Brasserie Hoekenrode in Bijlmer Centrum (D,F,H)

The food was terrible. The burger seemed like it had been reheated, which was evident from the very dry cheese, and the bun was cold and untoasted straight from the packaging. At least it arrived quickly—so quickly, in fact, that our drinks took twice as long, and the place wasn't very busy.

We had reserved for 12 o'clock and were there on time. Our order was taken quickly, but we had to wait a good 50 to 55 minutes for our food (a salad and a panini). We had tickets for a concert at 1:30 PM, which meant we only had 10 minutes to wolf down our food. Absolutely ridiculous!! After asking three times, nothing came; it was only when we said we didn't want the food anymore that it arrived. However, the chicken on the salad was cold, and the panini with mozzarella was cold too. So, all in all, we had to pay €45 for worthless food.

We ordered a starter and a main course. The main course was already on the table while we had just started on the starter. Before the neighbors had finished laughing, the same thing happened to them. The food itself was decent. The rump steaks were fine, but the salad was tasteless and lacked dressing. The fact that the starter and main course arrived almost at the same time, on multiple tables, ruined the experience for us.

What a bizarre experience this was. The food was on the table within literally 2 minutes. We had both ordered “Fish & Chips.” This was – by far – the worst I have ever eaten. Even the fries were rancid. Our drinks (just 2 beers) didn't arrive until 10 minutes later. When we sat down, we really had to actively ask the staff (just stand up and tap them) for the menu. In short: the service and quality of the food were far below par. A shame.

30 euros for a pitcher of sangria that came from a carton with 4 ice cubes spread across 1.8 liters. Prices are not listed on the menu. This place is an absolute scam.

If you want to pay 7.50 for a Coke Zero from a bottle with lots of ice, then you've come to the right place! That's the reason there's no drinks menu. Coffee 4.50. It's just a scam.

Charged €10 for a LEMONADE because they make a “mocktail” and “shake it”. Food was the worst quality food I have had in YEARS. Pasta was disgusting, fries were poor quality, burger was expensive and nothing special. Charged for the gin and the tonic in a gin&tonic. Came out more expensive than a normal cocktail. Service was very poor. Unacceptable. Do not go here.

Horrible service, they over charged the hell out of our group. They charged us for the toic and gin separately, over 10 ero for a lemonade. The food quality was very poor. The chicken was cross contaminated with the fish. Would not come again

Don't get the pesto, the chicken tasted off. The other food was ok, fries and salad aren't the best. Poor service aswell tried to call over the waiter while I watched him sit on his phone and completely miss me and walk away. Would not come again. Over priced for what it is

Some of the worst pasta and paninis I’ve ever had in my life. There was no pesto in the “pesto pasta”. It tasted like milk and noodles. The chicken was poor quality and felt gummy. No prices on the drink menu, then charge you crazy prices. Absolutely not worth it, go somewhere else.

That crazy friend of mine dropped 5 out of 6 beers, but we still got 6 new beers for free. Living legends!

Very long wait. The place is taking on far too many customers, causing everyone to wait. They are running around like crazy... everyone wanted a quick bite to eat before a concert; they don't seem set up for that.

Terrible, the food was truly awful. The waiter threw our glasses and cutlery at our heads. It was impossible to swallow a single bite. And he couldn't speak English. The waiters are really unfriendly. I strongly advise against going there. They didn't even clear our plates; there were seven of us, and every single dish was truly terrible. Warning 🚨🚨🚨

The waiter made us set the table ourselves, and what's more, the salads, burgers, pasta, and omelets were all inedible. Avoid at all costs!! If we could have given zero stars, we would have.

Very quiet inside, but this was a Monday afternoon. Disappointed with the "kalfskroketten", not too bad but definitely had much better quality almost everywhere else.

Terrible! Not even worth 1 star. Long wait, lukewarm Aperol Spritz—I mean lemonade, because there was nothing in it in terms of alcohol or ice. Lukewarm fries and nachos that were super chemical. Definitely don't go there. Skip it and just go to FEBO. 100x better. A real waste of money. A lot of money!

The square and terraces are full due to the first evening of the Toppers. But we are soon shown to a table. The atmosphere is cozy and the service is prompt. Our dishes arrive quickly and are very tasty and fresh. We share a salami pizza and a tuna salad, both truly delicious. Coffee to finish, and we are well-equipped for the evening.

We paid 33 euros for 2 soft drinks, nachos, and fries. The fries just came out of a bag, which isn't a problem in itself, but then don't charge so much for them. The nachos looked like a bag that had just been dumped on the plate with some slices of cheddar on top and tasted like nothing at all. Our drinks arrived already poured into glasses and the fizz had already gone out. I'm used to the hospitality industry where you just get a bottle and can pour it yourself. My girlfriend also asked for mint and lemon and got 2 melted ice cubes. We would have been better off going to a snack bar.

Food was really good! I loved the snitchzel, I thought it was too expensive at the start but it included a side of chips, salad and 2 big pieces of breaded chicken, so the price was fair. Staff was really nice too ☺️

SCAM: We had to pay 22.50 euros for 1 cola, 1 iced tea, and 1 Sprite, the powdered versions. There are no prices on the menu.

Unfortunately, we are disappointed with our visit to Brasserie Hoekenrode. Outside, there was a sign offering a half-liter of beer for €5.50 and a small beer for €3. Based on that, we placed our order. We also asked if this promotional price was indeed available. We were told that this only applied to Heineken. However, it was not mentioned that the promotion was apparently only valid between 17:00 and 20:00. It only became apparent afterwards that this price was time-limited. Ultimately, we had to pay €8.25 per half-liter, which is a significant difference from the price displayed outside. This should have been clearly communicated when ordering, especially since we explicitly asked about it. As a result, it felt misleading in hindsight and left our visit with an unpleasant aftertaste.

Today I was there and also last year their food was really good. I will suggest to go there if you want good food.peoples are really friendly.

I ordered pasta carbonara. The pasta was overcooked and the "sause" tasted really bad. I would not be surprised if it came from a package. The service was ok at first, but when I told the waiter about the food, he just told me that many people like this dish 🙈 he didn't offer anything else and charged us full price. Sorry to say, I don't recommend this place. I would rather go to Marmaris next door.

My girlfriend and I came here for a nice bite to eat. We ordered nachos for 12.50 euros, but the nachos were very soggy and not tasty. Additionally, we received 3 sauces in a small bowl, which was far too little. And an iced green tea for 7.40 euros is ridiculous. When I pointed this out to the hostess, she just said: "Yes, I just work here and I can't do anything about it." I understand that, but then get a manager over, because this was too bizarre. Don't come here!

A hamburger for 21.50. Nothing wrong with that in itself, but it is when it's a pre-cooked burger that went into the deep fryer. Furthermore, having the nerve to charge 7.50 for a Coke in a greasy spoon like this.

Ordered 300g of rump steak. Got 2 tiny pieces. Either it lost 100g in water during the cooking or I got served 200g. I asked for medium, the second steak was over cooked and tasted funny that i couldnt eat. I complained to the waiter, i got 10% discount but that's it. I had stomachache the whole night following the dinner. Never going back there.

It's a nice restaurant, but the seating is way too close together. On Saturday, we were seated about a foot away from our "neighbors." Tables had to be moved whenever someone needed to use the restroom. It felt like they were trying to cram as many people into the restaurant as possible. They started cleaning and tidying up during dessert.

Unfortunately, I got very ill after eating the shrimp. Because of this, we couldn't attend the concert we were in Amsterdam for.

Prices for drinks are not shown in the menu. The quantity of the sangria was also not as specified in the menu. They say 1.8L but they bring you 1.5L and charge you a lot for it. For food they have the prices shown, drinks are missing. Why would that be ? - when asked, waiters got really confused and tried to bring all sort of lame excuses. Not a nice experience anymore here.

Not worth it. Cheap qualify food and low quality staff. Asking for a Wiener melange/hot chocolate with a shot of espresso, then they arrive with hot chocolate and whipcream and a separate espresso. This is all they have she said. And paying 8,50 🥲. Oh an plastic single use container for dipping sauce... No thank you total 19.25€

A visit to the Ziggo Dome is a must for us, as is a visit to Hoekenrode. The food is always delicious, and the staff is friendly. The only downside is that when you order a drink, you automatically get a large soft drink, which I personally find quite expensive.

I was here on a day when Ajax was playing a home game, so the restaurant was quite busy. The service was chaotic. Because several people could take your order, and then others had to bring it, no one had a clear overview. There were four of us and we were given three drinks... the last drink we only received after asking three times. No idea why the complete order couldn't be brought to the table. The food was mediocre; we had three spare ribs and one burger. The spare ribs were actually just not good: the membrane hadn't been removed. As a result, you couldn't separate the ribs properly. The membrane was edible but not tasty, so you'd want to separate it before eating. I would never order spare ribs here again. The atmosphere: oh, it was a busy evening. Let's say 'lively,' but this isn't the place to go if you want to chat with your friends. Next time, I'll look for a different restaurant in the area.

Good food, but no prices on the drink chain; 7.50 euros for a coke is quite expensive. We stayed at the hotel next door, where there were flyers for a 10% discount. However, these were only valid when there were no events. It wasn't mentioned on the flyer, so it was almost never valid. We called the manager, but nothing was done. Disappointing.😱😒

Made a reservation at Hoekenrode. Without consulting us, they placed us at Zofusion, also theirs. Confusion would be a better name. What a disorganized mess. Drinks took ages. Then the wrong food order. The other three were good, but the Angus burger was lukewarm. When the three of us finished eating, the order for number four and the fries finally arrived. We had to ask for compensation ourselves, but in the end, we got free fries. The orders of neighboring tables were also wrong. Sent an email with this story. No response.

Beer glasses were not cleaned properly, all 3 of us received dead beer in which you could still taste the cleaning agent, a bit of a shame for the price, we did not stay to eat

We ate here before a concert at the Ziggo Dome. As expected, it was quite busy, but that didn't detract from the quality of the food or the service, both of which were excellent. The staff remained friendly and attentive, and the food was served quickly and with excellent care. In short: highly recommended for a meal before a concert!

This is one of my favorite "end of the day" spots, but I do like their steaks as well! You ask "rare", you get rare. Their cook knows his business. Recommended!

Absolute worst place I have been to. 1. There are no proces on drinks 2. I paid 10€ for what supposed to be a fresh squeezed lemonade The lemonade was super sweet and made out of syrup and a few cuts of lemon… After extended discussion with the stuff and manager, we got offered Coca Cola , but not a refund.

The food is a complete disgrace; you pay €20 for an extremely bad burger with a cold bun and a frozen patty. The fries are mediocre, edible, but you'd expect more for the price. The mayo that came with it had been sitting on other plates for a long time (I assume), as a yellow layer had formed on the white mayo. The drinks came in an extremely small glass, which is a disgrace for these prices. The ambiance is nice and modern at first glance, but upon closer inspection, you can see a lot of dirt on the "clean" tables. The glasses weren't very clean either, and there are lots of stains on the tables and napkins. The only thing that could be considered acceptable is the service. The staff were quite friendly, but again, very unprofessional for the price. I would advise anyone considering eating at this place to stay away, as the price-performance ratio is appalling. Go to McDonald's or Burger King instead; there you know what you're getting, and at a better price, too.

Rip-off! After the concert, I quickly stopped for a drink on the way back to the car. There were no prices listed anywhere, and I had to pay for three of those fake sodas for a total of €22.50! As far as I know, I wasn't at the Red Café in St. Tropez. I won't be going there again.

Great food. Eating out in Amsterdam is a bit unusual; you're always spoken to in English. The staff is very friendly. If it's busy, you'll be seated right next to other diners. It gets especially crowded during concerts.

We ended up here for a concert. Food really great. Don't think too hard, just eat well. Service was also great. They came by several times to see if everything was okay or if we needed anything. After the concert we went back for a drink. Definitely recommended. Spacious terrace too!

Best place for quick diner before movie, concert or event around arena. Easy access from public transportation as well.

I have been there on Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. The staff is incredibly friendly and work hard. Even when it is busy they remain friendly. However, when it is very busy with events you have to wait a long time, and they do not have time to clear the tables. On a large terrace it is not enough if two people take the orders. The atmosphere remains good among each other. I also come there for the staff. Because I come there often I also try to reassure the guests that it is not normally the case that you have to wait long. Also book in advance with events if you come with several people. It is not the staff's fault. They try to please everyone. The cocktails are delicious and the food is fine.
