Well furnished, pleasant atmosphere. Food is okay.

For the first time, I feel compelled to leave a review. We sat on the beautiful terrace in late summer, and nobody noticed us because we were the only ones there. No problem. We went inside to order two bottles of Juttersbock, and then took it outside on our own initiative. We paid inside for €15.90! So €7.95 for a bottle of Juttersbock. The beer wasn't on the menu yet, so we could have decided for ourselves whether to order it (or not). I asked if the lady in question was sure she had the right price, and she confirmed. Because I could hardly believe it, I emailed the company with the same question. I never got a reply, which is not good. Out of curiosity, I looked up the price of a bottle at the supermarket: €1.89. Is a company allowed to make a profit on this? Of course, it should. A price of, say, €6 would have been understandable, but I find this price inexplicable. It's a shame, because as mentioned, it's a very nice terrace, but if you have to ask what something costs every time you visit, it takes away some of the fun.

The food was delicious. There were three of us, and we were warmly welcomed, and everything was perfect. The ladies had the spareribs, and I had the "stalk burger." It was incredibly delicious, one of the best burgers I've ever had. The service was prompt and attentive.

What a fantastic restaurant this is. We had a wonderful meal tonight for six of us; every dish was delicious and fresh, and the service is traditionally excellent! The photos of the interior on Google Reviews don't really do justice to the coziness and warmth the restaurant exudes, though.

Disappointing experience – not recommended The restaurant feels more like a campsite diner than a full-fledged hospitality establishment. The atmosphere lacks character and ambiance. The service was okay and stood out for their warmth and hospitality—that certainly deserves a compliment. Unfortunately, the food left much to be desired. The bavette was tough, poorly prepared, and the plate was covered in meat juices. Sloppy and unappetizing. Instead, we were offered a hamburger and satay. These were fine, but nothing special and definitely overpriced for what you get. For this quality and experience, the price is unjustifiable. There are plenty of places in Den Burg where you can eat better and where your money is well spent. In short: despite the friendly service, this is not a place we will return to.

Unfortunately, there you are, standing in front of a closed restaurant. I thought I'd check beforehand if it was open, and yes, it says it is. Unfortunately, they neglected to update the opening hours to say they're closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. What a shame! But now we're enjoying ourselves at De Smulpot! 👌🏽

The environment is beautiful and cozy, and the staff is polite and sweet. My only remark is about the food. The tasty is not bad, but the portions are small for the price, and depending on the dish the quality could be better. Like, the bavette could come in a bigger portion (34€ for 100g) and a better cut, because mine was even difficult to cut (also as no one asked me how cooked I'd like, it came medium rare). The fries weren't crunchy as we expected, but soft on the outside. My wife liked her burger, but my son didn't. The desserts also could be better. So, I think it's a restaurant with a good potential but needs to improve and should not ask the current price for what is being served for now.

A little more expensive but excellent cuisine

Very very much decent Dutch restaurant. I liked the fries and mayonnaise and even the mustard salad dressing was great, coming from a person who hates mustard. My dorade fillet was ok, nothing special. I missed some sauce with it to make it shine. My friends took spare ribs and burgers. They were also quite good for a small city restaurant.

Looks nice from the outside and inside. Friendly staff but I still can't give it anything else than 1 star, why? Very simple, the price/quality ratio is completely off to say the least. The food is quite expensive, not a problem in itself but that does create expectations. Unfortunately, they are not met. Everything that was ordered here still had no taste. No experience, taste or feeling at all, they seem like microwave meals that end up nicely presented on a plate. A simple cafeteria can in most cases prepare and serve food in a container better. Do you want a nice beer on the terrace and the price doesn't matter to you? Then come by. Do you want to eat well? Then walk on by, I would say!

I don't give bad reviews easily. But unfortunately I do with this one. We regularly visit very diverse restaurants. From cheap to Michelin star (worthy) restaurants. Price Quality is completely out of proportion here. We sat outside on the terrace, we were early. About half past five I think. She politely asked if we wanted something to eat or just drink. We wanted both. We asked what beer was there. Sol was mentioned, I asked what kind of beer was that? To which she said it was the same as Desparados. Well, delicious I said! Well, really not!. Weak beer compared to Desparados. She shouldn't have made that comparison. I saw on the receipt later that it cost more than 7.50 euros. We were also told that they don't eat outside, and only inside. Okay, strange but fine. We asked for a sandwich in advance. She said that can be outside. Okay! Then she said, the spareribs only need to be in the oven for 10 minutes, the rest is ready faster. When we walked inside ourselves, the food was already ready on the table. (Except for the Bavette there. Had to wait another 5 minutes for it... Ok.... I've never experienced that before. The food seems to have been reheated. There were four of us. 2 teenagers and 2 adults. So we had Spareribs, Pork Satay and Bavette and a double burger. The presentation looked neat. But that's what it was. Satay fried through and through and tough in a container. Bavette seemed dried out and had no taste. My daughter who often eats spareribs, left them. It fell off the bone but no taste. Even my son thought there was a lot of meat on the burger but he missed some variety in his burger, such as vegetables on it. He also kindly said a tip for the restaurant is that it should be less well done. I mentioned it, she found it annoying and wanted to offer a coffee or a dessert. I honestly told her that I didn't feel like it anymore. In the end I had to pay the full price of over 155 euros. It's just really not freshly prepared and you can taste that to everything! Not recommended and a waste of money.

Cosy terrace. Had a great salad. Not special, but good.

Super child-friendly restaurant. Food was very tasty and service was fast. Since we were with 2 children, it was possible to order extra snacks with the children's menu, to prevent food waste. Highly recommended!

The food itself was very tasty. Some drinks expired or were brought incorrectly. Unfortunately the service wasn't good. Even to pay we had to ask twice and the side dish concept was not explained beforehand (as soon as they are empty you can reorder for free but that just takes time - beforehand there are only 2 small bowls for 3 people)

Delicious, relaxed food, which is not possible in every restaurant on Texel. You will be helped nicely and the food is good. If you don't have enough side dishes, you can have them replenished without paying extra. Enjoy your meal!

local food with local ingredients. secretly we came for the trio of lamb, but we were a few weeks too early. That also says something about the restaurant. fresher than fresh with respect for nature. Delicious platter with sausages, bread & pickled onion and gherkin and mackerel. Delicious main courses eaten with delicious red house wine. Been there two years ago, really recommended.

We had a really excellent meal, curry and satay. The service was in the skilled hands of young people who served the food with a smile. The only thing we have to comment on is the presentation of the 2 desserts. My husband had already finished his dessert and the dishes had been cleared before my dessert arrived. The reason for this was that the desserts came from different corners... that must be possible better. We didn't understand it, but a cup of coffee could have washed away that nasty aftertaste.

Went for dinner twice and enjoyed it twice. Once we had the Beef Bavette and once we had the Stal Burger. Price-quality ratio is good. Real quality for the right price. And very friendly staff. Highly recommended.

Delicious food and flexible service. Ordered everything together and 1 main course that was enough for 2 people. The meat tasted delicious and the marrowbone was a flavor explosion. Nice interior with good atmosphere. Toilets are neat and equipped with a feminine hygiene box, which I always find thoughtful of restaurants for ladies in need.

Haven't had such a good meal in a long time. Our clerk Vinnie was also very friendly and checked on us regularly. Nice menu with delicious regional dishes. Not a single point for improvement that I can think of, highly recommended.

Our server tonight was Vinnie, and what a friendly man he was! Rarely have I had such a nice server. A new guy was working at the bar, both he and the woman who trained him both contributed well to the nice atmosphere. The food was fantastic, both our starter and main course tasted delicious. Highly recommended for anyone looking for delicious food and a friendly atmosphere.

Very nice restaurant with a pleasant, rustic atmosphere inside. As a starter we had bread with various dips and roasted cauliflower. The main course is burgers, spare ribs and a vegan eggplant dish from the daily menu. The burgers actually tasted good, but unfortunately the meat was completely cooked through and dry. Special requests were listened to to a limited extent. Side dishes such as fries and salad do not all come with the dishes; these have to be ordered later. But you have to figure it out yourself, otherwise they will be left out. The burgers and spare ribs were reasonably priced as the portions were decent. At €24.50, the eggplant dish was clearly beyond the price/performance ratio. Service is friendly.

The service was unclear, I took two dishes with a side dish and only one side dish arrived... Same thing at all the other tables... Food arrived with hot peppers even though it wasn't written on the menu. Luckily I'm not allergic. I won't go back

Do you have a gluten allergy? Don't eat here, because there is a surcharge of 4 Euro! on the bread. Nowadays that is really no longer necessary.

Very nice eatery. Selected corner where the restaurant is located. If the sun has a chance to shine, this is a nice place to sit. Good music in the background. And the service is super friendly and relaxed. They really understand the products on the menu and are original in the names of dishes, but also in the combinations they make with/in the dishes. Had dinner on the terrace on a beautiful summer evening. The food was delicious (the lamb trio was too expensive for what it was), but the service was dramatic. Drinks arrived way too late, the chef's dessert was seriously not tasty but there was no staff to say that to. Then waited about 20 minutes to pay while the staff was busy cleaning up the terrace (where people were still eating).

Had lunch with 4 adults and 1 toddler. Friendly staff, good menu and children and dogs welcome. Neat toilets and one specially equipped for changing children. Our toddler even got a box of toys at the table to keep himself busy. Very nice restaurant if you have a small child with you.

For my lunch in Den Burg on Texel, I ended up at "De Stal Texel" my choice for a sandwich with ham and cheese. The lady at the counter was nice and helpful. At the Jumbo it takes 2 hours to park compared to 1 hour at the Other supermarket.
