Very good food, a great atmosphere, and a lovely, sweet waitress named Zoë. The other waitresses also went above and beyond. Excellent cuisine. Due to a broody allergy, they pulled out all the stops. We drove 130 km for it, but it was definitely worth it. We'll be back soon.

If you love lukewarm seafood served on cold plates in a cramped noisy restaurant then this is the place for you! The saving grace is the food is actually tasty and the teenage waiters are friendly and professional. The food was served to the table within literal minutes meaning it had been lying on the side for who knows how long…

Ten of us went for lunch and it was fabulous. I had a herring sandwich... the fried cod was spectacular. The potatoes were great too. Leo served us very well and helped us translate. We will recommend it.

this experience was unbelievable.The fries I ordered were great. When I left the restaurant to sit on the bench across from it, seagulls swarmed me and attacked me (for the fries) One of the employees from the restaurant came running up to me and loudly told me not to feed the birds, like I chose to be swarmed. How unkind and unprofessional. It didn’t make me feel good, and ruined the otherwise positive experience I had.

The smell of fresh seafood hits you as soon as you walk in the door. The calamari is exception. All the food and drinks came so quickly. It was very impressive.

We were in Volendam for a weekend and came across a great offer on Social Deals, which someone pointed out to us. When we arrived at the restaurant, it was completely full, but after a four-minute wait, they had a table available. The atmosphere is really cozy and the staff are incredibly friendly. You can tell there's a difference in experience among the staff, but they do a great job. And yes, even the younger employees need to learn, and there's nothing wrong with that. We had a great meal there, with a really good price-quality ratio. There was simply nothing wrong with the food. There was just something wrong with one of our orders, which arrived late, but they resolved it perfectly. Furthermore, the food is served fairly quickly, and you don't have to wait a long time. I understand people saying things are fast there, but if you want to stay longer, that's really no problem. All in all, a nice place, with simple but excellent food and a good price-quality ratio. The only tip I can give is: make it easier for the service and the kitchen with a digital system. You'll notice a lot of time is lost here. With the large crowds, there's a chance of mistakes. We'll definitely be back here when we're in Volendam.

The place is tiny, and they seat you with other people, supposedly to foster a sense of community. Obviously, nobody actually socializes. The food is fried and very oily. In short, if you have the chance to go, skip it. 20 euros for oil is the only way to go; look for other options.

The place is great. It was packed, but we were served right away; we only had to wait 3 minutes. We each ordered one dish: the Kibbelin, which is fried cod (it comes with potatoes and vegetables, plus two sauces: one is mayonnaise and the other is a kind of aioli, though not exactly the same); fried chicken (also with potatoes and two sauces: mayonnaise and a sweet chili sauce with a bit of spice); and finally, the Kipsate (chicken with a peanut sauce). All the dishes come with a bag of chips and vegetables. They served us incredibly fast considering how busy it was. If you come to this town, I highly recommend eating here. Of the three dishes, the cod was our favorite.

We went on a guided tour and they took us there for lunch. Although we stuck to the set menu, it was quite good; we saw other things that looked good, so we'll have to try them another time.

This is a real tourist trap. Upon entering, there weren't many people there. Less than ten minutes later, it was completely full. I ordered drinks and food, and less than five minutes later, the fish soup and chicken schnitzel were served. That's when I realized it's all about quantity, not quality. My wife's fish soup was the proof. Absolutely not good. And it's a real shame you don't get freshly made fish soup served in a harbor! The comment about the fish soup was included in the bill, which wasn't on it. Thank you for that. We hadn't even put our coats on yet when other people were ready to take our table. Definitely not something we'll be doing again.

We had delicious fries there. It was nice sitting on the dike in the sunshine.

We visited Volendam on a day trip, and since we were short on time, we found this place with takeaway food. We ordered calamari and fried fish with potatoes for €10 and €12 respectively—very good. If you eat in the restaurant, the same dishes are much more expensive, €18 and €20 respectively.

The food was delicious and the service was excellent, especially from Mr. Max. I ordered a cable.

The only downside is the very small portion size for the price, but they give you a lot of cheap potatoes to compensate for the lack of food.

This place was great! We had cod and it was incredibly tender. The girls had the kids' menu with nuggets, fries, juice, and ice cream, and they even got a little gift. The coffee was excellent. The staff was outstanding, the atmosphere was super welcoming, and the prices were very reasonable.

I had lunch here yesterday, choosing this restaurant because of the good reviews. There was a line outside, so that raised expectations. We were able to sit outside, which was fine. I chose the Volendam tasting menu with eel, salmon, mackerel, and shrimp. It was so incredibly small, I could have swallowed it whole. I know fish is very expensive, but they should charge 25 euros instead of 16 and serve more so people don't leave hungry. The salad that came with it was completely dried out and had no dressing. I pointed this out to a very young, friendly waitress and immediately regretted it; the girl was completely at a loss. I went to the restroom, and the stale urine smell hit me on the stairs. It was so filthy; if I'd gone before dinner, I wouldn't have ordered anything. I really don't understand where all the good reviews come from.

We enjoyed the Haring, Smoked eel on bread-ones highly recommended by our tour guide and the atmosphere of the place, by the oceanfront. But regretted ordering Seafood mix fries- not crispy enough, tasteless, definitely not worth the money for the serving size and quality. As other reviewers mentioned, this place is a typical "tourists spot"~ Overall, so so not bad, but didn't meet up to our expectations on seafood served in a port city.

Jaylee and fiene were sooooooo nice and the served us over over than amazing they were so understanding with our situation because one of the us have allergic from only fish but can eat any other seafood so we needed them to cook the shrimp in different pan than the fish, they served us with big big smile on their faces, even though we were 6 members and it’s a bit hard to serve that number. Zoe was the best!! She gave us quick and kind service. She also answered all of our questions about the area and gave recommendations.

The atmosphere and service were as always top notch, the portions were significantly smaller than six months ago, too expensive for the amount you get.

We ordered a portion of kibbeling with fries from a street vendor and were very satisfied, both with the service and the food. The kibbeling was freshly fried, delicious, and juicy.

We went for lunch, but there was a town festival, and we were told we could only go in if we were part of a group. They offered us takeaway food from their stand, so we did. We chose two platters: one with chunks of fish with potatoes and salad (€10) and another with squid, mussels, fish, and a shrimp with potatoes and salad (€12). Both came with mayonnaise and tartar sauce. Since it was at the stand, there were plenty of places to eat it. It was very good.

We tried the kibbeling and the mixed seafood platter — both were super tasty, especially with the delicious sauces. Sitting by the water made the whole experience even more enjoyable. 🌊🐟 Definitely a great spot for a relaxed lunch!

The fish was very fresh and delicious. The food and service were very fast. Ryan, the greeter, was very nice and friendly. He had learned Turkish and was very attentive to us. We'd like to thank him again. Be sure to visit.

A rather touristy restaurant on the coastal street. In fact, the menu with photos doesn't resemble reality. The varied fish and seafood platter is smaller. It's not bad, but nothing special. It has several indoor dining areas and a few tables on the terrace. Friendly staff.

An excellent choice for lunch. The staff is always attentive, some speak Spanish and all speak English. The food is delicious and prepared quickly. The portions are set for one person per dish and include fries. I decided to try the hake, which is highly recommended.

Ordered and our food was at our table in 2 minutes. It's like it was warmed up in the microwave. Not worth the money at all. The fried fish was soggy and just not enjoyable. It makes you upset that you spent so much money. Will NEVER recommend. Also the servers are not the friendliest. We were sitting next to people who didn't enjoy nor finish their meal either.

Passing through Volendam on a day trip from Amsterdam, I had the pleasure of lunch at this little restaurant overlooking the sea (but then again, everything here has a sea view). The prices are significantly lower than in the capital. The meat and fried seafood are excellent and plentiful. Just one piece of advice: to avoid unnecessary and sterile arguments after lunch, don't do as I did and don't bring your wife or girlfriend... the staff is mind-blowing. A word to the wise...

Good atmosphere, food, excellent service

Food is good but beware of attitude! We ordered 2 sandwiches and 1 small fries, no bills, no waiting number. There is one person is in front to take the other. At that moment, it’s only a family of 4 and us. The fries come first, the guy who took the order, hold it up and called for it 2 times as large fries, and no one pick up. So I thought it was us and come for it on the 3rd call. The guy who took order saw me and gave it to me. So I thought it was correct. Later on a young guy came and call for 2 sandwiches, i came to take and he asked me about the fries I took, that mine is small, why would I took the big one. I said sorry I didn’t know, he said, never mind, it’s not a problem anymore. The moment I turned away, he did the Thumbing on nose gesture, my sister saw it and told me later. You can just ask nicely for customer to pay that extra if the wrong order affected you. Instead that you said it’s no longer a problem and make the disrespectful gesture. And also, maybe try to work on the order process to hand out the right order next time. Instead of letting 1 guy to remember it and let the other one giving the attitude to the customers when something is wrong.

“We only serve still water”… It cost €3.50 for a glass. We had already ordered beer and Coke, and just wanted a bottle of water at the end of the meal—that’s what we got

Horrible!!! First, what you see outside and what they offer you inside is nothing like it... we asked for tap water, and they said no, we had to ask for a bottle of water. If you're someone who's even remotely familiar with fish, calamari... this place is a rip-off. I can only say that the best thing we've ever eaten were the fries, amazing.

A very pleasant lunch break during our visit to Volendam...we had a great time...the dining room was packed with people, but with their organization, we ate in less than an hour. Lots of staff, all young and very fast. The quality of the food was excellent and varied, we loved it. It was easy to find along the promenade. A truly quiet place. Well done!

We had a terrific dinner at de Luch and we had a lot of fun with Ryan who is a talented waiter who can speek 10 languages including mine witch is Arabic, so if you go there you can communicate with Ryan with your own language

Exceptional service! Amazing staff and food, thank you, we felt very welcome there. The waiter even spoke our language! He is learning it and was trying his best to speak Arabic :)

Good service but average food. Small place and noisy

The food looked good and tasted delicious. A well-filled plate, that's for sure! And it's not expensive. As soon as someone finished their plate, it was immediately cleared away. But that wasn't the worst part. The restrooms, on the other hand, weren't clean. But definitely worth going back!

We had lunch here and really enjoyed it. We sat at one of the outdoor tables, enjoying the atmosphere. Our waiter was very friendly and professional, which made the experience even more enjoyable. The service was prompt, and the dishes arrived promptly. Everything we ordered was very good, and we thought it was a good value. I give it four stars because it was a great experience, but it lacked that "something extra" that would make it perfect.

The place is very well located in front of the harbour. The staff is lovely and friendly. The food not so good. Fried fish seemed that was done a while ago and not in the moment and salas came without a dressing. I didn’t enjoy it.

We came here on a tour. The tour guy said go here. Highlighted how great the cod was. By far the worst crap food I’ve had in many many many months. The food came out in less than five minutes. And I am not exaggerating, a second. Run don’t walk away from this crap hole.

We were on a bus tour and needed to grab a quick lunch before meeting up with the group and this place was great. It was quite busy because it was so hot outside but once we got in it felt like 1 min after we ordered we got out food. The staff were so nice and the food was delicious. I had the chicken burger and it really surprised me of how good it was. The bun was so soft and the pattie so crunchy. The kippling was tasted so fresh. 10/10 highly recommend De Lunch

The best seafood I have tasted in Europe is fresh, delicious and not rancid, especially the squid. It is legendary and comes in large pieces, praise be to God.

A very cool restaurant (atmosphere) with very fast service. Despite the large number of customers (due to the lunch rush from the tour buses), the service was friendly and tried to find a good solution for everyone. The restaurant was completely full. The food was delicious and the portions were more than adequate. Our 'Kribbeling' was very juicy and hardly greasy. So, everything was perfect.

The place is nice and the service is friendly, but the food is really, really bad. Really, all the food in this town is bad—old and very run-down.

The food is delicious, thank God, and the staff are nice, but she saw a box of pizza with me because my daughter is a vegetarian, and they said she is not allowed to eat in the restaurant, so I had to let her eat alone outside.

It's a shame it looks cozy, but the food wasn't good. Everyone (there were five of us) had stomach problems afterward because it was very greasy. We ordered fried mussels, but you could squeeze them so hard the grease just squirted out. We mentioned it to the waiter, who didn't say much. It's a shame, hopefully better next time. I'm someone who will definitely visit restaurants again to see if they'll do anything with the reviews.
