The most fantastic place in Utrecht. If you can get on the balcony, you won't find it better. View of the Dom and the old canal. Food is of very high quality. Prices are very reasonable. That this place is not full every night is a mystery to me.

Used to be my favorite restaurant in Utrecht, but last time a bad experience. Hunger makes raw beans sweet. The food was fine but took an extremely long time. Portions were on the small side and the bill was all wrong. All in all a disappointing experience.

What a fantastic meal we had here. Lovely atmosphere, Delicious wines and attentive staff. Absolutely recommended.

Ate here years ago, it was fantastic then but now… oh dear. Jacques Brel blaring over the speakers for the “authentic” French atmosphere, English-speaking service with latex gloves - but what really surpassed everything was the long black HAIR in my main course without any compensation or gesture of sincere sympathy. “That must have been the chefs” Later I came back to it when paying, but even then hardly any reaction. I will never go back here.

Great food and good wine. Lead times are simply too long. The fact that staff communicate via a headset in a restaurant with 20 seats is indicative of the impersonal atmosphere. That is truly a shame

My expectations, given the name, the building, the location and the menu, were very different from reality. The staff speaks to each other via headsets that they wear continuously. The lady who mainly served us only spoke English. Unfortunately, they only serve soft drinks for non-alcoholics, no 0.0% beer or non-alcoholic cava or the like. The food was ok, but we expected more for these prices and, as with other restaurants, there was no brief explanation of what was served by the service. Very unfortunate and a missed opportunity.

I recently had dinner at this restaurant and it was a really nice experience. the food tasted delicious. Definitely a place I will come back to!

Okay, I'm not completely objective anymore. But it is always a treat to eat at Bistrome des Arts. Enjoy the delicious dishes, fantastic wines and very good service. It remains highly recommended in our city

Hidden gem! Pleasant and friendly atmosphere; as if you were in Paris and luckily stumbled upon it. Tasty, beautiful flavors and good food with a good price-quality ratio.

Terribly slow and rude service, absurdly long waiting time, and inedible salt-drenched food that had nothing to do with French cuisine. Avoid!

Stopped by by chance, looked in and immediately saw champagne and wine. I decided on a glass of Chardonnay. Exactly my taste! Be sure to go upstairs to the small but nice balcony, great view. It's a shame that I come from Germany.😍

This is by far the best food I have eaten in Utrecht in a long time. Everything was fresh, prepared with care, served warm and beautifully presented. The wines were excellent as well. I am not of the opinion the service is slow. My impression was the lady was very attentive and hesitant to bother my friend and I since we were conversing. Everything extra we asked for we got in less than 5 minutes. We spent 3,5 hours and for €80 per person this was a good deal. This is truly the only restaurant in Utrecht where you can get authentic French food. I see that the only people who are complaining about the service are foreigners. Please be aware that by Dutch standards, the service here is remarkable although it might not compare favorably to what you get in the States it on the South-East Europe. At the end I feel it is necessary to add that this restaurant has hands down the best view in the entire city. The cleanliness is also something to note since most Dutch restaurants are filthy by default. This one was spotless and that includes toilets as well. We will be returning here for sure!

In dit fijne kleine restaurant met uitzicht op de Oudegracht en de Domtoren hebben we langzaam en geduldig genoten van de Franse keuken. Een mooiere locatie is er nauwelijks. De kaart is eenvoudig, de wijnkaart overzichtelijk. Charmante patronne die hard moet werken. Lamsschenkel en Kwartel verrukkelijk. Bijzonder: vier gangen afgeraden omdat dat teveel zou worden.

We went to Des Arts again after years and what a fantastic meal we had. And what a view over the canal and the cathedral. All praise!

Sublime French restaurant both for the quality of the dishes and for the breathtaking view it offers. I didn't expect to see a French restaurant of this quality in Utrecht! The cuisine, for its part, was simply exquisite. Each dish seemed prepared with meticulous attention and quality ingredients. Well done !!

A pearl in the heart of Utrecht. With a view of the Oudegracht and the Dom. If you know the history of the owner, she immediately has a great favorability factor. And she cooks fresh French dishes for which she gets inspiration in France every year. Foie Gras is no longer on the menu since an aggressive campaign by activists, but a delicious Agneau, Sea Bass, stuffed eggplant, scallops, burrata, and much more make it a paradise for food lovers. Recommended if you don't want a quick meal and want to enjoy good wines and French cuisine!

Cher confreres vous êtes trompé vous disait N'importent quoi aucune respect cette. The person who chooses to look after him or her is very careful with the excuses given to them when they arrive at the restaurant. You spend a lot of time in your care and you are welcome to attend 3 hours for 4 people.

Beautiful, great wines, fine oysters

We were the only occupied table upstairs. First, a child kept coming down the stairs into the restaurant from the apartment above. Then the waitress seemed very put out when we only wanted a main course each. The waiter delivered an expensive bottle of wine and just plonked it on the table without pouring us any or offering a taster. We never received the water, nor the second bottle of wine we ordered so we wound up eating our food without a drink. We felt ignored and upset as we’d been excited to celebrate my friend’s birthday here. When we paid, the waitress didn’t even apologise for ignoring us or for not delivering our drinks. One lamb shank with literally three carrots cost €22.50. That’s not cheap. A few smiles and some attentive service is all we ask.

Ambiente piacevole, personale gentite. Ottima zuppa del giorno e buono il piatto principale. Bella la vista sul canale, peccato che ci sia un poco freddo nel locale tanto che le sedie sono fornite di coperta riscaldante.

You enter and imagine yourself in small, romantic Paris. The atmosphere is absolutely magical and then the card the power of les os more. Delicious dishes prepared with care and with the right taste... In short, an asset to Utrecht...I would love to eat here again.

Met mijn 2 zussen een weekend in Utrecht en ons oog viel op vrijdagavond op de achterkant van dit restaurant aan de overkant van de Oudegracht. Dat zag er zó gezellig en fijn uit dat we de volgende dag direct hebben gereserveerd. En dat was een goed idee. Hoewel de kaart zeer beperkt is qua keuze (dat viel een beetje tegen), waren de gerechten heel erg lekker klaargemaakt. Een goede wijnkeuze en zeer vriendelijk en attent personeel. De bediening was relaxed. Het is zoals veel mensen hier al zeggen een stukje Frankrijk in Utrecht (en ik kan het weten). De lamsbout was om te smullen en precies goed. De toetjes ook heerlijk. Maar ook de sfeer, de manier waarop, het uitzicht, echt heel erg leuk voor een mooie avond uit eten. Ik raad het aan, en ik ga er zéker nog eens naar toe.

Having a nice walk in Utrecht we saw this beautiful location on the canal and thought to check if there was place.. once we entered , we asked the guy behind the counter if they had a table for us close to the window and he looked kinda stressed … but after a short while , he told us to have a seat . That was nice . Once seated , we were not helped for at least 30 minutes , at that point ( after several attempts to be seen ), I walked to the counter asking the guy if we could see the menu . Another 15 minutes later , the menu was finally brought to us . As we had a movie to go to , decided to take something easy to eat and ordered also 2 glasses of wine . 20 minutes later , still no wine … ( while taking the order , I did ask the lady how long the waiting time was to which she answered “20 minutes “, and I thought that was reasonable ). So I kinda got worried … in the meanwhile it was past 21.00 ( so more or less an hour had gone by and we still had not even wine …) The guests sitting next to us noticed that we were taking about the slow service and informed us that they had been sitting there since 1730 and that they only had been served the appetizers, waiting for their main course since 45 minutes … At that point I went back to the counter asking the guy how long it still would take but the guy was extremely stressed out and would not even noticing me trying talking to him . So basically we took our stuff and decided to leave . The guests at the table next to ours , asked to cancel their main course and to get the bill . While I understand that if you want to eat fast , a French restaurant is not the place to be , I’d like to point out we would have had more than enough time IF we would have been helped on time . And IF when we entered the restaurant they already had problems serving the seated guests , we should have been warned . And when I asked the lady who took the order how long it would have taken , she should have been honest and tell us “ a very long time “ rather than trying keeping customers telling them something which was gonna be inevitably false . Afterwards I assumed they were temporarily understaffed but reading the comments , it seems like this issue goes back in time . We had a very nice dinner elsewhere , we were helped and served in no time . Le bistrot des arts has a 9 for the location but the service needs for sure improving .

Wat een feestje!!! Echt een avondje in Frankrijk in Utrecht. In het Frans aangesproken worden, een mooie zomeravond buiten op het terrasje boven de gracht. Heerlijk Frans eten met heerlijke wijnen. Super bediening. We wilden onze hoofdgerechten delen en dus ook de bijpassende wijnen. Dus kregen we beiden twee halve glazen. En in plaats van een voor-en een tussengerecht mochten we 2 nagerechten. Ik ga echt nog even nagenieten van deze avond!

Lovely, family-run French restaurant with a fun canal view. . Lamb / agneau is a specialty. Nice vegetarian options, too. Don't miss dessert, either. Will absolutely positively return. Merci.

Helaas ruim een uur op eten moeten wachten. Is wel prijzig. Wil je onder de €100 blijven met z'n tweeën, neem dan alleen een hoofdgerecht en een drankje. Kwaliteit van het eten was prima. Vriendelijke mensen.

Heerlijk smaakvol authentieke Franse keuken in een van de mooiste panden van Utrecht aan de gracht! Zeer de moeite waard om eens te gaan genieten van lekker eten en een fijne warme sfeer :)

Heerlijk gegeten in de serre aan het water! Hele prettige sfeer. Zuur om te zien dat het restaurant zo te grazen is genomen vanwege het froie gras artikel. Ik bestel het al 20 jaar niet meer sinds ik weet hoe ze het maken, en ben best nog een aantal restaurants tegen gekomen die het op de kaart hebben staan. (En ook een hoop mensen in mijn omgeving die het geen probleem vinden om het te eten gek genoeg..) Maargoed de eigenaresse heeft het netjes van de kaart gehaald, en de manier waarop de reviews de rating omlaag gehaald hebben, en dat het gisteravond op een vrijdag maar 1/3e vol zat, is denk ik een straf die buiten proportie is voor wat dit leuke restaurantje verdient.

Visited during my stay in Utrecht, and can I just say it was definitely one of the best places I've eaten at. The hostess was helpful, kind and attentionate, the restaurant was homey and pleasant, and the food was an absolute delight. I strongly recommand the lamb terrine for the entrée, the fish I had for main course was fresh and came with a fennel mousseline I simply could not get enough of, all paired perfectly with a few glasses of Chardonnay ! Would definitely go back again and again !
