The four of us had a lovely dinner out today. We drove here, which was a bit nerve-wracking because it's a very narrow road to get here, which is a drawback. I'd probably recommend cycling. The service was friendly and fast. The food was partly delicious; I had a hot meat sandwich and my partner had a spicy chicken sandwich. Both were delicious. My parents had a 12-hour meal, and apparently, it wasn't very good. The soup, in particular, wasn't very good; it lacked flavor and tasted watery. They mentioned this to the staff, who said they would mention it to the chef. However, it is a very beautiful area, and in the summer, it would be a lovely place to sit and have a drink or a meal.

Just a quick bite to eat and a drink on a Friday afternoon, last September 5th. We received a friendly welcome, that was all. Three employees were chatting happily inside, paying no attention to new guests. Cups, plates, and glasses from previous guests were left behind, which the wasps present appreciated. We sat for 20 minutes on a nearly empty terrace, which is a shame if you want to generate some revenue.

We found the small draft beers on tap, at over €6, rather expensive. The service was friendly, but young and inexperienced.

We had made a reservation for the evening and got a seat on the boat; the weather was beautiful. The waiter was friendly and pleasant, the food was excellent, and we didn't have to wait long.

Had lunch with a group of nine. The service was quick and friendly. The location was great.

Lots of wasps. Eating inside was only possible with a reservation. For a meatball lunch, I expected a rustic piece of bread, not a thick slice of bread cut from white bread. Then I ordered a Caesar salad without croutons, and to my surprise, croutons were included.

Vlietzicht has two pontoons in the water, each with a terrace. Vlietzicht is located on the towpath. There's not much room for a terrace in front of the restaurant. While the restaurant is a great place to sit, sitting outside with a view of the (protected) De Vlieten nature reserve is much nicer! You can also moor your boat or canoe. It's a lovely spot!

After a walk with my dog, I stopped here for coffee, a slice of apple pie, and whipped cream. The dog was also allowed in and given a bowl of water.

We come here occasionally, but this time was a real disappointment. Frozen carpaccio at 12 o'clock, which, after we reported it, was not addressed. The policy for seating on the "boat" is also quite arbitrary. We weren't allowed to sit without a reservation, but people who arrived five minutes later without one were. Furthermore, the prices are very high for what you get.

Very bad. The service is grumpy, cutlery is just slammed onto the table, we waited a very long time for our food, and the cucumbers in the salad were dried out. They forgot everything. And the place is full of wasps. Well, we'll never go there again!

This is a very nice place for lunch, dinner, or a cup of coffee. They have a beautiful, large terrace on the water, and the interior is also quite spacious. If you sit on the terrace, you can constantly watch boats and canoes sailing by, which is very nice. The service is very friendly, and the food is also delicious. The homemade iced tea was delicious. They also have gluten-free options. There were two minor drawbacks: at one point, we were bothered by wasps. They constantly flew on your drink or perfume. It's not pleasant to be stung, so put a few lemon candles on the table or something else to prevent them. The cheesecake was very disappointing. It was super thin and lacked flavor. They also charge €1.10 for whipped cream. In comparison, it's quite expensive for a gimmick of whipped cream. Furthermore, the road to the restaurant by car is not very pleasant. It's very narrow, not really suitable for two cars, especially if the oncoming vehicle is a tractor. Then you have to search for a spot to pull over and get through. Pfff, sometimes it was a bit of a squeeze. So I recommend cycling there. And the parking lot isn't very spacious. If you have a big party or a wedding, for example, you'll probably have a parking problem, I think.

It's a shame that smoking is allowed everywhere outside, and so people are smoking next to, behind, and in front of your table. This really ruins your lunch, even though you're sitting outside. A tip for Vlietzicht: create a separate area for these smokers, depending on the wind!

A really nice place in a prime location on the water. Pedal boat and SUP rentals for fun on the water. We had a wonderful afternoon with a snack and a few drinks.

We had high tea at Vlietzicht this afternoon; it was truly delicious and there were certainly plenty of snacks. Good and friendly service.

You see a lot of positive reviews here, but unfortunately, we can't share that feeling. What we encountered was a terrace with clearly overworked, and perhaps therefore grumpy, staff. The tables weren't cleaned, taking orders took far too long, and making coffee isn't the most difficult task, you'd think, but it was disgusting. Probably because the tables weren't cleaned, we were also regularly plagued by wasps. That didn't exactly enhance our comfort either. The reservation policy was particularly unusual; reserved signs were placed everywhere, yet you could still sit down if you asked. It also seemed to depend on whether or not you were going to eat. Tables were supposed to be available again by noon, but when it was noon, there were no people. It seemed like tables were primarily meant for people who were willing to pay a lot. Expensive is fine, but something becomes 'too' expensive if the service and product don't match. In our opinion, that was unfortunately the case here. No matter how much you hate tourists, you still have to deliver value for your money. You can't charge €3.95 for a drink if you're grumpy and leave your guests sitting at dirty tables surrounded by wasps. We hope this is just a snapshot, and that anyone who sits here has a better experience.

Great place, much improved from a few years ago. I called last minute to see if I could make an earlier reservation. And that was possible!

Unbelievable! My parents had booked a buffet including a boat trip in May 2025 for their golden wedding anniversary, for last Friday, July 25th, and yes, indeed, their 50th wedding anniversary. That's quite special; it would certainly stand out, I think. They checked several times to make sure everything was in order, even a week beforehand, and yes, sir, everything is fine. And guess what, they completely forgot! We were fobbed off with lame excuses and a meager buffet; we couldn't even get the promised celebratory cake for dessert. Then they had to foot a hefty bill for drinks, even though they promised all sorts of compensation. Well, folks, just take credit for this whole buffet; what a disgrace! I've worked as a chef in the hospitality industry for 25 years, but I've honestly never seen such a blunder! How is that possible? The boat trip was fantastic, and the conservatory was reserved. It's a package deal that includes a buffet. Surely that should set off alarm bells when that group is on the boat? Gosh... Aren't we missing something? Yes, a very extensive hot/cold/dessert buffet for 25 people! It's amazing how they do it!

We stopped here last Sunday during a lovely bike ride. No staff member greeted us, and after waiting 15 minutes and several employees walking past our table, we decided to leave. There were plenty of waitstaff, but apparently no direction, or everyone was busy filling the planters, which is also important on a sunny Sunday afternoon. A shame in such a beautiful location, which, in my opinion, thrives on days like these.

We went on a team outing on a hot day. We had to sit under a metal canopy for food safety reasons?!?, even though there was plenty of room on the boat, where it was much more bearable. The buffet was served in the full sun behind glass (including shrimp, cured ham, carpaccio). A canned Russian salad. The icing on the cake was my colleague, who had been waiting a while for her drink, who got the answer: I can't do everything at once 😫👎👎👎 Beautiful location otherwise.

What a charming restaurant with beautiful old decorations in a stunning location by the water. Delicious food. It made a big difference who showed up at your table to take your order or serve it. The way our dessert was handled was especially cringeworthy.

We had a delicious fried egg sandwich. Friendly service and a nice atmosphere.

My partner received a glass of beer, but when the foam subsided, it turned out the glass was severely damaged. She also injured her lip on the glass. The waiter said he would pass it on inside... Ordering a second drink was also impossible, even though it certainly wasn't very busy. Serving a carpachio on an Italian bun is definitely a bad idea. In short, after a great experience last season, this time was a very mediocre one!

Voor het eerst een zeer slechte ervaring daar gehad vandaag Vraagt of er plek is op de boot, heeft u gerenee. Oke dan kunt u daar iets uitzoeken om te zitten. Tafel vol met troep van een andere klant, maar na een halfuur nog alles op tafel vrouw roept naar de bediening er komt iemand bij u. Intussen 3 stelletjes die ook niet gereserveerd hadden mochten wel op de boot zitten en wij leken wel een stel Melaatsen. Op gestapt en weggegaan. Volgende keer zeg ik het daar wel hardop hoe ze dan zijn als dit weer gebeurt.

Vanmorgen zijn mijn vrouw en ik heerlijk op de fiets gestapt richting Café Vlietzicht, prachtig gelegen aan de Vlaardingsevaart bij Schipluiden. Midden in het groen, weg van de drukte – en toch verrassend dichtbij. Bij aankomst werden we hartelijk ontvangen op het gezellige terras met uitzicht over het water en het weiland. We kozen allebei voor een tosti, maar niet zomaar één: deze werden geserveerd op Turks brood, wat het nét even anders en bijzonder maakte. Diana ging voor een klassieke kaas-tosti, ikzelf voor de variant met ham én kaas – lekker krokant van buiten, smeuïg van binnen. Als drank bestelde Diana een Chaudfontaine blauw – verfrissend en licht – en ik een goede cappuccino. En omdat het weer er perfect voor was, sloot ik de lunch af met een Texelse Skinner – dat heerlijke witte bier met een licht kruidige afdronk. Een aanrader! Daarna stapten we weer op de fiets voor de terugweg, voldaan en opgefrist. Het was een lunchpauze zoals je ’m het liefst hebt: ontspannen, smakelijk en met uitzicht waar je stil van wordt. Medewerkers van Vlietzicht, bedankt voor de goede bediening en sfeer, tot snel!

Lunch at its best at Vlietzicht – Enjoying a bike ride along the Vlaardingsevaart This morning my wife and I cycled to Café Vlietzicht, beautifully situated along the Vlaardingsevaart near Schipluiden. In the middle of the greenery, away from the hustle and bustle – and yet surprisingly close. Upon arrival we were warmly welcomed on the cosy terrace with a view over the water and the meadow. We both opted for a toasted sandwich, but not just any sandwich: these were served on Turkish bread, which made it just that little bit different and special. Diana went for a classic cheese toasted sandwich, I for the variant with ham and cheese – nice and crispy on the outside, creamy on the inside. Diana ordered a Chaudfontaine blue as a drink – refreshing and light – and I a good cappuccino. And because the weather was perfect for it, I finished the lunch with a Texel Skinner – that delicious white beer with a slightly spicy aftertaste. Highly recommended! Afterwards we got back on our bikes for the return trip, satisfied and refreshed. It was a lunch break as you like it best: relaxed, tasty and with a view that makes you quiet. Vlietzicht staff, thank you for the good service and atmosphere, see you soon!

Don't want to unnecessarily poorly review this place as only stopped for coffee when on a bicycle tour. Recommended by company guides but horribly slow service when taking orders and payments.

Wij hebben met 22 pers.fam. en vrienden een Verjaardag gevierd en met z,n allen genoten van een BBQ op deze prachtige locatie , het voelt als vakantie ,gezellig ,aan het water en lekker eten.

What a nice place for lunch, or just for a cup of coffee or a beer on tap. They have Skuumkoppe! +1 😃 Too bad the pin didn't work but that they didn't respond faster to people who wanted to pay cash. A bit of training and experience I think...

Nice place on the water with a nice terrace. Nice in the sun with a view over Ade Vliet. Smooth and friendly service. Stopped here for lunch and that was a great choice. Delicious cappuccino, a hearty meatball with gravy and nice thick sandwiches. Also a very tasty brown roll with goat cheese. Wide choice on the menu and also an extensive drinks menu with special beers and different wines by the glass or bottle.

When the weather is nice, a lovely terrace on the water.

A nice restaurant along the cycle path, with a large outdoor space for lunch or dinner overlooking the canal (and surrounding polder). Typical menu of restaurants of this kind. My burger was very good, but the fries had a bitter aftertaste (maybe the oil used?). Average price. Quick and very young service (although it would be good to clean the tables every now and then).

Delicious food. It's just a shame that smokers are allowed to sit among the diners.

Enjoyed Easter Sunday on the terrace boat. Our first drinks were on the table in no time despite the big Easter brunch that was going on. Onion soup with 3 baguettes and melted cheese on top. Hot meat sandwich that was generously topped with Fricandeau and mushrooms. A ham cheese sandwich on tasty Turkish bread. A 12-hour meal with a cup of tomato soup, a croquette sandwich and a Carpaccio sandwich. Everything tasted delicious, was well stocked and served super quickly despite the crowds. What else passed by for other guests also looked good and not small portions. We unexpectedly ended up here during a car trip and that was not a bad thing, we enjoyed the atmosphere, the surroundings and the delicious food! The staff is friendly and attentive!

Ordered farmer's baguette with herb butter This turned out to be a regular white baguette with something that looked like herb butter 😢 and this for 8.25 Then satay, one perfect and the other almost cold (very unfortunate) Taste was good...but few fries Once again a lovely place, but for almost 80.00 you expect a bit more...

Very cozy brasserie with terrace on the water in the middle of the polder. Good off-road parking. We had a coffee stop so we didn't use the menu. The coffee was okay. well cared for. Friendly staff. We'll drop by there for a while.

Lovely quiet spot when the weather is nice and the wind is not too strong. Relax outside on the terrace along the water, with a beautiful view. Every now and then a boat passes by, great. They have nice coffee and the food is good too. Definitely come back this summer.

The location is very nice and so is the surroundings. The food is reasonable, but not more than that. Steak was not that tasty, pork tenderloin was tasty. Add salad and fries. The service is not unfriendly but a bit clumsy, they said about a beer in a broken glass: we'll pour it over. Update; had something to drink and eat again. About the food: same as before, not special (good), limp fries but otherwise not bad. A comment about drinking, a large beer (0.5 liters) now costs €8!! Furthermore, all the waiting staff are very young.

We had a lovely lunch here last Friday afternoon. Our guests told us when you enter here you are immediately welcome and feel at home. You can't get a better compliment. And that's the reason we come here.

Gloomy weather and in the mood for an instant mood enhancer, I'm going to eat delicious apple strudl in this brasserie, just like I did last week. The hot chocolate with real thick whipped cream close to the fireplace makes life completely OK. Excellent quality in an attractive location.

It was busy and we had not made a reservation, so we were able to sit in the spacious conservatory. We were helped by the smooth, very friendly staff, we ordered meatball vlietzicht with bread. We enjoyed this dish. It is highly recommended to eat here and would love to come back, just make a reservation 😉.

We will definitely come back here for the food, but this time we were only there for a cup of coffee. Inside it looks very cozy and cozy. I'm very curious to see what it will be like when the terrace is open. But the view is already phenomenal.

Came to try it again yesterday after going for coffee in the summer. In the summer we had the same experience as yesterday. The coffee was no longer the same as before. We had said something about this, a new one was brought in but it was still not improved. The staff was busy and had no time or hearing for more compassionate interest. She would communicate it. Left with a less feeling. After a long time we were in the area and thought let's have a coffee, to which my partner said: Hey, but the coffee wasn't that good there anymore? To which I replied: oh well, you never know, maybe today! Upon arrival we sat outside and thought we would enjoy the beautiful view in the sun. Ordered two cappuccinos with apple pie and whipped cream. The cappuccino was weak again, too much milk just not tasty. Something was said about this, and new ones were brought. This one is not good again. Summer flashback. Not satisfied, walked in to pay, coffee not drunk, mentioned to the service employee, who was not interested in it either. Here too she would communicate it again. It should also be noted that this has happened for the second time, that we normally would have liked to come for the place, but that we will not come back. At this point she could have recognized this and done something about it. However, she let this go. Perhaps a matter of limited training or common sense. Sad to see, it is understandable and known that the catering industry is faced with many challenges, but now is the time to promote quality and distinguish it from other businesses. Not to reduce costs and focus on profit. That's how it came across anyway. I wish Vlietzicht much success. We choose a different party.

We have been here in the winter period. It was quiet and with plenty of room to sit. Relax by the window with hot coffee, tea and their homemade apple pie with a view over the serene landscape. We played some games with our son and then took the walking path to explore the neighborhood. Recommended!

Beautiful location, having lunch or dinner on the boat in the summer is fun. Have a beer after cycling or rent a boat. Unfortunately, the atmosphere is not the same in winter, and the dinner menu is also less in choice and quality.

Had coffee today with apple pie with whipped cream. Good coffee and tasty apple pie with real whipped cream, nothing wrong with that. Service friendly, nothing wrong with that Atmosphere is great, nothing wrong with that either. But then pay. 4 cappucino 2 apple pie with whipped cream for 27.70 euros??? Outside the price list I looked again in disbelief: coffee 3.90, apple pie 4.95 and whipped cream 1.10? That's why only 2 stars Yes, I can earn them that way too.

Visit Sunday morning, rented festivity. What is striking is the hustle and bustle, which makes "quiet" communication difficult for the elderly (hearing aids), and the controls are good and clearly present. Beautiful location for a stop along the way when cycling or just for a bite to eat. Highly recommended!!!

I loved it here. We sailed along the canal in a hired boat. We docked at this lovely restaurant on the water. Staff were very friendly and service was good. An added bonus was the sparrows that had nests in the trees that surrounded the cafe. Really lovely!
