Very cozy, traditional restaurant. The food is delicious (and very cheap) and the staff is very friendly. Will definitely go there again soon!

I ate here with my wife a week ago. The soup (solyanka) is truly excellent. 👌👌More people should definitely come here to taste authentic Ukrainian cuisine!

The food is excellent. Delicious kompot (fruit drink). The place is nicely decorated. Definitely worth a visit if you live near a train station between Castricum and Schagen. It's just a short walk from Alkmaar station. There's also a small room at the back for larger groups.

I ordered here just because i was hungry and i didnt want to have a pizza, or the next dunner. Did i get a supprice!!. The food is verry delict seasoned, and well ballenced. It is just not take away food, like im used to get when i ordered a delivery meal. It is that good that i ( as a home cook) will certainly see into the Ukrainian recepys!

You know when you walk into a place and you just get the feeling it’s going to be excellent? Borscht did not disappoint. Every single thing we ordered was excellent, there truly is love in their food. It took me the countryside in Ukraine, where I didn’t grow up, and yet felt immediately at home. The (I assume?) owner was very friendly and helped me kindly with my order. The atmosphere was cozy, inviting and relaxing. Can’t believe it took me as long as it did to discover the place, but we aim to make up for lost time now! Thanks for the wonderful meal, we’ll see you again!

The boscht soup with meat was very tasty. The Olivier salad was also delicious. Wine fine, took a while before we could order a new glass, next time I'll order a whole bottle haha ​​When we were here on Friday evening, we were the only guests. That's a shame because the food was really good and not expensive at all!! Dessert with cherries and dessert with cheese cake also went down well. For less than €25 pp actually really ridiculously cheap for such quality. I really hope this restaurant becomes popular because with this quality of food it would be deserved! Very close to Alkmaar station. Next time I want to try Kip Kiev!

We had a great time ...our first meal after we left India was Beef soup and pork+ cheese cutlets...It was really cosy and beautiful inside and the service was absolutely brilliant. We are staying just opposite the place and will definitely come back for the Borsch. Love to Ukraine.

I went here once and I lived fairly surprised. Everything is prices fairly. Not expensive. The food was delicious. The atmosphere was interesting. The lady was very friendly. Some vegetarian options. Not too many, but enough.

A very cozy and soulful cafe with a real Ukrainian atmosphere! Borscht is simply a fairy tale: rich, aromatic, like grandma’s in childhood. Everything was fresh and prepared with love. The staff is friendly and attentive, you immediately feel a warm attitude towards the guests. The interior is also pleasing to the eye - traditional Ukrainian motifs create a special mood. I will definitely come back again and recommend it to everyone!

A really cozy warm place with delicious food! Every dish was perfect. The personnel were really nice and the food was served quickly.

Great to try something completely different and what a wonderful experience it was! The chicken Kiev was tender and full of flavour, the stew was delicious and enough to feed a whole family. There's a warm and homely atmosphere here unlike anywhere else in Alkmaar. Whatever you do, though, do NOT leave without a shot of Ukrainian honey pepper vodka. Highly recommended.

Alkmaar has a fantastic addition with this Ukrainian restaurant. The borscht and soljanka are both delicious; you can taste the authenticity and love with which these dishes are prepared. The flavors are rich and full, just as they should be. Definitely recommended for those who want to enjoy Ukrainian cuisine!

Also nice to see that each country has its own style of ambiance, Ukrainian music in the background, polite young woman serving the food. For a while now I have been working with two Ukrainian guests who recommended this restaurant to me because it tastes like “coming home”. The restaurant is simple and somewhat kitschy. Ukrainian music plays in the background. This together gives the idea of ​​an American “diner”. This does have its charm, but this is not the right location for an evening of pleasant dining. It might be an idea to dim the lights a bit. The fluorescent lamps provide little atmosphere to the whole. The prices are very reasonable and the quality of the food makes this an excellent ratio. We recommend their homemade orange lemonade and the bograch soup. A soup filled with potato, beef and bell pepper. Extremely tasty and perfect for the coming autumn days. The Vareniki are also delicious, I had the chicken variant. There are several types (potato, beef and cherry). I would have liked to be able to vary the 12 pieces that you purchase. Now after a few Varenikis it became a bit monotonous... The waitress was friendly but at the same time a bit distant and could have been a bit friendlier to deal with. This doesn't matter as the food here is delicious. Very nice that Borscht has been able to find its place in Alkmaar and I wish you the best of luck this coming winter. For Spaniards. It's worth every last euro. Great food, good atmosphere and good place. I recommend the Stoofpot and Syrniki for dessert. Great. I almost tried the entire menu already, I wish I had discovered Ukrainian gastronomy sooner. Very friendly and hardworking.

I must admit I normally go for quantity/price and these are very calculated rations. But, gosh, the flavors, It tasted everything so good! For someone who comes from Spain, I am really enjoying the ukranian gastronomy so far. Shout out specially to the Verenikis, the texture and flavor so on point. The soups are perfect, specially if you feel sick, and Kiev Chicken was a great surprise for me. You can see how clean IS the kitchen and how much effort takes the chef on every dish, also the woman attending was so gentle. As someone who normally isn't happy enough with a bunch of the restaurants (service and/or food) I tried in NL so far, this id a MUST if you visit Alkmaar ;P. They also have nice desserts... I'll be back soon 😎

Borsht is a great place in Alkmaar for tasty Ukrainian food. My favorite dishes are zrazi, salo, and mlyntsi. The food is full of flavor, and it feels like home-cooked meals. This is the best Ukrainian restaurant in the Netherlands. The food is so tasty and authentic! The people are really nice. I highly recommend visiting this place even if you'd have to go all the way to Alkmaar.

I was 70 km away and thought about it and decided to go try it. I didn't regret it. Solyanochka is super. The atmosphere is OURS. I would also like liqueurs with homemade kvass. I miss normal food I RECOMMEND it to everyone.

Just had dinner here and it certainly won't be the last time. The food, especially the Borscht soup for me, is really delicious. We were served by a friendly English-speaking lady who did her best to make us happy. I will definitely recommend this restaurant.

Seems more like a takeaway than a restaurant. You sit back to back with a table behind you. You can't slide backwards. Mediocre explanation, almost no choice in social deal. Lukewarm white wine and lukewarm beer. It's a shame, unfortunately they won't see us anymore.

If you just want to eat a tasty, loving snack, home cooked and without any fuss, then this is the place for you. The decor may not be very cozy, but the food is tasty and fresh, the service is friendly and that's what matters.

Nice little place, serving some famous highlights of the Ukrainian kitchen. Good size borscht, but the broth lacked some of its characteristic richness and seemed incomplete without greens like dille and parsley, perhaps even (more) bay leaf. Kiev Chicken tasted rather bland and missed a bit of a bite. Will return for dinner to try some more flavours, and have syrniki for dessert, next time!

Super great delicious meal with brilliant food. Authentic Ukrainian cuisine is still cooked here, just like Mom's. Everyone was thrilled with us. The restaurant owner also puts in a lot of effort and was super nice and also took time for her customers. I would have preferred to take everything off the menu, but the food was so powerful that unfortunately you couldn't manage more than two dishes.
