Food is okay. Service is terrible. Nobody stopped by not once to check on whether we were enjoying the meal or offered a refill on drinks. Just nothing very disappointing.

We ate here with four people on Friday night. Despite being packed, the service was excellent and the food delicious. It's amazing how they can handle that even with such a busy crowd. Highly recommended.

We had a lovely evening with our family! The service was very attentive and friendly, even after the appetizer they asked if we were ready for the main course! We were also given every attention, and they regularly asked if we wanted a drink or needed anything! The food was delicious, the steak was perfect, and the dessert was absolutely delicious!

Great restaurant to eat simply in Heerhugowaard. The only disadvantage we experienced was that there is a lot offered for children (children's menu / entertainment bag / box of toys) only no space to change them. A bit of service is not offered here (by both the staff and the owners) and they make you change your child with your own coat on the floor by the toilet...

Excellent restaurant with delicious food and very friendly service.

The place is nice and the starter was served fast as it's prepared in advance. To be honest tuna tonijn 5 spices were poor in freshness and taste (see the photo). It is completely different from the photo on some reviews from a year ago. The cauliflower curry cream was okayish... After that the main dish was not served or cooked probably until the waiter came and asked if we want a main now. It had been 25 minutes since we finished the starter so we were a bit disappointed that the main were not even cooked yet. (We were not drinking just waiting.) The risotto and the steak salad were nice though the seasoning was home cook level. Only the bief was nice and tender! 👌

We were a group of four adults and one child from three different countries (Holland, Scotland and Cambodia). All of us had different dishes and all of us were very satisfied with the quality of the food and the pleasant service.

Had a high tea at Brass with four nice women. Beautifully presented, delicious food, enough for everyone and a nice atmosphere. Definitely recommended.

Christmas brunch. You get a tier with sandwiches and some sweets and a small cup of soup. Coffee, tea and other drinks are included. We had to pay separately for a glass of prosecco. This was stated when placing the order. We had quite a nice seat and the service was friendly, but for €39.50 p.p. the quality of what was offered was too mediocre.

At Brass everything is just right! A warm welcome, beautifully laid tables, a clean menu, friendly service, attractive ambiance and, not unimportant, divine food! Price quality is in proportion. I can't wait to eat there again.

4-7-2024 just a good place to eat. Went for lunch on March 21, 2024 and it was perfect again. 8/20/2023 You can have fantastic food here, but the cocktails are way too expensive. Went again on May 3, 2023, everything was great. good food 8/21/2022.

First time having lunch since the new name. Friendly staff. There is plenty of parking space nearby. I had the hamburger which was very tasty.

What strikes me is that we 3 weeks ago and last week. There is a difference on my plate. We took the same dish. On the last visit there were fewer pieces of meat and only 4 beans and 3 pieces of carrot. It shouldn't get any crazier. Pay more and less on your plate. So Brass is a thing of the past for us

Cozy restaurant with very friendly and attentive staff and delicious food

On Friday May 3rd we went to Brass restaurant (previously known as De Kolonist) for dinner with the family. It was wise we had booked in advance a table for 6 people, because the place was fully packed when we arrived at 6.30pm. As starters we tried the Nacho cheese, Rendang croquettes and goat cheese salad. All very tasty. Because it was so busy the waiter apologized for the long waiting time for the main course. Noteworthy the restaurant had a temporary (Depending on the season) Asparagus menu including meals and soup). The cook was extremely busy. As main course we tried all a different meal: fish of the day (zeebaarsfilet), beef steak, beef tenderloin, veal ribeye, stoofaal and the vegan burger. We all loved our dish. Very good food quality and wine (excellent Rioja and Chardonnay). As a desert we tried the Dame Blanche, Fondant au Chocolat, fruit cheesecake and the cheese platter with a glass of Port. Overall excellent place for dinner. Service with a smile, quality food and drinks.

We went out for a nice meal with four people. In my opinion and not just my opinion, it was quite noisy at Bras on the raised area at the back of the restaurant, the food tasted good. We found the owner a bit too smart, self-absorbed, it's just annoying when the super super super satay according to him! the super is so great and it turns out to be cold / lukewarm, it is extra annoying to report! just a large satay with satay sauce (€27.00 - I was just craving that! My wife said you have to report it because this is not okay, it was resolved fine in the end. I would like to say just do it then it won't be so uncomfortable. for the rest, good luck to Wensink Bras! The taste of the "super" satay and sauce was also excellent, according to my wife!

Delicious food and three courses but more than enough large portions!

We had dinner here with the family on Friday and overall the food was good, however I found the children's dishes to be shameful. The pancakes were ready-made and he was served one scoop of ice cream for dessert, nothing more. Afterwards he could get a present. For what you get the price was very high. Can't compare to our meals and desserts. People were smoking outside on the terrace and every time the door was opened, a smoke came in, not very nice. The little man did receive a nice package for entertainment.

One of the best places in the Netherlands. Every single thing that I ordered was magnificent. The tuna as a starter was fresh and savory when combined with the wasabi and the nori that accompanied it. The oysters had the perfect combination of flavors that all came together in that one bite. I ordered two steaks that were to die for. The meats were tender, juicy, and grilled to perfection and the side of fries complemented the meat quite nicely. As for dessert, the cheese platter was exquisite, allowing you to try so many varieties of cheeses originating from different countries/regions and being accompanied by sweet delicacies which accentuated the flavor of the cheeses even further. Finally, the dessert drink that I ordered contained the perfect combination between lemon ice cream, vanilla ice cream, and alcohol, thus making it an amazing drink to end the night with. The only negative thing I must mention is that I made a reservation online, however when I arrived to the location, they did not have me registered, thus I ended up waiting for a table to be free. Overall, I would recommend trying this place as it is unforgettable.

Great place for fine dining at very acceptable prices. Service, speed and taste are fantastic. Only the reservation system must improve: we made it online and by phone and it is supposed they will confirm you afterwards; confirmation never came and when we arrived, our reservation was not registered. Anyhow they gave us a table after some minutes

The door opens and they greet you as you enter. The service is good, you are asked if you want a main course after your starter or if you want to wait a while. It was cozy and the food was good.

After the funeral of our mother-in-law, we went for a drink at BRASS. Perfect snacks with a drink. Top service from Axel and his brigade!

We had a delicious meal here. A large menu with lots of choice. The food tasted good and the service was professional.

A wonderful evening with friends. Extremely friendly and knowledgeable service and the surprise menu is definitely recommended. Just let them know what they come up with and indicate in advance what you don't want and then everything will be fine. 4 courses is more than enough for a full evening program. When placing the order, we indicated that we wanted to take it easy and that we wanted to have the opportunity to talk to each other. This was handled very well. perfect time between courses and a delicious glass of wine to have a pleasant conversation with each other but also occasionally with the service. The menu is extensive enough for everyone to find something they like. The surprise menu gives you things that you would normally not choose from the menu, but every course was delicious. We had a lovely seat at the front of the restaurant next to the entrance. Because it is a kind of bay window, you are not bothered by guests walking in and out and you are less likely to be bothered by the hustle and bustle of others. Parking in front of the door and if there is no space there, you can easily park your car on the Raadhuisplein diagonally opposite. Based on this experience, we would certainly like to come back again! This restaurant is definitely recommended.

Wat een leuke uitstraling heeft dit restaurant! De gastvrouw die ons ontving had een super gezellige en vrolijke uitstraling. Het maakt je al vrolijk om er te zijn!

Hier valt weinig meer over te zeggen. Wij zijn na ruim 5 maanden afwezigheid teruggekeerd naar Nederland. Opnieuw de Kolonist nu Brass bezocht. Het is gewoon lekker en het voelt als thuiskomen. Maroesja is een fijne gastvrouw en Axel een geweldige chef de cuisine.

Na een vervelende periode dachten wij...we gaan er even uit.. Dus een reservering geplaatst bij Brass. 18.00 uur konden wij terecht. Bij de reservering gevraagd om een plaatsje bij het raam. Bij aankomst niet beschikbaar. Maar dat vonden wij niet erg...we waren er tenslotte even uit. Het voorgerecht werd rond 18.35 geserveerd. (Besteld om 18.15) dus prima.... Ook om 18.15 het hoofdgerecht besteld. Het was erg druk, heel fijn voor Brass zelf natuurlijk. Maar om 19.00 nog niks...19.15 ook niet. Je denkt in eerste instantie bij jezelf...tja kan gebeuren...het is erg druk! Vervolgens gemeld bij de serveerster...zij melde ons: tja het is erg druk...in de keuken hangen wel 10 bonnetjes !!! Oooo ok..nog maar even afwachten dan. Maar wel heel vreemd dat de "tafeltjes" rondom ons wel hun hoofdgerecht voorgeschoteld kregen. Wat ons wel opviel is dat er om de 5 minuten iemand langs kwam om te vragen " willen jullie nog wat te drinken"? We waren ondertussen al 70 euro kwijt aan drankjes maar nog steeds geen zicht op het hoofdgerecht. (Besteld om 18.15 en het is nu 19.35). Dus weer gevraagd hoe het met ons hoofdgerecht stond. "Ik ga het even vragen voor u". Tot dat de ober bij ons kwam en vertelde: heeft u nog 1 minuut????? (De ober was heel vriendelijk en kundig dus aan hem lag het echt niet, terwijl het andere meisje heel nors reageerde). Heel erg jammer hoe er met de situatie wordt omgegaan. We zijn vertrokken met een betaalde rekening van rond de 70 euro en nog geen hap gegeten van het hoofdgerecht. Erg jammer....we keken er echt naar uit...maar gingen met een rot gevoel naar huis.

Was echt heerlijk daar eten. De bediening was top en de sfeer was gezellig! Zeker weten dat ik nog een x terug kom.

Het eten is heerlijk en de bediening is vriendelijk. Echter is voor mij een belangrijk aspekt van het uit eten gaan: het gezelschap. Maar van een goed gesprek kon geen sprake zijn omdat het lawaai binnen volgens mijn iPhone structureel tussen 85 en 95 dB lag. Als ze in het restaurant daar wat aan gaan doen, kom ik graag weer terug.

Met 4 personen geluncht. Zeer vriendelijke bediening. Een van ons had speciale menu wensen en dat was geen enkel probleem. We waren blij verrast toen het eten op tafel kwam: mooi opgemaakt en zeer ruime porties. Daarbij was het ook nog heel erg lekker. Als laatste was het afrekenen ook geen aderlating. Kortom, een echte aanrader!

Eerste keer gegeten bij brass, bij aankomst nog beetje twijvel. Achteraf zeer verrast, vlees is echt top. Attente mensen op de vloer en cote du bouf van 800gram was voor mij een feestje. Tot snel

Ik ben 38 jaar en de Kolonist was een plek waar mijn ouders gingen eten. Niet echt een plek voor hip dineren in de periferie van de Randstad. Sinds een aantal jaren is de Kolonist veranderd van eigenaar. Mijn man en ik kwamen een paar maanden geleden eens binnen, zonder al te hoge verwachtingen, voor een lunch. De huisgemaakte filet Americain en de burger waren foutloos. Vorige week at ik er met een vriendin. Het restaurant zat vol (met senioren, dat wel). Ze hadden zelfs de buurvrouw als bediening ingezet vanwege de drukte. We kozen ervoor om kleine gerechtjes te combineren met een hoofdgerecht: eerst vis en daarna vlees, dit vond de bediening nogal verwarrend, maar het kwam goed. We startten met oesters, coquilles en Thaise mosselen. De laatste was het minst op smaak. De bijpassende wijn, viognier, licht en breed inzetbaar. Daarna gingen we verder met buikspek en de flat iron (als hoofdgerecht) en toen bleek weer de kracht van Brass. Wie er ook in de keuken staat: hij/zij/hen is een vleesmeester. Buikspek zacht als boter en de flat iron perfect gebakken. Bij de flat iron hadden alleen wat meer groenten gemogen. Toen het dessert: er stond een chocolade cake op het menu. We vroegen of het een lavacake was. “Niet echt” zei de bediening. Nou, dat was het wel, en hoe? Simpel maar perfect. Ook nog een port erbij gedronken. Mooie wijnen gedronken, ondanks de beperkte kaart (ook voor non-alcohol zijn er weinig spannende opties, misschien een huisgemaakte ice-tea of alcoholvrije cocktail?) Kortom: de bekenden weten Brass te vinden. Maar dit restaurant verdient ieders aandacht die van vlees of chocolade houdt 😉.

Heerlijk gegeten voor een goede prijs

Top eten en gezellige spontane jonge bediening . Alleen voor de sfeer 'slechts' 4 sterren maar dat is alleen vanwege het feit en dat t restaurant helemaal vol zat en dan wordt t wat rumoerig waar ik persoonlijk niet zo goed tegen kan. Een ander zal dat weer super gezellig vinden natuurlijk:-).

Heerlijk gegeten en wat een vriendelijk personeel! Goed geserveerd, nooit lege glazen gehad en bediening was snel. Eten was van topkwaliteit en echt met zorg en liefde bereid. Zeker voor herhaling vatbaar!

Heerlijk gegeten vanavond alleen heeft het personeel wel wat meer product kennis nodig je word verkeerd geïnformeerd helaas en dat zie je later pas terug op je rekening en als je er iets over zegt draaien ze zich om en zeggen er niks over te weten helaas. Dus misschien wat scherper hierop gaan zijn.

Wat een leuk restaurant, gezellige sfeer, zeer vriendelijke bediening. Wij aten fine dining (kleine gerechten), we werden keer op keer verrast, de coquilles en eendenlever terrine zijn ware smaakbommetjes. Goede wijnen, maar de kaart mag iets uitgebreider. Kortom een aanrader!!

Eindelijk weer een plek waar je lekker kunt eten en een goed glas wijn kunt drinken. Klasse!
