Absolutely delicious, I can't name a single dish i ate there but everything was delicious from starter to main course to dessert 😋 I would definitely visit again. They made everything vegan for me and it was the best Michelin recommended place.

Le Jardin exceeded expectations. I'd like to refer you to the photos. Excellent service and a pleasant atmosphere.

We had a delicious lunch, a three-course meal with a glass of wine. Vegetarian doesn't have to be boring, as they prove here. But we still lost a star because of an absurdly expensive bottle of water (6.50) when we'd asked for "regular" water. No need, folks.

We were disappointed. The food was uninspired - the nice ingredients on each plate didn't matched with each other and most of them could have used some seasoning. The Wine and the cheese were very nice but altogether the price/value was off.

Pretentious for no reason. Took 2 hours and a half to serve mediocre food. Crowded way too many people in the space, its very loud and poorly ventilated. Music does not fit the vibe they're trying to have at all. Left hungrier than I came in. Would never come back.

On March 19th, four of us dined at Le Jardin. Owner/sommelier Lars Mooren and chef Tamara de Borst's presentation is truly impressive: seven delicious courses. The cuisine is top-notch, using primarily plant-based ingredients (meat and fish can be ordered as an ingredient). The waitstaff boasts excellent product knowledge, and Lars Mooren provided superb wine suggestions. It was a delightful experience. It ranks among the small, elite culinary establishments of Utrecht, which also includes restaurants like Maeve, Stadsjochies, Heron, Heimat, GYS, and Hemel en Aarde.

We ate here for two. It wasn't worth the money, the presentation was poor, and it lacked flavor. We were always behind on the wine, which is usually served beforehand, but we had to ask for a spoon with the soup. I don't understand the concept of having to pay extra for meat or fish, especially when it's just one package of smoked meat. Chips as a side dish? The cheeses were really good, though.

Fine establishment, nothing special otherwise. The waitress knew everyone's wishes and where we were seated, even after we had changed tables.

We chose the 6-course dinner but were already full - and somewhat 'over it' - after the 4th course. 3 courses (incl. dessert) were really nice, the others 'meh': good, but not excellent (no really distinctive flavors that made you say 'wow') and certainly not worth the hype or price.

Delicious lunch with a chef's surprise menu. Vegetarian/vegan, but you can expand it with fish or meat. We didn't find that necessary, and it was all very tasty. Lovely terrace, and the interior looks nice too. Highly recommended!

It was another wonderful dinner! It was so nice that we could also request a completely plant-based option. It's so wonderful to see that vegan and vegetarian food is becoming increasingly common, even in the more upscale segment. The food was delicious; all the combinations were perfect. The staff is excellent and definitely contributes to the wonderful experience. We will definitely be back!

Read the worst reviews for this restaurant and add them up: it's simply not worth your money. Our food wasn't fresh, meaning it all felt like a mass-produced item thrown together from a wholesaler. Half of the dishes had flavor, the other half simply didn't. The presentation was mediocre, and sometimes the execution in terms of mouthfeel was also poor. Cold bread with mayo was like bread for the table. A dessert that tasted like a freezer with frozen fruit. The "extra" meat, which is minimal in portion and flavor, and also comes pre-made from the kitchen. Champagne for 16 euros a glass, but not poured in a flute. You have to reuse your cutlery. The service was friendly but sometimes didn't know what was on the plate. The temperature in the restaurant was exceptionally warm, without proper ventilation. Honestly, there are so many other nice places in Utrecht where you can spend your money better! Vegetarian options too. I would skip this one if I were you—we certainly won't be back.

What a poor menu. It felt like we were served leftovers from the fridge. One piece of red pepper with sour cream and some leftover nachos — that’s supposed to be a dish? What?! Then two tiny potatoes from the oven with some sprinkles of fennel on top, and again, leftover potato chips. Bread with mayo as a starter 😀 Really, a very sad story. I don’t recommend it. Sorry. Beetroot dish was okay the rest... sad story

Great restaurant! The food was delicious. We heard they have a new menu every month. We went for the 5-course, fully plant-based meal. The service was also incredibly friendly; I would recommend everyone to eat here.

Yesterday I dined at Le Jardin, beautifully situated under the trees on Mariaplaats in Utrecht. The location is atmospheric and provides a lovely backdrop for a summer evening. The restaurant focuses on vegetable-based dishes with a creative approach, but unfortunately, the execution fell short of the beautiful concept. Many dishes felt like a collection of disparate ingredients on a single plate, lacking real cohesion or interaction. The presentation often looked a bit sloppy, and the finishing touches lacked finesse. Small details—like unroasted sesame seeds—gave the impression that a little too little attention had been paid to them. Yet, there were certainly some positive highlights. The classic dish with beetroot, trout, and horseradish was well-seasoned and beautifully balanced. The extra piece of lamb with the final dish was perfectly cooked and full of flavor. The "tuna-lookalike" dish with watermelon was also an original and pleasant surprise. All in all, a beautiful place, but it doesn't quite come together on the plate. More attention to presentation, finishing touches, and the logic within a dish could make Le Jardin a top-notch restaurant. Unfortunately, for now it remains an experience that is not quite convincing.

Upon arrival there was very restless music playing. Maybe nice for the staff as work vitamins, but completely unsuitable for dining. Too much beat and much too loud. Fortunately this got better before we started eating..

Se trata de un restaurante mayoritariamente vegetariano que trata de ser “High-End” con su “nouvelle cuisine”. Ha existido durante unos 10 años, por lo que debe atraer a una buena clientela. Sin embargo, los tres visitantes en Utrecht cenamos allí el 24 de junio de 2025 , y nos sorprendimos por los muchos platos vegetarianos bastante pequeños ... algunos son más bonitos de lo que eran satisfactorios para comer. La comida se sirve un plato tras otro (con mucho tiempo de espera en medio) y en lugar de elegir a la carta, seleccionas solo el tipo y cuántos platos deseas tener (y puedes añadir sobre la marcha). Pero cuidado con el precio! Este es un lugar caro para comer! Para nosotros tres, comimos a nuestra satisfacción (incluyendo cinco vasos de cerveza y vino) , y pagamos una factura de 240 . 00 Euro. Además, la dirección parece haber descuidado las instalaciones interiores del restaurante con baños mal mantenidos y un interior que necesita restauración.

The food was very mediocre especially based on these prices. Courses were way too small. Also its more Dutch than French.

We enjoyed ourselves here on a beautiful summer evening. The host was friendly, served with a smile and quickly. We never sat with an empty glass. We chose the 7-course surprise menu with a fish/meat supplement. We had read somewhere that you had to pay extra for this, but this was not indicated. In retrospect, we did not find it of much added value. The courses were served nicely and on time and were tasty. They were nice portions. Although we missed the taste explosion and a strong taste (bland) in a number of courses. Unfortunately, the chairs outside did not have a cushion, so this became a bit painful after a while.

A beautiful place on first impressions: cosy and welcoming with stylish decorations and lovely plants all over. We were seated at a table in the conservatory area towards the back and were looking forward to a treat of an evening. It was a little surprising to be asked for a drinks order without a menu, even when I'd asked for a drinks menu but we ordered blind without knowing the full range of drinks choices or indeed prices. The menu concept was explained and we all went for the 5 course tasting menu and we were asked if we had any dislikes or intolerances. The amuse bouche arrived first and it was a beautifully presented little morsel. The next course followed closely after: a carrot based dish. We were asked if we wanted more drinks but still not offered a wine list. The wine delivered was lovely however and explained to us. A further course followed based on peas. Very tasty, very pretty, small but perfectly formed! The main course option was based on aubergine which is not my favourite so I went with the broccoli alternative which was just that, pretty basic broccoli. The others enjoyed their aubergine but it wasn't anyone's favourite course. The finale was a strawberry based dish enhanced with wasabi, a strange combination that kind of worked. It's definitely a treat meal kind of price at the top price range and the appearance of the dishes definitely matched that. However, spending that kind of money I'd have hoped a d expected more from the finesse of the service and taste of the main dish which has been part of a fine dining establishment when we've visited this level of restaurant elsewhere. However, for an absolute treat of a vegetarian meal I'd definitely recommend you to visit to see what you think...

A nice restaurant where they use seasonal products. Mainly vegetables, but there is also the possibility to supplement with fish/meat. The service is nice and adequate. The location under the trees on a square makes for a nice summer evening with good food and drinks.

Le Jardin puts vegetables in the spotlight, which is daring and interesting. This results in a five-course surprise menu, the dishes themselves are quite okay, but the whole thing left us wanting more. Especially for the high price level, I expected at least a few crackling dishes and unfortunately they were missing. The service was friendly, but somewhat forgetful (in vain promises to clean up spilled water and a mint tea that has not arrived to date are a shame). The wine arrangement was okay, but just like the food, not surprising at all. Too bad they didn't just bring a carafe of tap water to the table, but refilled it glass by glass and the non-alcoholic drink options were meager. All in all a pleasant restaurant that could do better, my two previous visits left a much more positive impression in any case. If in doubt between 3 and 4 stars, the food is the deciding factor for 3. Le Jardin will get another chance in a while.

What a top place this is. Staff attentive and friendly! Wine list not overly large but nice selection! Food; amazing. Beautiful vegetarian combinations that sometimes make you think; why don't I do this at home. Ambiance completely nice: varied in style and warm.

Had a nice meal with family (4 people). Nice atmosphere with small 'cheeses' under the lights in the back of the restaurant. With friendly and attentive service. We had chosen 4 courses (without dessert). Extensive choices of different flavors in the base vegan where one person had meat. Apart from me as a vegan, the other family members (flexitarians) were also convinced by the kitchen.

Best vegetarian restaurant in Europe! Incredible flavors and texture combinations, everything is of the highest quality, with quality ingredients without going overboard. The service is equally friendly and helpful, helping you make your choices. Head there!

Staff is professional, good and friendly. Gluten free options are great and make you feel like you are not missing out or that it is an extra effort. (That bread?! - so good!) Food was good, no fish or meat which I like but sometimes lacked some body. Highly recommended!

Delicious and interesting dishes. Everything can be vegetarian if you like but they can also add meat or fish to some dishes. The flavours are great and you will not miss meat at all. The wine pairing was well done with a couple of interesting wines. The service was excellent.

Main course was two wedges of grilled pumpkin. You can decide for yourself how filling that is. I didn't always find the flavors special either. Dessert was very tasty and well done I thought the service was very nice, but also a bit clumsy. Always place meat near the vegas, dishes that fell over while being put down. Furthermore, a friendly welcome and service. For this price there are more special and tastier places.

From the amuse to the devine last course of cheese and sweet wine.. this is a place that is not like others. And that's a good thing. Lovely service and food that is delivered with thought and care. My favourite.. the potato.. no mushroom..no cheese.. damn so good. Visit .. its not your usual place but it is very much worth your time.

Service was good, but the food was a bit disappointing. It seemed like a cheaper copy of other restaurants that use the same concept. In the end it just didn't work but it mainly looked like vegetables with a sauce. Quite tasty, but the price/quality ratio is not right. The tables in the lunchroom were also not set up very well

Beautiful and cozy restaurant with nice plants splitting the room in half, making true to its name! The staff is friendly and can help with wine parring which works really well with the dishes. If you do not drink alchohol they have the most delicious moctail I ever had with ginger ale, white chocolate and star anise. You will be surprised by the creativity of the chefs menu with unique tasting combinations and sensations. We had not a single dish which we did not like of all 5 courses. We even learned some new combinations of ingredients! Would visit this place again!

What a culinary experience we had! We thoroughly enjoyed the food, the atmosphere, the wonderful and attentive service and our own company. Very surprising taste sensations and you won't miss meat or fish at all. of the 6 dishes, 5 were very surprising (only the carrot dish was less appreciated by us)

Le Jardin offers a delicious 4-9 course menu, but the dishes were not very surprising. Vegetables play the leading role, but the preparation remains somewhat on the surface. The wine choice makes up for a lot, but the food did not blow us away.

We visited the restaurant twice last year and were amazed by the creativity and taste of the food. Especially when you cook a lot and cook well yourself, you want something special when you go out to eat and that's exactly the case here. I'm only writing this review now because I saw that someone had negative comments about the meat or fish allowance offered. The side dish really wasn't anything special, but that's not why you go to a vegetarian restaurant. On the second visit I left it out and then everything was perfect.

I think this was the 6th or 7th time I've eaten here. Food was delicious, as always. I just think the “double occupancy” concept they have introduced is really impoverishing. It now just seems like a commercial tent, where not the guest experience but making money is the starting point. It is also annoying if you are on time for the second round and your table is not yet available, and you then have to look away from people who also pay €80-90 per person. Stop this le jardin, otherwise you will lose a regular customer.

We were a group of three in Le Jardin on the day the autumn season started. The atmosphere was wonderfully casual and yet you did not have the feeling that you were in a simple brasserie. The staff was not always in the foreground, but service-oriented and very knowledgeable. They were also able to provide good advice on suitable wines and always indicated what the options were with regard to, for example, the number of courses (which could be expanded continuously). The food was PHENOMENAL!!! There must be an artist in the kitchen, because these tasteful works of art would not look out of place in an appetizing exhibition. The ingredients used are local and organic and the dishes are almost exclusively vegetable based. As a meat and fish lover, I got a 'touch' of both during two courses (1st dish had some crayfish and another dish had a small piece of delicious, tender duck breast), but I didn't miss anything else! In fact, I would have also liked the vegetarian version of both dishes. There were also vegetables that I prefer to ignore in everyday life, but which were prepared here so fantastically that it seemed as if each and every one of them was a favorite dessert. In short, we were completely overwhelmed by this evening and enjoyed the nine courses. Recommended!

The food is special. Default is without meat, which I think is a good idea and also opted for it. But the dishes were not quite to my taste.

The restaurant had a cozy, elegant, and modern vibe. Instead of a menu, you choose 4 to 9 courses, and the chef picks the dishes, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. The quality and the flavors were good, but the dishes felt a bit too basic. They were beautifully presented as gourmet, but the taste didn't match the expectations.

Beautiful romantic location with beautiful terrace. Terrace is in 2 parts with a road in between where cars and trucks drive 1 meter from your table, but fortunately there are not many. On the terrace there are benches and 2 types of chairs, the black ones are OK, but the blue ones with the bars are terrible, painful for the buttocks and the backrest is also too low. Moreover, they are really not nice to look at. There is no menu, you can only choose the number of courses. So just a surprise menu. Vegan oriented but if you wish there is also fish and meat. The wine list is sufficient and the host has sufficient wine knowledge. The dishes are beautifully presented and taste good and the portions are not too large. The store is also beautiful to look at inside, with lots of plants and a green atmosphere.

Very strange experience here. At 1 p.m., on an almost empty terrace, we asked if we could eat. No, there was actually no room for us...... bizarre.

We give it a 7. + nice place, nice concept that all dishes are prepared with vegetables, nicely laid out plates. - not many special flavors (Thai curry mayo was a nice one), the pace of the service was too high and it was mandatory to remove and put down the plates, quite little food per course and no side dishes, which may have increased the number, chairs were not seated tasty (outside); a pillow in the back would be good.

Le Jardin is a very nice place to eat. The food is of high quality, the wines served are carefully considered and the service is very adequate. Even though the food is very varied and tasty, I had eaten enough before I was no longer hungry. With a maximum of 9 courses, I had given up on course 4 and course 5 was because I was still hungry. Gastronomically, Le Jardin is a tour de force and I would definitely recommend the experience. I'll just keep it this one time.

A few weeks ago me and my boyfriend had dinner here. Since it is a quite pricey restaurant (it cost 200 euros for 2), I thought it was a shame that the waiter poured beer into our wine glasses, as I really got the feeling that he was not taking us seriously (we are both 18, so that's why). The rest of the dishes were fine, just not for that price range. And if you added meat, it wasn't great either. I just thought it was a shame that we were treated this way by that waiter. The waiter was a bit on the younger side (male).

We’ve been here for lunch and dinner, both were great. I recommend to order ~6 rounds. Good food, attractive restaurant and top service!

The food is original and very tasty. It's nice that everything is basically vegetarian and meat and fish are an option. It looks nice and attentive and nice service. However, if I order a 4-course menu, I don't expect to leave the restaurant with a (still quite) appetite. For me personally the portions are way too small. I personally wouldn't call 2 pieces of falafel with a few strings of vegetables a main course.

Very nice culinary discovery in Utrecht. Service is smooth and pleasant. You can choose from different menus with a number of courses. It is a vegetarian cuisine, but exceptions (fish and meat) are possible. We were surprised and that was very pleasant. In short, well presented in an attractive, modern setting.

It was fine, but 4 courses was not really enough for fairly small eaters. Starter was really great and the dishes afterwards were also fine, but we still missed something. (Not necessarily meat - we eat vegetarian more often, but something to balance it out). Still had a nice evening, great service and nice location.

There is no map. You choose 3-9 courses. It is immediately stated that it is mainly a vegetable restaurant. Of course we already knew that. A piece of fish with the main course turned out to be possible, but we declined. The slant is 'French', so a glass of port beforehand was not possible. The corridors came too quickly for me; made a comment about that. Delicious food, but don't ask me what. Just like with appetizers: there is a lot included in every dish. The waiter indicated that 10 menus are created per year, so you won't eat the same food here as we do. A bottle of Sancerre for 65 Euro will help with the bill. Operation smooth and attentive. Ambiance OK, but a bit noisy. Final verdict: yes, I can recommend Le Jardin and will definitely come back
