Le Jardin in Wijk 06 Binnenstad

A beautiful place on first impressions: cosy and welcoming with stylish decorations and lovely plants all over. We were seated at a table in the conservatory area towards the back and were looking forward to a treat of an evening. It was a little surprising to be asked for a drinks order without a menu, even when I'd asked for a drinks menu but we ordered blind without knowing the full range of drinks choices or indeed prices. The menu concept was explained and we all went for the 5 course tasting menu and we were asked if we had any dislikes or intolerances. The amuse bouche arrived first and it was a beautifully presented little morsel. The next course followed closely after: a carrot based dish. We were asked if we wanted more drinks but still not offered a wine list. The wine delivered was lovely however and explained to us. A further course followed based on peas. Very tasty, very pretty, small but perfectly formed! The main course option was based on aubergine which is not my favourite so I went with the broccoli alternative which was just that, pretty basic broccoli. The others enjoyed their aubergine but it wasn't anyone's favourite course. The finale was a strawberry based dish enhanced with wasabi, a strange combination that kind of worked. It's definitely a treat meal kind of price at the top price range and the appearance of the dishes definitely matched that. However, spending that kind of money I'd have hoped a d expected more from the finesse of the service and taste of the main dish which has been part of a fine dining establishment when we've visited this level of restaurant elsewhere. However, for an absolute treat of a vegetarian meal I'd definitely recommend you to visit to see what you think...

A nice restaurant where they use seasonal products. Mainly vegetables, but there is also the possibility to supplement with fish/meat. The service is nice and adequate. The location under the trees on a square makes for a nice summer evening with good food and drinks.

Le Jardin puts vegetables in the spotlight, which is daring and interesting. This results in a five-course surprise menu, the dishes themselves are quite okay, but the whole thing left us wanting more. Especially for the high price level, I expected at least a few crackling dishes and unfortunately they were missing. The service was friendly, but somewhat forgetful (in vain promises to clean up spilled water and a mint tea that has not arrived to date are a shame). The wine arrangement was okay, but just like the food, not surprising at all. Too bad they didn't just bring a carafe of tap water to the table, but refilled it glass by glass and the non-alcoholic drink options were meager. All in all a pleasant restaurant that could do better, my two previous visits left a much more positive impression in any case. If in doubt between 3 and 4 stars, the food is the deciding factor for 3. Le Jardin will get another chance in a while.

What a top place this is. Staff attentive and friendly! Wine list not overly large but nice selection! Food; amazing. Beautiful vegetarian combinations that sometimes make you think; why don't I do this at home. Ambiance completely nice: varied in style and warm.

Had a nice meal with family (4 people). Nice atmosphere with small 'cheeses' under the lights in the back of the restaurant. With friendly and attentive service. We had chosen 4 courses (without dessert). Extensive choices of different flavors in the base vegan where one person had meat. Apart from me as a vegan, the other family members (flexitarians) were also convinced by the kitchen.

Best vegetarian restaurant in Europe! Incredible flavors and texture combinations, everything is of the highest quality, with quality ingredients without going overboard. The service is equally friendly and helpful, helping you make your choices. Head there!

Staff is professional, good and friendly. Gluten free options are great and make you feel like you are not missing out or that it is an extra effort. (That bread?! - so good!) Food was good, no fish or meat which I like but sometimes lacked some body. Highly recommended!

Delicious and interesting dishes. Everything can be vegetarian if you like but they can also add meat or fish to some dishes. The flavours are great and you will not miss meat at all. The wine pairing was well done with a couple of interesting wines. The service was excellent.

Main course was two wedges of grilled pumpkin. You can decide for yourself how filling that is. I didn't always find the flavors special either. Dessert was very tasty and well done I thought the service was very nice, but also a bit clumsy. Always place meat near the vegas, dishes that fell over while being put down. Furthermore, a friendly welcome and service. For this price there are more special and tastier places.

From the amuse to the devine last course of cheese and sweet wine.. this is a place that is not like others. And that's a good thing. Lovely service and food that is delivered with thought and care. My favourite.. the potato.. no mushroom..no cheese.. damn so good. Visit .. its not your usual place but it is very much worth your time.

Service was good, but the food was a bit disappointing. It seemed like a cheaper copy of other restaurants that use the same concept. In the end it just didn't work but it mainly looked like vegetables with a sauce. Quite tasty, but the price/quality ratio is not right. The tables in the lunchroom were also not set up very well

Beautiful and cozy restaurant with nice plants splitting the room in half, making true to its name! The staff is friendly and can help with wine parring which works really well with the dishes. If you do not drink alchohol they have the most delicious moctail I ever had with ginger ale, white chocolate and star anise. You will be surprised by the creativity of the chefs menu with unique tasting combinations and sensations. We had not a single dish which we did not like of all 5 courses. We even learned some new combinations of ingredients! Would visit this place again!

Good, but things were often forgotten. If I asked for something, I had to ask several servants. Dinner was delicious and the setting matched the name and food exactly.

What a culinary experience we had! We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the wonderful and attentive service and our own company. Very surprising taste sensations and you won't miss meat or fish at all. of the 6 dishes, 5 were very surprising (only the carrot dish was less appreciated by us)

Le Jardin offers a delicious 4-9 course menu, but the dishes were not very surprising. Vegetables play the leading role, but the preparation remains somewhat on the surface. The wine choice makes up for a lot, but the food did not blow us away.

Small dishes, 4 to 9 pieces. Essentially small works of art with subtle flavor combinations. Everything vegetarian, meat and fish are optional. Matching wines and lovely staff made our evening complete. Top restaurant.

We visited the restaurant twice last year and were amazed by the creativity and taste of the food. Especially when you cook a lot and cook well yourself, you want something special when you go out to eat and that's exactly the case here. I'm only writing this review now because I saw that someone had negative comments about the meat or fish allowance offered. The side dish really wasn't anything special, but that's not why you go to a vegetarian restaurant. On the second visit I left it out and then everything was perfect.

I think this was the 6th or 7th time I've eaten here. Food was delicious, as always. I just think the “double occupancy” concept they have introduced is really impoverishing. It now just seems like a commercial tent, where not the guest experience but making money is the starting point. It is also annoying if you are on time for the second round and your table is not yet available, and you then have to look away from people who also pay €80-90 per person. Stop this le jardin, otherwise you will lose a regular customer.

The food is special. Default is without meat, which I think is a good idea and also opted for it. But the dishes were not quite to my taste.

We were a group of three in Le Jardin on the day the autumn season started. The atmosphere was wonderfully casual and yet you did not have the feeling that you were in a simple brasserie. The staff was not always in the foreground, but service-oriented and very knowledgeable. They were also able to provide good advice on suitable wines and always indicated what the options were with regard to, for example, the number of courses (which could be expanded continuously). The food was PHENOMENAL!!! There must be an artist in the kitchen, because these tasteful works of art would not look out of place in an appetizing exhibition. The ingredients used are local and organic and the dishes are almost exclusively vegetable based. As a meat and fish lover, I got a 'touch' of both during two courses (1st dish had some crayfish and another dish had a small piece of delicious, tender duck breast), but I didn't miss anything else! In fact, I would have also liked the vegetarian version of both dishes. There were also vegetables that I prefer to ignore in everyday life, but which were prepared here so fantastically that it seemed as if each and every one of them was a favorite dessert. In short, we were completely overwhelmed by this evening and enjoyed the nine courses. Recommended!

The restaurant had a cozy, elegant, and modern vibe. Instead of a menu, you choose 4 to 9 courses, and the chef picks the dishes, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The quality and the flavors were good, but the dishes felt a bit too basic. They were beautifully presented as gourmet, but the taste didn't match the expectations.

Beautiful romantic location with beautiful terrace. Terrace is in 2 parts with a road in between where cars and trucks drive 1 meter from your table, but fortunately there are not many. On the terrace there are benches and 2 types of chairs, the black ones are OK, but the blue ones with the bars are terrible, painful for the buttocks and the backrest is also too low. Moreover, they are really not nice to look at. There is no menu, you can only choose the number of courses. So just a surprise menu. Vegan oriented but if you wish there is also fish and meat. The wine list is sufficient and the host has sufficient wine knowledge. The dishes are beautifully presented and taste good and the portions are not too large. The store is also beautiful to look at inside, with lots of plants and a green atmosphere.

Very strange experience here. At 1 p.m., on an almost empty terrace, we asked if we could eat. No, there was actually no room for us...... bizarre.

Sitting in the garden was amazing, food was so delicious. So I would recommend to sit outside and enjoy your meal🌼

Fresh food, good service. Worth the money.

We give it a 7. + nice place, nice concept that all dishes are prepared with vegetables, nicely laid out plates. - not many special flavors (Thai curry mayo was a nice one), the pace of the service was too high and it was mandatory to remove and put down the plates, quite little food per course and no side dishes, which may have increased the number, chairs were not seated tasty (outside); a pillow in the back would be good.

Le Jardin is a very nice place to eat. The food is of high quality, the wines served are carefully considered and the service is very adequate. Even though the food is very varied and tasty, I had eaten enough before I was no longer hungry. With a maximum of 9 courses, I had given up on course 4 and course 5 was because I was still hungry. Gastronomically, Le Jardin is a tour de force and I would definitely recommend the experience. I'll just keep it this one time.

In the summer on the terrace feels like a holiday. Beautiful dishes that are served with or without meat or fish upon request.

Everything is vegetarian, but you can opt for a little bit of meat and fish for an additional charge. Everything tastes equally good and looks neat. The restaurant is not cheap but definitely worth it

A few weeks ago me and my boyfriend had dinner here. Since it is a quite pricey restaurant (it cost 200 euros for 2), I thought it was a shame that the waiter poured beer into our wine glasses, as I really got the feeling that he was not taking us seriously (we are both 18, so that's why). The rest of the dishes were fine, just not for that price range. And if you added meat, it wasn't great either. I just thought it was a shame that we were treated this way by that waiter. The waiter was a bit on the younger side (male).

Amazing experience, I definitely recommend it. Caring staff that make you feel being a special guest, good price/quality and lovely interior (especially the last room with lots of plants). We’ve been here for lunch and dinner, both were great. I recommend to order ~6 rounds. I personally don’t eat a lot and for me even 4 rounds were enough, but every dish is so interesting and special that I wanted to try more and ended up with 7 rounds😊

Good food, attractive restaurant and top service!

The food is original and very tasty. It's nice that everything is basically vegetarian and meat and fish are an option. It looks nice and attentive and nice service. However, if I order a 4-course menu, I don't expect to leave the restaurant with a (still quite) appetite. For me personally the portions are way too small. I personally wouldn't call 2 pieces of falafel with a few strings of vegetables a main course.

Very nice culinary discovery in Utrecht. Service is smooth and pleasant. You can choose from different menus with a number of courses. It is a vegetarian cuisine, but exceptions (fish and meat) are possible. We were surprised and that was very pleasant. In short, well presented in an attractive, modern setting.

It was fine, but 4 courses was not really enough for fairly small eaters. Starter was really great and the dishes afterwards were also fine, but we still missed something. (Not necessarily meat - we eat vegetarian more often, but something to balance it out). Still had a nice evening, great service and nice location.

There is no map. You choose 3-9 courses. It is immediately stated that it is mainly a vegetable restaurant. Of course we already knew that. A piece of fish with the main course turned out to be possible, but we declined. The slant is 'French', so a glass of port beforehand was not possible. The corridors came too quickly for me; made a comment about that. Delicious food, but don't ask me what. Just like with appetizers: there is a lot included in every dish. The waiter indicated that 10 menus are created per year, so you won't eat the same food here as we do. A bottle of Sancerre for 65 Euro will help with the bill. Operation smooth and attentive. Ambiance OK, but a bit noisy. Final verdict: yes, I can recommend Le Jardin and will definitely come back

Delicious food, super vegetarian dishes. We had 5 for/between/main and 1 dessert, which was just right. Wine arrangement also great. The service completed the evening, especially the older gentleman who really upgraded our evening.

Nice atmosphere with lots of plants around you. We had a four-course dinner and it was very filling. Super tasty flavors, really refined with some dishes. There was 1 course that was a bit disappointing because the tuber was a bit hard. All in all, a delicious meal and highly recommended if you want tasty and tasty vegetarian food!

Mixed feelings Upon arrival we were seated in the front part of the restaurant (as the back is intended for groups) and we asked for a 5-course dinner. After the second course we asked if we could just have 4 courses as the couple next to us was loud (working on a laptop, calling in the meantime) and the atmosphere wasn't great. Additionally, the flavours didn't really form a whole and just left us with a bit of disappointment. However, all the plates looked very pretty. Due to us complaining about the couple next to us we were offered to have 5 courses but pay for 4 and that we could relocate to the back side. Here we felt more comfortable. At the end we got the bill for 5 courses nonetheless, but we didn't want to put more effort to ask for the earlier offer so just paid and left. The staff offered their apologies for the experience, which is a plus but overall it was a let down (price and taste wise).

Tuvimos un almuerzo sorpresa de cinco platos. Los primeros cuatro platos eran puramente vegetales. El último plato fue de nuevo a base de verduras con un trozo de pescado simbólico para mí y un trozo de ternera en un plato separado para mi pareja. El pescado y la carne eran tan obscenamente pequeños, que era ofensivo. Quizás deberían decidirse por ser únicamente un restaurante vegetariano. Si bien la comida sabía bien (pero no excepcional) , el bajo costo que habrían costado las verduras no se correlacionó con el precio que pagamos. No salimos con el vientre lleno y sentimos que era arrogantemente caro por lo que conseguimos.

What a restaurant in a great location! Vegetarian delights, top quality. Very pleasant service, who really empathizes and provides good information and advice. Tasty wines, quality has a price, but it doesn't go through the roof.

Ate at Le Jardin in Utrecht, we went for the 5 course menu. They take any dietary requirements and allergies into account very carefully. (peanuts / vegan) The hosts are professional and if they don't know something, it's no problem and they just ask the kitchen! really nice. We enjoyed it and will definitely come back! Thanks again.

Recommended. 16/4 went again with our family and supporters, 2 vegan, 1 vegetarian, 3 everything, including 1 nut allergy. No problem, plant-based, so good and creative that it is great for everyone. Super dishes. Super friendly and professional owner and employees. Here you really feel like a 'guest' again! Highly recommended.

Four of us had dinner at Le Jardin on March 19. What owner/sommelier Lars Mooren and chef Tamara de Borst show here is impressive. Seven delicious courses. Here the cooking is done at a high level with mainly vegetable ingredients (meat and fish can be ordered as ingredients). Excellent product knowledge by the wait staff and excellent wine suggestions by Lars Mooren. This was a wonderful experience. Belongs to the small top of culinary Utrecht, which also includes Stadsjochies and Hemel en Aarde.

Excellent quality in itself, but unfortunately the price / quality is below par for 110 euros per person for a 6 course dinner. Service seems a bit commercial and not authentic. 👍🏻 beautiful dishes, good taste and sufficiently large portions 👎🏼 do not want to put 'flat' tap water on the table while Vitens produces the tastiest sustainable water. Not of this time! 👎🏼 Sewage smell in the middle part of the restaurant SO: serve tap water and have a better range of alcohol-free beer! (and don't combine half empty bottles of the same thing back into 1 bottle, I saw them do it 😉)

For Valentine's Day we wanted to try fine dining at Le Jardin for the first time. We had high expectations regarding the food and service, but unfortunately this was disappointing. At the start the waitress offered to hang up the coats after which she then forgot. Not the worst but still a shame. We hoped to see a drinks menu as we do not consume alcohol, but unfortunately this was not available. For the second drink I asked for kriek beer 0.0 (ignoring whether that is normal in fine dining or not) I received an offer answer from the waitress that they only have Duke Jan or wine. The emphasis on wine is great at le jardin. It feels like you don't belong in the restaurant if you don't consume wine. The food: when making the reservation I had already mentioned that my girlfriend is allergic to nuts and peanuts. I did this again before dinner. They also offered fish/meat as an option. We wanted this, but they forgot to tell us that this costs extra. Even if it were only 5 euros extra per person, it is still unpleasant that no prices are mentioned. With our third dish, my girlfriend was served a nut substitute and I was served peanut. We watched this with amazement, as it can be life-threatening (as most restaurants know) for my girlfriend. In addition, the food was not excellent or even good for the price. It was just tasty but not for the price. The service: I understand that it can be a bit busier on Valentine's Day, but at the same time I also assume that you take that into account. We had to wait quite a long time for each dish. It took 3 hours for the 5 dishes we had. I personally think this is very long. After the 2nd dish, when we were specifically served by the waitress, the plates were half thrown down or at least not placed down properly. Finally, I would like to point out that after desert it is assumed that you want to indulge and have something to drink, while most people, including us, wanted to get the bill and go home. All in all not a good experience and certainly not worth repeating. I must say that we do not fit into the fine dining target group, but we could accept that and it was still a very unpleasant experience.

We were a bit confused by the scant information provided by the service. The concept was not completely clear to us. Number of dishes, vegetarian or not, and also whether or not they can be started at the fireplace. But: what taste surprises! Each dish was a new 'taste journey'. A truly innovative culinary experience! That made all the little ambiguities melt like snow in the sun. In terms of atmosphere, I love the green design, with many plants around you. Enjoyed!

The food was tasty and beautifully served. I did get the idea that we often got the same story with different dishes. But it's nice that there is nothing to choose from because I'm bad at that. Costs: about 200 euros for 2 people. (5 courses with matching wine by the glass, bottle or carafe cannot be ordered there)

I hesitated for a long time whether or not I wanted to write a review. We decided to do this because my dining partner and I were left with a bad aftertaste from our visit. The interior is nice, the atmosphere good, staff well trained. However, the food is incredibly disappointing. The dishes are simple and not well seasoned. The first course was a tartare with apple. For us, the dish lacked a bit of acidity and was not tasty. In addition, it is a dish that is simply served, there is almost no cooking/preparation involved. Then there was a course with salsify and tom ka sauce. These were just some stray salsify with a tom ka sauce that used way too much kaffir. This meant you couldn't taste anything else. My dining partner had ordered duck rillette with the main course. This was refrigerator-cold inside and did not seem freshly prepared (read: ordered ready-made). The courses came out of the kitchen very quickly one after the other and dessert was replaced without consultation by an extra entree due to allergies. The wines were tasty but they completely disappeared with the dishes. We also reported all this feedback to the staff on the evening itself, but unfortunately this was not picked up and was decisive for me to write a review after all. The table next to us was also dissatisfied and was told in the feedback they gave that this was the concept. Our feedback only said to pass it on to the kitchen. We both did not understand that nothing was immediately done with it. The concept is nice, but there are plenty of other nice places in Utrecht where you can eat a lot better vegetarian food at a better price. Shame! Oh and finally 'the preparation of rice' which is part of one of the courses. These were literally pieces of rice cake. The purchase prices of the dishes plus the work the chef has to do on the dishes absolutely do not match the menu price. Hence unfortunately only 1 star..

My favorite restaurant in town. They can really do magic with vegetables.
