Entered the restaurant at 12:45 PM on October 15, 2025 – had ice cream at 1:41 PM. Food delivery was fast. Rice can be added if you're still hungry. We stop by here to get food, after we placed the order, we waited about 20 mins, since we only have limited time before we need to go back to our tour bus, we kindly asked the waitress if she can check our food and wanted to know how much longer? Here is what she said , here is not McDonald, here is restaurant, you been waiting 19 minutes, she sounds super rude, I worked in the restaurant before, I would never reply to my customers like that. Food was great though. Seafood was fresh and taste good.

We both had fish and chips with salad and a beer. Warm restaurant & pleasant staff. Food was good - fish was tasty and lightly crumbed and chips were great! Well priced too!

Racism? We came, three friends of color. We ordered water and were served bottled water, telling us that they don't serve tap water. Seeing a pitcher on a table, we asked them twice for tap water, they said it was exceptional for the group. 5 minutes later they offered tap water to the next table, also 3 of them. Luckily there was an honest waitress (and herself of color) who confirmed to us that they do indeed serve tap water.

Rude and slow service, particularly from an older man who threw our card and receipt on the table rather hard after we paid. The kibbeling was so soggy and greasy. The spicy mussels would have been nice, but it came much later, since they forgot about our order even though it wasn’t even busy so it was difficult to enjoy coupled with the terrible attitude.

We had a delicious meal. You still get good old-fashioned service. Attention to detail. No Gen Z-crawling aunts who've never heard of hospitality. The only thing I found really unacceptable was carpet on the floor in a restaurant.

We sat right down by the pier with a direct view of the water. We didn't eat, just drank cocktails. They were really well mixed and delicious, so much so that we ordered a second round. The service was fast, attentive, and friendly. We'd be happy to go again.

We of a group of 4 persons went here for dinner. It was not crowded. The food was good. However, the seems-to-be senior server was very rude in serving food and clearing the dishes. Would not come back or recommend the restaurant for such attitude because there are quite a few other sea-front good restaurants in town

We received a very friendly welcome. The room had everything you need for a short stay. The bed was very comfortable. The roof terrace was a nice bonus, where we could enjoy a cigarette. The location was simply fantastic.

We had a really great meal here yesterday. The service is great: they try to give it a bit of a chic twist with certain dishes that are prepared tableside, but with that down-to-earth Volendam attitude; delicious! I had a delicious carpaccio as a starter. No slimy Sligro junk, just beautiful meat. I also had a tournedos with fried onions, mushrooms, and bell pepper, which was cooked perfectly medium rare. Everything about the food was just perfect! It was also nice that we got a free amuse-bouche and bread with the starter. Highly recommended!

A little gem nestled in Volendam's marina. Spotlessly clean, well-soundproofed rooms with breathtaking views and fully equipped bathrooms. A generous and varied breakfast is served, including gluten-free options. Very friendly staff.

Just dropping in was no problem. Help was quick. The fish is excellent, very fresh. The quantities are good. The service is simply top-notch. Friendly. Fast. Nothing is too much trouble when other customers keep asking for everything. Fantastic. They could learn a lot from many restaurants these days. Kudos, guys.

Definitely not a recommended place if you want to eat properly cooked fried fish... Used oil that makes the dish black... The staff is also very absent and not very friendly... Negative!

The food was really good, but the service was terrible. I asked the staff in advance if I could sit outside, and was told to quickly get a seat before other guests were seated, so I waited at a table that hadn't been cleared. The staff served the other table right next to us and took our order, but they didn't clear our table (even though we were the only ones waiting and our eyes kept making eye contact), so I had to ask them to clear it myself. When it came to taking our order, it took 15 minutes for our table to order, and when I asked for an additional order, they didn't even respond to basic service and just took my order without any response. Despite the delicious fish and steamed mussels in a beautiful setting, this is a place I wouldn't recommend or want to visit again.

We had a fantastic meal tonight. The service was great. The four of us thoroughly enjoyed ourselves.

Worst experience ever. We asked the staf for a free table to eat lunch and they told us you can not sit here because we dont like you. Meanwhile, there were some free tables where we could sit They even called us stupid. Very rude and unpolite staff. Their behaviour was unacceptable. If you visit Volendam do mot consider this place.

Great establishment, the decoration draws the eye to the history and culture of this region of the Netherlands. The Service is very attentive, several local beers are available, the dishes are excellent and plentiful. The hotel room with a view of the Markemeer is relaxing. Special mention "for Ketjes" Hij is top!!

We came to Volendam to get some fresh seafood for lunch and sure, we are not disappointed. The fish and the prawns are fresh and great! We are also pleasantly surprised that the staff gave my kids some activity books to keep them engaged while we await for the dishes.

We bestelden kibbeling met friet. Op mijn vraag wat voor vis het was kreeg ik een onduidelijk antwoord. De kibbeling was slap en niet echt lekker, de friet was goed en de salade ook maar dat was een mini portie. Toen ik tegen de serveerster zei dat de kibbeling tegen viel was haar antwoord, ‘wat raar zeg, iedereen vind hem altijd heerlijk ‘ Dat was eens maar nooit weer.

Het restaurant is gelegen midden in het toeristische deel van Volendam. Wellicht spreekt het de toerist aan, maar het wat gedateerde interieur, maar voornamelijk het veel te dure eten ten opzichte van je op je bord krijgt - hoeveelheid en kwaliteit, viel tegen. €40,00 voor een hoofdgerecht is echt te gek voor woorden…. Geprobeerd, maar zal het nooit meer doen! De bediening pas prettig en attent.

Vriendelijk en warm ontvangen in een gezellig kader. Royale porties die prijs kwaliteit zijn. Wij hebben genoten van de kippenschnitzel en hamburger. Die werden geserveerd met warme groentjes, frietjes, gebakken aardappeltjes en sausjes. Voor herhaling vatbaar!

This restaurant is racist! I was waiting there for 20 mins and no one went to me to ask for my order. I would never go back to this place ever! I have never experienced racism and discrimination in any other country I’ve visited! All the more a single restaurant?!

An excellent Cafe-Restaurant that combines the warmth of its atmosphere, the friendly and respectful service of the hosts; and the quality and delicious flavor of their meals. Just not treated properly We wanted to sit at a table with 6 people and a wheelchair, of course we wanted to sit together, she already came storming out, which was the intention, and she put everything back and we had to sit apart from each other, in the end we with 6 people and a wheelchair, we sat at 2 very small tables.

Splendido bar e ristorante nella darsena di Volendam. Allestimento tipico e servizio molto attento ed efficace. Tra i vari piatti a menù consiglio certamente il Fish and Chips. Costo non elevato. Fatevi una passeggiata nella darsena al termine del pranzo. Volendam è bellissima

One of the best steak and ribs I’ve ever had. We were in a rush and asked for speedy service. We couldn’t fault anything. Food was out in mins and yet of the best quality. Loved every bit of it. Grateful to the kind lady who served us.

I rarely give all 5 stars but this was a unique experience Visited Volendam on a holiday tour and found this restaurant We had a few minutes till the tour bus would depart but we had to get food The service was great, quick, the food was amazing and the price was fair I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in volendam

If you are in any kind of tour, beware, food takes forever!

Just had .tournedo on November 4 for almost €40. Well if he was 75 grams I think more like 50 grams. Ridiculous amount for this . Never here again

Food quite disappointing: you come to a small fisher village expecting to find exceptional grilled fish and end up eating sort of fried fillets… with chips fried in used oil. Never will be back. At least, good attention to allergy of our kid

We had a nice meal there. However, it was a great pity that our tenderloin did not have the desired cuisson that we requested. We asked for between the two but got it fully cooked. Our meat and fish were also not really warm. All this reported. But nothing was really done with it. Shame.

Great service. All the staff were welcoming. Food was great and plentiful. We had the grilled seabass and shrimp on pasta (too creamy for me) and 1kg spicy boiled mussels. It included salad with a nice dressing, vegetable, fries, potatoes and bread. So much food, Too much for two . Overall great atmosphere, lovely place and tasty food.

Unacceptable. Be careful. If they think you are a tourist then they give you an expensive and poor menu without even asking. Then a small group of Dutch people arrives and they give them a different menu, full of dishes. We asked and they said is the same menu but one of the waiters said that it is of course different. We had a fantastic time at Van den Hogen! There were four of us, and we shared a variety of seafood plates, which was more than enough for everyone. The seafood was super fresh, with lots of delicious options to choose from. The portions were just right, and the staff were lovely—friendly and attentive, making the whole experience even better. If you’re looking for fresh seafood in a relaxed setting, definitely give this place a try! Thank you 😊

Unfortunately, the food didn't convince me. The fried fish was rather bland in taste and I missed a lemon to freshen it up. I also found the portions a bit “sparse” for the price. The fries could have used more salt (I had to add more salt), and the remoulade or sauce wasn't really a hit for my taste, especially since it was mayonnaise-based, which doesn't quite suit my preferences. Maybe it's common in the Netherlands to serve fish with remoulade, but unfortunately it wasn't for me personally. If the other guests like it, that's of course completely fine, but unfortunately I wasn't convinced. I give it a plus point for the ambience and the view, so it gets 3 stars…

Came in with a medium sized group for a bite to eat. Main course was decent. Dessert (dame blanche) was very poor. Service... Young host did his best and was cheerful, but there was also an old host walking around. What a jerk that was. To the point of rudeness. Food was delivered in parts. We were spread over several tables. While one table had already finished eating, our table just sat there waiting and waiting. Dessert was completely outrageous. Had to wait over 40 minutes for 4 ice cream desserts. While the rest was ready a long time ago. Ball tent

The food was OK! The staff was not nice, it is nice restaurant

€60 for two: 1 plate of mussels (not very tasty but not bad either), served with panel, chips and sauces and 1 decent sandwich (called club sandwich). With a dessert, 1 glass of wine and 2 beers. Convenient to be able to book on the fork, they have seats for newborns. The view of the lake is beautiful, if I were passing through it would be ok to stop but I wouldn't go back on purpose.

The employee's behavior was very bad. She expelled us all with the glory that one young person took an order from abroad and we were three wanting to order from her. She said no and asked for us to leave 😵‍💫

Delicious food! And the service is really great! Plenty of choice of restaurants in the port of Volendam. But we can really recommend this one. Service is really of paramount importance here. You really feel like a guest. Person cheerful and up for a joke. Food is super tasty. Large portions, neatly laid out plates, lots of accompaniments and delicious taste! The day specials are also recommended.

We visited the restaurant on July 30, 2024 to eat fish and mussels. We thought it was excellent. My wife and our daughter enjoyed the smoked eel. The mussels were exceptional, our daughter's burger was equally successful and the kibbling was a dream. Luckily we had made a reservation, which also worked perfectly and got a table at the front with a view of the small harbor. The service was very accommodating, only we had to wait a while until drinks and food were at the table.
