I was excited to take my Lao wife to try this restaurant after reading that your chef had Lao origins. She was really looking forward to tasting authentic Lao dishes. Unfortunately, we were both very disappointed. According to her, there's no way the chef is Lao or familiar with authentic Lao cuisine. Even as Thai food, it was just average. It's a shame, but at least we gave it a try. Don't go there if you want to try real Lao food.

The owner doesn't seem to handle criticism well. He reacts aggressively to any comments about the food or service. The prices are high, the food is nothing special, and to top it all off, you're treated rudely. Definitely check out his responses to negative reviews—that way you'll know exactly what to expect before you dine here.

We went to Boi Boi our first night in Amsterdam. The Home Made Panang Curry was amazing! The restaurant is very nice both inside and outside. Fresh ingredients and good quality flavor.

One of the lesser Thai restaurants in Amsterdam, and an exorbitantly expensive one at that. €24 for a curry and €23 for Phad Thai. You'd expect it to be absolutely delicious. The curry was bland, and I searched for a piece of chicken. Same story with the Phad Thai. Lots of filling, hardly any meat. We won't be seeing them again.

The food was fantastic! The cashew chicken and panang curry were our favorites, but I have to say, we enjoyed everything. Good portions for a reasonable price.

The Pad Thai (vegetarian) was delicious and a big plate full! We sat outside, nice and spontaneous chat with the owner and other guests. The sticky rice mango for dessert was delicious.

One of the hidden gems here in the East of amsterdam: This place services fantastic Thai and Laotian dishes, made by local people. Service is super friendly and cosy atmosphere. Definitely recommend coming here.

Unfortunately, I got very sick after I picked up something, namely Tom Kai and homemade Panaeng (green) curry. I found the soup disappointing and the curry okay. Immediately after eating this I became ill and had major stomach problems. I would like to say that I eat Thai at least 4 times a month, so I am used to it. Nothing special and I think 37 euros for 1 person (13 euros soup) and 24 euros (green curry chicken) is a lot.

Er is veel sfeer, authenticiteit en het eten en de wijnen waren gewoonweg verukkelijk. Een extra compliment ook voor de buitengewoon vriendelijke en galante bediening.

I used to eat here a few years ago and they had the best green curry that I have ever had. Two weeks ago we decided to order takeout from here. We noticed it has gotten very expensive, a vegetarian green curry costs 21 euros wich is rediculous but I remembered that it was so good so I decided it was worth it. What we got was absolutely disgusting. The curry used to be very spicy but this curry had absolutely no spice. It was watery and looked like a pale green soup. It had no flavour and it was only very salty. The rice was old and very dry. I decided to call the restaurant to resolve the issue, they told me to mail them which I did. I did not recieve an answer for two weeks after which I contacted them again. The mail was very rude, which is in line with the reactions of the owner on negative reviews. Even after I send them a picture of the watery mess they gave me they argued that it was a matter of taste and that I should eat somewhere else. I don't understand why they even told me to mail them when they were not prepared to help in any way. I have never had a worse dining experience. This restaurant has changed a lot and their food quality has suffered. Don't eat here please. If you could only taste what you served us you would be ashamed

Food was so tasty , great funky little place with a cool hippie vibe , complete with a randomly sweet grey tabby that popped in for her nightly treat. Richard was so friendly we forgot he was serving and left feeling like we’d made a friend , even if he did misinform us about the toilet situation 😊

Food is delicious, good portions and reasonable prices but be aware of the service as it is very slow so you better come ready to wait 1+ hours to get your Pad Thai. Watch out about the “surprise beer” as you might get a normal Heineken and there’s a chance that there are no Thai beers available

What a great dining experience we had at Boi Boi in de Dapperbuurt in Amsterdam-Oost. Must visit! In the Netherlands it’s not easy to find good Thai restaurants, and even though this is labeled as a Laos/Thai restaurant, their Thai dishes are amazing. Don’t wait! We always like to start off with a cold brewski and off course they had 2 cold Singha’s for us. Make reservations now! We started with some fresh Thai spring rolls and they were truly fresh, handmade and delicious. Must try! Then my wife had the Pad Krapao and she ate everything, and I had the Chicken Paneng Curry. I am always afraid that they don’t make it spicy enough, but the level of spiciness was just right for me. The chef is from Laos and everything is freshly made. Go there! We didn’t have any dessert, we’ll do that next time we visit. The neighborhood is fun and the ambiance of Boi Boi is relaxed and fun. Bring a friend! The owner Richard provides a very welcoming atmosphere with his smile and genuine care. Richard also shares some home made whiskey with special Thai herbs, wonderful! I always hope that restaurants like this do well! Google, as an exception, may I please give this establishment six stars? ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️ ⭐️

Good vegan options, nice place and friendly staff

Atmosphere was really cozy and lovely (although is a very small place), the waiter was extremely adorable and funny and the food was really tasty. Feels like being in Thailand. I absolutely recommend this place. Also, I'm disabled at the moment and this place is perfect cause is located in a ground floor

Boi Boi has been on my list for a long time. Finally stopped by yesterday for take-away. Really delicious! I thought the flavors were very unique, special and unknown. I also thought the prices were very reasonable. We will be back very soon!

Both owners have a very nasty attitude and derogatory attitude towards staff and meal deliverers. Sometimes they also lash out at customers. I'm afraid it's gotten to their heads. They are really not pleasant when they are stressed. The food is way too expensive and not worth it. Few to no ingredients in the curry or pad thai. They are overcooked slab of porridge noodles and mixed soups from the wholesaler with a sour taste. I recommend Thaicoon in Amsterdam East or The Red Elephan in Osdorp for original, tasty Thai for a NORMAL price.

What delicious dishes. Loving & extremely hospitable atmosphere. The service yesterday was fantastic. Skilled & honest. If this was the standard in Amsterdam, eating out would always be a treat. In short, 5 stars? We would have preferred to give 10. Thanks for the nice evening yesterday! We will definitely come back, because we have not tasted the entire menu yet.

My friends and I found this place coincidentally after our yoga class so we gave it a try. The dish we ordered came out just OK so we asked additional chilies and fish sauce to spice it up and then the history starts! The chef (Mr.Kay/Candy) came out to served us so we had a bit of conversations. He mentioned that he will cook it again as the authentic taste but we refused and wanted to try next time. Later he served us another dish as a compliment and it tastes like home. We really appreciate his kindness. So, we would like to give it a try again. After a few weeks, my friends and I revisited the restaurant again and we ordered the food a week in advance! Some of them are not even in the menu but they were very kind to prepare them all for us. The food was so so good, very spicy and tasteful. All my Thai friends and I feel like we are having Isan food in Thailand. The staffs welcomed us very warmly. The dessert is so good especially the mochi ice cream! The chef let us try his Sa-to which is a rice wine that popular in Laos and NE region of Thailand. Oh also, the rice whiskey with some herbs. Even serve us the tea from Laos before we leave. Their services is beyond our expectations. We are really happy and enjoy our time there. We will definitely visit here again and try more dish. If you really want the authentic taste, just mention it when you order but make sure you can handle the Asian spice level.

The new Boi Boi Laos is an addition to the range of international cuisines in Amsterdam. The chef de cuisine, who previously served Thai dishes, has revisited his Laotian roots and radically revised his recipes. The result is both adventurous and refined. The flavors and aromas convince through the use of fresh herbs, homemade sauces, finely chopped ingredients and careful preparation that honors grandmother's way from the countryside in Laos. The ambiance still exudes a genuine Asian eatery with a nod to the tough side of street life. The versatile Laos comes to life in a surprising way at the table.

We went a bit ago now and we did not book. We were not impressed by the quality nor the quantity given how expensive the bill was. The quality of the service is also pretty perfectly summed up by the response to this.

Delicious comforting food. A small cozy low-lighted place to which I will definitely be coming back again. The curry was amazing and in a beautiful meeting point between the coconut, the sweetness and the salty taste of it. The Tom-Yum soup was also amazing, warm and full of veggies. The mango sticky rice was also beautiful, they told us the rice had actually genuine brown sugar (which is healthier than white granulated one), definitely a plus. They were very kind to us, very attentive checking if we needed more rice for example. Sadly I didn't take any pictures of anything, however it's 100% in my recommendations.

my first time, happened to pass by and ordered green curry veggie from takeaway menu. They have another curry but wanted to also make green curry at my request. Really super tasty, spicy and full flavor. I will definitely go again, great service and an authentic, cozy vibe in this small restaurant

Very warm welcome and service at Boi Boi with absolutely delicious food !

I walked in with a friend to have dinner. We would both have a starter and a main course. When asked what we wanted to drink, I said that I would like a glass of water. That wasn't possible, that was only possible if I also ordered a beer or a coke. When I later discussed it privately with my table companion, he came back with 'you'll get your water' and a kind of gesture that I shouldn't complain. Sorry; I think that goes too far, it involves a glass of water. We were going to eat there for around €50, and there is no problem getting a glass of water? I usually drink tap water with my food. But here it was against company guidelines, it said. We decided to leave, this doesn't have much to do with hospitality. I don't want to be here. When I walked out, my table companion was informed that I was not doing well and that I needed to be looked after. I just asked for a glass of water, I really don't understand the problem. An attempt was also made to pay for the ordered food, which had not yet been brought to our table. We didn't eat any of it, so we didn't want to pay for it. I will never, ever come here again. I imagine it's better everywhere than yours. Afterwards we went to eat across the street, where the glass of water was part of the standard welcome. This is very unfortunate. I don't think I'll be going here again.

Wir waren hier heute zu viert essen, es war super! Das Essen von jedem von uns war schön hergerichtet und wirklich sehr sehr lecker. Der Service war zuvorkommend und super freundlich. Man merkt hier die Qualität einer kleinen Küche! Auch viele Veggi-Alternativen und eine schöne Auswahl an Gerichten. Restaurant Preise sind für deutsche Verhältnisse etwas teurer in Amsterdam, hier aber absolut gerechtfertigt. Werden bei einem weiteren Besuch in Amsterdam wieder kommen und empfehlen es weiter!

The food is amazing. Only little variety, but because everything is so delicious, it just makes the choice easier. If you do not like spicy food: make sure to ask beforehand. Reply: Maybe just add the option "non-spicy". I would not add any extra recipes to the menue.

We hadden heerlijk gegeten. De vegan monkey balls is zeker een aanrader. Het bedienings personeel was zeer vriendelijk. Hij had mij aangeboden om eerst twee wijnen te proeven voordat ik een definitieve keuze had gemaakt. De ingrediënten van mijn gerechten waren vers. Mijn hoofdgerecht was een beetje lauw het mocht wel een beetje warmer. De sfeer was goed.

We tried the veggie red curry, the shrimp pad Thai noodles and monkey balls. Everything was very flavourful without being too spicy. I loved it. They say their Pad Thai is the best in Amsterdam and I can tell you that it's definitely gooodddd. I haven't tried each and every pad Thai in Amsterdam so can't say but it's a good contender They make everything in house! Their dips, sauces, appetisers everything was made in house and we could taste the difference from the store bought or frozen versions. Really good

Lekker Thais in de Dapperstraat. Op een warme dag plaatsgenomen op de picknick tafels buiten in de schaduw. Hier lekker gegeten , terwijl om ons heen de resten van de markt werden opgeruimd.

Arrived within an hour of closing time and was afraid that they wouldn't serve us. The complete opposite happened! We sat outside on a great summer evening, ordered 2 dishes and they proactively brought extra dishes to share. Food was great, the staff cool as we ended up having Mekhong together. It is not common to get this good service in Amsterdam, cheers guys!

Wow. Just wow. Best green curry I've ever had (eaten at many restaurants in multiple countries). Definitely not for those who have trouble with the heat. But the pad Thai was less fiery but also delicious. Cool and casual vibe inside. Staff was very friendly and patient with tourists like us. Highly recommend.

I have been to this place once about 5 years ago and since then I always remembered that they have the best pad Thai! This time again it didn’t let me down! Pad Thai was the best, I also loved the cashew nut dish, very tasty! They have a big outdoor sitting area.

Usually when a food place writes on their food: "The best in..." you roll your eyes with disbelief and don't expect it to be actually true, but this time when the menu said: "The best Pad Thai in Amsterdam" it REALLY was the best Pad Thai we had so far, and we tried many many Pad Thai's in Amsterdam TBH. In addition, the service was lovely, a very pleasant owner and a nice vibe in general. We highly recommend this place.

auf ihrer karte steht: bestes pad thai in amsterdam. ich habe die anderen thais nicht besucht, aber schon oft nudeln pad thai gegessen und ich muss sagen, sehr gut. auch ansonsten die currys und vorspeisen sehr gut zu einem reelen preis. auch das gute weinangebot muss ich erwähnen. das restaurant liegt ja etwas ausserhalb des zentrums, die gäste des hotels inntel landmark sollten sich freuen, 10 minuten fussmarsch lohnen sich.

Heerlijk gegeten en naast dat het lekker was is de informatie over het eten ook goed. De eieren zijn van de Veluwe van kippen, er is speciale rijst en de biologische wijn was een prima prijs-kwaliteit wijntje. Wij gaan zeker vaker!

Ik was met een vriend naar binnen gelopen om er te gaan eten. We zouden beide een voor en hoofdgerecht nemen. Bij de vraag wat we wilden drinken zei ik dat ik graag een glaasje water erbij wilde hebben. Dat kon niet, dat kon alleen als ik ook een biertje of een cola'tje erbij zou bestellen. Toen ik het er later met mijn tafelgenoot het er privé over had, kwam hij erop terug met 'je krijgt je water wel hoor' en een soort gebaar dat ik niet moest zeiken. Sorry; dat pik ik allemaal niet, het gaat om een glaasje water. We zouden er voor rond de €50 gaan eten, en er wordt moeilijk gedaan om een glaasje water?!?!? Ik drink altijd kraanwater bij m'n eten. Maar hier was het tegen de richtlijnen van het bedrijf in, werd er gezegd. We besloten weg te gaan, dit heeft NIETS met gastvrijheid te maken. Hier wil ik niet zijn. Toen ik naar buiten liep werd mijn tafelgenoot medegedeeld dat het niet zo goed met mij ging en dat er maar op mij gelet moest worden. HET GAAT OM EEN GLAASJE WATER, wat-is-het-probleem. Ook werd er nog geprobeerd om het bestelde eten, wat nog niet aan tafel gebracht was, bij ons af te rekenen. PARDON?! We hebben er niks van gegeten, en wilde er ook niks van eten. Hier zal ik nooit en nooit meer komen. Bij de voordeur waren 5 mensen aan het twijfelen of ze naar binnen wilden gaan. Ik heb ze netjes ergens anders gestuurd. Ik stel me voor dat het overal beter is dan bij jullie. Vervolgens zijn we aan de overkant gaan eten, heer-lijk. Fijne bediening daar ook ;-) Ik zal zorgen dat niemand uit mijn vriendenkring ooit nog bij jullie gaat komen. Had ik al verteld dat het om een glaasje water ging?!?!? Sjongejonge. Heel triest dit. Van mijn part gaan jullie het niet redden zo. Oja, aan de overkant stond er gewoon standaard een glaasje water op tafel, zonder vragen. Fijn lekker en gastvrij.

Ontzettend lekker gegeten. Alles is vers en dat proef je ook. Service is ook uitstekend, de eigenaar en bediening zeer vriendelijk en erg gastvrij!! Een absolute aanrader!
