I spontaneously went out for dinner with a friend on Monday evening. It turned out there was a discount on the sirloin, so I ordered the large one. It was really well prepared, good flavor, good preparation. The dessert was a fluffy tiramisu, but I actually thought it was just average. But tasty nonetheless. Overall, this place has really improved.

However, there is a nice waitress who is helpful and friendly. A (chef) cook who thinks he's being clever by putting tournedos on the menu but uses tenderloin / sirloin for it instead; a bit of a shame, but you don't mess with a butcher. This is the second time I've been ripped off (I thought I'd give it another try after a year), but after this time, I won't be coming back to this place. Absolutely no stars for this shack!

A lovely brasserie with a wide selection of food and drinks. The staff is friendly and helpful. There's seating both inside and outside. This location is just a stone's throw from Cool, La Brocca, and the cinema.

Yesterday afternoon, I sat on the terrace with my girlfriend for a while. We ordered an IPA, rosé, and a flatbread rosé. Instead of the Pinot Grigio rosé, a white Pinot Grigio was brought. When we pointed this out, we received plenty of apologies and a rosé was brought immediately. Very friendly and attentive staff. Flatbread is highly recommended with drinks. Nice relaxed ambiance and nicely decorated. We will definitely come back here again!

The order was taken incorrectly. New food arrived which was actually tasty. They asked an enormous number of times if it was tasty, which is annoying. The waitress was not really friendly at first. She was okay later on, but that was more due to the incorrect order. Food and drinks were placed on the table indifferently. Cutlery was just slammed onto the table in a tin.

Had a very nice experience, great atmosphere, good service, and the management is top-notch! A tip for you: make your terrace smoke-free! Smoking is really no longer acceptable when someone is enjoying a meal next to you or whatever.

Food was very good, good service

Unfortunately, the food had an off-taste that recurred in both dishes. This may be because the same pan was used for different dishes, which affected the flavor. I rate the main course a 6. The service, on the other hand, was friendly and polite, for which I give an 8.

We were here on Easter Sunday with family for lunch. Unfortunately, we found the lunch disappointing. Hot meat = dry bun, slice of chicken breast with peanut sauce?!?! Burrata sandwich = bun with 20 tomatoes and burrata. In short, bad: dry, stale buns and fillings. The service is nice. A shame.

Nice place with friendly and efficient service. For us, the price-quality ratio was not right. Portions were more than sufficient, which is certainly a plus. However, the steak was quite tough and on the chewy side for us.

Unfortunately, things aren't improving. I've been here many times, but the staff is getting younger and younger, and the service is getting worse, unfortunately. We ate here on a Friday in early February at 5:30 PM to catch the 8:15 PM theater in Cool. It was a bit of a squeeze, by the way! The sandwich was forgotten, and wine wasn't poured. The salmon starter was disappointing. The steak was overcooked. But the highlight was the affogato, which I specifically asked beforehand if it could be decaf. "Sure, no problem," the young lady said. I really can't have caffeine after midnight, otherwise I don't sleep and have heart palpitations, so that went horribly wrong. It was indeed an affogato with a regular espresso in it, so I only got two hours of sleep that night. I lay awake until 5:00 AM. When I emailed the restaurant about it, I didn't even get a response at first. After several emails, Danique responded, and she questioned whether it had really gone wrong! It was "just an assumption." Well, there was absolutely no doubt about it!! Disgraceful. She did, however, say they would be more careful in the future... Avoid this restaurant. There are better restaurants in Heerhugowaard!

When we arrived, we were immediately asked if we were going to the theater later that evening. We confirmed we were. Eating at 6:15 PM and being at Cool by 8:15 PM should be perfectly manageable, you'd think. Think again, at 7:45 PM we finally received our main course after complaining about it. Dessert was out of the question, but the waitress did recommend the three-course menu because it was cheaper than ordering a main course separately. Apologies were given, but no goodwill, no discount, so we paid with some surprise. It's a shame that if the right question is asked upon arrival, you still manage to ignore it. Two hours for three courses should be more than enough. The food was otherwise mediocre, the starters were okay. The steak was rock hard, and fries with their skins on don't go well with steak and fries. My wife was bored stiff by the boring pasta. The atmosphere on the left side of the restaurant is as it should be. The right side looks more like a wooden football clubhouse/shack. The kitchen extractor fan clearly isn't working properly, judging by the overwhelming food odor in the restaurant. We could have put our clothes in the wash when we got home. It felt like we'd been to a wok restaurant. Long story short, not a positive experience.

Great food and drinks, super fun

Had a delicious lunch. Friendly service, nice people. The food was also delicious. I've also since had a fantastic three-course dinner, definitely worth it.

We'd previously had a great lunch there, but dinner was rather disappointing. The steak seemed more like a reheated piece of meat, certainly not the quality you'd expect and definitely not grilled. The dessert (tiramisu) was, to put it mildly, a rather mediocre ending. But all praise goes to the staff; they were very attentive, hospitable, and helpful. A big thumbs-up for the service staff.

Had a wonderful meal with a large group, even during the Christmas rush. Lunch here is always a pleasure too.

Good place to eat with colleagues

Based on positive experiences in the past, we visited this restaurant again. Unfortunately, this time the service was a big disappointment. It's possible this lady had a bad Christmas. We asked if we could order poffertjes or pancakes for the children. The answer was not only negative, but was given in a particularly arrogant and unfriendly tone, especially in front of the children. If something isn't possible, it is, of course, possible, but the way this was presented was completely unprofessional and unnecessarily rude. That doesn't fit a restaurant where hospitality should be paramount. A shame, because the service is precisely what made this restaurant so enjoyable in the past. For us, that's why we won't be returning anytime soon.

I didn't like the "stew" dish; the gravy was very thin, and half of the meat had a lot of fat in it. The potatoes were soaked with gravy. We had to ask twice where one children's dish was. The staff did their best, but didn't communicate well, so we had to ask twice for our main course.

It's a shame the €12 pasta deal was still on the website, even though it was no longer valid. We felt a bit ripped off.

I had a delicious meal with overcooked egg yolks from the fried egg sandwich. But you have to like that; I prefer the yolks runny. Animal-friendly.

I always feel at home in these kinds of restaurants; there's a relaxed, homey atmosphere, and if you sit on the terrace, you have a great view of everything that's passing by. The most important thing, of course, is the food. I ordered the burger, and it was excellent! The fries always look rather meager in that small bowl; I prefer the whole dish to be served differently. But ultimately, it's all about the taste, and this was excellent. The service was better than I've been used to in other restaurants. The balance between attentiveness and quietness was just right, and because I was sitting with English guests, they switched to English without any problems. It seems obvious, but sometimes, as the only Dutch person, you're treated as if you're the representative of the group. But not in this case; everyone was very respectful. And after our meal, we were politely asked about our experiences, and it felt like we were being taken into account. Overall, a very good experience: a beautiful restaurant, good atmosphere, and good food. Highly recommended!

Congratulations on your 10th anniversary 🥳The decor has a wonderful industrial feel! We arrived between the closing time of lunch and the start of dinner. But we were able to sit comfortably and order a drink and a bread platter, while the staff were still enjoying their meal. Afterward, we enjoyed the birthday menu. I had the caprese 🍅 bruschetta and my husband the carpaccio. The pasta Mary me shrimp was delicious, filled with succulent prawns and fresh spinach in a delicious cream cheese sauce. Dessert wasn't really on our plate, but we opted for the affogato (we asked for one scoop of ice cream instead of two). The icing on the cake was a delicious Moscow mule to round off the evening. We've been spoiled at De Notaris at home, but this brasserie definitely falls into that category: we'll definitely be back when we're in the area. Too windy to enjoy the terrace outside, but we enjoyed the wonderful summer sounds inside🎵 🌞 Day 2: In the evening, we went inside for a cup of tea. It turned into something more 😁

Appetizers with two glasses of wine on the terrace. The appetizers were delicious, but the Chardonnay was really not good.

We went there spontaneously because we wanted something to eat. They communicated well in German and English. The service was quick, as were the drinks. The menu, with its various offerings, was explained to us. We initially sat outside, but then went inside because of a thunderstorm and were able to choose a table there. The food was very tasty and well prepared. I had the steak – it was medium rare and very tender. The fries were great, and it came with a small salad. The carbonara and the burger my son, daughter, and husband had were also very good. Drinks were quickly refilled upon request. Excellent service! I would definitely recommend it!

We always came here for the delicious pizza. On our anniversary we came here again for a delicious pizza and you wouldn't guess, but the pizzas had suddenly disappeared from the menu. After discussing this with the staff, it turns out that there are too few kitchen staff to make pizzas. Too bad!!! Several people have already left this evening because the delicious pizzas were not offered. In the meantime, a long time has passed and unfortunately they still haven't been able to find a pizza chef? Too bad!

We had a great meal here. The bread was a bit dry, but otherwise it was good. Service was friendly, but a bit slow. I personally think the range of places to eat in Heerhugowaard is very minimal and this is one of the better places to go.

Don't order burrata salad: you get: a bowl of lettuce - unripe tomatoes - sun-dried tomatoes (not many) and a burrata and a piece of toast the size of a cracker. Not a pine nut to be seen, no pesto or ham. I reported it, but they don't do anything about it. The waiter agreed with me. It all seems very unprofessional. Also, there were things on the receipt twice, that were only ordered once (including a main course!). So check the receipt carefully!

Had some drinks but computer can’t handle a move of tables and were confronted with multiple checks. Also final round was denied while it was 20 min to close. Could be more flexible.

Food very mediocre. The devilish shrimps are not devilish, the stew was inedible; not cooked enough, watery, no taste. Too bad because we have had excellent food several times before

Casual atmosphere, nice music at the right volume, comfortable chairs, spacious and attractively decorated inside. Thoughtful service with kids is always a plus, so this place gets 5 stars from us!

Delicious tuna sandwich! Very attentive service

Enkele jaren hier niet geweest en gisteren behoorlijk teleurgesteld. Restaurant is enorm groot geworden maar heeft schijnbaar net zoveel personeel de toiletten als voor de verbouwing. Personeel ook erg ongeïnteresseerd. Het eten was al net zo inspiratieloos. Ik had stoof, deze was waterig, smakeloos en de grote homp vlees droog van binnen en er waren nog wat smaakloze aardappeltjes in gegooid. Eén flauwe brij. We waren met een groep van 13 waarbij 3 bestelling fout uit de keuken kwamen, afgaande op de reactie van de bediening was dat onze schuld. Ik geloof niet dat ik nog eens terug kom. Ook was het heel erg benauwd in het restaurant.

Nice terrace. Nice employees, customer friendly. I notice that Grolsch is served in this region. That is not self-evident to me. They also have cheerful glasses (eyewink).

Food was reasonable, it was better in the first years. It took too long, 2 hours, for the main course. And many people smoking on the terrace. Shame.

Food was tasty, but we had to wait far too long. We only received our starter after an hour and the main course also took a very long time, so we won't be going back so quickly.

Het eten was redelijk en de deal was prima geprijsd. Beetje jammer dat wanneer een medewerker een volledig glas drinken in je schoot stoot, je alleen een sorry krijgt. Kan gebeuren en ik ben zeker niet boos geworden. Bij het afrekenen hier iets van gezegd waarna er werd gezegd ‘er is toch sorry gezegd’. Een nieuw glas drinken van de zaak o.i.d zou de hele avond met een natte broek zitten dragelijke hebben gemaakt. Voor ons gelijk de laatste keer.

Shameful place, had to wait 2 hours for the main course.

Voorheen was t erg lekker hier. Nu andere kaart? Vorige keer karige tonijn salade. Nu clubsandwich met zacht brood, teveel tomaat, zacht spek en geen eitje of komkommer of sla oid. Helaas geen ijzer meer voor mij. 15 euro voor 3 zachte boterhammen met kaas en ham en heel veel tomaat.

Quality of food is fine. The service is done too much by people without catering experience. In our case the order was forgotten. It can happen, but if you see a table where nothing has happened for 45 minutes, you can intervene yourself instead of waiting for someone to complain. This caused us to have a problem with an appointment that evening. What was supposed to be a pleasant evening out for dinner with the family quickly turned into something to eat.

Na de begroeting was het lastig om hun aandacht te krijgen; ze keken letterlijk over ons heen. Als we iets vroegen en ze ons niet verstonden, kregen we alleen een kort "huh?". Daarnaast werd het bestek op tafel gelegd terwijl het eetgedeelte werd vastgehouden, wat niet erg hygiënisch is. Toen ik vroeg naar ingrediënten die wel op mijn broodje zaten maar niet op de kaart stonden, werd ik niet serieus genomen. Volgens hen was dat namelijk heel normaal!

We have already had a bad experience during dinner. We tried it now for lunch..My experience at this restaurant was disappointing. We came with my toddler for lunch, but unfortunately the service was very disappointing. Firstly, our order was not taken immediately, and we had to wait a long time before we were helped at all. It was particularly frustrating to see that people who came in after us received their orders much earlier. After waiting 45 minutes I decided to ask where our food was, and suddenly the food arrived. At checkout, items were still charged that were not for us plus no response/explanation to my complaint about the service. All in all not professional and service oriented. Unfortunately I won't be coming back here again and I can't recommend this restaurant for lunch or dinner, especially not with hungry kids.

Very bad service unfortunately. The 5 of us wanted to have a bite to eat here. After the drinks were ordered and served at our table, we never saw anyone to take our food order. We went to eat somewhere else. Missed opportunity.

Nice place for a snack and drink

So what can an "eatery" do from 5 stars to 2 in a short time? Actually our regular place, but after the last few months it's over. Everything has gone downhill since their new policy. Now that even the staff does not have the motivation, it is really alarm phase 1 for the "new" owner. Wake up and make your customers care again.

De steak was niets op aan te merken, alleen bij "steak frites" verwacht je geen tapas-schaaltje met stompjes friet. Dat kan veel beter...zorgt voor een "ik ben weer eens belazerd" gevoel, nergens voor nodig.

It was the first time at Ijzer for us, but also the last time. We made a reservation in advance because we had small children, and it took a very long time for our food to arrive. We were still waiting for our main course while a table next to us that came in 45 minutes later had already finished several courses and had already left. In addition, water is drained through pipes from the ceiling, which continuously dripped onto us and onto our plates. We indicated this and they already knew about it. And yet they let you stay there... The kids wanted pizza, several choices could be seen on the site. Once in the restaurant there were no pizzas, not as nice as it appears on the site! When asking if everything was satisfactory, this was indicated at checkout, but nothing was done about it. In short, not very good service, we will not come again.

Ga even gezellig met de buurvrouw koffiedrinken en een gebakje eten. Maar nu komt het, voor 1 gebakje betaal je 8€ dus we waren met z,n tweeën dus 25€ inclusief de koffie. De eigenaar moet eens goed opletten waar hij mee bezig is, mijn vrouw komt er ieder geval niet meer!, in dit 5 sterrenrestaurant! . Dus mensen pas op .

Looks like a nice meal. Carpaccio sandwich had little taste. And if we ordered a club sandwich, the menu says it comes with chicken, and we get a slice of chicken fillet for 15 euros.

We have been coming to IJzer for years, a super nice place. Only the pizzas that were always great are no longer there and the menu has never changed. And I think there is also a different chef because the quality was also a lot less, too bad! So we hope for improvement soon. Done with Iron for now.

Bad Christmas dinner steak tough...50 euros per person not worth it...mothers choked on a piece of steak everyone was shocked except the manager who just came with the bill while everyone was off the menu and couldn't eat another bite...better more empathy for your customers and do something about the complaints, we are probably not the only ones who found the steak tough! So see you never again😪

Hot meat ciabatta sandwich. There was almost no warm meat to be seen on the weak bun, nor was the peanut sauce. Ciabatta was limp, not nice and crunchy. The fries were not cooked through. All food was lukewarm. Such a shame, a disappointing experience.

Good staff who know what they are doing. The tournedos was wonderfully tender, as was the satay. They let you enjoy the food in peace, you are not asked whether it tastes good or whether you want something to drink, but they know how to come by at the right time. In short, an excellent restaurant!!! We will definitely come back here for Christmas dinner!

Ging met twee vriendinnen lunchen, heerlijk gegeten zeker aanrader. Personeel was ook heel erg vriendelijk. Eten vers, prijs is prima, laatste ging mij zoon met tante daar lunchen,( ze kent de eigenaars broer) ik zei wat leuk, toen zei ze ik ga niet eten als ik niet weet dat het lekker eten is. 😂😂

Tonight we wanted something to eat. We were early but still wanted a main course and then continue. We had not made a reservation but there was plenty of room. When we were seated we ordered a (too pricey) drink and asked about the menu. It took a very long time before we received it. Only when we asked for it again. When we had made our choice, all the staff walked past us and again it took a very long time. When we finished our drinks, no one had come to take our order. We then decided to pay and leave. We did not have the customer-is-king feeling and felt ignored as customers. It is not the first bad experience for us at IJzer. This will also be the last time for us. Too bad.

12-10-2024 had lunch again. 30-7-2024 sat on the terrace with a smooth and a bread board, it was absolutely great, almost 27 degrees. February 5, 2023, dinner with 5 people and ambitions were great 👌 You can eat well here 8-9-2022 we had a delicious meal here: a fillet of sea bass, a delicious chicken shawarma pizza and a salmon salad without grapefruit and a delicious dessert
