Nice place, beautiful terrace, but unfortunately not very comfortable chairs. Weak Aperol Spritz and the biggest downside: mediocre service. Would have liked to order three times more.

I can’t recommend the Cinnamon and Orange Tea. I got an Lemon instead 😢 The service was alright.

We wanted to try breakfast at this restaurant, we were four people and they wanted to seat us at a tiny table for two, when we asked if we could put two together the manager said no, then the very next table when four people arrived he put the two together that he would not let us do, their loss we left after coffee, the food may look fantastic but the attitude and service is bad

The Worst ever. 30 min to get a bottle of water while “preferred” customers(friends) seated 20min after us, are given 100% attention. Went across the street to Jozef’s and we were served immediately with twice as many people there.

A very nice and cozy café. They serve breakfast and snacks made with local ingredients, some of which are quite creative. Very friendly service.

The service is laughably bad. No one comes when you sit down. Went inside to get a menu. No one comes again for 15 minutes. Went inside to order and they say they are done serving lunch - at 14h, still 3 hours before closing. If only anyone (of 3 or 4 people working and walking around) acknowledged us when we sat down, we could've saved the 30 minutes waiting around.

Delicious food (shrimp brioche, wrap and cinnamon roll), but the portions were a bit small for the price – especially the cinnamon roll, which was tiny.

Actually, most of it was fine. Until my dining companion found a piece of elastic (one of those blue ones that goes around a bunch of herbs) in her lunch, and the reaction was "Yuck! Thanks for pointing that out," and we didn't hear anything more about it. Otherwise, I enjoyed my meal. It was a shame, though, that the cola was lukewarm. An ice cube couldn't fix that.

We did a day trip to Utrecht and stopped here for breakfast and it was amazing! The food was incredible, the mimosa and screwdriver were made with fresh orange juice and tasted great, and the service was fantastic! Highly recommend stopping here for breakfast or brunch if you’re in Utrecht!

We sat outside for 20 minutes. We were not helped.

I actually had lunch here in 2024 with a group of 11 girls and it was really great! I had a brioche with avocado, bacon, and a poached egg, and it was so delicious. Everything was fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. I also had a delicious smoothie on the side. 🥑🍳🥤 Additionally, the coffee was really good, and you don't find that everywhere anymore these days. The atmosphere was cozy and the staff was friendly, making it a really nice place to have lunch together with a large group. Definitely recommended if you are in the area!

I come here occasionally with friends or my parents, and when this guy works here, it really feels like popping in for coffee next door. Cafe Elize has been my regular spot for years. It's super cozy, the service is friendly, and there's always a spot available. They have delicious options for coffee, tea, soft drinks, pastries, and sandwiches.

I recently visited this café and overall it was a good experience. The coffee was really nice, well-prepared and flavorful. The croissant was just okay, nothing too special, but fine. What really stood out was the service — the waitress was very kind, attentive, and made the visit much more enjoyable. Definitely, the best part of the experience.

Terrible service. Lukewarm cola, last round at 4:30 PM, even though they weren't closing until 6:00 PM. The staff were all focused on what they were going to do after work and trying to get people out as quickly as possible. The staff also didn't know which wines they had. If you ask for a sweet white, you get a sauvignon blanc.

Elize is Amazing en vooral voor het ontbijt en de lunch. Bij toeval kwamen we daar terecht en het brood met scrambled eggs echt een aanrader en dat in combinatie met verse jus d’orange en cappuccino een heel goed en smaakvol idee en zeker voor herhaling vatbaar.

I highly recommend this café! The staff is very friendly and attentive. The food and drinks are prepared with great care. The various cakes are all wonderful. The ambiance is also unbeatable, and the other customers are many friendly locals. Definitely worth a visit or two!

One of the best cafés I’ve ever tried! The espresso and cappuccino were absolutely delicious – truly top-notch quality. The prices are very reasonable, and the atmosphere is cozy and welcoming. Special thanks to Felice, one of the staff members, who was incredibly kind and polite. Her calm and friendly attitude really made our visit even more enjoyable. This definitely won’t be my last visit here!

Wait a minute, but the tastiest banana bread ever..✨

We ordered iced coffee and toasted sandwiches. The drinks arrived quickly, but we never got the toasted sandwiches. When we went to inquire after 25 minutes, we were told that an order for 8 salads had arrived in between. The toasted sandwiches are actually ready-made in plastic on the windowsill (I don't know if that's very hygienic) and only need to be heated up in the oven/grill or sandwich maker. The salads can then be made in the meantime. It's a matter of organizing, I think. We didn't feel like waiting any longer and went somewhere else for lunch. So as far as we're concerned, a huge mistake!

Encontramos a Elize por accidente durante su estancia en Karel V. Esta es nuestra segunda visita a Utrecht y vamos a Elize para el desayuno todos los días. Hay un ambiente de moda fresco , con un equipo relajado de personal que proporcionan una cálida bienvenida. La comida es sabrosa y recién preparada y recomendaríamos los bollos calientes de canela. Encontramos la segunda ubicación de la recién renovada Elize hoy mientras estaba en camino al parque. El barista nos reconoció y nos dio un capuchino complementario. Merece la pena una visita para almorzar con una copa de vino. Gracias de nuevo por su hospitalidad y sin duda volveremos.

Breakfast in an ice box. Don't bother sitting inside if they will open all doors at 7 C just because it's busy. Beware of the scam when ordering Elize's breakfast. Coffee is included per the menu, but if you order separately you will have to pay. On top of that, rude management.

Favorite place in the city, the 'little Paris' of Utrecht. Unlike other catering establishments, the service here is always smiling. Large terrace, they work hard and always deliver quality, despite the small kitchen where they make everything themselves.

My experience there is wonderful.. Breakfast until late.. Its options are many.. The service is very distinctive and their atmosphere is comfortable.. The food is delicious and its quantities are plentiful.. The place is simple but comfortable and the outdoor seating is as simple as beautiful.. I recommend visiting it, of course, and I will frequent it 🕊️🍃 Unfortunately, the pictures are in the snap and I did not save them, but the experience was successful and encouraging. 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

Extremely poor service. After more than 15 minutes it seemed that a waiter was going to ask us what we wanted to drink. However, she preferred clearing tables outside to serving customers. Shame.

On a beautiful Sunday afternoon, after a nice walk, it was time to eat and drink something. Unfortunately, the kitchen was (already) closed and we had to switch to homemade pastries. Plan B was a blondie and carrot cake. Plus a smoothie made from coconut and coffee. The "cakes" were very tasty and the drinks were also excellent. I thought the price-quality ratio was on the high side. €19 for the above, it almost seems as if Utrecht wants to compete with Amsterdam. No, not a good measuring stick. It was also a shame that the kitchen closed so quickly. All in all a nice place to have a drink, but certainly not cheap.

Terrible servicio. Esperé 10 minutos para que me atendieran. Ordenó y esperó otros 20 minutos para que no llegara nada. Otros ordenaron más tarde y recibieron sus órdenes. No estaba ocupado en absoluto. Claramente no éramos las personas adecuadas para ellos.

After 35 minutes I walked inside. If you sit down for a while, you can order and you will be added. We walked to Winkel van Sinkel, where more interest was shown.

Large terrace, quite nice breakfast and lunch dishes. My breakfast, oeufs cocotte, was disappointing. The eggs were done, so unfortunately no soft yolks. There were mini cherry tomatoes in it and the goat cheese could not be tasted. It comes with a slice of toasted country bread with butter. You pay extra for an extra slice of bread. The service is very friendly. It's also quite nice to sit outside. But I wouldn't come back so quickly.

Elize's label says 'coffee'. An angry, angry catering gentleman told me in a snappy tone that coffee was no longer served after 4 p.m. I just had to sit on the other side. I couldn't handle drinking alcohol, otherwise it wouldn't be offered to me at all. The service was horrible. Paying for a small bottle of mineral water was also difficult. I had to pay inside. I refused because payment can also be done outside. Ultimately that was possible. €3.60 for a tiny, crappy bottle of water and I have an experience richer in my own city of Utrecht. I've been there before, it was fun then.

By far the BEST cafe I have visited in the Netherlands for both food and service. A young man served me, he was so helpful and friendly which is not normal in this country let’s be honest… coffee was good and hot (if you’re an aussie this is the place to go! They actually listen ti what you want!), food came out quick, was delicious and very reasonably priced. 100% recommend and will be back :)

Cozy spot on Mariaplein, friendly staff and delicious food. We wanted to order something from the breakfast menu, assuming that it was available all day, but unfortunately that was not possible in the afternoon. We did eat a very tasty grilled cheese sandwich and a brie sandwich. The banana bread was also very tasty; nice that it was served hot and crispy. It was incredibly busy on a Saturday afternoon, but the service was fast and the staff very attentive. Recommended!

Great cafe for breakfast, speak English, the food was excellent and if you are after an Australian type coffee Latte you are in the right place. Service , food and coffee excellent. Utrecht is a beautiful town, a must visit to the Netherlands.

A nice visitor to the café just stood up to pay and asked if I wanted to take a seat with my 5-month-old baby. When I wanted to order coffee, I was asked to leave immediately with my baby if I did not order lunch. And to think, when I worked in the hotel opposite, I recommended this place to guests every day. It makes me a bit sad... Fortunately, there are still plenty of nice places in Utrecht :)

They accept you if you eat a launch otherwise you cannot sit for a coffee. Happened today around 13.15, we asked for coffee and they said only launch.

Nice place for lunch! Had lunch yesterday and I especially recommend the sandwich with steak tartare and poached egg. Small business so not ideal with a stroller, but they also have a lovely terrace!

You pay 1.5 euros more for a gluten-free sandwich, while the gluten-free sandwich is much smaller than the normal sandwich. Paid 14 euros for a vegetarian sandwich. Tasty, but certainly not worth it

Unfortunately the service was not good the day we went. We waited 1h for 2 toasties. We had 2 cold coffees and were not asked if we needed anything more, or acknowledged. We barely had a sorry and left without our food.. If it's busy in the week-ends I wouldn't advice it!

Zeer goede prijs/kwaliteitverhouding! Ook ruim voldoende belegd. Wij hadden wrap zalm/roomkaas/biet, pita tonijnsalade en croissant truffelkaas/roerei en het was erg lekkeren voor ons voldoende! Vriendelijke bediening, vlot geholpen, leuke kaart.

Welcoming, smiling staff, which is a pleasure because we haven't had as much luck in other addresses in Utretch. We had the elize breakfast, very good, plentiful, varied. The eggs are excellent. Possibility of having an orange juice or a mimosa, accompanied by a coffee or tea. Reasonable price.

Super gezellig tentje op een leuke locatie in Utrecht. Koffie was heerlijk. Eten was enorm karig. Broodje rivierkreeftjes zat weinig smaak aan, en was niet opgemaakt. Broodje mortadella zat geen boter en cheddar op. Cheddar staat wel op de kaart.. maar bleek saus te zijn. Na het te melden werd er maar weinig mee gedaan… zonde!

Mijn favoriete plek in Utrecht. Op een prachtige rustige locatie nabij Mariaplaats ligt dit heerlijke zaakje. We dronken goede koffie en aten een heerlijke tosti - verrassend en eigenzinnig (geen saaie standaard tosti)

Wife’s and I stopped here while exploring Utrecht and had a lovely time. It’s situated in a shady part of the historic town, and the area is very charming. My wife’s caramel cappuccino was delicious and we would return if we visit the city in the future.

Super plek en super bediening! Heerlijk geluncht op een van de mooiste plekken van de Utrechtse binnenstad. Croissantje roerei is zeker aan te bevelen! Wij komen graag een keer terug!
