Brasserie Jules in Rotterdam Centrum

Weekend away in Rotterdam. Thought I'd have a nice meal there. Closed Friday afternoon. Closed Saturday afternoon too. The website lists the times it is supposed to be open.

Had a good meal, super friendly staff and beautiful location, definitely recommended!

Today, I had a lovely lunch and drinks with my girlfriends at Brasserie Jules. We had a great time! 🥂 The service was incredibly friendly, sweet, and hospitable, making us feel welcome right away. It was a wonderful afternoon and definitely recommended for a nice lunch or a drink! We will definitely be back!!

Half of the menu was unavailable, and it took forever for the food to be served. The onion soup was unfortunately a pool of salt. The carpaccio was good, though. We received two free drinks for the long wait. All in all, it wasn't worth the money. Nice location, but I would not recommend Brasserie Jules.

The food was fairly average overall. We ordered 3 courses, but several of our first choices were unfortunately unavailable. The French onion soup was sold out, so I opted for the fish soup instead. I was expecting something more like a bouillabaisse, but it contained no pieces of fish and was more of a seafood bisque. A more accurate description would have been helpful. For the main course, I had the prawns. They did not have much flavour on their own, although the garlic sauce served on the side was very garlicky. The accompanying baby potatoes had clearly been over-salted, while the green beans were fine. The steak & frites was cooked perfectly medium rare, but the steak itself was not seasoned, so it needed plenty of salt and pepper. The fries were fairly standard frozen fries rather than freshly cut. The mayonnaise, however, was pleasantly tangy. We had hoped to order the tarte tatin for dessert, but that was also sold out. Instead, we chose the crème brûlée and the chocolate mousse. The crème brûlée was disappointing, while the chocolate mousse was good. It would have been even better without the cherry sauce. Both desserts were garnished with strawberries that looked past their best. The staff were friendly throughout, although they seemed a little inexperienced at times.

We ate here yesterday for the first and last time. We chose the tapas dishes and found more than half of what we ordered to be unappetizing and tasteless. The cola was good.

Ordered Eggs Benedict but it wasn't complete; it was missing the chives, which would have really finished it. Suddenly had to speak English; aren't we in the Netherlands? And wrong orders brought to the table multiple times; surely service isn't that difficult…

Lunch was okay. We had to wait a long time. There was a problem in the kitchen and it was noticeable. The staff did their best but it didn't really help.

First of all, the food was super tasty! We had the steak sandwich with a glass of wine. The only thing was how long we had to wait for our food; I fully understand that the waitresses are busy, but it could be a bit better.

Not worth repeating. The risk of Social Deal? The place was run by a bunch of young people who prioritized the music over the clientele. Despite the few guests, they were mostly preoccupied with themselves and the acquaintances who dropped by. The beatbox from the open kitchen dominated the whole scene and did not provide a pleasant ending after a great theater performance.

The food is of good quality. The staff is extremely friendly and very helpful.

A restaurant run by young people. It lacked real energy and the food was mediocre. Some dishes on the small menu were already sold out, so we had even less choice.

We came here for dinner. The staff was friendly and helpful. We ordered the chicken thigh and steak frites. Initially, it took a very long time for us to receive it, even though there were only two other people in the entire restaurant. Additionally, my steak was cold. After pointing this out, I asked for a carpaccio, as that is quick to prepare. I received that within 2 minutes as well. The carpaccio I received was brown and not red, as it should be. So, I didn't eat it. They only charged us for the chicken and drinks. This restaurant is absolutely not recommended.

Crazy fatty food… felt sick after it all day . Fries was sooo crazy crunchy and not in a good way . Table next to me had also super salty fries . No cutlery given when ordering burgers and fries . On tables also no napkins . Over priced bad quality food place . Service could be faster .

Well, after waiting 20 minutes, I just went somewhere else for a drink. The staff didn't feel like providing service.

Poor service, food is very mediocre and expensive for what you get. Not recommended. The toasted sandwiches from home are more luxurious than what you get here. The waiting time before anything is served is ridiculously long, even though the terrace is quite empty.

Lovely terrace bathed in sunshine after an afternoon of shopping. It was very busy, but luckily we found a spot; tasty lunch, good beers on tap.

This is more of a message to the owner than the employees. The food is fine, nothing special... though a bit overpriced. I had a toasted sandwich, which looked different online than in real life... it looked pretty gross but tasted okay. The service is just friendly, only they are understaffed; it took a very long time before we were served. I understand that staff is expensive, but then make your terrace smaller; apparently, you can't handle a terrace that big. As compensation, we got the drinks for free, and that is good service.

A very nice place with a beautiful sun terrace. We had a wonderful time sitting outside. You don't see it immediately, but the interior is also a lovely restaurant where you can sit comfortably. Very friendly staff. Highly recommended!

We came for a drink on the terrace, and unfortunately, we can't recommend this place, despite its good location. We asked for the menu twice after arriving a little while ago... three employees were standing around chatting in front of the entrance while we waited. Our white wines were served in freshly dipped beer glasses... A mediocre experience.

We had a wonderful tasting last night at a brasserie with a great atmosphere and a friendly atmosphere. The service was excellent. Compliments!

Very atmospheric both inside and out. A lovely large terrace, heated and covered. Great for coffee, sandwiches, and wine. Inside, the atmosphere is warm, but unfortunately, we didn't have lunch due to the overpowering smell of deep-frying oil. A shame. The service is excellent.

We came here for lunch on Friday, and the experience was terrible. The service was poor, the prices were far too high for the quality of the food and drinks, and the staff seemed indifferent. We ordered one iced coffee and a fresh juice. It took about 20 minutes before we received them. I paid €7 for a juice that was served in a tiny glass and clearly came from a carton. For food, we ordered a club sandwich and a toasted sandwich with a fried egg. First, one of the servers accidentally dropped our food, which meant we had to wait even longer. Mistakes happen, and that in itself wasn’t a problem, she was polite and apologized sincerely. But when our food finally arrived, we were extremely disappointed. My “club sandwich” was just two slices of bread with mustard, a thin slice of chicken, and some lettuce. Definitely not what you’d expect for €14. The toasted sandwich with fried egg tasted like plastic; the cheese wasn’t melted, and the egg was completely overcooked. What bothered me most was that, after the delay caused by the dropped food, they didn’t even try to make up for it. Instead, they served something that felt rushed and careless. Later, our waitress came by to ask if everything was okay. We told her about our experience, and she genuinely seemed sorry. She said she would inform her manager, but he clearly couldn’t care less, and nothing was done about it. Overall, a really disappointing experience. I would strongly advise everyone to stay as far away from this place as possible.

The worst Caesar salad I've ever had! I asked beforehand whether the crispy chicken was thigh or fillet. The explanation was "chicken schnitzel in strips." Little gem lettuce on a plate, with indefinable chunks (but definitely not chicken) and lots of croutons, that was it for 17 euros... SERIOUSLY?... No Parmesan cheese or hard-boiled egg, and no response to my comment about the chicken. Absolutely terrible!

I visited this restaurant frequently for their famous risotto, however at some point they started serving me undercooked rice and yet each time I gave the place another chance. Unfortunately, the risotto only got worse and the stuff is not helpful at all:(

A lovely brasserie located in the heart of Rotterdam. We enjoyed a delicious wine and matching refined dishes in the beautiful sunshine. We received excellent service from Daan, what a friendly and elegant maître d' 😘

Enjoyed a drink and a drink in the sunshine! We were helped quickly by Daan. Even though the terrace was full, he came by every now and then to chat with us and check if everything was still to our liking. The apple rolls and bitterballen tasted absolutely delicious in the sunshine. Definitely recommended; we'll be back next time.

I go there for drinks at least once a week. The tables aren't cleaned. Today I went again and asked a cleaner to clean the table because it was dirty, and it turns out it's never done at all. You see other tables never get cleaned. It's a shame.

I had to wait a very long time for my coffee, and my friend didn't get any sugar. Then, by the time I got my sugar, the coffee had become iced coffee.

Food was ok, but the atmosphere was really bad: garbage on the terrace everywhere (McDonald's trash that they did not remove can also see a bit in the pic but there was much more), the terrace looked like they did not clean it for a few months. I asked the waiter if he likes what he sees and he said it was because of other people leaving trash behind. C'mon, when you open your terrace to customers, you don't look around? I don't care who's fault it is, your place should be at least clean. Too bad we already ordered drinks, otherwise would have left.

We had a lovely time at Brasserie Jules. The food was outstanding, especially the gambas, which were marinated in the most delicious sauce (honestly, to die for!). We also tried the salmon on mini pancakes and the brioche with herb butter, both beautifully presented and full of flavour. The snacks were excellent too, and I’d happily return just for the food. The terrace seating is perfectly located right in the heart of the city, ideal for people watching on a sunny day. The vibe is relaxed and lively, and the location makes it an easy choice if you're exploring the city centre. The only downside was the service. The terrace was full and it was clear they were short-staffed, so things took a bit longer than expected. That said, the food more than made up for it. I’ll definitely go back!

It took ages for our order to even be taken, and then we waited a long time for our coffee. The coffee was long gone, and we still hadn't seen any pastries. When we went to pay, they wanted to charge for the pastries and looked surprised that we hadn't received anything. We'll be skipping this place in the future.

Good food, good service, until some 20-year-old guy started his party with a disco that was way too loud. Too bad.

If you order Coke Zero, you get regular Coke. I exchanged it myself inside, but received no apology. The restrooms are on the second floor; there's no toilet paper and one door lock is broken. Not a good advertisement for Rotterdam, unfortunately...

Staff was friendly and attentive without being pushy. They really took the time to explain the menu and gave good suggestions for the wine. My husband and I went for the lobster roll, very tasty, highly recommended!

Wanted a Rosé beer, got a Rombach Red Ale, don't know if it was the fruity beer that was on the menu. One thing is for sure, this was undrinkable. Not out of date. I am a lover of special beers myself and tried it, was ordered for my husband, some beers are not my favorite, but I do drink them. This beer was just dirty, stale and certainly did not show the taste as indicated. Apparently an Irish beer but this one came from Belgium. Tip for Jules, serve a Kriek or Liebmann. Furthermore, a nice terrace.

What kind of shit is this, the service sucks, I had to wait an hour for drinks and no food (NOT RECOMMENDED!)

Unfortunately, my experience at this establishment was very disappointing due to the attitude of the waiter. I arrived at 7:40 PM, intending to order a drink, but the waiter rudely told me that he didn’t want to serve me because they were “already closed,” even though the posted closing time is 8:00 PM. There was no willingness to help, no explanation, and certainly no apology for closing early. This kind of approach leaves a very bad impression and shows a complete lack of professionalism and hospitality. Staff should be willing to serve guests until the official closing time, not turn them away 20 minutes early. Because of this experience, I would not recommend this place to anyone who expects even a basic level of courtesy and service.

Great location in the city centre for a delicious glass of wine and a snack.

Kitchen was closed on Wednesday at 730pm even though the restaurant open sign was lit.

Order a coffee with special coffee. You get a normal coffee with drinks in it. Instead of how it should be with milk, etc. In other words, the map does not match reality. The waiter didn't even know what it was.

Very disappointing. Bland eggs Norwegian, salad had only 1 of 6 ingredients. Idea that everything was not fresh. Friendly service but serving took a very long time.

Made use of the terrace this afternoon. 1 cappuccino, 1 apple pie and a beer. After 20 minutes the apple pie arrived....it was finished before the cappuccino was delivered. When it was gone I went inside to pay....here is your beer sir.... So after 30 minutes they had finally found the beer pump. I say it in Rotterdam style... what a bunch of nonsense, the only thing that went smoothly was the payment. Walk past and definitely don't sit down........ unless you have an hour and otherwise just walk to the Binnenrotte.

We were sent away at 3pm “we are closing”. Strange that 2 hours later there are still people on the terrace and opening hours are until 11pm???????

The menu is still a bit simple, but the food is of good quality. Beautiful location, had a lovely meal and a drink in the sun. And that for a normal price, we will definitely come back!

A cozy terrace with delicious food and drinks

The cola was warm and they served it without any ice. The table next to me had also a cola and they had a glass with ice.

Bad experience on a Saturday afternoon. I got a very sweet cappuccino. Later I got a normal one, but that is strange! The toilets were dirty and the service was unfriendly. I would walk to the Erasmus café-restaurant. Then you will really notice the difference!

Really bad service, really slow

The menu used to be good with really tasty dishes. For a year now the menu has been simple and nothing special. The service is bad. We spend the crunchie chicken, sorry they are sold out. Then we want the bitterballen (for lack of anything better). After 20 minutes, no bitterballs even though I see them at the neighbors on the terrace who ordered them after us. I went to ask where our order was, sorry someone took it out of the system, I'll make sure they come as soon as possible. 5 minutes later the manager comes: sorry, the bitterballen are gone. I really don't understand how you can make such a poor purchase in the sunniest week of 2025 and therefore buy too little of the most popular appetizers. In short, despite the beautiful terrace, we will not go here again.

Delicious lunch with friendly service

Sunny afternoon, but staff did not bother to check the terrace, after waiting 15 minutes we left without being able to order. Tables were also not cleaned and were full of empty glasses and plates. Never again!

Very bad! Been 3 times, not seen 3 times, 3 times silent, lethargic staff who have no catering qualities at all! A flat white served as a latte macciato. No atmosphere, smells like old frying fat. Total disappointment and ran away. Nothing compared to Pierre! Shame!

Lunch done. The sandwich was good. Ham/cheese bouncer was very simple. At first I forgot to put ham and cheese on it. Nothing wrong with it, just 2 white sandwiches with 4 eggs. 2nd mint tea never arrived. Given the appearance of this restaurant, I expected a little more. White bread was dry. Unfortunately, this does not invite us to return here.

Unfortunately, due to an owner change, the restaurant is not focused on French food anymore. The menu was very restricted with limited dinner options, which now look the same as every other restaurant in the city. The food was fine, but nothing special. The servers were kind and attentive, but I’m not planning to return to this restaurant.

Lovely day in Rotterdam, to the market and then had lunch here, good service, tasty burgers and fries, at the Beurstraverse in the WTC.

In the past it was good, but there have been changes that now everything is very minimal. No vegetarian options on the menu, not even a vegetarian version of another dish on the menu. What you end up with is quite minimal, you could easily make this yourself by walking to the supermarket 100 meters away. When ordering, the waitress indicated that it would take a long time if we ordered different dishes. For the price you have to pay, I personally expect something more/better.

Excellent hotel bar/restaurant. Had a nice breakfast, I did miss some baked beans or fried potatoes for breakfast, but they did have sausages (only some ketchup was missing), scrambled eggs and delicious bacon!

Brasserie Jules 21-09-2024 We had made a reservation for 2 people at about 5 (5:00 PM) in the afternoon. It promised to be a beautiful sunny day. Our first experience with Jules at the Beursgebouw in Rotterdam had been good and memorable. Mussels and pork belly with scallops. Now the menu has become so limited that there are not even decent starters listed. Then we chose from the 'bites' and the Serrano ham. This was served with small sour pickles, a nice combination although the ham was a bit dry. For the main course we both opted for the fried salmon, but unfortunately we ran out of it. After a brief consultation, we opted for the round steak with pepper sauce for both. Not much later the service came back with 'the steak is also gone!' Ultimately opted for the 'Pasta Vongole' and the 'Baby sole Ala Meuniere'. We were specifically asked to leave out the peppers with the pasta because we don't like spicy food. So it was served with the peppers! The portion was very small and the spaghetti seemed undercooked. The two soles with lemon butter and capers were also very dry and very little butter sauce. Unfortunately. The 'French fries' served were not really crispy. Finally, they had also forgotten to remove the two round steaks from the bill! All praise for the service because it remained very attentive and friendly.

I wouldn't eat here. The food was not tasty, the bitterballen were fried in old fat and tasted like it, had a Greek salad, they don't know how to make it, very boring and not tasty either, the service didn't really understand it either, there was a white girl with curly hair. he was nice and asked if everything was okay. Too bad because the location is perfect

The apple pie was uneaten, and very pricey for a measly piece with a small dollop of whipped cream. While the drinks and apple pie were being served, the staff poured ice tea over my pants. I had a piece of paper towel thrown at me without any apology. I won't come back here again!!

Friendly service; but painfully slow. Both drinking and eating take too long. Ordered Croque Madame: dry unbaked bread; cheese not melted; fried egg fried dry. Overall disappointing.

Based on previous experiences, we were going for s nice lunch at Jules. Now having high expectations sometimes leads to disappointment, but this takes the cake. We were greeted friendly and picked a table. I’ll leave the non-smoking policy for what it is, but it may help that this is in no way enforced. So we had to switch tables (normally not so much og an issue, but with children and it’s prohibited, but what would the staff care) We had our order taken, croque madam, croque without egg, eggs Benedict and a steak tartare. The latter was triple checked if this was ok. ( not a steak sandwich, check. On the dinner menu, not a problem. On recap no issue) It was busy with three people working the terrace, so we appreciated that things were not going to be fast. The croques came out, then the eggs Benedict and……the kid who’s running the menu’s out came to ask if I was made aware the steak tartare wasn’t available…… Which I was obviously not. After some hazy looks i was offered a menu card if I would like to order something else. Upon questioning if this than would be quick so my company doesn’t have to wait for too long after my lunch would be served, he said this wasn’t possible at all. After questioning our server how this was even possible, the answer came that there apparently is a new system and the kitchen sometimes cancels the order. How this then does not prompt anybody to walk back and apologize for the inconvenience and offer to eat something else is betond me. I left it at at that, annoyed but life is too short as it is. Then the Eggs Benedict, served with something called Turkeyham. Possibly this can be made tasty and it serves a broader crowd of people. It however looked like factory processed ham of the kind you only take when starving, broke and with no alternative. I’m not saying the quality is bad, it just looks like dogfood. After confirming why it was left, it tasted like it looked. The croques were with ketchup, so no complaintS in that department. So far, so good. We wanted to leave and asked for the bill, which could be paid inside. Upon reviewing the bill apparently the kitchen cancelled the steak tartare, but it seems that not only was the customer left in the dark, so was everybody else. The person handling the counter was puzzled, how can this be? Is there maybe another table we should look at to book? Further investigation also learned that the egg on the croque madam is actually supplementary and charged. Now as I mentioned before life is too short, especially to waste on bad reviews. But this was such an affront to anything resembling good service or food, especially being associated with Pierre (actually quite good, go there instead) that I decided to write this review and hopefully spare someone else the time and money that this place is costing you.

We waited almost 2 hours to get our food and it never came! Our server lied to us, saying it was coming and it never did! Don't eat here!

Sunday 21-07-2024 had lunch here with my brother and my mother. Order taking was quick. The food was also served on time. No long waiting times. Salmon sandwiches, fries and salad were excellent in taste and price. Just cutlery was included. No issues whatsoever with tables or service. Can also be reached with a walker. There is a sloping flat side right next to WE. And inside there is an elevator. Cozy terrace and highly recommended in my opinion.

Sat on the terrace with a friend. Ordered lunch and waited half an hour. In the meantime, people who arrived later already received their food. When I asked an employee how long it would take, she did not return. After waiting a total of an hour for our lunch, we decided to leave. When I went to the cash register to pay, it turned out that they were still not processing the order. Very unfortunate because I had previously had a good experience with this restaurant.

I came here by the suggestion of my friend and definitely gonna come here again. Foods was delicious and the terrace was so nice to sit in the sun. Staff was really smiley and helpful. Definitely suggest everyone who likes to spend their times on the sun with some drinks or with good food
