Just barely made it to the front row. #cheers The youngest waiter, not quite having mastered social skills yet, takes the order. Hot chocolate with real whipped cream and an oat cookie arrive quickly and taste delicious. The flat white with firm milk foam is also excellent. Nice spot, as Mariaplaats is a lively square. The only downside: the large stream of cars from the nearby parking garage. And with the wind blowing in the "right direction," you can't miss the smell of the underground trash cans.

Swedish place, really good latte macchiato. I didn't try the desserts, but some of them looked very inviting.

Toilets grubby and the floor certainly not clean. There was paper lying all over the dishwasher next to the toilet entrance. Not really hygienic. Staff wiping their noses with their hands and then picking up cookies. The coffee was delicious, but it could be cleaner.

Absolutely love this place. As a Scandinavian it felt super homey, and the patties and coffee are delicious. 100% recommend going here!!

Had a very tasty lunch! Friendly and helpful staff. It had a good atmosphere inside. I had the gluten-free batatas and enjoyed them.

What a good espresso, a lovely owner from Sweden who runs a beautiful business with her family and wife opposite a historic building, namely where my father's business, De Dom Grove and Hunfeld, was located on Mariaplaats in Utrecht. Highly recommended, the espresso was amazing, and a nice conversation about emigrating. Top notch.

Came here for a quick bite, had a ham & cheese toast and a jam & butter toast – both super tasty. The coffee was great too. Barista was friendly, helpful. The interior felt a bit dirty, could really use a refresh but would still recommend this place.

Cozy (living room) atmosphere, delicious coffee, homemade pastries, and always a warm welcome. Highly recommended.

Let me start on a positive note: - Very nice place, especially the terrace is pleasant - Delicious coffee (if you like a slightly tart coffee bean) - Fortunately, a surprising menu with, at first glance, appealing sandwiches - Free tap water (with or without fresh mint) available through self-service - Friendly staff What was disappointing: - Staff were mostly busy with each other and had to be clearly "called" - Sandwiches: very little bread with a lot of lettuce and a huge dollop of sauce on top; it looks fancy but it's very little; a waste of time - Sandwich prices are high for what you get; poor value for money - Ramshackle restrooms that weren't properly cleaned In short: we'll be skipping this place from now on.

Really delicious coffee here! And all sorts of goodies to go with it. A great lunch menu too, much more fun and delicious than the regular bagels & beans on the side. Also, grab some sourdough bread to take home, slice it, freeze it, and you'll be happy all week. Everything with a Swedish twist, highly recommended!! ♡

Enjoyed a delicious cappuccino outside, and a "Blondie," which combined several delicious flavors in one pastry. Nice, lively square too. Unlike "bagels and beans," there are cushions on the chairs 😃

Last Sunday I enjoyed a delicious lunch in this fantastic lunchroom with my beautiful 4-year-old daughter. What a nice place! The cheesecake is definitely recommended – so delicious that I almost wanted to order another one! But what really makes this place special is the cordiality and friendliness of the staff. They were super sweet and made us feel completely at home. In short, a great thing for anyone who values ​​quality. You really notice that there are hardworking people behind this who are passionate about what they do. This deserves 5 stars without a doubt! 🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟 I will definitely come back!

There were multiple people working a half full restaurant and terrace, yet it took almost twenty minutes to get our drinks. We then weren’t asked about food (during lunch time) nor did we get enough menu’s for us all. When your prices are as high as Broodnodig you can’t have people waiting this long for their orders and have the service being that lackluster. A bummer for a place I used to love.

Bad. Small portions and expensive. Unfriendly staff. A lot of noise due to cleaning during opening hours. Not value for money. You're better off going somewhere else.

Price-quality was very good. Extensive and interesting menu. Gooey chocolate cake is absolutely delicious, could eat this every day. Nice service and nice location.

Best place to rewind after a busy week! The location is perfect on the Mariaplaats in the middle of the city centre. It’s very cozy inside, but the outside terrace is also great because of the big trees. The coffee is always perfect and the food is very nice, they serve a lot of Swedish delicacies. Both their Swedish pastries and breads are great! Pricing is very reasonable, especially for Utrecht. 😉😌☕️

I don't visit Utrecht often but last sunday I did. We sat outside and though this was the only table available, showing how busy it was with the sunshine out and about, Nils or Niels came over quickly and treated us in a delightfully hospitable manner. The homemade ice tea with hibiscus is delicious and very refreshing when it is warm, would definitely recommend!

They are quite busy so during two visits they did not have all the sweet snacks. The staff told us this very kindly. But you have to be lucky or be on time. Furthermore, there is a pleasant atmosphere. The coffee was fine and there was oat milk. However, the coffee was in a glass, while I prefer a mug, and there are no cookies or chocolate with the coffee. The chairs and sofas were fine. All in all, I think it's a good tent, but there are better ones out there.

Excellent healthy sandwiches for a good price and friendly staff. Only the tables are a bit on the small side. There is a notice on the door stating that there is a laptop ban between 12:00 and 15:00, so keep an eye on that.

Unimaginative sandwich. Rock-hard toasted dry bread, mountain of cheap iceberg lettuce with discolouration here and there. Slice of sauce under an almost blue hard-boiled half egg. After 2 bites I became so miserable. I didn't need it anymore. In the end, compensation was the end of the road. Too bad that when a customer criticizes, a defense takes place. I'm afraid they like it themselves.

Het ziet er heerlijk uit, maar niet als je even snel wat mee wil nemen voor kantoor. Na lang te staan wachten, volgens mij stond de mevrouw buiten te praten, ben ik maar weer weggegaan. Volgende keer beter hopelijk.

Der Kuchen war sehr lecker, die Toasties eher basic. Der Kaffee war an sich gut, aber der Eiskaffee war leider auch nur ein leicht abgekühlter Kaffee mit ein paar Eiswürfeln. Alle Bedienungen waren dafür aber super nett und hilfsbereit! Ein letzter Minuspunkt war innen das Ambiente, da es eher ungemütlich und eng war. Als wir auf die Terrasse umgezogen sind war es wiederum netter eingerichtet, aber auch das Wetter hat seinen Teil beigetragen :)

Ik kom hier vaker maar de laatste keer was zo slecht dat ik hier niet meer heen ga. De glazen, servies en tafel waren vies. Nadat ik om een schoon glas had gevraagd, kreeg ik alsnog een vies glas. Ook was het broodje erg taai. Ik heb dit doorgegeven en later hoorde ik het personeel hierover lachen en zeggen dat dit niet waar was terwijl ik op de wc zat.. niet erg professioneel. Vervolgens heb ik kenbaar gemaakt dat ik dit hoorde maar de eigenaresse was er absoluut niet mee eens. De manier van communicatie was niet prettig. Ik heb nog nooit een negatieve review achtergelaten, maar dit was wel een erg bijzondere situatie en een optelsom van matig eten en slechte service.

Prima broodjes maar bediening echt onder de maat. Vieze tafels, continue om aandacht vragen, bestellingen duren lang. Ik zou het niet aanraden.

De Mariaplaats is een plein in Franse sferen met als parel Broodnodig. Geweldige koffie (Italiaanse kwaliteit) en op Zweden geïnspireerde lekkernijen. Ook voor lunch! Wij proeven de latte macchiato havermelk (gewoon top) en de flat white (perfecte combinatie sterke, krachtige koffie met zachte volle melk). Erbij een Jitterbugg (brose boterkoek).

Lovely location. Delicious apple & rhubarb cake/pie.... great coffee!

Wir haben im gegenüberliegenden Hotel genächtigt und haben das toll gelegene Café mit Frühstück entdeckt. Super freundlicher Service. Irgendwie scheinen die Utrechter Menschen sowieso immer freundlich zu sein. Gerne wieder und können es gerne weiter empfehlen!

Broodnodig is a small lunchroom located on the edge of the center and within walking distance of the Dom-Tower. Unfortunately, the interior is not inviting and definitely needs a refresh. Menu/Lunch is neat, but price quality is just right. It's in this sense, especially because of the somewhat boring setting, not to price your own out of the market. More than fine for a quick breakfast or lunch, but we won't be back after 1x. Unfortunately just not special enough.

Heerlijke en gezellige ervaring. We hadden de Kladdkaka taart en de worteltaart. Beiden heerlijk vers bereid. De Hot ginger is ook zeker aan te raden op deze koude dagen.

Lievelingsgerecht is toch wel echt een broodje Bullen. Hoewel er nog veel meer andere lekkere gerechten op de kaart staan, is dit toch wel echt een topper. Daarnaast zijn alle zoetigheden op het menu ook aan te raden. Heerlijk! Ze hebben ook erg goeie koffie en voldoende keuze als het gaat om thee.

Een gezellige zaak. De producten die je kan bestellen zijn erg lekker. Op het moment dat wij er waren was het personeel onderbezet. Hierdoor verliep het wat rommelig. Ze kwamen soms heel vaak Langs met dezelfde vraag of er moesten lang wachten voordat we onze bestelling kregen. Personeel was vriendelijk en we hebben alles gekregen wat we wilden. Locatie is heel mooi!

Niet aan te raden. Te harde broodjes. Suikerpot was stuk. Stukjes glas op de grond. Wilde naar de toilet,maar daar aangekomen moest ik bijna kotsen ZO SMERIG.

Niet aan te raden. Het duurde superlang voordat de ober de bestelling kwam opnemen en langs brengen. Ook kregen wij iets anders dan we hadden besteld. Dit was in eerste instantie niet erg (een warme noten¿ thee ipv een koude ice tea), maar we moesten volgens wel 4 euro moeten betalen voor de ice tea. Slordig. De sterren zijn voor de zweedse chocolade taart. Die was erg lekker.

A place owned by a Swedish family and offering nice set of Swedish dishes and deserts. I visited this place for breakfast and was gladly surprised. Normally, I do not expect anything special from a breakfast place in Utrecht as most such places offer generic dishes of average quality and soul-less coffee. This place was completely opposite, I tried a nice Swedish bun with cinamon and a toast with ham and cheese. Fresh and original. Moreover, the coffee was excellent. It's quality was far above the average Utrecht level. I would not agree with 4.2/5 rating, this place deserves much higher rating. Much recommended for a breakfast, but don't expect eggs, Swedes do not eat fried eggs in the morning as the wait told me.

Gezellig tentje, zeer aardige bediening. De ober kwam meteen met een andere oplossing toen de tosti's op waren. Hele lekkere carrot cake, echt een aanrader. Ook heel fijn dat er havermelk beschikbaar is.

As I live very near to Broodnodig I have been here a few times. To start, I like the Paros sandwich which has feta in it, which, together with the caramelita (a vegan cake) is the only reason I came back on occasion at all. Last weekend I visited Broodnodig one last time. This lunchroom is known to take its time before being able to order and to bring your drinks/food. This time, I waited 45 minutes in total before getting my food. It did not even taste that good this time. No apologies from the waitresses at all, and the place was not even that crowded. Very poor service. This was the last time I visited Broodnodig; would not recommend at all. You can get tastier sandwiches elsewhere within half the time it takes here.

Ik nam in de eerste voorjaarszon een heerlijke cappuccino met een hazelnotenkoek. Erg lekker. Jammer genoeg duwde ik mijn cappuccino om. Wat was het hartverwarmend dat mij gratis een tweede cappuccino werd aangeboden. Dat maakte mijn dag! hartelijk dank alsnog.
