It is permanently closed and they are unreachable. They apparently do not refund the prepaid reservations since they are nowhere to be found.

On August 6th, I made a reservation for October 10th at Breda restaurant. We were met with a closed door!! Besides the fact that this partially ruined my special evening, I've apparently also lost my €100 deposit. After several emails, I still haven't received a single response from the restaurant or the Breda Group, which owns this restaurant. So don't dine with them or make a reservation there!!!!

Always wanted to visit. I recently reached out but didn't hear back. Later, a worker in the building was inside the restaurant and let me know that they are permanently closed. Something else will replace the restaurant (though nobody said what would come next). Hopefully something great! It's a splendid location.

Three weeks ago, my three friends and I were supposed to have dinner at Breda to celebrate something special. We had been really looking forward to it and had saved up especially for it. Unfortunately, despite having a reservation, we were met with a closed door. Since then, we've tried several times to contact them by phone, email, and Instagram, but so far we haven't heard anything. No explanation, no apology, just radio silence. It's a real shame that such a lovely restaurant exhibits this kind of customer unfriendliness. We expected at least a response or an explanation.

Amazing food, great service, and views. Loved the beet salad but the whole 5 course dinner was beautifully presented, and each course explained.

Very disappointed with Breda – No refund and no response I made a reservation for four people at Breda in June and was charged €100 in advance. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I had to cancel the reservation just 2 minutes after making it. I called immediately and was told over the phone that I would be refunded. I also received email confirmation of the cancellation, which clearly shows that I acted promptly and in good faith. I later sent an email asking about the refund, to follow up, but never received a reply. Despite their promise over the phone, Breda doesn´t refund the money. I’ve attached two photos to this review showing that the cancellation was made just 2 minutes after booking. This kind of service is unacceptable and highly unprofessional. They don’t honor their word, ignore communication, and keep the money without justification. I have never experienced anything like this with any other restaurant. A very frustrating experience. I absolutely do not recommend Breda.

The menu was rather one-dimensional, with all the garnishes and dressings repeated throughout the seven courses we had. In that sense, I found it predictable. The exception to the mediocrity was the cod medallion, which was truly excellent. Furthermore, the restaurant lacked atmosphere (the bare, mustard-green walls weren't exactly appetizing), and the staff weren't exactly adept at handling a group of noisy tourists. In short, a Michelin-starred restaurant with pretensions and ambitions that they'll likely never live up to.

Had dinner here yesterday and it was a great experience! Sat wonderfully relaxed on the farm, with super tasty and flavoursome dishes. Everything was beautifully presented and accompanied by a perfectly matching wine. The service was friendly and professional, with clear explanations of what was served. Highly recommended - we will definitely be back!

Our savory dishes were quite good. I couldn’t imagine a better way to make the beet dish. The lamb was amazing too, my wife who prefers white meat also loved it. Desserts were too sour. The service and atmosphere need a little polish. The service was just ok and the table cloth and plates need to be replaced.

One of the best meals i have ever had. Each dish was flawless. Wine pairing was really good and decent value.

Amazing fine dining night. We went for the 7 course meal and it blended perfectly all ingredients alternating veggies, cod and lamb. The service was warm and very knowledgeable about the wine list. Atmosphere was romantic.

Had a fantastic meal at Restaurant Breda in Amsterdam. Highly recommended for lovers of fine dining in a wonderfully relaxed atmosphere. Very tasty seasonal dishes, beautifully served, with matching wine. A must for food lovers!

Superb gastro experience. Slow start, but the welcome bite was stunning… Ceviche from pacific !!!was top served with mushroom b&b , next was beetroot dish (out of this world), moving forward with slow cook cod XO sauce ( wow) heading to the controversial lamb slightly served with an overwhelming sauce or gravy… pre dessert was mind blowing, minty goaty rhubarb, and the 5 course finished with a icy foamy chocolaty dessert missing a hunt of crunchiness texture to end this “sans faute” in the culinary department of Breda. Now service was slow but friendly. Water was homemade ! And the wine selection interesting. I would have loved getting a food menu but it seems that kind of dining experience is based on mutual respect and trust.Then, Comes the issue, the effort put in the dishes is not translated at the table which have a negative impact on the people (foodies) journey…Breda deserves a detour… for sure but service needs to raise like the phoenix… please pre print some small food menu to understand what we have been enjoying… P&L

We came here for a nicer dinner during our honeymoon trip to Amsterdam. The staff was incredibly kind: congratulated us, gave us the best, coziest table in the house, and welcomed us with champagne. Our server’s name was Yiannis (sp?) and he was very kind and helpful, talking us through each wine pairing so that we could truly appreciate the different tastes and types that were paired with each course. The dinner was an enchanting culinary experience from start to finish. Thank you so much Breda and Yiannis for such a memorable night!

Last visted May 2025 The location, the food, the service... top marks. Selected the 9 couse menu.... each course was nicely described. The presentation of each of the dishes was an eye-opener. I dined solo, at the bar and was the restaurant and staff were very welcoming. Thank you

The BREDA restaurant in Amsterdam was the best thing that could have happened to us on this wonderful weekend in Amsterdam. Perfect menu full of surprising flavor combinations, absolutely right in terms of price, very attentive and individual service, you can immediately feel that the team is in harmony. Anyone who was in Amsterdam and missed the BREDA did not get to know something essential about Amsterdam. Only a once more helps... Thank you for this lovely evening.

Tuvimos un gran almuerzo tarde en Breda hoy. Estoy sorprendido de las críticas negativas, porque nuestra experiencia fue estelar en todo. Si quieres un filete aburrido con patata, esto no es para ti. Vine aquí para almorzar con un amigo y probé los tres platos - comida, que incluía pan y mantequilla, un divertido - bouche, y un postre adicional además de los tres platos nominales. Cada bocado de comida que me puse en la boca estaba perfectamente preparado, entregaba sabores sutiles y sofisticados, y mostraba atención al detalle. Estaba claro que el chef / personal de cocina puso mucho pensamiento y amor en su trabajo y ver la gestión de este restaurante como una manera de explorar el arte de la gastronomía y traer nuevas sensaciones a la gente en lugar de simplemente como una empresa de negocios. El ambiente también era de buen gusto y llamativo, con el interior del restaurante casi parecido a una pintura del Siglo de Oro holandés gracias a los paneles de madera oscura atemporales, techo alto y paredes pintadas. Los enormes portes - fenêtres estaban cerrados mientras estábamos allí, pero estoy seguro de que abrirán el espacio y pondrán mesas afuera en el verano. De acuerdo con todos los demás aspectos de mi experiencia en Breda, el servicio fue genial y nuestro camarero era entusiasta y accesible. Estaré encantado de volver si visito Amsterdam de nuevo.

Beautiful place, very charming with excellent service. Food was great too, some flavors combinations were not my favorite but overall I liked it. Mackerel and fish entree the best for me. Have to say the service was excellent, one of the best we got in Amsterdam. I would go back to give it another try.

‘Breda lost its charm’. Ik vat het maar even in het Engels samen, want dat is de voertaal hier. Waar het ooit een van de voorlopers was van de nieuwe Amsterdamse restaurants, is het nu volledig gericht op toeristen die een zogenaamd authentiek hip Amsterdams restaurant willen zien. De keuken doet nog wel zijn best, maar spannend wordt het nooit. Er is niks te kiezen, behalve het aantal gangen. De bediening is volledig in het Engels en heeft als opdracht om je zo snel mogelijk door het menu te leiden. Signalen en uitdrukkelijke verzoeken van ons om het iets rustiger aan te doen worden genegeerd. Jammer jammer jammer.

It’s as if they didn’t want to be there. It wasn’t good, and it wasn’t bad. This was a lunch, and the restaurant was totally empty with the exception of one other table. It’s a prefix menu, 3-5 courses for €35-€55. It felt as though they were just throwing things together, like they didn’t want to be there. Even though the food was presented nicely, it was just OK. I had higher expectations being that is a ‘fine dining’ (expensive) restaurant. Three diners with 5 glasses of wine/champagne, espresso and coffee- €227 🫣 if everything would have been outstanding, then that’s fine, but it wasn’t. The space itself is cool- industrial, modern and sits on a corner (big plus) with high ceilings. They have a nice long bar where you can dine, so when it’s crowded, it would be a great environment. Definitely a dinner spot rather than a lunch spot, epecially during the winter months. They can definitely do much better than this, so if I go back, it would be for a dinner (and let someone else pay) on the weekend when they have to be on point, rather than winging it during a lunch service. Nice atmosphere, good, interesting dishes. Unfortunately, the service didn't change cutlery, but rather took it off the plate and put it back on the table. Strange and disgusting behavior. You have to ask for fresh cutlery for every course (7 courses)...

Esta fue nuestra segunda vez cenando en BREDA y nos quedamos boquiabiertos como la primera vez. Cada plato es innovador y sabroso. Además, la presentación de cada placa es encantadora. El personal también es agradable - - pedimos cambiar de mesa ya que no queríamos sentarnos cerca de la puerta (hacía frío! ) y no fue ningún problema.

Espantoso. Terrible servicio. Servidores hostigados que nos interrumpieron para dar rápidamente explicaciones incomprensibles de las escasas ofertas. Comida buena pero en su mayoría de bajo precio vegetariano que no justificaba el precio $$$$. Tuve que rogar que refrescaran el vino. Nunca recomendaría.

Excellent service, food. Everything

Tucked away in the busy center of Amsterdam is Restaurant Breda, serving modern international cuisine with a touch of Dutch and French influence. The restaurant’s namesake is a city in the Brabant region, south of the Netherlands, where the three founders grew up together. • Lunch during a sunny day is especially lovely as it shines through large windows onto limewashed walls and warm wooden tables. For lunch, we had the choice of 3-, 4-, and 5-course meals. As we were rather full from breakfast, we opted for the 3-course menu. Even so, we enjoyed the full spectrum of a formal restaurant with an amuse bouche to start, three lovely courses, and a sweet closing.

Mixed thoughts. Did a NYE 7 course menu last night. Pros: The food was excellent. Honestly, huge shout out to the chefs and cooks. Portions could maybe be a touch bigger, but the creativity of the food (the smoked chard, and cod were absolutely incredible), presentation, and taste was just fantastic. Well done to the team. Cons: The service on the other hand was TERRIBLE, and having worked years in the service industry I usually cut people a TON of slack. The first guy who helped us unfortunately ended his shift shortly after, and it was all downhill from there. There appeared to be ONE fully capable server (sorry I didn't get your name, but the guy with the unconnected goatee) who was holding the entire place together, literally sprinting around, along with the poor kitchen staff who also eventually got recruited into running food on top of their duties in the back. There also appeared to be one other lady in black who seemed to know what she was doing, but most of her time was spent herding around the other workers trying to get them to do...well...anything useful? At least 3-4 of the staff appeared to just stumble around aimlessly the entire night - they couldn't do anything other than remove empty dishes without asking the single guy for help - "I'll ask my colleague to help you" became the quote of the night. Well...no...because the guy is sweating himself to death and now I feel guilty asking about the food I just ate, or asking for wine because you can't do it at all. The place was busy but not extremely so. The food timing was ridiculously off-pace, and the whole experience was pretty muted by the terrible service. Don't get me wrong, everyone was friendly, but for this price? Long story short, I sadly can't recommend this place unless they overhaul their service. Maybe it was an off-night, I don't know. But for the price, you expect a lovely evening alongside the amazing food. This was...something else (and more expensive than other restaurants in Amsterdam with comparable food AND excellent service, to boot).

Eten zeer matig en ‘zogenaamd’ gedurfd. Bediening alleen met zichzelf bezig en to cool for school of onverstaanbaar brabbelend in non native Engels. Alles wat er aan kritiek op de hoofdstad kan zijn, komt hier samen. Jammer, want goede restaurants in dezelfde league lijden eronder (Rijsel, Scheepskameel, Zoldering enz..). Een treurige ervaring. Ook nog even met regelmaat gemansplained.

*The Breda, Amsterdam* Our visit to *The Breda* was, unfortunately, far from satisfying, especially considering the price we paid. 1. **Taste of the Food:** Taste is, of course, subjective, but the dishes served did not appeal to us at all. For a restaurant in this price range, we expected far better. 2. **Wine Service:** The wine service was disappointing. While we noticed attentive service at other tables, ours felt rather half-hearted, which left us feeling neglected. 3. **End of the Evening:** What we found particularly rude was how we were treated when paying. We were only reminded not to forget our jackets, whereas other guests had theirs brought to them after settling the bill. After tipping €9 for what was already subpar service, this remark felt particularly inappropriate. 4. **Hygiene:** A major annoyance was the presence of fruit flies throughout the restaurant. This was not only distracting but also raised concerns about hygiene. For the prices *The Brede* charges, we expected significantly better service, a more pleasant atmosphere, and more appreciation for the guests. Sadly, we cannot recommend this restaurant.

Food was decent - but omg the food was sooooo slowwww. I’m bored out of my mind right now that I am finding something to do, so I decided to write a review. Took us almost 3 hours to finish a 7 meal course that we could have finish in 1 hour. Come here only if you have extra time to kill.

One of the best dining experiences in Amsterdam. Went there with my family who are visiting me from abroad for Christmas Eve, and let me tell you, this place did not disappoint. We went for their Christmas dinner 7-course special menu which was excellent. Service is top and ambiance is awesome. Excellent wine list. Highly recommend.

Disappointing Experience at Restaurant Breda We made reservations three months in advance at Klein Breda to celebrate our wedding anniversary, only to have them canceled last minute. We showed flexibility by agreeing to dine at their sister restaurant, Breda, trusting it would uphold the same level of excellence. Unfortunately, our experience fell far short of expectations. From the moment we arrived, we felt poorly treated. Despite arriving on time, we were seated in an arrangement that made it impossible to face each other—a particularly disappointing setup for an anniversary dinner. When we expressed concerns, our comments were ignored by the staff. Throughout the evening, it was clear we were being served last compared to other patrons who arrived after us. It left us feeling unwelcome, and we couldn’t shake the impression of anti-American sentiment. We eventually attempted to address these issues with the manager, but instead of addressing our disappointment, she focused on speaking with my wife, who was already upset and simply wanted to leave. At no point did we feel the staff made any real effort to rectify the situation or acknowledge the significance of our special occasion. For a restaurant charging €200 for a meal, the experience was unacceptable. The food may have been good (though our frustration overshadowed it), but the lack of hospitality and attention to detail ruined the evening. To fellow Americans or anyone expecting a warm and professional dining experience: I would think twice about choosing this restaurant. Fine dining is about more than just the food—it’s about making guests feel valued—and Restaurant Breda failed spectacularly in that regard.

This restaurant has been on our list for years. We were very disappointed and expected a different experience. If you have too few or new staff. Then take fewer tables as reservations. We were constantly forgotten, wine that suddenly ran out, while that was not possible, after 3 glasses from 1 bottle.

Exquisite meal and wine pairing. Some foods that I normally don't care for like swiss chard, beet root and some mushrooms that I can no longer live without. Love this place. Staff was fantastic. I will return.

An absolute gem of a restaurant, the service was extremely friendly and warm, she also explained every dish well. Courses were extremely well balanced and curated. Special mention for the cod and venison! Will definitely be back again when we’re in Amsterdam.

Extremely Disappointing Dinner This was one of the worst dining experiences I've ever had, and it left a lasting negative impression on my trip. While the presentation of the dishes was beautiful, the taste and balance were completely off. The beetroot dish was so unpleasant it made me hesitant to eat beetroot again for days. The cod was overly salty—almost inedible, as if it was prepared with no regard for seasoning balance. Every dish we tried lacked flavor harmony, and not a single one stood out in a positive way. It ruined the atmosphere of the evening. I wouldn’t recommend this restaurant to anyone.

An excellent restaurant. Delicious food focused on fresh, local ingredients - felt very inspired by the Nordic restaurants such as Noma. We dined there in December 2022 and loved the creativity and quality of each dish. The service was friendly and attentive, making for a warm and welcoming experience. The only downside for us was the atmosphere of the room—it’s quite large and didn’t feel as cozy as we’d expected for a place of this quality. That said, the food and service more than made up for it, and we’d happily recommend the place as well as its sister restaurant (Klein Breda)

Breda in Amsterdam is an absolute gem! Tried the 5-course menu, and every dish was spectacular—creative, flavorful, and beautifully presented. The service was top-notch, and the atmosphere was warm and inviting. A truly unforgettable dining experience. Highly recommend!

Had lunch with the four of us. 3 course menu with various white and red wines. What a surprise. Great tasty dishes. Very subtle. Absolutely perfect. The furnishings are modest but attractive, classic-modern, subdued with lots of wood and high ceilings (?). Perfect English-speaking service, young lady from Ireland who served it really well. Absolutely recommended.

Siendo justos, una mesa de 10 había llegado con 4 invitados adicionales, así que no los restaurantes tienen la culpa. Y oh Dios mío, estamos tan felices de haberlo hecho. Este es un menú degustación sin opción de 5 , 7 o 9 platos. Después de haber comprobado si teníamos alguna aversión o requerimientos dietéticos optamos por los 7 platos. Y qué increíble selección de platos fueron servidos. Probamos opciones que nunca habríamos elegido de un menú, pero, aparte de un plato que estaba sobre salado (y me encanta la sal), todo fue realmente increíble. Super Sylvia también se ofreció a movernos a una mesa cuando el primero estuvo disponible, pero nos divertimos sentados en la barra, así que nos quedamos sentados. Bien hecho restaurante Breda ***** estaremos de vuelta y no dude en recomendar la comida, el servicio y el ambiente de este gran hallazgo en Amsterdam.

The kitchen’s team at Breda definitely master their art. All the courses we received for lunch were perfectly executed. I highly enjoyed the care brought to every single dish’s texture and taste. However I was shocked by the lady’s answer when I expressed that the bottle of wine she just opened (behind the bar) had a very high level of volatile acidity: « this is a wine we only serve by the bottle and not by the glass ». I am also a sommelier serving mostly natural wines in my restaurant and I do have a high tolerance for volatile acidity but this was another level for me. Luckily the wine was a 2011 and not a more recent vintage. (It is true that this specific winemaker might be known for producing natural wines with high volatile). I decided to leave a 4 stars review for the tremendous work in the kitchen and the fact that Breda have a nice wine list including some natural wines on it. However, some guests (wines lovers or not) might enjoyed to have the bottle of wine being presented to them before being served. I have to admit that the wine choice was mine and it was notified as « nature » on the wine list but zero alternative was offer to me to resolve this problem. I kindly asked the waitress if it would be possible to carafe the wine which she did right away. Unfortunately it did not help at all. I would still recommend this restaurant to my friend while mentioning to be extremely careful in their wine’s choice.

Mal administrado. Sobreprecio, pretencioso y no vale la pena el tiempo ni el dinero. Pasamos 20 minutos, en nuestra mesa después de sentarnos, antes de que alguien nos diera un menú y tomara nuestro pedido de bebidas. El maitre d’ estaba demasiado ocupado bebiendo tragos en el bar con otros huéspedes para preocuparse por la falta de servicio!

Highly recommend. Every course was delicious and creative, and the restaurant itself has a lovely atmosphere. Big thanks to our Greek waitress who was very helpful and knowledgeable on all the dishes. Will definitely be visiting again when I'm back in Amsterdam.

Fantastic place, delicious food! Recommended!

I did an embarrassing thing. I booked at their sister resto and showed up here. They were so accommodating and understanding and I was able to stay for dinner. I found all of the fish dishes to be incredibly delicious - moist, well seasoned and accompanied. The lamb dish was very tough to cut through since it was more on the rare side and wasn’t quite as enjoyable.

This was the second time we were guests at Breda. While we were extremely enthusiastic during our first visit, this Saturday we were very disappointed. The quality of the service in particular was very poor. We always had the feeling that they were in a hurry and that almost only temporary workers with little knowledge were working there. Explanations of the dishes were brief, short and only in English. The wines were poured messily into the glasses. Even though we requested a wine pairing, we went without wine for some rounds. We were not allowed to order the large menu of 9 courses, only 5 or 7 were recommended. We were made to feel like we were in a bistrot for a quick bite. For more than 150 euros per person, we expected more from this (once?) well-regarded restaurant. We probably won't come back here.

I had a fantastic experience at Breda with my wife, thanks to Fadi’s excellent service. He was attentive, friendly, and went out of his way to ensure we had a great time. The food was delicious, and Fadi’s professionalism made the evening even better. Highly recommend!!

We had a delicious 7-course meal catered specifically to our needs. The staff were very friendly and provided a great service. The atmosphere was a bit chaotic, though, which was a bit distracting.

The food was delicious, innovative, and different, but the service fell short of expectations for a place like this. Be prepared for a long dinner, as it took almost three hours even though we only ordered the shortest menu. While we're glad we tried the food, we wouldn't repeat the experience due to the poor service and atmosphere.

Just had lunch with four people after a friend's recommendation. What a letdown for this price level. Service very substandard, no experience in the catering industry. There was no guidance on the wine list, refilling of water or wine was not done or was done too late. The dishes were nice but not more than that. Mediocre portions with contrived flavor combinations. An eggplant cream that had a very strong smoky flavor that drowned out the (otherwise perfect) lamb. It was nice that a small cake was served for the birthday of one of the guests, but the bad coffee ruined that. Coffee was actually no longer possible because the brigade was going to eat. Clearly didn't understand anything about hospitality. Shame.

I really liked the elaborate delicious dishes with the casual atmosphere! Definitely you must try it.

I politely entered and asked if they had availability. The host interrupted me before I finished asking and was strangely eager to tell me no, quite strongly. Like, okay buddy. No problem, but you're a little weird.

We just passed by looking for a lunch spot and by accident saw this place. The surprise menu turned out to be one of the best and delicious experience ive had for a while!

I’ve never walked out of the restaurant before…. I went to the restaurant and was told off by the waiter that I didn’t do my homework coz I asked if they have a-la carte. The guy told me off in the most nasty manner. After that a friend of mine pointed out to the guy that it was rude of him to talk that way. The guy not only he didn’t apologize for being rude, but instead insisted he had the right point. So we just left. Absolutely unacceptable.

This restaurant had been on my list for quite some time, partly thanks to the positive stories I had heard here and there. Unfortunately, this hopeful image was quickly shattered. On arrival we were received unfriendly by a Spanish lady, whose knowledge of both English and Dutch was far below standard. A false start, as it turned out. We started our evening outside, where we were served an aperitivo. After this quiet start, we were moved inside, where the restaurant was almost completely filled by a large group of guests. This later turned out to have a significant impact on the service, but more about that later. When recording our dietary requirements we encountered the same problem as on arrival: again the unfriendly waitress, this time in a long and awkward conversation due to her poor language skills. Despite communicating our wishes, we received exactly the dish that we were not allowed to eat as an appetizer. At that point, the manager for the evening intervened. Fortunately, this was a man with expertise, both in terms of catering and service. We opted for the 7-course menu, and there is really nothing to complain about. The dishes were all refined and tasty. One small point of criticism was that, because we don't eat seafood, the replacement dishes were all vegetarian. Of the seven courses, only one contained a dish with meat, which somewhat negated the variety. However, during the evening the service proved to be a source of annoyance. The service was slow, clearly overloaded by the large group that had taken over the restaurant that evening. We were not once asked if everything was satisfactory, and even at the end of the evening, when we asked for the bill, no information was given about our experience. The only thing the waitress asked us was if we wanted to leave a tip. The total bill: more than 280 euros. For that amount I definitely expected more, especially considering the reputation of the restaurant. We have eaten in other establishments of comparable, or even higher, quality – sometimes even at a Michelin star establishment – ​​for less money. This restaurant definitely has potential; the food was definitely excellent. But everything else, from the service to the overall feel, fell far below expectations.

BIG disappointment! Bad service 👎 by 2 waitress who never smiled & rushed, dressed all in cheap black outfit & behave like they go to the funeral :)) Tables placed at the entrance close to each other( L shape) , ppl facing each other at the entrance like in the classroom- no privacy, forget about romantic atmospheric.... It is a SHAME: very rude bartender ( male), who made a mistake in our bill & didn't even apologize! Poor interior: the entire place needs RENO ASAP VERY DIRTY SMELLY washrooms Food is overpriced, portions are tiny. If you ask for an additional piece- THEY WILL CHARGE YOU EXTRA! Don't waste your time & money.

Our Easter visit to the Breda restaurant in Amsterdam was a culinary highlight. The food was simply outstanding, with impressive combinations and variations that made every course an experience. The wine went perfectly with it. The service was a bit behind for a while, but it didn't bother us - we had plenty of time. The price-performance ratio is exceptional and makes Breda an absolute insider tip. We will definitely come back on our next stay in Amsterdam and can highly recommend the restaurant!

For our final dinner in Amsterdam and our engagement dinner, we decided to go to Breda. Big disappointment. Portions were extremely small. While portions are normally smaller on prix fixe menus, these portions were way too small for the price. The tables were extremely close together. So close that we couldn’t get out without disrupting the couple next to us. The waiters/waitress did not seem to know what they were doing or what they were serving.One of our dishes was sent to a different table so we had to wait longer once they finally realized. Besides that one wait, it almost felt like we were being rushed out. The servers would chat and laugh with all the other tables but when they got to us they would just place the dishes down and walk away. The only comments we got were “you’re crushing it” or “you two are on fire tonight” without much emotions. What does that even mean? It almost felt as if they wanted us to leave quickly since we were Americans. The icing on the cake was when we were charged for two glasses of champagne that we didn’t order. The reasoning for why it was given to us was because they think it’s a good way to start the dinner. After a disappointing dinner we ended up going to the local grocery store and had a better meal. I would not go back and would not recommend. Overrated is an understatement.

We had the seven course menu. Two or three courses were pretty good, the others were exceptional. Veggies and fish make most of the menu: very tasty combinations, from subtle to intense. And the amuse was amazing. Great wine choices, very nice cheese, and grappa. I loved that I didn't have to choose; you can leave everything to them, and you'll have a great night.

An eclectic experience that I would truly like to forget. Desiccated goat skin for an appetizer and it only went downhill from there. Raw mackerel. Extremely fat lamb with extremely little edible protein/flesh/meat. Strangely prepared beets that were extremely potent in taste. The ending final desert was the ONLY decent experience of the evening. Far too expensive for a truly disappointing “experience”. I would give zero stars if possible. Not fun. Not good. Just horrible. PLEASE AVOID THIS PLACE!!!! PLEASE!!!!!

Really excellent food, I can see why Michelin has their eye on this place; get in before they get a star, the value for money at this point is unbeatable! The service is excellent and the wine program is so on point. Would absolutely go back and expecting further recognition of this excellent restaurant.

My boyfriend booked this restaurant for our date and we were both incredibly unimpressed. The food, was nothing to write home about and portions are absolutely tiny. They’re smaller than any other multi course meal I’ve had in my life, even compared to restaurants with Michelin stars. The 7 course meal we chose took 2.5 hours to finish but the food was so small we finished it in seconds. Every single dish was obnoxiously sour and doused in foam with nothing particularly innovative. Our service was just so so and he kept forgetting to give us water. When we were paying he kept pushing us to leave a tip despite the poor service. We felt targeted because he seemed to only ask this to the American customers. In the end we caved and left a tip but there was no cashier or calculator. The waiter had the audacity to round up the tip by almost double. We had such an abominable experience and it was a waste of our first meal in Amsterdam. Only saving point was the restaurant’s decor but take your money somewhere else.

There's something wrong in the restaurant. That is the tiling of the men's toilet. They could clean it a little more often. And the food is quite ok. Little meat.

Breda has made it to one of my few fav restaurants in Amsterdam. You can chose from a menu of 5/7/9 - and every single dish was meticulously prepare mixing fresh ingredients with simple but well balanced flavors. I visited on a summer day and sat outside along the canal, it was an amazing experience through and through.

The love seems to be gone: food is good, service is friendly but it feels like a done art.

4 course lunch, more than excellent except for 1 thing and that is the size of the portions or the lack of things "on the side". Only a piece of fish in an excellent sauce, delicious and two small pieces of meat in yet another sauce to serve as cook to be jealous of, from the art! But with only two pieces of bread that is a bit too little for me and 3 of the 4 other dinner companions. Will I come back here? If I have to be in Amsterdam, that could easily be the case.

This is the only fine dining restaurant I’ve visited in this city, and it was a super cool experience. The flavors are strong and bold, like heavy metal music, and they soften in the later dishes, creating a harmonious meal. I tried many new ingredients, like guinea fowl and North Sea shrimp. The taste, vibe, and wine selection were all great and paired perfectly with the meal.

Our experience at Breda unfortunately was TERRIBLE! Me and my girlfriend are tourists in Amsterdam and we were very excited to get a reservation at this restaurant, upon arrival for lunch on Dec 29th, 2022 the lady attending the tables took our coats and pointed us to our table at the front of room. We were left waiting at the table for 25 mins without receiving a menu, water or a pre-order for drinks. There wasn’t even an acknowledgement of our presence. I really don’t want to make this review about race or racism, but my girlfriend and I were the only non- caucasians in the entire restaurant ( I am Afro- American my girlfriend is from the Philippines) there were 5 other couples in the restaurant at the same time, sitting right next to us and all of them got acknowledged and served ahead of us (plates were delivered to them, wine refilled, orders retaken several times, to all 5 tables) all this happening in front of us for 25 mins without any sort of attention or acknowledgement of our presence. Additionally, a party of 4 caucasian men that arrived 15 mins after us, were seated, handed menus and their drink orders were placed while we were still waiting - not even a glass of water. Finally, another server who happened to be black showed up (we think he might have been just starting his shift since we didn’t see him upon arrival) we were able to get his attention for some service and he was kind enough to bring us at least water. This was 30 mins after seating happened. No menu options or drink order was taken at the time. At this point, me and my girlfriend weren’t feeling good about the experience, we asked for a refund of our reservation deposit and left the restaurant. We really hope this restaurant is not discriminatory against people of color, we had the best intentions and were really looking forward to the food. Based on our experience we don’t recommend it and if you are a person of color, please stay away to avoid a possible discrimination.
