What an evening! The food was fantastic, a real treat. Our waitress deserves praise: nice, quick, and helpful. The owner came across as a bit less friendly, but perhaps he was just having an off day. Downside: when paying, we were informed that cash only is accepted, unless your credit card was issued outside the EU. There is one ATM available that costs €4. Because of this, we unfortunately couldn't tip our amazing waitress, which is a shame. This payment policy really should be clearly stated at the door and when ordering. Despite this unpleasant ending, we had a wonderful evening, but this little detail still lingered. EDIT: I just received a message from the owner stating that debit card payments are also possible. It would be nice to add that to the bill and pass it on during checkout so that the customer can consider that option as well.

Today is the first day of our holiday on Texel! On the recommendation of a colleague who comes here often, we made a reservation at Pollo. My wife had the Butter Chicken, my son the Burger, and I the Satay. We had a delicious meal! Hence the dishes with a capital letter! We will definitely come back again, because all those half and whole chickens look damn good too.

We were very satisfied. The food was delicious and the value for money was excellent. The service was friendly, and the atmosphere was quiet and very pleasant. We'd love to come back!

The food was delicious, however, we didn't like the service or the atmosphere. We weren't greeted very warmly, and consequently, I didn't feel welcome or comfortable there, which was a real shame.

We were on Texel a week ago and had a great time on the island. We ate here on both our first and last days and weren't disappointed. The chicken was really delicious and juicy. The owner is a real character, and we really liked his assertive manner, and the young waitress was absolutely lovely. We felt very comfortable with you. Yes, prices are generally a bit higher on the island, but that's just seasonal, and the groundwork has to be laid in the summer. Of course, we still get guests in the winter, but not in such numbers. So it's perfectly reasonable to charge a little more. The important thing is: you get quality and good service for the price. We'll be back next year! 👍

Ordered the chicken burger. There was no sauce on it. A lot of chicken on there, two slices of tomato and some lettuce. The bun was already soggy when I arrived home, because of all the fat dripping out of the burger. For that price, I expected more. Waiter didn't seem very kind, maybe he thought I was impatient, which wasn't the case.

We ate here with the family two days in a row, it was that good. Vincent is a nice, sociable guy who wants to make his guests feel welcome. Portions are big enough (I'm a big eater but I rolled away from the table) and prepared with love. When we are back on Texel, I know exactly where we'll be eating. In short, Pollo is highly recommended!

Simple dishes executed perfectly. Had a great evening for a reasonable price. I'm jealous of De Koog; I wish I had a place like this in my hometown! Update 2026: the quality is still absolutely top-notch. The menu has been updated and I really enjoyed the Surf and Turf.

Yesterday, my wife and I ate some truly delicious chicken here. I finally had a piri piri chicken the way it should be, and my wife had a normally seasoned chicken. Both were delicious; they were very flavorful and wonderfully tender. And the Jamaican chicken drumsticks beforehand were also super tasty. We will definitely be back here again.

I can only confirm all the positive things said in the other reviews! We spontaneously arrived in town and wanted to grab a quick bite. We turned into the small street in the town center, and the second shop on the left immediately caught our eye. We glanced at the menu on the wall and were soon inside. The menu is very varied... naturally, it's all more or less poultry, which was excellent. We had several dishes, from regular chicken to surf and turf to butter chicken, and without exception, everything was excellent in both taste and preparation. Delicious, juicy meat... not overcooked... TOP! The appetizers, such as the bread with dips or the tortillas topped with chicken and cheese, were also very tasty. We'll definitely come back here... definitely worth a visit! Our dog was also warmly welcomed, which was an extra bonus. Thank you.

We went there with friends for a quick dinner without thinking too much about it. Well, what a surprise it was, because this is an actual restaurant with intent and personality. It is all about, as the name suggests, surprise surprise: chicken. It was perfectly cooked and seasoned; and even the sides and desserts were excellent. Cherry on top, the person who seemed to be the owner was also very friendly and welcoming. Sometimes, life is about eating some nice and simple chicken when you least expect it; and Pollo provides that. We left feeling nourished, fulfilled, but also slightly intellectually validated for having experienced something structurally sound. I can warmly recommend it.

The idea of ​​offering chicken dishes is a real success. The chicken is given a modern twist and is therefore quite exciting for the palate. The owner is a bit of a character, there's no better way to describe it. Since side dishes are ordered separately, the bill isn't as low as we'd hoped, but the prices are reasonable. The food was nice. I and my boyfriend ordered vegetarian madras with fried cauliflower. I ordered chicken and some fries. I asked the chicken to be fried further as I liked it brown fried chicken. The customer service was top notch, kind and observant.

Today I went to "Pollo" with a friend. Short name, short and sweet first impression - WOW! We had reserved a table, were greeted upon entering, and shown to our seat. By the owner himself, a very impressive man whose heart is clearly in this restaurant and the dishes he offers, as you can quickly tell. We were given a very friendly introduction to the menu, the daily specials were explained to us, and shortly afterward, our order was taken with a smile. We had opted for an appetizer and a main course. Although the restaurant was quite busy, we didn't have to wait long for our appetizers. I ordered Pollo's Tom Kha Gai, and that's where the first real "wow" moment came. The soup's garnish was brought to the table in a deep bowl, followed by what we'd call a "teapot," which the waiter used to pour the broth over the garnish. The aroma that filled the room as he began pouring was simply incredible. ... Presentation, aroma, and taste were absolutely 10/10. For my main course, I had the surf and turf chicken. Here, too, I hit the jackpot. It looked like something out of a comic book, practically perfect and flawless – and it tasted just as good! After we had both finished eating, feeling incredibly full and even happier, I went to pay. I expressed my appreciation to the owner and gave him a small tip. He was so pleased and thanked me, saying it was the final proof that I had chosen the right place. We will definitely be back at Pollo every time we visit Texel! To the other reviewers: if something isn't right, just report it, because they do their best to serve good dishes. Even 2 years after my previous review, the quality remains very high. The garlic & lemon half chicken is highly recommended!

The food was okay, but nothing special. In hindsight, we should have chosen a different restaurant. We hadn't made a reservation, but there were also very few other guests (Thursday from 5:50 pm).

What a fantastic place this is! We come here every year and it remains a treat. Delicious food at a good price. Pollo is also the only restaurant in De Koog that puts effort into the bread served beforehand. With time and attention. The host, Vincent, is a unique character. But that fits the theme perfectly. We had a delicious meal, despite the unwelcoming reception. The host's attitude was downright rude. He made us feel like he had to educate us. I don't experience that very often. So if you can handle the owner's inappropriate behavior, or if you have a similar attitude, you can certainly have a great meal there.

Because we had such a delicious meal here last year, we chose Pollo again tonight. It didn't disappoint; the food was delicious, and the service was excellent! They even arranged a dessert for me that wasn't on the menu (I think this should really be on the menu!), and they also adapted another dessert to my personal taste by replacing the brandy with amaretto. Highly recommended! (We're going again on Thursday 😋)

Such a relaxed, friendly vibe, quite hard to find. The kind of place where you instantly feel at home. The service is warm and quick, and it’s worth following the recommendations from the owner or chef; they really know their stuff, and you can tell everyone there is loves in what they do. The food is comforting and delicious. I liked it so much I came back a second time just to try more of the menu. Perfect on a chilly day. Also, the music selection is spot on and really ties the atmosphere together. A great spot in De Koog that’s absolutely worth a visit.

We were here for the first time today: Our half chickens (one spicy piri-piri style) were fantastic: tender, juicy, and crispy grilled. In Germany, we had the "Wienerwald" chicken chain until about 30 years ago, and it was always great. Today's "Pollo de Koog" was a pleasant reminder of that. Service was also excellent and prompt. We'd be happy to return.

The food is nice. Staff was friendly. Chicken was well seasoned and tender. But I was disappointed the meat isn't actually barbequed. I was expecting a nice open flame bbq and the flavour that comes from it but they obviously cook it electric rotisseries. Still would recommend it.
