GET THE SOURDOUGH WITH EGGS AND POUR THE HOMEMADE KETCHUP ON TOP IT’S UNBELIEVABLE But apart from the amazing food, Box Sociaal has the friendliest staff in all of Amsterdam. Such a warm and welcoming environment. The food is also always such a hit.

My partner and I came in for some breakfast and as usual, the Sweet Hot Chick was amazing. One of my favorite breakfast stops in Amsterdam, especially because of the fried halloumi fries. The regular fries were a little wonky, but I chaulked that up to the fact that we had some sweet/spicy breakfast stuff in addition. Overall, wonderful experience as usual.

The shop is very nice, large, has many tables, has many options for breakfast. The quality of the food is good but the prices are a bit expensive for the quantity, the coffees are mediocre. Very polite staff, very welcoming and nice atmosphere, nice area in general for a walk and you can sit there to eat and drink comfortably.

The place is nice. The wait isn't long. The food is delicious. We had a very tasty roasted chicken and a delicious breaded cutlet. However, they don't sell many drinks other than cocktails in the evening. We felt we weren't treated the same as those who ordered a lot of cocktails. But I recommend going to try it; that's what we had for dinner.

the food is average and they only allow you to stay for 1.5 hours… our table wasnt ready on time so we actually got less, meaning our food and drink was rushed. the servers were very friendly though

The coffee and food were good, but the place is very crowded. We had to sit literally a meter away from another couple and could hear their conversation clearly. Everyone is packed closely together, which felt quite uncomfortable. Overall, it’s a good spot – but only if you don’t mind eating in a very crowded environment.

Great lunch experience, the food was amazing with very quick service. Many different options, including many vegetarian ones. This restaurant was also dog friendly which was very nice.

The wonderfully kind hostess was able to make room on the reservations and squeeze us in. Thank goodness she did! Sourdough toast was incredible, and the bacon was crispy and the egg perfectly prepared so that it oozed onto the egg sandwich.

Super chill environment with really friendly staff and great service. The food was immense. My fellow dinner had, in his words, the best halloumi fries and the best beef burger he’s had in two years. He’s a foodie. My pumpkin soup and sourdough was sublime followed by the salmon tartare with beetroot. Wow. Also enjoyed the non alcoholic drinks. Delish. We’re extremely full! Highly recommend. We would definitely return.

Cocktails are out of this world, some classics with a twist and others creative originals, all very well balanced and a perfect strength. Food was so tasty, staff were helpful and friendly and ambiance is welcoming but also cool. Couldn't recommend more.

Everything is made from scratch, so be patient during busy times. It's worth the wait. This place only gets one less star because they were out of the shakshuka, which I came for. But honestly, I can’t fault the staff — everyone was friendly and helpful. The service was a bit slow, but I’ll put that down to it being a busy Saturday morning. The food was fresh, and the waiter’s recommendation was spot on — I was really happy with it! The coffee was smooth and really good. I’ll definitely be visiting again.

Good food and very tasty. Quality was great. They charged us for tap water which I found a bit weird. It is slightly pricey but that’s brunch always. I had Kim’s tacos and a portobello mushroom with halloumi sandwich. The sandwich was great and chicken tenders were amazing

This Place is THE BEST Place for Brunch! We already came 3x over the months and the Quality is consistently amazing! Also the cocktails are really good! Yesterday we had the daily special A Cesar salad bagel with poached egg - pleaaseeeee add it to the menu It was great! :)

Ordered bread and butter, only to wait 45 minutes for it to arrive. No service of drinks for an hour, only after asking… A third of the table could order drinks, and the waitress was already gone, so we had to wait another 15 minutes before the rest of us could order. Finally, after 1 hour and 45 minutes, the main course arrived — only half the table was served, and the other half had to wait another 15+ minutes before they got their food. I can only describe it as a disappointment. The main course was 22 euros for three tacos the size of a starter, with hardly any filling in them (it was not a shared dining concept with smaller portions). Would not recommend.

The food was good; we ordered The Kater Breakfast Sandwich, the cookie of the day (triple chocolate), and the juice of the day. Everything was very good. Excellent service and a wonderful atmosphere.

We stopped by for a quick lunch and it turned out to be excellent idea 😉 My wife and I had their Mortgage on Toast and this was absolutely great! The coffee and desert (brownies with vanilla ice cream) we awesome. The place has a very nice atmosphere and it is definitely a great stop while exploring Amsterdam. The stuff is very friendly.

We had a reservation at 10:30 and arrived at 10:55. There was a queue, and even though we mentioned our reservation, we were asked to wait. The people in front of us, who didn’t have a reservation, were seated at our table, and we were refused service because it was already 11:00. Our reservation was valid until 12:00. Very poor organization and customer service. I would not recommend this place.

Mostly good but service was bad, I ordered I dish that looked like it contained a fried egg from Instagram page pictures; it ended up to be false picture, there is no egg in the dish; the dish arrived cold with cold beans and bun and ofc no eggs, so basically dish description didn’t match the photo and I only looked at the photo. I tried to eat it but the dish was cold and dull, when I have expected it to be a warm dish as I saw eggs on the picture. I didn’t enjoy cold breakfast so I asked to exchange the dish. Eventually I was asked to pay for both dishes, where clearly there was false marketing about the dish. I asked ro remove it and got a discount of 7 eur. I think I should not have paid for the dish at all. Markering team shoud check if promotional content depicts reality and doesn’t mislead customers, and then its customer fault for not reading descriptions. It’s clear now many customers shop by looking at pictures and asking waiters to bring it. Not happy how that situation was handled, considering I’ve visited this place before and had good experience and high expectations for food and service.

Was seated at the booth for brunch time, no wait around 12pm on a weekday. They had a different menu for the season and got a breakfast sandwich with ice latte. The sandwich was good with bacon, fried egg, a thin layer of hashbrown, and patty. It looks small but it was pretty filling. The ice latte was ok, felt a bit watered down. Bathrooms located in the lower floor and stalls were small. Overall, good place to stop by for a quick brunch.

Having done a reservation online without any information on time-slots, the waitress when we sat down she informed us that we had 1:30 without any prior communication. It’s a petty because the food was good but the whole experience was already ruined. Her attitude was terrible.

This cafe was 10/10, food menu is exceptional it was almost too hard to choose. Cafe itself is beautiful and all the staff were very friendly and helpful. Coffee was good too. Would highly recommend especially the eggs Benny and chicken pancakes.

The place is big and spacious, the food is delicious. I ordered shakshouka, avocado, and eggs.

Food not so tasty. They shouldn't call their pancake "Eaton my feelings" if the waiters think you're joking and they don't add it to the order. Then after 50 minutes, it's a small 19€ pancake. She even asked for tips at the end, hah! Not coming back.

This restaurant was recommended by a blog and we had high expectations; however, it was a complete disappointment. The service was terrible from the start to the end and not only for our table, there were other guest who appeared to have a similar experience. We had reservations but were expected to sit in the middle of the restaurant, right where the wait staff was walking back and forth. We waited forever for someone to finally notice us, bring us the food menus and take our order afterward. The menu was fairly limited which isn’t a problem. We picked the burger with chicken which was very overcooked and the chicken was chewy. We also ordered the chicken, and it again was chewy and overcooked. One positive is that the fries that were served with both meals were delicious and tasted homemade. The piece of salad that was served with the chicken was covered in what tasted like vinegar but it didn’t have much of a flavour otherwise. Finally, the ambience was non existent compared to the fun and unique places we had already visited in Amsterdam. Lastly, the floors and stairs were filthy like they hadn’t been cleaned in months. Sadly, we would not return to or recommend this establishment.

I definitely recommend it, especially for breakfast. The dishes are simple but incredibly delicious. You can enjoy breakfast with a canal view. The fresh fruit juices are also delicious.

Our 2nd time here as a group. The first time we pre-ordered the food but it still took more than an hour. 2nd time we didn’t preorder as it was a smaller group, it took one hour. Hope you can improve your service.

The restaurant itself is quite spacious with a seating area outside as well if the weather permits. It's situated in a rather picturesque area of Amsterdam. The staff were amazing: very friendly and helpful. We asked if we could move to a larger table as there were six of us and it wasn't a problem for them. The brunch menu, I think, really does have something for everyone. There is a good range of meat and veggie options. I chose the veggie breakfast sandwich which was really delicious. The cocktails are also very tasty. I really want to go back to try out their evening menu.

I love the waffle with fried chicken. Fried chicken was coated with a spicy honey sauce - kinda like Korean style. The combination was delicious!

Delicious snacks and a great atmosphere

I really don’t understand the ratings. We went as a group of 5 - service was good. But the food was mediocre, at best. Everyone at the table thought it was barely OK. We tried the tacos - ok. The steak was served cold with cold fries, the pasta was lukewarm and ok.

I went here for breakfast on a Saturday with a reservation. The food was delicious, but they scheduled the reservations very close together. Empty plates were cleared away while people were still eating. Then they showed up almost immediately with the bill even though we'd ordered another round of coffee and tea. Apparently, they already needed the table for the next reservation. We felt like we were being pushed out. So, it was a bad experience, and I went home feeling a bit down.

Words fall short. It's a very good place to get brunch. We got Eggs Benedict, shakshuka and Halloumi fries.

A truly wonderful visit to Box Sociaal Jordaan. The atmosphere is super nice and cozy, even though the place feels relatively small and the seating is a bit cramped. The service was super friendly and very accommodating, and they even gave me a free bottle of water :) The coffee (cappuccino in this case) was a solid 10; I've rarely had a better one. There's almost nothing to complain about with the food either, although my companion's halloumi with asparagus and peas was a bit too plain, lacking in dressing and seasoning. Overall, a flawless experience; we'll be back 👍🏼

Updates from the previous review: I was able to get in touch with Box Sociaal Jordan after this review and the owner of the restaurant clarified the mistakes and it got resolved. The bill on the table from the previous customers were not cleared when they charged me and it was reconciled. I appreciate the restaurant taking the effort to make it right. Thank you. —- Previous review: The food and service was okay but the resturant scammed us by charging us “open cocktails” of 26 euros that we never had. I found out about it after we paid and checked the recipt afterwards. Be careful with the scam.

Box Sociaal Jordaan is a fantastic spot that left me impressed. I tried the Shak Attack, which was such an interesting blend of spices and flavors, hearty yet nutritious, and it really stood out. What I love about this place is the balance, they offer plenty of healthy brunch options, but also indulgent dishes like their tacos and the delicious chicken drizzled in syrup, which was absolutely worth it. The atmosphere is cozy and welcoming, making it the perfect place to relax and enjoy a meal. Overall, a wonderful experience, and I would definitely recommend coming back again.

I cannot explain how perfect this meal was my first night in Amsterdam! I was dining solo and it was a little slow so I got a table right by the canal. Service was lovely, I was going to get the chicken sandwich and she encouraged me to get the cheeseburger and she was RIGHT! It was so delicious. My mocktail was also 10/10. Just a lovely atmosphere and delicious food.

A great breakfast place in one of the most popular areas of Amsterdam. The service is relaxed, nice and very friendly. The food is sooo tasty, fresh and high quality. We had avocado toast with egg and a breakfast burger. Both dishes were great! I definitely recommend visiting this place! And I can't forget the beautiful view out the window and the opportunity to sit by the canal and enjoy the beautiful view.

We've been to Box Sociaal Plantage 2 times already and had an absolutely great experience. Exceptional food and service. When visiting Box Sociaal Jordaan we did hope for somewhat similar quality. However, chicken was overcooked and was overly covered in syrup/sauce - we ordered the same dishes we had at the Plantage location. Service was okay but again since we had another location as reference, this one felt just felt a bit cold. It might have just been a bad day perhaps.

I decided to try this place after seeing the great reviews and photos on Google. I ordered the chicken parm and while the dish looked great, I found the chicken, the marinara and the fries to be completely flavorless. This seemed to be a place for American expats who are missing classic American radio tunes, food that is lacking flavor and being asked to tip for mediocre service.

300/10 service, 10/10 food We arrived during rush hour, and our order was forgotten. When this was discovered, we were immediately offered a free dessert and shortly after, the entire lunch was free. We didn't complain; the offer was 100% from the staff. That's customer service. Thank you, we will definitely be back on our next visit to Amsterdam.

The shakshouka is average (it doesn't suit our taste as Arabs have a sour taste) The rest is good The cinnamon roll is delicious. I recommend it.

We chose to eat here because the location and atmosphere are stunning and not too touristy (I almost don't want to make the review too good so it stays a secret). The food was amazing, the staff is really friendly, overall a very pleasant stay. If ever I find myself back in Amsterdam I'll make sure to come back here.

A nice place for brunch. I found the pancake with tender chicken a tiny bit too sweet and the benny eggs with avocado a bit too sour though. But I have to say that I have quite sensitive taste buds. My husband was happy with the food.

After reading so many positive reviews, we were really looking forward to trying this place. But sadly it was a big disappointment. We waited OVER AN HOUR(no exaggeration here) for our food, and at no point were we informed about the long wait before ordering. When we asked, the only response we received was “we are busy.” Once the food arrived, the quality did not meet expectations: the eggs were overcooked instead of poached, the halloumi was oily, overly salty, and unpleasant in texture(rubber like). The food was honestly so bad that I couldn’t even finish my meal. The oat matcha latte tasted more like plain oat milk with green coloring than a proper drink. What made the experience worse was that no apology or acknowledgment was offered for the delay or the food quality. Overall, it felt far from what one would expect at restaurant level, especially for THE PRICE THEY CHARGE YOU, and sadly, it turned out to be one of the least enjoyable lunches we’ve had in a long time.

The place was so beautiful, only one two persons were working when I got there but it didn't make the experience bad, the food was very good and the prices were fair
