This is a wonderful experience. Cozy, pleasant, and incredibly delicious food. Hennie was the host this evening. His explanations, wine selection, and humor were top-notch. We had a fun, enjoyable evening. Highly recommended!

Authentic local cuisine in a stylish, living-room atmosphere. The duck breast carpaccio as a starter, the lamb and the Diamant Haas beef as main courses, and the rhubarb crumble with yogurt ice cream (made by the local ice cream parlor) were all of high quality and intense flavor. Overall, excellent value for money. The owner was extremely friendly and attentive, and all the ingredients were locally sourced. We highly recommend this restaurant!

A pleasant and relaxed evening out. Very attentive welcome by the hostess. The selection of dishes on offer is a treat in itself due to the enthusiasm with which they are presented. Each course is a culinary journey. The chef/sommelier also brings the plates to the table, offers advice, and tells a lovely story about the accompanying wine. All in all, we had a wonderful evening and it is certainly worth a return visit.

A truly special experience. You can't just make a reservation. You call a friendly lady, the hostess, and you can discuss availability on your preferred date. We also had to make some time adjustments. It's a cozy restaurant with a limited number of tables. The hostess runs the front of the house and takes good care of her guests. The host, who also occasionally brings the plates, is in the kitchen, supported by a younger assistant. But what a wonderful experience it was! We were a group of four, plus a six-year-old child. Because there's no menu for children, he had already eaten well beforehand (after consultation). But he was given a small plate so he could sample our dishes. The menu consists of a selection of starters, main courses, and desserts. There's not much choice, but there's something for every gourmet. I personally chose the pork belly instead of carpaccio, and the confit duck leg instead of the tenderloin. Everything was incredibly delicious and well-seasoned. And you'll definitely want to share your delicious meal with others. Note: don't expect heaping plates of fries with satay or schnitzel and salad. Only come here if you appreciate a good meal.

The bistro is always fully booked. 😉😊 It was another wonderful evening. A very sophisticated and delicious menu. We're always thrilled! 🤩 We've marked our menus in the photos. Whether it's prawns or bacon for the appetizer: a dream! Duck or beef fillet, it's hard to choose: highly recommended! Crème brûlée or the Gorgonzola parfait (a must-try 😋😍): incredibly delicious! We've been coming to Texel for many, many years and have never been to Freya. Usually because it was full. The empty Eilandkeuken (Island Kitchen) across the street stares at us sadly, as we used to go there often. This time, however, there was a table available, and it turned out to be a wonderful experience. They work hard, so the pace is good. The food is simply delicious, not "Michelin-star" but simply flavorful and well-prepared. Cuisine bourgeoise, to stay in the bistro atmosphere. Delicious wine by the glass, warm atmosphere, and a good "pk" ratio. The only downside: no good bread on the table.

December 13, 2025. About 9 years and 11 months ago, I dined here for my 40th birthday. And now, a weekend on Texel with my in-laws. That meant dining at Freya's. It immediately felt like old times. And we hadn't exaggerated: everyone enjoyed it. The menu is surprising, with unique dishes. Because we were a slightly larger group, we submitted our menu choices in advance so the chef could plan his meal more effectively. An added bonus for us, as it meant we could start drooling all day anticipating what was to come. I had a delicious mussel and prawn dish as a starter, lamb stew/curry for the main course, and a Gorgonzola parfait for dessert. Everything was incredibly delicious. We won't wait another 10 years, but would love to return in the summer.

We go to Texel very regularly and discovered this restaurant while walking a few years ago. Unfortunately we ran out of time then. Then our children were born and with small children a course meal is probably rather difficult. But now we have finally done it. And the wait was worth it! It was stunningly delicious. The service was great. The evening was beautiful. Plan ahead and reserve. Bring your time and you will have a great time. And all of this at (almost) fair prices.

We have been stopping here for years when we are on Texel. The change of owners has made no difference to us. Another delicious meal and lots of attention, despite the crowds. Never had any problems with the food due to, for example, a lot of salt or fat and that is sometimes different elsewhere. Good wines too. Simply delicious dishes prepared with care in a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely next time!

The food is good. The atmosphere with the new owners is less personal. A glass of tap water with the dry(!) wine is not possible, only a bottle for a fee, even though we had ordered a 3-course menu! When clearing the table, you are not asked whether you liked it. Tablecloths fluttering from the fans under which guests were eating. No longer a must for us for a weekend on Texel...

Freya's new owners gave me a less warm feeling than the previous ones. The food was good, no problem. However, our request to have a glass of water with dinner was answered in a rather matter-of-fact manner with: “No, that is only possible if you want a bottle.” I think it's a miss. Then another point of irritation: the loudly running fans even blew the tablecloths into motion. People were visibly bothered by it. Finally: a pity that afterwards we were not asked whether everything had been to your liking and whether the food tasted good. Anyway, I missed the personal attention that certainly belonged to this restaurant.

Visited this restaurant for the first time last year and it was a very pleasant experience. Now for the second time we had a delicious meal and what made the evening even more pleasant was the very pleasant atmosphere. The super friendly, no-fuss service makes it perfect. In short, highly recommended for a pleasant dinner. The owners work with so much genuine passion and you experience it right on your plate.

Had dinner at Freya yesterday and it was great! This is a hidden gem. The caramelized asparagus, the utterly brilliant fish soup and halibut were sublime. Nicely drinkable prosecco, chenin blanc, a grune veltliner and a delicious port were a good match. This is coupled with the excellent service and warmth of the owners. I don't understand the (previous) negative stories. We had a great evening and will definitely come back.

Had dinner at Freya yesterday: a very disappointing experience! A few years ago we thought the food there was a fantastic experience, delicious, just take a look at the plate on the Michelin site! Unfortunately, that was before the takeover in May 2023!!! And the Google, Michelin and TripAdvisor reviews are also based on pre-acquisition experiences! The current owners do not reach that level at all: in addition to slow service and a wine list that sometimes recommends the same wine for different dishes, the dishes are downright mediocre: a watery soup, crispy pork belly that turns out to be a limp piece of bacon, halibut with a crispy topping that turns out to be toasted breadcrumbs. in a broth of leek and lots of carrot, which makes the halibut look like a freshwater fish...The desserts are also not surprising. In the past, a lot of local products were used, but now the menu is boring. Unfortunately no recommendation.

Today we had a really delicious meal at Freya's. The vegetarian dishes were delicious and the South African cake with custard and whipped cream was the absolute highlight. The atmosphere is cozy and homely and the owners are very friendly. Definitely recommended!

Unfortunately not a good experience. Friendly staff but there is no real cooking, just heating. Starter lukewarm and cowardly. Main course meat was not available in medium rare because it was already pre-fried. Well. Tasteless potatoes, very few vegetables. And it also took a very long time, the interior is special (but that's personal). We honestly don't understand the positive reviews.

Ein 3-Gänge-Menu für 37,50 wird zusammengestellt und dann liebevoll zubereitet. Zwischen den einzelnen Gängen gibt es Pausen. Der Genuss steht im Vordergrund. Wir haben einen wunderbaren Abend verlebt. Beim nächsten Texel-Besuch kommen wir wieder 😊 Wichtig: unbedingt reservieren!

Hoewel je lang van te voren moet resereveren want inmiddels kent elke foodie liefhebber dit adresje wel. :-) Een jong echtpaar met passie en liefde voor het vak runt de tent en dat doen ze fantastisch. Elke gast krijgt aandacht en er is tijd voor een praatje terwijl tegelijkertijd iedereen op tijd zijn eten krijgt. Het eten is vers bereid dus de logistiek in de keuken is tip top in orde. Vooraf kies uit 4 verrassende voor- , hoofd- en nagerechten met veelal Texelse producten.

Tolles Restaurant in Den Burg auf Texel. Erstklassige Inselküche mit regionalen Produkten, leckere Menues und absolut freundlicher Service.....und das zu einem fairen Preis. Das Restaurant verfügt nur über wenige Tische, insofern ist eine Reservierung notwendig. Absolute Empfehlung !!!

Na al meerdere vergeefse pogingen om tijdens het verblijf op Texel te dineren bij Freya was het dan nu eindelijk zo ver. De verwachtingen waren na enkele jaren wachten natuurlijk hooggespannen. De ontvangst was zeer hartelijk en na later bleek een voorbode voor een ongekende gastvrijheid en enthousiasme. De menukaart was overzichtelijk en beknopt, maar liet tegelijkertijd een diversiteit van (regionale) producten zien. Het voorgerecht was (h)eerlijk en perfect in balans met pure smaken die elkaar aanvulden en versterkten. Ook de hoofdgerechten waren perfect op smaak en alle ingrediënten op het bord ondersteunden het hoofdingrediënt, heerlijk Texels lam. Géén onnodige opsmuk, maar pure smaken die perfect tot hun recht kwamen. Het nagerecht was "van de overkant", maar paste desondanks perfect als afsluiter van een heerlijk diner. Al met al een heerlijk harmonieus menu dat enkel geëvenaard werd door het enthousiasme en positieve energie van de gastvrouw. Wat een perfecte synergie tussen man en vrouw, kok en gastvrouw. Wij kunnen niet wachten om terug te komen en ons weer te laten verwennen in jullie fantastische restaurant.

Wat een fijn en klein restaurant om samen te kunnen genieten van de heerlijke gerechten. Freya echt een aanrader om lang van te voren te reserveren als je in Den Burg bent.
