Bistro d'Ouwe Helling in Wijk 02 Volendam

Ten years ago, when the previous owner was still in charge, I always loved eating there whenever I was in Volendam. But since the new owners took it over, I stopped enjoying it and quickly gave up. I won't go into the details, but the negative review is unfortunately very relatable!

Restaurant by the sea. Good comfort food , amazing sea side view with many types of boat.

Warm and friendly welcome. Very good food at reasonable price. I had the carpaccio salad - crispy, fresh ingredients.

We were hungry and were able to get a quick bite here. Fast and friendly service. The food was excellent. At least what you'd expect from a cafe. The price was also reasonable. We'll definitely come back here when we visit the eel village.

Delicious dinner tonight. Was at my request because it had been so long since we were here. And just had another old-fashioned fun and delicious evening. Thanks for everything

We ate at this bistro today during our visit to Volendam. Initially, we were greeted kindly by staff member Roos, which was perfectly fine, but then the very unfriendly chef/boss arrived and started grumpily telling the staff that we could no longer eat there and that the kitchen was closed. Slightly dismayed by the very rude way he presented this to his staff right in front of us, we decided to leave. We were still standing outside when Roos called us back inside and said, "Sit down, it's okay." If she had been so friendly, we wouldn't have gone back inside. The food itself was delicious, but the four adults had to make do with a very small bowl of fries, otherwise we'd have to order extra fries, which we were charged extra for. Such a shame, boss! Compliments to the waitresses, who work hard and are all so friendly! The boss could learn a thing or two from his staff! He was especially unfriendly to customers; you don't do that to guests! The boss gets a big thumbs down.

We wanted to make a reservation as a group at 8:30 PM to eat here. That didn't seem to be a problem at first. We were then asked if we could come at 8pm instead of later, to which I said that was fine. Then we were suddenly asked if we could come at 6:00 PM because they preferred not to wait for our table. She said other customers often leave at 8:30 p.m. and some employees leave at that time as well. I didn't understand! It was a young girl so I asked to speak to someone else who could explain it better, but there wasn't one and she only did as she was told! Sorry, but this doesn't make sense! Then eat somewhere else! Not customer friendly at all! please work on it!

Good place to take refuge after a walk through the characteristic streets and the seafront. Due to its position it is not attacked by hungry tourists who have just got off the buses. Pleasant and welcoming. Excellent food, both meat and fish.

Had dinner with my kids yesterday Got a table upon arrival but had to wait a long time for the menu to order Ladies behind the bar were talking to each other more than keeping an eye on things The satay we ordered didn't cook all the way through, which is a pity When paying, a rude lady immediately said in a not so nice tone that she absolutely would not accept my money with a fiver note with a small tear in it, really so unfriendly and if we did not agree, we had to email the manager..... All in all the service that day was super unfriendly and bad Don't think we'll go there again

High quality and very friendly service

Unfortunately a real disappointment, the food is mediocre and it took a very long time before we got it. Twice it turned out that they had forgotten us. Price-quality ratio is really not okay. Nice location and nice decoration, apart from the super narrow tables.

Blonde woman behind the bar is very racist and hates foreign tourists. I'll never come here again.

Very good restaurant and delicious food. They can be a bit more welcoming to international travelers overall 4/5 thanks to delicious fish

Delicious food, friendly service, cozy environment

Had dinner here on Saturday evening with 4 people. The food was very good and the service was perfect. After each course you were asked whether you wanted the next dish or wanted to wait a little longer. Drinks were also well taken care of, all in all a pleasant evening.

The location is great, with a beautiful view of the harbor of Volendam. The food is not special, hot chicken sandwich was served cold and tasteless, soup was way too salty, coffee was tasty. Few vegetarian options. Service seems very insecure, cannot answer our questions (e.g. Is there brown bread instead of white?), service talks very loudly and rather unkindly to each other, which we also pick up on and does not make the visit any more pleasant. Please do not express mutual irritations in the presence of customers, we are here for pleasure.

The food is tasty, above average but the service is SOOO slow. Sat for an hour and a half and still didn't get a main course.

Just off the main tourist promenade, a warm environment, with antique maritime-themed furnishings, very well kept, like an ancient ship. The soups are excellent

Blijft een superleuke tent waar je heerlijk kunt eten. Er is echt aandacht aan het eten besteedt en dat kan je goed proeven. Ook speciale wensen is geen enkel probleem. Blijft top.

What a lovely place. Good and interesting menu, really lovely staff, could not have been more welcoming and helpful. Especially recommend the coffee and pastries as an alternative to dessert. Reallly tasty. Highly recommended.

leuke plek om te zitten. eten gemiddeld. eigenaresse kan goed mensen publiekelijk buiten de deur zetten waar dan weer iedereen kan mee genieten van de show. (ps de gasten waren ook niet sjiek ) het jonge personeel was gemotiveerd

We hadden een heerlijke avond op het terras, het eten was voortreffelijk. Echt een aanrader en voor herhaling vatbaar.

Lekker en genoeg gegeten, geholpen door een vriendelijke dame (uit Edam) die ons advies gaf over volendam en omstreken. Fijne sfeer en uitzicht op de haven. Bedankt!

We hebben heerlijk gegeten er was kennelijk alleen een personeelstekort want het liep allemaal niet zo vlekkeloos dan anders, we zijn hier al heel wat keren wezen eten, dit was echt anders dan anders, jammer.

Bar, personnels très aimable, ambiance agréable, joli vue sur le port.

Un endroit tres agréable et local. Bon rapport healthy / prix.

Knus, goed bezet restaurant. Goede gerechten, smakelijk. Gezellig gezeten. Schappelijke prijzen.
