Grand Café Hermes in Bedrijventerrein Sloterdijk

The service was excellent. We were a large group. The food was fantastic! Especially the spare ribs, highly recommended! And Sloterdijk station was right on your doorstep, so everyone got home easily.

Nice, cozy, a little bit chaotic but very nice place to spend a nice evening with a group of friends! The portions are big, so it is also possible to share and taste more dishes. The steak was amazing! 👌

Just celebrated my silver anniversary with dinner with colleagues, and thanks in part to the staff, we had a fantastic evening. I'll definitely be back.

The staff is always nice, the delicious goat cheese salad is my favorite from the menu, and they have primitivo wine 🍷

Had a drink before ADE at Sloterdijk

We have spent many hours at Hermes in it's early days. We have all ventured away since but it was good to find the Friday afternoon vibe is still very much alive at Hermes. We've thoroughly enjoyed our stay again, thanks Peter and team.

Had a wonderful meal after a long day. Clear menu, relaxed atmosphere, simply excellent.

Nice people, good food, tasty beers and easy to visit from the station.

I’m here on a business trip, and this restaurant is right downstairs, so I came a few times. But honestly, I wouldn’t come back again. First, be careful when checking your bill — we only ordered two beers, but they charged us for five. On another day when the place was busy, one of the servers was extremely rude. When bringing our beers, they just slammed them down on the table with a loud bang, which felt very disrespectful. Really disappointing experience.

I don't understand how this place gets good reviews. During lunch on Monday, I ordered a tuna melt for €15.50. The waitress walked around like a shy little bird, and we didn't feel any hospitality whatsoever. The tuna melt was a hard roll with tuna straight from a can (unprepared) mashed with oversized jalapeño chunks. Prepared without any interest or love for good food, yet charged a premium price. More than half of it was left, but when clearing the table, they obviously ignored it, as is practically everything else at this place. Disgraceful!

We were recommended this place by our hotel reception. The food was really quite ordinary for really not ordinary prices. If I buy a double burger for 23 euros I don’t respect a super market bought thin, over cooked and largely tasteless burger. The only real highlight was the service. Both waiters were absolutely on point and the lovely server with the darker hair we had a great chat with. Both my partner and I thought the food needed improvement, considering the prices they have put everything it, it really should be better.

Were with a group, commotion Service was fast and friendly. Food and portions were good!

I often visit this place with friends and colleagues. Really like the ambience.

Before you even reach your table where your business meeting awaits you, you are chased, stopped halfway and asked what I was looking for. I explained that I walked to the table where my appointment was sitting and was asked standing up what I wanted to drink because my appointment already had tea. After ordering I was able to continue.

One of the best Cafe near Amsterdam. It has been like a go to spot with my colleagues. Nice ambience and friendly staffs.

Service and atmosphere were fine. This is a nice place for a drink. However, our jaws dropped when we got the bill: we paid 12 euros for half a liter of Weihenstephaner! These are prices that you would rather expect on Dam Square than on an industrial estate next to Sloterdijk. Of course, the charm of the business park is also worth something, and officially it is still Amsterdam, but still, we thought this was very solid.

Food was good, but took an age (15 mins) for the waiter to take the drinks order, and then when had finished no-one came to clear the plates or offer dessert or even another drink. So we paid (by going to the bar, because no-one came to the table) and left. Went to the Skybar across the road and had a very pleasant drink with attentive service. Need to improve the service guys.

The food is delicious and the atmosphere is nice. However, it was disappointing that the special beer was not available on the day we went. ㅠㅠ

We came in looking for a place to eat on a recommendation from another restaurant. We were greeted by a young man who told us to pick a tabel, which we did, and the server went back to his colleagues at the end of the bar near the entrence, 4 servers in the room, plus kitchen staff, and we got comfy at our table. Then, no follow up. No menus brought. No one interacted with us. We then sat for what felt like longer than it was, (as we were hungry) i noticed our initial server leave (his shift was over?) And still, no menues, no drink orders, no interactions from anyone. After a good 20+ minutes of just sitting there my parter goes to get us menus, with her gone, i make eye contact with a server who comes over, and i ask "is there no service?" Meaning to follow up with "do we order at the bar?" (I have never been here before so i am unsure what their set up is. Different venues have different work models.) But i never get the chance to ask my second question as the server rather forcefully and defensively states "we were busy." I try and explain that we have been sitting here without interactions or acknowledgement from anyone and again, the server, and this time with sass, says "well, i was on my way over now, we were really busy, and if your food is late its because we are busy." -so now im getting threatened?- im unsure how to understand this. I point towards my partner who is looking for menus at the server station and say "we havent been able to order, we havent had menues yet." To be met with. An eye roll. A sigh. And then the repeated sentence, in slower speech than earlier, (probably for my benefit): "we were busy." And that point i just left. *Im aware of Dutch culture and mentality and yes, they are often outspoken, blunt, and straight to the point (qualities i appropriate) but this behavior is both unbecoming and unacceptable, especially in the service industry.* The venue (and i call it venue because i am not entirely sure what they are: a restaurant? A bar? A rave?) If its a restaurant, it feels like is trying really hard to be a bar. If its a bar, its trying really hard to be a restaurant . The decorations and details are mix n match , you have an asian (buddah?) Statue above the bar, and a tree. The bar is white and huge demanding attention, like you are in ibiza Some of the tables are tall with bar stools, other tabels are "normal", but the creme de la creme of this place is the Electro Dance/house/party music that they play at a soothing 80 dB. As stated, i dont know what this venue is, or what its trying to be, nor can i comment on the food. But what i can tell you is that they are busy, and their staff are overwhelmed putting the ownership of their frustration on its customers.

We are very disappointed with this restaurant because I have been visiting it with friends for several years, but unfortunately, there are rats running around on the outdoor terrace—not mice, but rats. You sit at the table, and there are rats running under it, which is an absolute disaster. If this is happening outside, I can only imagine what’s going on in the kitchen where they prepare the food. We visited this place yesterday, and €12 for a beer??? Seriously??? 😃😃😃 Prices like in Las Vegas, but the quality of this restaurant does not match such a price range at all. Sorry, but this was our last visit with friends. Sloterdijk and €12 for a beer… that’s quite funny and a scam for customers. There are much better, nicer, and above all, cheaper restaurants in Amsterdam—100%! As for me, never again…👎👎👎

Nice café to meet if you are traveling with several people by train, as it is within crawling distance of Sloterdijk.

We ate there for 3 days, every dish tasted very tasty. The service was also excellent, they always took food allergies & special requests into account.

Unfortunately the salad was already brown. The burger patties were no. More of a mushy mush, reminiscent of the consistency of liver sausage.

We enjoyed ourselves in this restaurant. The Caesar salad was ultra hearty, the burger meat is marinated and the fries are perfectly cooked and seasoned. The servers are very friendly and the service fast. After 2 catastrophic and expensive restaurants, we found a place that doesn't care about quantity without neglecting quality. We will come back!

Had the ribs based on great reviews. These were largely exaggerated. It was not bad food. This is not a complaint. But I certainly wouldn't be writing home about it either. Also the waiter never came back after asking him for a drink so......

Super warm and hospitable staff. The location is nicely decorated and the perfect atmosphere for drinks or dinner. Menu after my own heart with everything you could wish for. Ecstasy, delicious food and a huge plate full. Prices are very reasonable by Amsterdam standards, especially for what you get. This makes me happy! I no longer have to look for a location around Sloterdijk, I found this one!!!

Super hartelijk en gastvrij personeel. Locatie is gezellig ingericht en perfecte sfeer voor borrel of diner. Menukaart naar mijn hart met alles wat je maar kunt wensen. Extase lekker gegeten én een enorm bord vol. Prijzen zijn voor Amsterdamse begrippen zeer redelijk, zeker voor wat je krijgt. Hier word ik gelukkig van! Ik hoef niet meer op zoek naar een locatie rond sloterdijk, bij deze gevonden!!!

We came to dinner. We had starter + dessert. Hearty, good meals, reasonable prices, nice and friendly staff, very nice subdued surroundings. Well located.

Gran lugar cuando el ajetreo de Amsterdam es demasiado y solo quieres una comida muy agradable en un entorno estupendo , cerca de los Hoteles y estaciones de tren con una tripulación de personal que es educado , acogedor y atento. La hostelería es de 10 / 10 y las Costillas , , sí las costillas , perfectamente cocidas, suculentas con gran variedad de bebidas para acompañar el menú.

Great location and very friendly and fast staff. Can be a bit noisy if crowded but that’s to be expected. Had the Brave Classic Vegan burger which was delicious, I recommended it! (Special mention: get the baked potatos as a side!) Prices are fair too! Would definitely visit again.

Intentamos comer aquí el jueves por la noche 19 / 9 / 24 estaba ocupado, pero no lleno, pero dijeron que sería 2 horas, así que reservamos para el viernes por la noche, ya que nos alojamos en la carretera. El servicio no era genial nos quedamos en la entrada esperando a ser sentados, pero ningún personal tomó ninguna nota, así que tomamos asiento, no había necesidad de reservar, ya que estaba casi vacío. Como nota más positiva, la comida era buena, aunque los costos eran más altos de lo anunciado en línea.

A great place for a quick dinner. I had the chicken schnitzel, my brother the chicken satay, both for 23 euros per dinner. My chicken schnitzel was very small, I was given a second piece because the waiter also noticed this. The fries could be refilled. This was decent but very salty. The dish was fine, the chicken satay was a nice portion. The meat was tender. Price wise I thought it was quite expensive but not unexpected considering the location in Amsterdam. We ate 1 course.

Qué error, deberíamos haber venido aquí todos los días, pedí las costillas de barbacoa y quiero decir que eran tan perfectas que me las arreglé para comer la carne con un tenedor, se cayó del hueso. I regularly have lunch or dinner here. Honest products with fair prices. Wide choice also nice. Super friendly staff and always enough people on staff.

Nice tent with friendly service. Had a cheesecake with coffee and it was like eating a spatula of cake batter. Had to stop myself from ordering another piece. Nice location too and you can sit outside almost all around.

We visited this café on a rainy day, hoping to enjoy some apple pie and Chocomel. The Chocomel was served warm and tasted really good. However, when we tried to order the apple pie, we were told it was sold out for the day. This makes us suspect that they might use frozen goods, which was disappointing. Since we were waiting for a bus, we stayed for a while and kept ordering drinks. After some time, the staff asked us to leave, saying that a large group was expected soon. Strangely enough, that group never showed up, leaving us feeling like we were unfairly pushed out. Overall, the experience was quite disappointing.

¡Qué lugar tan bonito! No podría recomendarlo más. Peter y su equipo eran muy bienvenidos y serviciales. Tuvimos un almuerzo encantador (comida deliciosa) donde te hacen sentir como en casa que en el restaurante. Siempre que estemos de vuelta en Amsterdam lo estaremos visitando de nuevo.

Came across this little gem by chance set in the middle of wild planting right outside Sloterdijk station. Excellent friendly service and superb food. Great location and nice ambience, all the staff were friendly and helpful, portions were generous and everything we tried on the menu exceeded our expectations.

The service was attentive. My club sandwich looked more like a sandwich with ribbed chips on the side. Tasty in itself. My Texels Skuumkoppe had lost its foam while serving. The waiting staff made up for a lot.

Very informal, cozy café where we always have work drinks. Service is always friendly. The food is always tasty. They are even advised on trip advice. Can seriously recommend it. A bit small and therefore cozy. Really nice atmosphere too :)

Had lunch here recently when staying in a nearby hotel. The staff was friendly and I found the food to be good. I had a club sandwich which I found to be good. I would eat here again if I am ever in the area again.

Met someone for a chat and tea - very convenient location just opposite Sloterdijk station. Staff very friendly, had only tea so cannot say anything about the food. Atmosphere ok - when I approached I thought it was shut. Once inside it is fine.

Friendly & fun service. Tasty finger food. Often pleasantly busy. The only disadvantage is the acoustics. Close to the station so easy to reach.

Wonderful place for lunch, dinner or just a drink

What a disappointment this was, you come with a large group and it turns out you were double booked, there was no room for us. We had to wait and wait, we thought a table would become available soon, but nothing could be further from the truth. They had turned on some heaters in the outdoor area, it was closed, but most of us were cold and had to eat with our coats on. We also had stone cold feet because our feet were on cold pavement tiles. And of course whoever organized this couldn't do anything about it, but if it had been me I would have said come back another time when we could sit nice and warm inside. What a disappointment this was, with your coat on food, they wanted to earn extra money. And then my food came straight from the supermarket and was way too salty. And it was outrageously expensive. Everything starter 15 euros dessert 15 euros main course easily 35 euros. No, never again.

Het is daar ontzettend gezellig, zeker als Tukker met collega's af en toe een heerlijk hapje en drankje te nuttigen. Als Tukker weten ik wel wat gezelligheid is. Eigenaar is een toffe peer.

Found the place to be very welcoming. As a person with Gluten Intolerance, I was able to speak to the Chef/Owner and he was able to come up with a meal for myself and my wife. Highly recommend because it's not everyday you find a business to go to so much effort to be accomadating. Thank you Peter.

Friendly pleasant and convenient

Mitten zwischen Blumen mit Blick auf den gläsernen Bahnhof und das bei Sonnenuntegang und wirklich wirklich leckerem Essen. Der Service noch ein bisschen unroutiniert aber super freundlich. Der Besuch war wirklich toll. Und die dirty Fries (bacon cheese) small waren völlig ausreichend für mich als kleines Abendessen.
