were not.

Amazing, authentic, tasty Thai food!

Well the restaurant is overall ok but had 2 huge downsides for me. First is that they have a huge toilet problem, they were on renevation so you had to use a half finished toiled :D But more importantly, after making us wait for 45 minutes, they served a cold plate. Interestingly only the rice was hot. Idk what was the problem but the main dish was cold. Then when I told this they just offered a take away discount :D So overall maybe they are not a bad restaurant but they have some things to fix..

The place is not very big, so we had to wait about 10 minutes before being seated but the food was good. We started with Thai spring rolls, which were perfectly crispy and a great appetizer. The Tom Ka Koeng (Thai coconut soup with shrimp) was delicious — creamy and slightly sweet without being spicy. For the main dishes, we had Moe Priou Waan (pork in sweet and sour sauce), which was very well balanced, and fried rice with chicken, simple but very tasty. We also ordered Som Tam (spicy papaya salad), which had exactly the right level of spiciness and was very fresh.

Officially my favourite Thai restaurant in Amsterdam, Bird Thais provides excellent food at reasonable prices. The staff are both friendly and accommodating, and this restaurant provides excellent service even on very busy evenings. The rear tables are adjacent to canal-view windows, and I will repeat again the fact the food is excellent. Please support this absolutely lovely restaurant and the good people who operate it!

Do Not Eat Here! My wife is Thai. Worst Thai food I’ve ever had. Ordered Nam Tok (grilled beef salad) what I got was a stew of beef that was tough and tasted precooked, like it came out of a pot that had been sitting on the stove for a period of time. Got the Starter Sampler, none of the Starters were fresh either. I seriously doubt any locals eat here. I’ve eaten at many Thai restaurants around the world, I rate this one at the bottom. Few days later we went to try Thai restaurant across from this one. They were not opening till later. The nice woman there we spoke to took us around the corner to a hole-in-the-wall Thai restaurant off the beaten path. Best Thai food we've had in a long time.

Bird is known for authentic Thai food, so I was curious. I ordered pad Thai and green curry. The pad Thai was too sweet and sticky, lacking any fresh acidity. The green curry tasted mostly of coconut cream and lacked any spice or complexity. Everything was very mild and seasoned. Not a bad meal, but disappointing if you're expecting authentic Thai flavors.

Portions are smaller than before. But still delicious, as always.

I’m a regular customer and live on the same street, so I order takeaway from here quite often because I really like the food. Unfortunately my last order was disappointing. The takeaway containers were noticeably smaller than before and the portion felt much reduced. I paid €21.20 for a Pad Thai with prawns and received only two prawns, which didn’t feel like good value. I understand rising costs, but as a loyal customer this change was surprising. I hope this feedback is taken on board, as I’d like to keep ordering from here.

Amazing food, I had the Koeng Makhaam. It was the most delicious dish I've ever eaten in my life, and I worked in the restaurant industry for years. Music was excellent, it created a beautiful vibe, the decor was also stunning. Service was impeccable, the waitress was incredible. Funny, amazing, best company in the world. We were a group of 7 and we had the best time. Perfect place to go to when you want delicious food and to feel welcome and at home. Would recommend 10/10

We were recommended this place by our tour guide, who said it was the best Thai restaurant in the city. I'm not sure if he was right, but the food was delicious, although we ordered one of the spicy dishes and it was really, really spicy. We went without a reservation and didn't have to wait long to be seated. I would definitely go back. They do have stairs, which isn't the most accessible if you're pushing a stroller, but there weren't many and you can manage.

Relative to my standards as a Seattlelite (USA), with access to pretty damn good Thai food: this place was mid at best. In Seattle, none of the dishes we had (tom kha, pork larb, and pad Thai) would be acceptable, quality-wise. Portions were good value.

A big bottle of water (1L) costs 7.5€. The green curry is at best mediocre. Go to to Phu Thai Thai near by, cheaper and 10 times better

The meat was wonderfully tender, the vegetables fresh and pleasantly crisp. The portions are generous. I can wholeheartedly recommend this restaurant, you truly can’t go wrong here.

Nice authentic restaurant Thai staff, frequent visitors. It was a bit more expensive than the Thai food I'm used to, but worth it. The food tasted really good, and they had all the dishes. I had a Penang curry with beef. The beef was nice and tender, and the curry was excellent. I'd never had lychees in it before. It was very tasty with fresh vegetables and herbs. My wife had pork with white pepper sauce. Delicious. She said the somtam was also delicious. The restaurant is authentically decorated and has a really old-fashioned feel, with paintings and dolls and such. Wooden benches. Baby-friendly. A very good experience. My wife says it's only better in Thailand, so I'll save the 5 stars 😉

Food is good, but when we were finished eating we were asked twice if we wanted anything else, and prompted twice to go to the cashier to pay. They also started cleaning and plating the table for the next round already. Finally, we had to pick up our stuff while the next round group was already taking a seat at our table. We only sat there for some 5-10 minutes after eating.

Restaurant located in Chinatown. The food is delicious and the service is excellent. They don't take reservations, but it's a large restaurant with a high turnover. The wait in line is short and they move it very quickly.

The benches aren't exactly comfortable, but they look stylish and are really spacious inside. The food was fantastic! The appetizer, the Thai chicken satay, was incredible! The fried chicken with mango/pineapple and the sweet and sour chicken were both very good! Unfortunately, we didn't have enough rice, and extra rice cost €3. The total cost was about €50 for two people.

We had the most beautiful meal here last night. We ordered a number 5, 39, 83 and fried rice to share. On arrival the restaurant was packed, but we were offered a drink whilst waiting in line. Had a lovely Mai Tai! The staff were friendly and service was quick. Thoroughly enjoyed, we have not stopped talking about how good it was!
