Great view of the Markermeer while receiving friendly service and, according to my children, eating the best burgers in the world.

Very nice to sit outside and look out over the Markermeer.

With a person in a wheelchair, it was a bit of a squeeze, as they say in Utrecht (a 150-meter walk from the parking lot and it's a tight fit inside), but the atmosphere, service, and dishes make up for it. Friendly and attentive staff, the lunch with 3 types of fish was perfectly fine, and the location by the water is perfect.

Beautiful location on the IJsselmeer, waves roll in and out, very relaxing. The service is top-notch and the food is top-notch. The historic city center of Edam is beautiful and the weekly cheese market is highly recommended. Volendam is 2 km away and is also highly recommended: a photo in traditional costume and a boat trip to Marken. 👍

We found this place with a simple search for somewhere to eat in Edam, and it was recommended to us. What a discovery. Paviljoen Strandbad Edam is a real gem right on the water of the IJsselmeer, with a front terrace, a back terrace and a side terrace, all lovely. The venue itself is fantastic, and even inside it is extremely well curated in every detail, really charming. The food was excellent across the board. We had a really good fish and chips, a kip sate (chicken satay), and a geitenkaas salade (goat cheese salad). Our girls had burrata, pancakes with ham and cheese, and a tomato soup, and we closed the meal with a plain pancake. Everything was genuinely delicious. The setting is wonderful, especially on a sunny day like the one we had. Prices were in line with what you would expect, and the service was fine, nothing to praise especially but nothing to complain about either. Young staff doing exactly what they needed to do, and quite fast too, our food arrived very quickly after ordering. It felt in line with typical Dutch service, which can come across a bit dry sometimes, but I really have no complaints there. Overall we had a great time. This is a place I am immediately saving among my favourites in the area, and I would definitely recommend it if you are visiting Edam and looking for a beautiful spot to have lunch by the water.

Great view, friendly staff and good food.

Delicious food – good vegetarian options. The food arrived super fast and the staff were very friendly. We enjoyed our visit :) Since the weather wasn't great, we sat inside, but we still had a wonderful view of the sea through the large windows.

While the coffee is truly top-notch, the menu lags a bit behind in creativity as far as I'm concerned. The food currently leans just a little too much towards a quick bite, whereas this place has so much more to offer in every other area. Just a quick word on that coffee: I have drunk quite a lot of coffee all over the world, but what you get served here is on an absolutely different level. Damline 9 was recently named the best coffee bar, but as far as I'm concerned, this place deserves just as huge a shout-out.

Truly tasty food in a lovely location. We had a beautiful experience of the north-West part of the Netherlands in Edam. Delicious Dutch dishes, great choice of drinks including some Dutch beers.

We come here regularly and it is always good. A beautiful place with very friendly staff. Despite the sometimes large crowds, there is always room. The food is always of good quality, with many vegetarian options and a reasonable price. Truly a top location.

What more could you want... a terrace right on the water, friendly service, and good food! There's always something going on here; we were at the adjacent campsite and saw lots of people coming and going – I think that speaks volumes for the restaurant.

What a little gem, tucked away in a total corner but that makes it such a surprise. Beautiful restaurant with three terraces by the water. Huge view over the water and the boats sailing in and out. Very friendly service, a good, extensive menu, and delicious food. It was a lovely surprise to have lunch here with friends. We will definitely be back!

The Paviljoen Edam beach pool offers a beautiful ambiance and a peaceful atmosphere, with music and lighting. When dining, you can look out over the IJsselmeer. We ordered the "Rommel" table; the portions were generous. The spare ribs were deliciously seasoned, and the prawns, varied with vegetables, were very tasty. Nasi and chicken satay, red cabbage mash with a sole roll with butter and eel. There is also plenty of choice for the children; the portion size is just right. The service was calm and friendly.

I came in December, and even then, despite the cold, I enjoyed the unique beauty of this place... Now that June warms everything, it's simply paradise. I think sitting with your feet almost on the sea and enjoying excellently prepared dishes is priceless. The only place in the Netherlands where they served bitterballen on a specially made plate... and especially the napkins... oh... crunchy... Yummy!! I came here for the spectacular goulash... One more reason to return in every season... bravo and congratulations. Update September 2025: There's a petite girl... a delicate blonde with beautiful eyes, Jara (I hope I spelled that correctly). I'd like to thank her. She's absolutely the kindest and most friendly member of the team. ... everyone's good... but she's on another level. I'm enjoying a delicious Friday in September... perfect temperature and a superb dinner. Onion soup with gratinated cheese and the amazing bitterballen... how lucky I was... both for the opportunity and the weather. I drove all the way from Zandvoort just to be here tonight... A lovely place for a chat with good coffee and a piece of apple pie... and occasionally enjoy gazing at the waves of the IJsselmeer.

What a lovely place to grab a bite to eat or enjoy a coffee and a sweet treat. We thoroughly enjoyed our lunch (fish trio and 12 o'clock). It was wonderfully warm inside even though it was cold and foggy outside. The service was very friendly. We will definitely be back when the weather is better! To enjoy the beautiful view!

I have been coming here for many years with great pleasure. Over the last 15 years, quality, service, and atmosphere have improved enormously. The view remains beautiful. Coffee with homemade Apfelstrudel and fresh whipped cream is a real treat. But when we come in the afternoon, we often go for the fish trio or the lunch special. For dinner, we almost always choose the spareribs and plaice rolls; truly delicious. We will be back soon!

A very nice beach bar/restaurant with very good food and wonderful views of the Markermeer.

Very friendly and customer-focused staff, and we even had the opportunity to make a nice comment. The atmosphere was very pleasant, as always. And of course, the menu was excellent again; we really enjoyed it.

The Strandbad Paviljoen is a restaurant with a very friendly atmosphere and boasts a fantastic location on the IJsselmeer. In the summer, you can sit outside with a beautiful view of the water. In the winter, the restaurant is decorated for a cozy atmosphere, making you feel instantly at home. The food is always delicious, and the service is friendly and excellent.

Great location, fantastic service, and amazing food. I've eaten there several times and it was absolutely fantastic. However, yesterday, August 30th, early in the evening, I saw the following: At the pickup window, you can see a tiny bit into the kitchen. While paying for my pickup order, I saw a chef using his fingers to check if the food was warm enough. I don't think this is possible; there's special equipment for that. This struck me as very negative and left a bad taste in my mouth.

A beach bistro with a relaxed atmosphere, located directly on the IJsselmeer. A young, communicative service team. The restaurant was busy at lunchtime. We can't comment on the quality of the food. The Aperol Spritz and the beautiful view were a great start to our vacation.

Very cozy good food nice place to go to the water and enjoy the surroundings

The location is amazing, situated between the sea and a canal. Lots of birds. the staff were very friendly and efficient. restaurant was clean. Food was tasteless. we ordered the onion soup, which had a very poor flavor, hardly any cheese on top, and the bread served with it had no flavor, even after spreading butter on it. The caprese panini was not tasty. The pesto bread was also flavorless that it was served on. Served with mayonnaise, which is an odd pairing and didn't compliment the flavor. The French fries were ok. The chai tea was a little bit of syrup in the glass with foam. Didn't even fill the glass. We didn't order the ice cream, but the ice cream did look good I would recommend that if you're looking for ice cream or drinks (only) on the water, this is the perfect place

We were looking for a restaurant offering fish 🐟, we were delighted, excellent soles and plaice, well cooked and generous. The site is peaceful and wonderfully well located at the end of a dike. The staff ensure happiness 🥹

Don't go here for the food. The fries are great, though. But the location! It's sublime! A drink and a snack by the water is the best option. They know what wine they have, so ask for what you like.

This place never disappoints... I came here in my 20s with friends on Saturday afternoons, enjoying a beer and a snack by the water. In the meantime, having a good conversation or just staring at the water and boats. Now, as a 50-something, I enjoy a bite to eat and a drink here with my son. Portions and variety on the menu are still very good, the hamburger is not standard catering food but is a taste experience. Prices are not exaggerated for the location. The staff is apparently enjoying themselves - because despite the crowds inside and outside - the service is involved, friendly and fast. Sparrows come begging to eat with us and with a view of the camping site, it is as if you are on holiday here. It could easily be a place in Germany on a mountain lake.

Shame! Had made a reservation, after calling to say we would be a bit late I was not understood by the 'employee'. Once arrived no table reserved, had decided to sit outside, inside a spot became available after 10 minutes... The worst part comes now, after having spent quite a bit (doesn't mean that if you spend less you should not be treated differently, guest is guest) and a few things went wrong (which can happen), we were asked if we wanted another round of coffee while the whole table was still full of coffee, Irish coffee, late sorbets... As a catering expert I said, you can clean the machine, we don't need any more coffee after this. She came over and asked if we wanted to pay the bill right away. Really a disgrace while the whole table is still full. When taking out the dinner the 'manager' asked if everything had tasted good, how nice that it was finally asked was my answer... After paying I would get an apology but that was completely forgotten. Afterwards I didn't need it anymore and I was slightly irritated. It was a special evening for us and fortunately we were able to hold on to that despite this disappointment. Then I still have to say that we were there the day before (Saturday) to have a drink and the owner's husband walked to our table twice for a chat and after 20 minutes we still had nothing to drink, we left. Such a shame, such a beautiful place and where people work mistakes can be made but this really goes too far.

Had 2 beers here on Saturday night Nice restaurant right on the water! Great seating but the service was really a disgrace I don't think anyone knew what they were doing and just kept walking around! 1 girl thought it was fun to always stand at the table with her friends and chat, everyone was just waiting for service but she didn't care at all, nice sip of the cocktail, bite of the bittergarnituur I think she forgot she was working?! Nice for your colleagues too 🙈

Unfortunately I still haven't received my food 20 minutes after my wife's. After a comment I am told: they overlooked that. After 10 minutes I finally received the work menu, microwave hot and tough meat, very unfortunate. Not eaten. This was it.
