Really nice place! Went there before with a friend and her kids and they have a great play area for the younglings... Today was a date, and it felt suitable as well... Just another part of it! 😅

Do not eat here if you have an egg allergy or are on an egg diet, as there are no egg-free options for you. Furthermore, the staff are completely unwilling to consider solutions from their menu. The fresh ginger tea was fine.

The apple pie was ordinary and had relatively little whipped cream.

After initially being unsure whether a server would arrive or if we should order using the QR code, a server finally came after half an hour and served us well. The food was good, and some of the dishes were quite unusual, like my stuffed portobello mushrooms with couscous, feta, and vegetables. Delicious!

Jozef is one of my favorite spots in Utrecht. Because it's big, there's often still room. But it doesn't feel massive because there are all sorts of different corners where you can sit. Always friendly staff, delicious food, and a good atmosphere for a drink!

Ribeye came on with only one side cooked. This is a Ribeye that I waited more than 40 minutes for btw. Server agreed and returned it. Then he came and told me they are preparing my order again and told me that it will take few minutes. I asked if it they were cooking the same one again or cooking a new one. He rudely said that he has no idea, he does not know. After I want to confirm that it will be removed from the bill he tried to joked arrogantly about not removing it. My wife pasta was also had no pistachio flavor for a pasta with a pistachio sauce. Bad food, rude waiters. Why come here?

Very child-friendly with a play area, delicious food, and very friendly waiters. The price-performance ratio is also excellent. We felt very comfortable.

Friendly staff. Fun for the kids too. However, I miss a little bit of vegetables for them on the kids' menu. Even if it is just some cucumber slices or a small portion of carrots. But this was a frikandel with fries, and an enormous amount of fries too. The red snapper was tasty, but the bed of peas was soggy with chunks of leek around it. Another meat dish was also purely vegetables for garnish; not tasty. A shame.

Nice restaurant in Utrecht, we went here for drinks and a small snack, the atmosphere is cozy, and the staff is friendly.

Funny terrace on the Oude Gracht

Tip: The seating is lovely, the food is very good, the portions are average, and a bottle of mineral water costs €7 🤔oops. The owner, who was practically laughing at us, said, "Germans sit there, order food, and pay exorbitant prices." He added that the snack bar across the street, where the food comes from, is much cheaper. You can get your food from across the street and eat it at your table, which is much more economical since they charge exorbitant fees for service.

The atmosphere near Mariaplaats is fine, but the issue of being ignored until you're served and then paying 13 euros for two Le Chouffe beers that were served half-heartedly (image attached), I don't know Rick... I find it a bit unfriendly, I mean.

Good service and fine food. However, I find 12 euros for a tear-and-share bread (= 6 small rolls) and 11 euros for a soup of the day really too expensive.

We asked if our table could be wiped down. Sure! But forgotten in the rush. Then we were served lukewarm croquettes, and we mentioned this after the first of the two. The first waitress thought it was too late to do anything about it, the second seemed willing but couldn't find anyone to make it right, "it was too busy". So is it busy? Terrible service and nothing to eat.

Nice and family-friendly restaurant! Perfect for a drink, but also for a good meal. Good service and pleasant interaction with the restaurant. We went with a group of 7 adults, along with 7 strollers and babies (we had reserved in advance). This was handled very kindly and we were given plenty of space. We are very enthusiastic! I will definitely be coming back here again!

On the beautiful Mariaplaats, but also right along a busy road with a lot of car traffic. Otherwise, it's great sitting on the terrace. A Weizen, a large Weizen, and a coffee for just 19 euros. Service excellent.

Service was incredibly slow. No one welcomed us in, no one offered us a menu without being asked, no one came to take our food order so we left. Disappointed.

Very nice place, very accessible, fun for everyone. I do find 2 starters on the menu really very limited, and I think €12.00 for bread is excessive. Introduce a proper menu instead of a piece of paper and everything will be great.

Just perfect. Staff were lovely. Food was delicious and it was quietly busy.

The service is fine, but the food is a disaster. The portobello with vegetables and feta was chaos and tasted like absolutely nothing. The feta was tasteless, and chunks of burnt, old vegetables were covered with a layer (read: dumped on top) of tasteless couscous. How can anyone dare to serve something like that with a straight face?

The gin and tonic was incredibly delicious. It is a Wednesday evening and all I see around me are women between 28 and 35 enjoying a nice chat over a cup of tea. The exceptions are a few men who were clearly dragged along by their wives.

We were a bit disappointed... the place was quite cramped... behind us, a young woman was loudly telling us all about her upcoming wedding... and the waiter who served us spoke unclear Dutch... the food was passable... we wouldn't go back!

The vintage living room atmosphere at the back of this large shop certainly has its charm, but the prices are really quite high... Still, it's a nice place for a drink and it's conveniently located.

I don't think it's normal that I have to wait half an hour to get my ice tea and when I walk in and get the question straight away, it's a bit strange for me.

I find it unacceptable that I order an iced tea and then have to wait half an hour, and then I'm done with it and walk inside and then they can suddenly have my drink within two seconds.

I read on several websites that Jozef has a nice play area, so I went there purely for that reason. Unfortunately, we definitely won't be eating or playing there again. Getting to the play area with a double stroller is a real hassle. Because of the narrow entrance on Springweg, it doesn't fit through the door, even though it normally fits through all standard doors. But through the large entrance on the square, you have to climb several steps/stairs to reach the play area. Very inconvenient and inaccessible. The play area is a real faded glory, a complete mess. Nothing is complete in terms of toys, and the play boards on the wall (which are especially fun for little ones) are hung way too high, or above a table?) So strange! The waitresses have blinders on and didn't look up or around as they walked around, so I had to ask or order something at the bar. And they really don't have enough high chairs; they come with booster chairs, which theoretically can be attached to the regular chairs and then function as a kind of booster seat with a belt. Only, these have absolutely no grip, making them truly dangerous, and the staff doesn't even know how to use them. Oh yeah, and you can't even make reservations on Saturdays??? All in all, not the best experience. I hope you take these points into account, because this is such a waste! There's nothing else in the city with a play area (that I could find online), so I'd say keep up the good work. Best, Sandra

We visited with a group of 10 people and they brought us a dirty glass (there were some red stains around the edge, as if it was lipstick). We informed the waitress and although she gave us another one, the new glass was also dirty. We informed her again, and another glass was brought in exchange. They also informed us this beer would be on the house to make up for the mistake. At the end of the night, they didn't allow us to split the bill causing a lot of chaos among the group and we went home to only later realise we had paid for the drink that was supposed to be offered as well :-) I will not go back: lack of attention and very poor service.

Extremely child-friendly! Play corner and dedicated children's menu. Friendly staff in a beautiful shop, right in the city center. We'll be back!

Yesterday, I arrived at the edge of the newspaper as a stranded train passenger and asked if the kitchen was still open. The answer was perfectly fine, with a delicious hamburger and fries. The service was excellent and served quickly.

We arrived at 5:15 PM and wanted to order coffee. Unfortunately, that wasn't possible because they close at 6:00 PM, and the coffee machine was already turned off and being cleaned. So, hot chocolate wasn't available, as it was snowing outside. My daughter clearly wanted hot chocolate milk. We thought that was a bit of a drawback for a café/lunchroom. Coffee should be available until 6:00 PM. We ended up with apple juice, tea, and a beer.

I went into the bar to join my wife and son, who were already there having drinks. Naturally, I wandered around aimlessly, searching for their table among many others. A waiter (dark-haired and with short hair) rudely asked if I hadn't read the sign on the door. I said no, went to look, and it said we had to wait there. I apologized, but I hadn't read it and was just looking for my wife and son's table. The waiter again, in an aggressive tone, told me to go outside (I'm over 60 and he looked to be in his 20s or 30s). From the doorway, I had to call my wife to ask where they were instead of him helping me. I should point out that there was absolutely no one waiting in the lobby; it was mid-afternoon. When they told me, I went straight to find them, and the waiter came back to find me, saying he didn't like what I was doing—walking around the restaurant. I sat down with them, and they told me they were very happy with another waiter, the one who had served them, who was very kind and friendly (he was a veterinary student). They suggested we have dinner there; of course, I said no. I feel sorry for the rest of the staff, who I'm sure were polite and professional. We left and found another very nice place to have dinner, with impeccable service.

I ordered a shrimp croquette and I think I got a ruds croquette. I asked the waiter about it, and she checked with the kitchen. It was indeed a shrimp croquette. Mine was a shrimp croquette with pieces of beef in it... Oh well.

Huge inside, super small patio. And on the patio, you have to order via QR code. The order comes pretty quickly, but it still feels impersonal. Inside, there's a nice atmosphere. Or atmospheres, because there are different corners and spaces, creating a pleasant variety.

We had a reservation for 6:00 PM, but were seated at a table that was actually reserved from 6:30 PM. That was fine, but it didn't really feel like our table. It then seemed as if no one knew we had a dinner reservation. When our drinks were taken, we weren't given a menu or any explanation. After about 20 to 25 minutes, we finally grabbed a menu from the cupboard next to us. The rotating dish wasn't explained either, even though we saw other tables being served this way. Around 6:35 PM, we called someone over to take our order and then asked about the rotating dishes. About ten minutes after ordering, we were shocked to see a mouse running through the restaurant, less than five feet away. I saw it first, pointed it out to my friend, and he saw it too. A little later, we saw it run past again. We were very shocked—I'm quite afraid of mice myself—and also found this unhygienic, especially not for eating. We indicated we wanted to leave. The staff member didn't seem happy about it, and we had to repeat it several times before it was clear we really wanted to leave. We paid for our drinks and left without eating. I understand it's an old building (especially in Utrecht, that can happen), but seeing a mouse running around during dinner is really not okay. It's a shame, because we were looking forward to a pleasant evening out, but this was a terrible experience.

Nice place. But the main course has too few vegetables and too few potatoes. The girls' portions are small, and the men, unfortunately, leave the table hungry.

I've been coming here happily for years, both with my Breastfeeding & More mom cafe and personally. The staff is attentive and welcoming. Everyone now knows my favorite order and brings it automatically. Wow, where else can you find that? The manager is friendly and happy to help. The food is delicious, both for lunch and dinner. In short, highly recommended!

The only downside for me was a limited choice on the menu. But what we’ve chosen was great, as everything else in the restaurant

Fantastic! We were a rather challenging group. 3 small children, 6 adults, 2 of whom arrived a little later, and 1 much later, but despite all our "chaos," nothing was too much trouble. The service was excellent, and to top it all off, the food was truly delicious!

Disappointing Food & Poor Service I used to enjoy coming here with the kids and for coffee, but this was the third time in a row I’ve left disappointed. The spicy chicken was so over-marinated that it was inedible — you couldn’t taste the chicken at all. When I mentioned this, the staff- lady - response was dismissive: “I’ll tell the chef,” and then walked away. No apology, no solution. Waiting times were also longer than expected, which only added to the frustration. I don’t expect fine dining from a casual place, but basic quality and respectful service should be standard. Sadly, it feels like they don’t care about customers anymore — and that’s exactly how you lose them. I have to say that latte and cappuccino are nice …

A very warm and inviting atmosphere in this lovely café-restaurant. Plenty of seating. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The menu offers delicious dishes and a varied selection. Conveniently located on Mariaplaats, between the Dom Tower and Central Station.

Location is great, a lot of space inside and they make a decent coffee. The terrace is cosy too.

It was delicious. Definitely worth a visit.
