Fried chicken taken to a new level. Never had better! Always happy to go back.

Had a great meal at Pollo in De Koog! What a wonderful surprise! The food was really delicious, with the corn on the cob as the absolute standout – they were truly delicious. Everything fresh, well-seasoned and beautifully served. What also stood out was the friendly and hard-working staff. You can tell that they really do their best to keep everyone happy, and they do so with a smile. The atmosphere is relaxed and hospitable, exactly what you are looking for after a day on Texel. We will definitely come back here! Highly recommended if you are in De Koog and fancy a tasty, well-prepared meal.

Very cozy restaurant with real fresh quality products. Friendly staff. Recommended bread with spread as a starter. Main courses definitely worth an 11. I had the pull chicken burger and my wife the pull chicken salad. The sweet potato bravas came with a sauce that was too spicy for my wife but perfect for me. The apple compote was perfect and also recommended. Unfortunately we didn't have dessert because we were really FULL. Thank you for this excellent evening and food. We will definitely come back to eat here. It will probably be a day trip but it is definitely worth it!!!!!!

In itself a nice cozy place and we enjoyed ourselves. Ordered the satay twice, where the fries were really overcooked. The satay sauce was a bit spicy. Only when paying the bill they ask if everything was to your liking. I think that if that had been asked earlier we could have given our opinion sooner. Nevertheless, the nice man who eventually helped us was able to reduce the bill a bit, which we appreciated. In short, good food - really - but you don't get a second impression on a first visit.

Went here for dinner based on the reviews. The tea towels on which the cutlery is placed are striking. Strange to me, and after the waitress explained, my partner and I had something to talk about. Excellent menu and something for everyone. Ordered chicken thigh satay with fries and homemade mayonnaise. The plate was neatly presented and the fries were served separately. The satay sauce was too spicy for me, but tastes differ. The fries were so hard that I almost broke my teeth on them. In between, they didn't ask if everything was to my liking, otherwise I would have definitely said so. It was busy and very noisy. When I had finished eating, the waitress came to ask if the food tasted good. Indicated that the fries were much too hard and she said that it was because of the homemade herbs that were on top. So they didn't listen well to what was said. The owner came over and I expressed my dissatisfaction about the fries. He immediately said he would take the fries off the bill. Excellent solution. I also said that the satay sauce was too spicy for me, but indeed, tastes differ. My partner went to pay and the fries and my satay were taken off the bill. It wasn't necessary and I thanked him for the goodwill. That was definitely a plus.

Addendum: We were the first in the restaurant and there was no one else there. So we would have had more than enough space; that excuse doesn't hold water. Furthermore, there is only one vegetarian dish, and that is the burger. If they aren't aware of that, they should rethink their menu these days. Our main reason for leaving was the abysmal and disrespectful treatment from the manager and her server, who couldn't have reacted more disgustedly and annoyed. Their reaction perfectly illustrates why you shouldn't engage in direct discussion with such people, especially when you're on vacation. If you're treated like that for simply being there, then I don't want to know how such people react to face-to-face criticism. You can truly do without that on vacation. Last but not least, their treatment of guests has been criticized many times in the reviews; a little self-reflection never hurts anyone! I've rarely experienced anything so unfriendly! The manager immediately told us to leave the stroller at the other end of the restaurant. We immediately felt uncomfortable and unwelcome, so we left the restaurant immediately.

No chicken seen but we didn't come for the pollo either. Our arrows were set on the tiramisu. The owner didn't fail at all with this seemingly simple but for the connoisseur treacherous task. A bit pricey but ultimately worth every penny. This gives confidence to also try the chicken on a possible next visit

Pollo – absolutely brilliant! I was at Pollo in the Koog today, and let me tell you: I'm absolutely thrilled! The staff is super friendly and relaxed – you immediately feel at home. The pulled chicken burger was simply amazing – juicy, deliciously seasoned, simply perfect. For starters, we had the pulled chicken tacos – also really tasty and beautifully presented. The portions are large, so you'll definitely be full. They also offer a really good selection of beers, which rounds off the whole experience perfectly. Everything was spotlessly clean, which isn't something to be taken for granted. In conclusion: Everything is just perfect here – food, service, atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!

A must go! Amazing food for a fair price and a great service! We arrived late, but we were welcomed anyway. The chicken was amazing, and the service was warm, funny, and sincere. I would suggest going to anyone. 5+ start because the tiramisù was something else, one of the best we've had in a restaurant.

New to me in De Koog (haven't been to Texel for 4 years), but what a success!!! Pulled chicken burger is amazing, the tent is cheerfully and cozily decorated and the service is perfect.

We didn't think the service was that great. My chicken was OK, but I thought it was a bit underseasoned. My wife's veggie burger was great.

Ate at Pollo today. Half a chicken, Indian style. The meat was tender and juicy, and the flavor was outstanding. It was truly the best chicken I've ever eaten. Simply amazing. The salad had a fantastic dressing. Amazing.

What a nice restaurant! First plus: dogs are allowed. More importantly: the food is delicious and the service is great! The owner is passionate about his business and the staff is friendly. We had brie from the oven beforehand: delicious! As a main course we had the Oriental chicken and the Stubborn chicken with nduja. Tender, flavorful and really well seasoned. I would make the crossing to Texel more often just to eat here.

Very good restaurant in the heart of De Koog. Service, ambience and food are top. Be sure to try the half chicken with herbs and the cauliflower bites.

Yesterday the three of us went to Pollo without a reservation and were lucky that there was still a table available for us. I chose the steak version without asking what was behind it. "Courage" sometimes pays off, I was surprised with a dream of meat, more tender than tender, perfectly fried and infinitely delicious 😍. I don't want to reveal any more, try it yourself. I would eat there again, highly recommended

Before we left, we saw that the special dish was fish, so we were not mistaken. Whether they sell fish or not, your fries just tasted like seafood! I didn't go to the wrong restaurant — the owner even had the Pollo restaurant logo, with the chicken, tattooed on his arm. We came to eat with the whole family. The food was fine. We ordered soft drinks, but the glasses came without ice and lemon. Furthermore, I hate fish, but the fries tasted like fish from the first bite - they are probably prepared together with fried fish. If someone eats a strict vegetarian diet, that is a real problem.

We were here for lunch. I had the pulled chicken burger with fries and my wife had the pulled chicken on bread. Both dishes were super fresh and beautifully prepared! The meat was very tasty. The pickled onions were amazing. I really enjoyed it here. The portion size was plenty. The boss, well I assume we were served by the boss, was very nice and friendly! It's definitely not the last time I've been here!👍🏻

Pollo is one of those restaurants that makes you say, "Do you remember when we ate there? It was delicious." Just a sincere and honest place. Food is made with attention and quality, this quality is also reflected in the decoration of the restaurant!

When I think of Texel, I think of Pollo. Been twice now and the food was delicious both times. The owner(?) makes it a party, so you don't just come for the delicious food, but also for the excellent atmosphere. The menu is not very extensive, but everything on it is equally tasty. Also not unimportant, there is no shortage of good wine and beer. Highly recommended, provided you like chicken of course😉.

Twice on Texel, twice at Pollo. A very pleasant surprise the first time, and still just as delicious upon return. Nice atmosphere, very friendly service (thanks for all the photos!) and delicious food. We will definitely come back next time on Texel!

Cozy restaurant with cheerful and very nice staff. Ordered half a chicken twice, in combination with fries and kippeling. Everything was very tasty, the 'nduja chicken is definitely recommended! Compliments to the chef and staff. The only 'downside' would be that the chicken is not local, which could be a nice bonus for a chicken restaurant on Texel, but with this delicious taste that is actually not a problem ;-).

We enjoyed this restaurant during our trip to Texel and we decided to visit again before heading home. The food is very delicious and freshly made when you order it as we see it getting roasted from our seats. A great value for the price! The service was quick, attentive, and welcoming, even with an infant in our group, which we really appreciated. For food, the Piri Piri Chicken stood out if you enjoy spicy dishes, while my husband particularly liked the ‘Nduja. Both were well-prepared and flavorful. It’s a spot I’d happily recommend and would visit again when in the area. A reliable choice for good food and friendly service.

We stopped at Pollo after our walk on the beach with our two dogs. The dogs were no problem and we were able to enjoy wonderful chicken. An absolute “to do” for all chicken lovers. Highly recommended.

Price performance ratio is underground! How can you justify such prices for a meal like this? 15€ for half a (dry) chicken - without fries, without sauce, without anything! The taste was absolutely 0815 and the meat was far too dry! Then the service...an older gentleman served us (glasses, white beard, half-bald). unfriendly, intrusive, cheeky and disrespectful. We were so stupidly insulted by the gentleman because we just sat down at a table after no waiter came. Especially since at first we thought that we were simply approached by some confused customer, as the gentleman had a very unkempt appearance and was still wearing some kind of clothing from which one could have guessed that he was an employee. Just unprofessional!!! I have never felt SO UNCOMFORTABLE in a restaurant, or should we call it a snack bar, because when it comes to food, it is that and NOTHING more! Actually we should have gotten up and left, I have no idea why we didn't just do that. Probably because we were so shocked and offended. Afterwards we went to a pizzeria, because these measly, overpriced, laughable portions just don't make you full! So we can NOT RECOMMEND THE SNACK! WORST “restaurant” visit of my life.

Opted for the takeaway option and did not disappoint! Food was great, chicken was very tender, juicy and taste and the side dishes were also great. Everything was properly wrapped and ready to eat. While waiting for the food, we saw nothing but happy faces in a full house. Will come here again next time we visit Texel!

After a number of years I went back to eat at Pollo de Koog. The chicken still tastes great. But what happened... The chicken now costs €27 and when paying it turns out that for the bowl of fries and the raw vegetables you have to pay €4.50 twice. Well, then you're going to lose stars with me.

A very nice and cozy restaurant with top quality food and very child-friendly! An owner who knows how to create a wonderful moment for your guests! Until next time, when we can enjoy Texel again!

When you say chicken, you say Pollo. A little bit hidden at almost the end of the shopping street. The design is effective. A restaurant with a semi-open kitchen and a neatly dressed kitchen staff. The service is friendly and attentive. I have eaten here twice now and now know that if I want to eat chicken, I just have to go here. The chicken livers are highly recommended as a starter. A beautiful and tasty dish. Surprisingly the gingerbread at the bottom of the plate. This absorbs the red port sauce nicely and gives the dish extra flavor. The chicken soup is served in a special way. A plate with the necessary ingredients in the middle and the broth is poured from a kettle onto the plate at the table. If you like it spicy, take the chicken piripiri as a main course. The Indian spiced chicken is also tasty. You can choose from half or a whole chicken. You must order side dishes separately. If you don't do this, you only eat chicken! For dessert, Pollo's eggnog is highly recommended. A beautiful dessert with cookie crumble at the bottom of the glass, delicious ice cream, farm boys, eggnog and whipped cream. In addition to the menu, they currently had a mocha/caramel mess with beachcomb and ice cream. I didn't actually find the beachcomber. This wasn't quite my dessert. So next time, because there will definitely be one!, I'll take the lawyer.

Super tasty food and great service! We had half a chicken with burrata and tomatoes (I forget the name of the dish), which was delicious. In addition, the round steak was also tasty, so you can still eat well here even without the desire to eat chicken. The service was incredibly friendly, it made us feel very comfortable and welcome, even with a 1.5 year old little one. By the way, he was given pencils to draw on the menu coloring page. All in all a very good experience and definitely worth repeating when we are back on Texel!

This was by far the best restaurant visit I have ever experienced. However, I am amazed at the isolated negative reviews. The boss is in a good mood and the food tasted great. Everyone has their own taste. But you shouldn't exaggerate the negative reviews. Just don't eat out.

I had piri piri chicken...good tasting...maybe a little small. My companion had pulled chicken salad...which was also delicious. Overall, I found the prices to be just about reasonable. That's why I looked at the many positive reviews here afterwards. The operator's responses were striking when someone gave a bad review. These are no longer as nice as the operator claims. Also fits with my observations in the restaurant. Anyone who just sits down somewhere has lost. Guests at the next table were vigorously warned that they should listen until the end when he explained the menu. I think the guest is not king here.

The boss seemed passionate about his work and he was funny and kind! The food was good but the main strength of this restaurant is the nice atmosphere😊

We had a great evening at Pollo. We read the recommendation in a German newspaper and can only confirm the positive reviews. The starter bread is a lot and incredibly tasty. And we really enjoyed the chicken. It was a great evening and we can only recommend the restaurant.

The Pollo is a must for every chicken lover. Chicken in every preparation form. We were there twice.

Recommended....I came across it by chance. Ate there with my wife.....On the recommendation of (I think Bart) I chose the Kip Eigenwijs... Delicious...can't make anything else out of it...especially with that homemade BBQ sauce on it. If you want fries and/or vegetables, you have to order them separately...but 1 portion of fries and 1 portion of salad turned out to be enough for the two of us. As an appetizer we opted for a loaf of bread...this is also really worth it as an appetizer...One loaf of bread is more than enough for 2 people...delicious with those herbs etc on it. The staff is, at least in my experience, pleasant and friendly. Someone also came in wearing a shirt that we only wear during carnival here in Brabant😉 I suspect it is the owner, he also helped and had a chat with just about everyone in the shop...friendly guy👍 All in all a pleasant experience. On our last evening of 7 weeks on Texel we wanted to have a small bite to eat. We are real chicken eaters. What a delicious chicken thigh satay. So tender we really enjoyed it. What we also liked was that there was a choice of several vegetables. The grilled cabbage was excellent. Fast service. Good hardworking staff walked around. Lovely place with good food. We ordered a salad with pulled chicken, half of a chicken with mango sauce, fries and croquettes. Portions were very big, so for us it would be easy to share just one half of a chicken for 2 adults. Staff members were very nice and friendly. Prices are just average for the Netherlands, but in relation to the taste and the portion size it’s better than average. Highly recommend the place.

Not the type of treatment you expect when you walk into a restaurant. Specially felt not welcome when we ordered the food and drinks since looked as if the waiter was making fun of us. Also weird when a second waiter was ordering the drinks from an unusual distance from the table. Then I walked to the bar to asked if everything we ordered was clear and one of the worker was pissed off because I just asked. Very weird people I would say and never experience that on a restaurant.

Definitely recommended, but also visit Aunt Sjaan. This restaurant has a charming atmosphere, service is excellent, and the meals are delicious. So if you have visited Pollo, plan a visit to Tante Sjaan... you should not miss this during your visit to Texel...

This was by far the worst restaurant visit we have ever experienced. Unfortunately, the negative reviews here confirm every single criticism, and we are amazed at the positive reviews. When we entered the restaurant we were neither greeted nor acknowledged. After we found a table ourselves, the boss stormed up to us and asked in an extremely rude manner what we were thinking. This unfriendly welcome is also reflected in the negative reviews. We remained friendly and asked for a table for two. The boss reacted annoyed, then simply disappeared and left us standing there without helping us. Communication doesn't seem to be his strength. Other guests after us had similar negative experiences: they were ignored and treated unkindly for a long time. After we were finally able to order drinks, we were treated rudely again when we wanted to order our food at the same time. Instead of taking our order, he ignored us and disappeared, saying he had to bring the drinks first. An extremely unprofessional and rude attitude - I have never experienced anything like this in any restaurant before. The food was average at best, the fries were rather limp and didn't justify the price at all. The service was the real problem: unfriendly, unprofessional and completely customer-unfriendly. Particularly inappropriate was the behavior of the owner, who sometimes seemed to mock the guests' body shapes. I also personally received negative comments when he made unprofessional comments about my body shape. Such behavior is completely unacceptable and shocking. Overall, the service was extremely unfriendly and the entire restaurant visit was a bitter disappointment. I absolutely cannot recommend this restaurant and strongly advise anyone not to eat there.

Tonight I had a bite to eat at Pollo with my girlfriend. The food was authentic and delicious, the atmosphere relaxed and the service topped it off. Highly recommended. Tip: Try the Pimientos de Padrón or the fried pointed cabbage as a side dish.

It is a really good chicken restaurant, I have been there 3 times now and it has been great 3 times. Friendly service, an owner who likes to have a chat or check if everything is tasty. Staff exudes pleasure. Anyway, the dishes are always perfectly prepared, so the chicken fillet remains nice and tender. In short, a nice chicken restaurant that should not be missed if you stay in De Koog.
