Brasserie Amadeus in Wijk 00 Centrum

The staff were extremely kind and very respectful. We really enjoyed the goulash and the onion soup. The desserts were also excellent and very well prepared.

I'd been craving a good burger for weeks, and when I saw burgers on the menu this afternoon while enjoying a hot chocolate, I knew where I'd dine. The service was very fast and friendly, and the burgers were delicious. I could talk about this for ages, but that's enough for this review. It's a beautiful building inside, and the staff was very friendly. I don't know where the negative reviews are coming from, and that worried me for a moment, but perhaps other people's experiences were different from mine.

We had a good meal and everyone was very nice.

The chicken flaguette was truly fantastic. The chicken was super tender and beautifully marinated. Almost all the staff spoke English, but despite the rush, everything came through quickly.

Whenever we're in Maastricht, we always stop by the terrace at Amadeus. Great beer, delicious bitterballen, and friendly service. We'd love to come back (soon)!

I've been there several times in the past. Now (I think) there's a different owner. Tomato soup €8.50, which I wondered if it came from a can. I paid too much for lukewarm soup. What struck me most was the tea (hot water with a Pickwick tea bag) for €3.90. More expensive than the Hague coffee they served me.

We came here quite by chance and were very pleasantly surprised. The food was delicious and reasonably priced. The children's plate even included a toy and a sweet surprise. The dessert (cake) and coffee were so inviting that we wanted to linger – absolutely delicious! Carmen, our server, was also incredibly friendly, and overall, our day was perfect thanks to this visit! Thank you, we'll be back!!!

Excellent value for money. The staff (Carmen) is really nice and accommodating. The atmosphere (we sat upstairs) was cozy. The food was delicious. The little ones even get a lollipop after their meal! :) To finish, we treated ourselves to a slice of cake – super!!

The cola is undrinkable and the staff speaks Dutch with difficulty. The staff at the bar were constantly bickering.

Coffee and pastries. First the coffee, then the wait for the pastries. Finished the coffee, and then waited a bit longer for the pastries. How on earth is it so hard to offer both at the same time!!! Finally, the pie wasn't fresh!! Too bad, the presentation was good, but the follow-up and the freshness of the pastries left much to be desired.

Very bad!!! I always loved coming here. Today there was plenty of room on the terrace. Two free tables for 4. We, a group of five (2 parents, 3 teenagers), wanted to sit down and were SHOVED AWAY by a gentleman who spoke broken Dutch. The rule is: a maximum of 4 people. .....?????

Very little choices for vegetarians, I didnt see any vegan options I was there for lunch and couldn't finish my meal, when I asked for take away, I was told "we dont do take away, you are not allowed to take the rest with you" WHAT???

Many beers on the menu are unavailable. The staff only speaks English and not Dutch. Every time a question is asked, a colleague has to come over because apparently, only one person knows how it works.

Just had a delicious cup of coffee. I ordered a second one. I'm here alone and asked for a glass of water. The heat plan was brought out across the country today, but here the answer was that it wasn't possible. Only bottled. Still sparkling, they asked. Even my surprised look and some insistence were to no avail. The higher-ups couldn't do it. This is such a shame, for a world-class city like Maastricht. As a former hospitality worker, I understand that water costs money, the glass is an investment, and your staff don't work for free. But come on, this is why I won't be coming back because I don't feel welcomed. And that, in my opinion, is much worse.

Exceptional service, nice location!

The location is great, perfect for people-watching. We had a Bulgarian waiter who seemed a little chaotic. But after we chatted for a bit, he relaxed and turned out to be a very nice man! We had a wonderful time, and compliments to the waiter again!

It's nice to sit and watch the people go by, but while it seemed like an idyllic spot, you're ultimately mostly looking at shops. Only the bookstore offers a historical setting. We settled down there/took shelter when it started raining because you can sit on the terrace under large parasols. We ordered a snack platter for €25, but they should have called it a fried snack platter. We knew that beforehand; we'd asked, but it's misleading if you don't know. You got a ton of fried snacks, maybe 25-30? Too many for two people to snack on. But it certainly wasn't a snack platter. (Then you have more refined things like cheeses, olives, meats, etc.) The food I saw passing by wasn't refined either, just ordinary. It seems like a tourist trap to me because it's next to the bookstore. Nothing special, but okay.

Aufgrund der teilweise schlechten Bewertungen waren wir skeptisch, hatten aber kurzfristig keine andere Möglichkeit. Völlig überraschend hatten wir dann einen sehr schönen Abend. Das Essen war lecker und der Service perfekt. Wir haben überhaupt nichts zu bemängeln und können die negativen Bewertungen in keiner Weise nachvollziehen.

I usually come here for a drink, though it's quite expensive at €5 for tea, but it's good. The staff is friendly.

A cozy terrace to sit and a super friendly owner :-). Who just took over from the previous owner who, given the reviews, didn't feel like it anymore. That is clearly different with the new owner. Who gives time, service and attention to her customers Who also stayed to chat with us after closing time while she had already been closed for more than an hour. She absolutely did not give you the feeling that you (like terraces in Amsterdam) are being looked away because it is already closing time. Nice service and the atmosphere around the terrace is also very nice :-) Too bad we were too late for dinner so unfortunately I can't say anything about that. Most of the service is English but they do their best to understand Dutch as well. Definitely recommended

Please choose one of the other terraces that Maastricht has to offer. The place is nice but the staff is very rude. After almost 10 minutes on the terrace there was still no contact with the service staff. When a somewhat older waiter cleared the table next to me and I kindly asked if I would like to place an order my question was rejected with a resounding NO! Never experienced anything like this before. And no, it was not busy at that moment. I was (a woman) alone and therefore probably not at all interesting to this gentleman who was talking very animatedly at the other tables. If a passing grade has to be given, it is for rudeness. A big 10 for that! I quickly went to another terrace where I was welcomed hospitably. If I were the owner of this beautiful establishment I would very quickly look for other staff.

Nice location. Had a beer there, La Trappe wit on tap. Cold and tasty. No experience with food. It was a bit difficult to get in touch with the staff, they don't speak Dutch or speak it poorly. I vaguely remember that I also had some difficult contact here a while ago, so that has remained the same. Furthermore, nice terrace.

The brasserie named after Mozart, Amadeus, is located in a building built in the 17th century. What is even more impressive is that it is located next to the Dominican Bookstore (Boekhandel Dominicanen), a well-known place to visit in Maastricht. Some of the outdoor seats of the restaurant are even just a few steps away from the entrance of the bookstore. Therefore, when dining at the outdoor seats of Amadeus, you can enjoy the quaint facade of the former Dominican Cathedral built in the 13th century while leaning against the monument. After dining, you can directly visit the Paradise Bookstore. Overall, the excellent location is the biggest advantage of Amadeus. I referred to the reviews on Google and it seems that many of them are reserved, but the experience of this visit is not bad. The waiter's attitude is friendly and positive enough. The main course of the Dutch traditional sour beef stew ordered is tender, and the sour sauce contains onions and other condiments. The taste is rich but not greasy, which forms a good contrast with the other dishes; the French fries and tomato soup ordered separately are normal. Amadeus may be considered as one of the restaurants around Vriithof, so there may be other better choices for the food itself, but if you happen to be in front of the Dominican Bookstore and want to try it, I think it is still worth considering.

The menu is sufficiently extensive. The service was with 6 hard-working people. They kept a close eye on everything. Direct table, order taken almost immediately. We had "breakfast from the chef"... highly recommended. All tables around us were helped reasonably quickly. The orders were also brought quickly. In short, a score of 2.8 is not at all fair for the effort that is now being made.

Downright bad. Long wait before order is taken. Staff does not speak Dutch and bad English. Aperol Spritz had so much ice in it that I only tasted water, expensive glass of water 🤐

I had a Tuna Melt sandwich here, but it was very bad. Obviously cheap and bad tuna. Very nasty aftertaste too. Forgot to check Google reviews and with a 2.8 star review you actually know. Therefore, avoid this matter! You can get much better quality for your money!

We were in Maastricht and came across this brasserie by chance. It took quite some time before we were helped to our table on the terrace, but this may have been due to the crowds on the terrace. After this everything went well, but Radler 0.0 gave me a whiskey glass with ice cubes and a lemon slice. We had a 12 hour meal of 1 with fish and 1 with meat. This was very tasty, but it would be better to serve it with salt and pepper. Service was friendly. Toilet was clean, but you first have to go up a flight of stairs.

Given the many negative reviews, we were pleasantly surprised, we ate two very good hamburgers, the welcome was good and we didn't wait too long.

We went there to eat a piece of pie and an apple strudel and drink a cup of coffee. The service (although in English, but what does that matter nowadays?) was very friendly. The flan and apple strudel were really delicious. The apple strudel was just at the right temperature and had a nice taste, the rice and cherry pie was delicious (thin base, generously filled). Although a less good ending (we turned out to have been robbed by a thief who was sitting at an adjacent table, but we immediately received all the support and help from the managers who contacted the business managers): a good thing in which I do not recognize the many negative reactions.

Cold and unpleasant welcome. Service regardless of the people present outdoors this December 30, 2024 around 3 p.m. If what you order is no longer available, the drink will be replaced by another without asking your opinion. When you make the remark, you are told that they do not speak French. What a disappointment to want to enjoy a drink on the terrace and to be served this way. If French speakers bother you, put up a sign so we won't bother you anymore.

We in a group of 3 came to Maastricht today to review various catering companies including cafe restaurants, terraces, ... including the Brasserie Grand Café Amadeus (Restaurant Maastricht) located next to the Dominicanen Bookstore, and so we were not treated nicely today ! (To say the least) Especially by the grumpy staff member who ultimately reacts irritated, because you are immediately ignored the first time! The second time she came to the table irritated. We ordered 2x Coke and 1x Orange. But they let us sit while the customers around us later moved to other tables and got their drinks much earlier,...and we just waited????? We got up and left. We have made a note about this, and we only give it 1 star. Tomorrow we'll go back to the next catering location.

We, a group of three, sat down under the eyes of a waiter. We have been waiting patiently for 20minutes. In the meantime another group of people sat down right next to us. Their orders been taken immediately and there was loads of time for chit chat. We approached the waiter and asked to order. His response: don't rush me. 3minutes.

Nice place and great atmosphere, but the goulash soup is just bad. And watch the bill! We had a few drinks that weren't ours.

We were sitting inside in a table from which we saw asome elevators in which food arrived. We saw how the waiters took food off of the plates with their dirty hands and then took those plates to customers!! After seeing that I paid for my drink and left. What a shame!! I then decided to leave a review to prevent anyone coming here. That is when I saw all the bad reviews. I wish I would have checked them sooner.

Spent a day in Maastricht on Sunday. Visited the Dominican bookstore. Wonderful with books out. Then drink at Amadeus. The order was quickly taken for 1 Fanta and 1 double soda and 1 apple strudel with ice cream scoop and dollop of whipped cream. We thought it was nice. We had the apple strudel in almost 20 minutes and it was hard to find on the plate and that for € 9.00. After about 15 minutes we asked where the lemonade was. Cold, you would say, is ready sooner than a hot drink from a customer who came in after us and had her drink before us. Waitress wanted to pay for the order before we even got it, I often have my wallet with me. The drinks weren't finished yet when the waitress came to ask us if there was anything she could do for us and I said no. With the 1st order, after 15 minutes I asked where the lemonade was while it was already ready at the counter. My daughter walked to the counter later and was not greeted kindly either. While trays were delivered later and ready earlier. Are we less or what? Every customer is one, right?

De sfeer in de brasserie is super gezellig en de koffie en gerechten zijn echt lekker. Alleen het wachten kan soms best lang duren, wat wel een beetje jammer is als je snel iets wilt doen. Maar als je even de tijd hebt, is het een fijne plek om te genieten van goed eten en een lekker kopje koffie.

No warming terrace, just a few tables. Hot chocolate milk disgusting, the Irish coffee as well. Waiting 20 minutes to be served. I ordered an apfelstrudel that arrived a long time after my chocolate milk.

Downright bad experience. Staff at the table spoke only poor English, food was placed carelessly on the table and the toilet smelled quite a bit and was dirty. When paying, it turned out that an extra three euros per person had been charged for the pepper sauce with the steak. When I noted that in my opinion this was not correct, the manager was called in. She told me that the waiter told us that we would have to pay extra for this. I replied that when we placed the order we were only asked whether we wanted mushroom sauce or pepper sauce with the steak. I didn't look into this because I've never had to pay extra for the sauce anywhere. But the manager insisted that we had been informed in advance about the extra costs. (It's a good thing there was no mayonnaise with the fries. Who knows what that would have cost us.) I stuck to my story and said I wouldn't pay extra for the sauce. I do wonder how often this is done and whether it is a revenue model for this restaurant. They will never see me here again.

We sat at Amadeus because it is in a nice location. Someone came over for a chat, and there seemed to be an eye for us. Ordered drinks and dinner 7x. The first 5 dishes arrived at the same time (including 1 salmon) and the other two (salmon and 2 croquettes with fries) would come a little later. Staff often walked by, but completely ignored us and our empty glasses. After 20 minutes we asked if they had forgotten us. No, it was coming soon. After another 20 minutes (the first 5 plates were now empty) we asked again. Things would be done quickly and we would receive coffee from the company as compensation. But for now our glasses remained empty. Staff still walked by with all kinds of dishes for other people and even with bowls of water for dogs on the terrace. We were literally not looked after. Suddenly the croquettes with fries were brought, so we had good hope that the last two could still eat together. Still no request for a drink, the waitress didn't know how quickly she had to leave our table again. Plate empty, still no salmon. And no coffee. We paid and left. At our request, the salmon that was never delivered was removed from the bill and no further compensation was provided. As we walked away the waiter said “goodbye”. Then we explained that that will certainly not happen!

It's a small business, it's a neat business. The staff is very friendly and despite the crowds and the fact that their legs are running away, they keep smiling. The food we had was great! It had good flavor and was a super full plate by lunch. Good thing! I will definitely come here again on our next visit to Maastricht.

Small Pepsi Max €3.50 too expensive

You feel a bit robbed when you order food here. It's expensive and you don't get value for your money unfortunately. The young servant did his best, but that does not alter the fact that the food is tasteless.

Had lunch with my sister, I'm not going to waste any more words on it. The food was worse than bad. Not recommended, walk past immediately.

De Brussels wagel is heel lekker en start heel knapperig. Maar de slagroom werd. In ruime mate over de wafel verdeeld, waardoor die na enkele minuten wat papperig werd. Tip : slagroom apart serveren.

Good food, fast service and young and friendly waiters, even one of them spoke Spanish. a little expensive if compared to Spain but it's your thing in the Netherlands

Brasserie Amadeus The Brasserie Amadeus is located in the middle of Maastricht. Right next to the large library in the church. The restaurant is modern and comfortably furnished A small but beautiful place in a quiet location. The service was very good, the staff courteous. The coffee and beer were very good. You can park in the surrounding parking garages.

We had a great lunch here, but the (women's) toilet was really dirty and shabby / not working.

Asked for 2 Dame Blanches (€9.5), and 1 children's ice cream (€6.5) with strawberry sauce. Both types are applied with 2 balls (if you can call them balls), ice balls smaller than a golf ball. To supplement this amount, add a substandard dollop of whipped cream. In short, not value for money. But hey, once you've fooled every tourist once, you'll be rich.

Received two out of three dishes wrong, service was slow, noticeably for everyone around us dining there, though lots of waitresses around and none of them seemed to be wanting to do their job, rude and dismissive on top when asked about non-dairy milk alternatives for coffee. When informed about the basin being blocked/overflowing in the ladies, I was being interrupted and rudely told they are aware of the issue. Won’t go again.

We thought we would have a nice cup of coffee with delicious fresh Limburg pie. Entourage attracted us to sit down and order. Unfortunately I haven't looked at the reviews yet... too bad. I think most of them are justified because; service is mediocre, coffee just DE for 3.50 and the pie came 10 minutes later (coffee almost finished and now lukewarm). We also believe that the pie at JUMBO is tastier and fresher... what a disappointment! The whipped cream had turned yellow and had now run out, the bottom tasted like the plate it had been on, the crust was not eaten, it was not coming through. For those who want to enjoy Limburg, I would skip this one. Missed opportunity.

Service 0 stars! More than 30 minutes after ordering they were unable to serve cola and bitters. A total of 3 waitresses were unable to deliver what was ordered. We then gave up eating there.

You can only eat here after 1700, not have a drink

The chocolate milk tasted like water with nesquick, and I'm being charged 3.75 for it. There was no milk, it wasn't hot, and other than losing money I'm also losing my dignity.

Ordered a soy cappuccino. It was undrinkable. We didn't want to pay him, but the manager immediately threatened the police. Do you want nice coffee? Go somewhere else.

Wir sind es selber schuld, hätten wir die Bewertungen gelesen wären wir dort nicht eingekehrt. Essen war eigendlich lecker nur leider kalt serviert, nach Beschwerde wurde der Fingertest der Kellnerin durch mein pasteitje durchgeführt 🙈 abserviert und neu erhitzt plus gratis Pommes aber das Fingerloch war weiterhin zu sehen......Ekelhaft!!!

Genuinely the worst restaurant/cafe in Maastricht. I sat down at a table with my mother and no one came to check on us. A staff member was just standing next to the entrance, did not greet us or any other customer for that matter. After 20 minutes of waiting, I waived her over only to get a rude comment of "that's not my table". She just walked away without getting the correct staff member. After waiting for an extra 10 minutes I was able to waive down another staff member who took our order. We only ordered two glasses of wine which we had to wait for another 20 minutes. When we finally got our drinks, I noticed that my glass was covered in lipstick stains so I don't think the glass was even washed. I had to go up to the bar myself because there was no staff member in sight that I could tell this to. Did not get a single "sorry" or even a smile the entire time. If you are a tourist in Maastricht just walk around the corner to Vrijthof where you'll get nice drinks and lovely service. It is a pity that this restaurant takes up such a beautiful spot in Maastricht. I hope one day another restaurant or cafe takes over....

Disgraceful, rude service. We were a group of 4 and as we tried to put 2 tiny tables together to have space we got rudely interrupted by the waiter who simply barged in, separated the tables and told us "3 maximum per table". We asked if there was more space elsewhere and without even looking at us he said "I don't know" and left. Do not give money to business who treat customers like an annoyance.
