Brasserie Bâton/ Espressamente Baton in Grachtengordel-West

Had a lovely lunch experience here at Brasserie Baton, sitting by the canal on a quiet and sunny late summer day. I had the Chef Salad with chicken mayo, avocado and crispy bacon and lots of fresh ingredients. Rounded it off with an espresso. A really decent sized and tasty meal. Staff were very friendly and efficient, the food came quickly. Would definitely return. Highly recommend a visit, especially if the sun is shining.

The best cafe ever in my trip with very kind staffs, nice coffee and dessert.

My wife said the coffee she had here was the best of all of the places we visited on a two-week trip. It was raining when we visited but the awning outside still allowed us to sit outside and enjoy the view of the street and canal. A wonderfully peaceful place to enjoy an Amsterdam morning

The coffee was very good and I really enjoyed it. The apple cinnamon cake was okay, but nothing special. Overall, it was a nice place to have a coffee.

We sat for a coffee and some breakfast near the canal. The food was very disappointing and the coffee more so. The service was fast and pleasant, but when we asked for milk on the side for a coffee, we got a couple of creamer satchels , like you would get in the train or plane. We were very unpleasantly surprised by the lack of fresh milk, although this explained the stale bread and an absolutely uneatable carpaccio.

We came for breakfast this morning, had one Healthy Breakfast and one Beef Sandwich, and really enjoyed them. They have tables next to the canal. It's a great spot to have breakfast and relax by the canal.

Stumbled across this place for breakfast/brunch when we first arrived. Friendly staff, quaint location and delicious food. My Cortado was also very tasty

We ordered a hot chocolate, a latte, and American pancakes. We didn't drink the beverages because they were very bad and clearly made with a machine. The pancakes were probably frozen; edible, but not good.

A restaurant offering simple, tasty, and healthy cuisine at a moderate price. The setting is very pleasant, with an outdoor terrace overlooking the canal, ideal for fully enjoying the atmosphere of Amsterdam. A perfect place for a relaxing time.

Will forever be my favorite cafe in Amsterdam. Coffee is delicious, amazing atmosphere both inside and outside. However, the best of all remains the incredible staff. Each of them lights up the room and always has me leaving with a smile on my face. Make the time to go here!!!

Nice cafe that is very well located, unfortunately it is quite expensive for what you get and they also don't have any alcoholic drinks, which feels strange for a brasserie.

We like to grab a bite to eat at lunchtime. Everything went perfectly here. The coffee and bread were excellent. Delicious and generously filled. We can highly recommend it! 👍👌

We came here 3 times, twice for breakfast and a late lunch. The gluten free bread is very good. We had the healthy breakfast with wonderful fresh ingredients. Our lunch was also delicious and they were happy to change my bread choice. Cappuccino also good here. We wish we would have found it sooner.

We've been coming here for many years, and it's our favorite café in Amsterdam. Whether it's breakfast or lunch, everything tastes wonderful. The cheesecake and coffee are our favorites. The staff is also super friendly, and we've become friends over the years. The building is wonderfully cozy, and it's also lovely to eat in such a historic building. The view makes a perfect Amsterdam vacation, as you look directly out onto the canal. An absolute recommendation.☕️

The atmosphere is well-maintained and the service is good, BUT THE BREAKFASTS ARE DISGUSTING. The prices are outrageous, and for what you pay, you'd expect at least a decent meal. Instead, the result is: defrosted croissants, fruit juices passed off as fresh, coffee bitter as sin despite the sugar packet, and if you ask for a croissant with Nutella (which cost €4.50!), they bring you a 15-gram packet of Nutella to spread yourself on a croissant that feels like cardboard, the same goes for the jam croissant. In total, we spent €17.40!! This is truly shameful.

we came for breakfast and had tomato soup and thai soup (soup of the day) both came with a lovely generous helping of brown seedy bread! the soups were nice and warm and settled in our stomachs very well. our coffees came with a delicious little lebkuchen slice too. lovely to sit outside and watch the toings and goings. thanks!

I don’t like complaining but my experience today in that place was outstandingly horrible. I walked into the place and asked if they had something savory to eat, the lady offered me the menu and I saw that all the dishes there required some time to prepare/ eat while I was looking for a snack. I asked her if they had something to take away and she said “Yes, we do” and gave me a different menu. I decided to go for a sandwich and what they brought to me you can see in the picture below. How I can walk with that bread? Does it look like a snack? I was really upset since I had a meeting and didn't have much time to eat. However, I already paid, and as you can see from the picture this sandwich is completely untransferable. I decided, ok, that sucks, but I'm going to eat it quickly inside and go. At that point lady came to me and said “No, you can't eat it inside, it's only for takeaway, if you want to eat it here, you should pay 3 € extra”🤡 Seriously????? You sold me a product that I can't put in my bag and I have to pay extra if I want to eat it???? On top of that the bread was stale and I couldn't cut it with the knife that they provided to me for 3 €. However, the guy in the kitchen was very kind and cut it for me.

Stopped in for a quick coffee to start my day and loved this adorable spot! I sat at the bar along the windows to overlook the canal as I enjoyed my tasty latte. Staff were insanely friendly as well! 10/10 experience!

a very unique place for me. We ate our brunch here in our honeymoon, and 11 years later, we come across this place again with our kid. Only when we entered it, did we recognize that it is so familiar. What a coincidence!

What a cozy restaurant on the canal. Were here during the Amsterdam City Walk on October 19, 2024 and sat outside on the terrace. It was nice and busy so I ordered with the QR code on the table. This worked very well and our lunch was delivered very quickly and tasted delicious. Only praise for this restaurant. The service is very good, very fast service and friendly staff. It also looks very cozy inside.

Best sandwiches in town, for a real fair price we go there very often and pick one of several available Sandwiches. You can choose different kind of bread and multiple versions of fill ins salmon, pastrami, tuna, cheese, omelette and so on always included fresh vegetables 🥗 Changes are happy to be made from the service

I stayed a hotel down the street for almost a week, and this became my go-to breakfast place. The staff were friendly, service was quick and the coffee was delicious. The croissants were perfect.
