Food was fine , chefs choice steak was really juicy . On the other hand ribeye was a little dry but the atmosphere and the nice service from our waiter Giannis balanced everything. Thank you Giannis for the nice time here 🙏

Restaurant setting is nice however the steak is really bad. Steak has a bad aftertaste and they try to cover it up by adding garlic and diced vegetables on top of the steak. Waiter blamed the bad aftertaste of the steak on us ordering well done and the cooking style in the oven. Service is also very slow even with the restaurant being empty. Fries are good as well as the shrimp. Would not visit again and would not recommend.

My brother and I spent our last night in Amsterdam here largely because of the good reviews I was seeing on Google. I have to say we feel supremely misled. Our waiter was all over the place with not knowing fully what was on the menu and trying to correct my brother with his order while condescendingly telling him what’s on there is what they have. The starters arrived quickly and were probably the best part of the evening (burrata and tuna tartare). However a full 30-40 minutes went by before our waiter finally appeared and asked if we wanted our mains. Never have I ever been asked by the waiter if we wanted to have the food we ordered and were actively waiting for. At last the food comes and the steak is overcooked and my brothers salad was entirely without dressing. After getting through the mains (and after my brother discovered the dressing at the bottom of the plate) we asked the waiter for the check. Another 15 minutes by without seeing him and we decided to ask a different waiter for the check. Some more waiting again so we opted to go for three and asked yet another waiter for the check. More waiting again until I decided to go to the front of the restaurant to find the check. Finally, after a bizarre half assed apology from our waiter we pay for our food (150 in total for the food and drinks) and leave the restaurant. Honestly feeling misled is generous for that experience. P.s The woman who was the hostess and one other waiter, who was very kind, was holding the fort down.

We had a good meal here. The steak was cooked perfectly as requested. The chef’s pate was great, although the pate to bread ratio is off (too little bread to pair with the pate amount). We didn’t have to wait long for the food. The service was decent. One draw back was that when we sat down, there was used napkin trashed under the table that was quite easy to see. The staff should be more attentive to such issue.

The food was good, but the service was very, very bad! It took them over an hour to bring our food, the staff seemed clueless, and the tables around us were complaining about the same thing. I don't recommend this place.

Excellent fries and a very pleasant atmosphere. The meat was juicy, cooked to the right point, and the sauce had a very interesting flavor. I only missed having some kind of side dish with the meat. We asked for the sauce on the side, but it came on the meat. After we pointed it out, they quickly replaced it, although it seemed they had simply wiped the sauce off

We had a delicious meal. It's a shame that no vegetables came with the meat, but the meat was top-notch! Very tender and well-seasoned.

Our family of 4 had a great time here. Friendly, great food. We made a reservation over the website which was convenient too. The staff admit that they are less set up for summer with limited outside seating; they have more demand in the darker / wetter months when people want to be indoors. Still, I'm going back, summer or winter.

We came here with the AMEX menu. They provide a very nice and generous menu. Every plate is delicious and with a decent amount. The steak is very tender and the gambas are flavorful. Really exceeds expectations. Recommended!

Had a delicious meal, friendly people, and a neat interior. Service could have been a bit quicker, but the place was full. Reserved via The Fork and received a 50% discount on the bill. The only downside of the evening was the noisy people in the corner.

This was the last time we went here. We've been coming here for years, been promoting it to everyone that wanted a place to eat in Amsterdam. But no longer. Has management changed? Where are the wooden slabs you used to serve the steak on? Now on the big plates a 250 gr tournedos steak looks like a very small piece of meat, and then mine was almost cold. There is no presentation, you could at least try to make it look nice. The prices have skyrocketed since half a year ago. 43 euros for a 250gr steak is ridiculous! The service was slow. We will not be coming back.

Really disappointed with this one. We had a reservation at 20:00, and were seated promptly. However, the service was atrocious and the food was mediocre. We did not see our server after we placed our food order, and the man who delivered our food told us (at time of delivery) that they were out of one of the sides we ordered. He did not offer an alternative. My partner’s steak, ordered medium-rare, was served medium-well (barely any pink) and my burger was very well done, although I was not offered a choice on the cook. We both should have received fries as the main side to our meal, but were only given one serving and told we could simply ask for more. But there was no opportunity to ask for more because, as previously mentioned, we did not see our server after we placed our food order. We only saw him again when we flagged him down to pay. Perhaps a fine spot to stop for a drink, but I would not recommend a meal here.

Service was absolutely lovely. They took us as a walk-in and took our order as soon as we were ready. The restaurant was at around 30% capacity, mind you. Yet we waited 60+ minutes for our food which, when it came, was cold. Not Luke warm, but cold. Medium steaks, and pork. Not wanting to wait longer as we were hungry and had been sitting there 2 hours we didn't send it back. Salad was good but not great. Very simple ingredients, guacamole from a bottle and simple lettuce. Host said he was going to see what he could do. Service was great but food not. I work in restaurants as well which is why I know orders are not easily forgotten and which made me sure it was coming. I was confused why the food was cold if we had to wait so long. Do not recommend.

Great service and very good food. Seating arrangement was bad as they pack you like sardines in a HK 茶餐厅. The staff were really friendly and did manage to squeeze us in without a reservation! Atmosphere was really nice. However, food was very expensive for what we were given. Vegetable curry felt like it was lacking vegetables! Very small portion and left feeling hungry! Again left feeling hungry after the chicken! I understand you get bottomless chips with the meal however these were very greasy so couldn’t eat more than ‘a portion’ to fill up. I also think €8 for a bottle of water is a bit steep. Could be me being naive but I expected a jug of tap water for the table not a bottle of water that cost €8. Something I wish I’d known upfront as I wouldn’t have ordered it. Apart from the chips being greasier than my preference and the curry lacking vegetables, the taste of the rest of the food was really nice. I did see two tubs of what looked like pre-cooked pasta dishes just sat in open topped metal containers when I went to the toilet which did negatively impact the professional look of the restaurant- especially if it was food that was going to be served. Overall an okay experience but can’t say I would return on my next visit to Amsterdam.

The food was delicious, but the portion size was too small for the price, and the fries arrived cold. We also had to wait quite a long time to get the attention of the waiters. The restaurant seemed clearly understaffed and unable to handle the number of clients properly.

A pretty good restaurant. Great selection of steaks, but the prices are "Amsterdam-like!" On the downside, there's limited outdoor seating and the bathroom is accessed through the kitchen. It's odd to me, but it's the only way to do it. There's plenty of space inside, cozy, but a bit dark. My eyesight made it hard to read the menu, and the table lamp didn't help, only the light from the window. The service was good, as was the quality of the food. We got a steak for my daughter and a salad, and the portions were quite large! Everything was delicious. The beer selection...it's an acquired taste, but you can find something.

I was so looking forward to it, pay for a great experience, good food, so disappointed, never again here. Regrets. Steak took three times to get right, after 2nd time the offered a 20% discount, weird and they didn’t really some bothered that one of was able to eat and other person had too wait so long for them to get it right. This steakhouse had good reviews so I thought I would give it a try. With so many amazing restaurants in Amsterdam, this place can be skipped. The food was just average and the service was disappointing. I asked for a Hugo Spritz and I was told no pick something else. So I order a Coke and the waitress brought a Coke Zero. My spouse steak was not cooked properly and that can happen. But the waitress was argumentative. They did not bring his fries that came with all steak orders. When we asked for them. No apology. When the steak was replaced waitresses did not come back to ensure it was okay. Also they did not clear plates, empty coke bottles, or water bottle. I would not recommend.

Overpriced. Too loud to have any sort of conversation. Overbooked. Small portions. Inattentive service. Restaurant was also untidy. Avoid.

Excellent service, atmosphere, and food.

The first time we came here, we had an incredibly delicious meal. It's a shame the toilet was broken back then, but that can happen. Last week, we wanted to go here for lunch again. We made a reservation in advance and walked through the city to Black and Blue… for nothing. When we arrived, we were told that the kitchen was closed and we could only get drinks. A waste of time and effort, and a shame that this wasn't communicated beforehand. When you make a reservation, you expect to be able to get a table. The communication here could be so much better.

The rump steak was truly exceptional, though the service left something to be desired. It appeared there were only four waiters for approximately 100 seats, and they seemed to struggle with remembering and delivering drinks promptly. Despite that, the food was genuinely delightful, and the oysters were particularly excellent. I would certainly recommend this establishment for a work dinner or for a couple. However, I believe it would be more beneficial to make a reservation in advance rather than simply walking in.

The service was not at all in line with the price. It took them 1 hour and 15 minutes to serve us, we complained, and the waiter responded rudely.

Excellent location near the museums, away from the chaos of the city center. A Nespresso machine is available in the room. There are also nice places nearby for breakfast if you don't want to use the hotel's. The tram stop to the city center is a 10-minute walk away.

Yesterday we dined at Black and Blue. Unfortunately, the evening did not get off to a pleasant start due to the reception. We were served by Katrien, but this felt anything but hospitable. Despite having informed them in advance that we would be a little late due to an accident on the highway, we were received quite curtly and uninterestedly. When we asked where we could sit, we got the impression that we were mainly just being told to wait without any further explanation, which did not create a pleasant first impression. Fortunately, the food was good and tasty. However, we did have to wait quite a long time before it was served. Additionally, we noticed that the menu felt sticky and that the overall hygiene could be better. All in all, a mixed experience: tasty food, but the service and cleanliness leave room for improvement.

It was a special occassion for us so we booked online to secure a table. We booked Black & Blue after reading online reviews and based on a recommendation. We were not disappointed. The service was excellent, the food lovely. We ordered too much food as we thought the starters would be a smaller portion! The steak salad was absolutely yummy. If you in the area, ( central location, easy to find) highly recommend a visit here!

Nice restaurant but not for large group. We had eight people and the after dinner the waitress (who originally said she would do it) said she couldn’t split the bill up, making it very difficult to pay in a different country. Other than that, the evening would have been great. Management was non-existent that evening. Too bad. Ask questions and I hope you have a better experience than our group did.

Charming restaurant with high-quality meat prepared on the Josper. I opted for the surf and turf. The flat iron steak was good, but the lobster lacked flavor and was unfortunately a bit disappointing.
