Yesterday we had a Christmas party here with our entire floor. It was very enjoyable. The food and drinks were well-prepared and delicious. The self-service bar was very convenient. There was also plenty of choice for those who wanted something other than beer. Despite being busy, the friendly staff kept a close eye on everything and frequently came to ask if anyone wanted another drink. The atmosphere and the atmosphere were also very pleasant.

Definitely one od the best places in the city to grab a drink!

Don’t go here for food. Drinks came immediately, beer was good, people were nice, but the kitchen did not function. Went for a quick snack and fries took 30 minutes to get to us on a slow Monday night, and were delivered to the wrong table. Fun place to get a drink but the food was not it.

Excellent food and service. Troop platter was a great taste if the Netherlands.

Big place. Also pretty popular and a lot of tables were reserved. Brewery bar so they serve their own brews on tap. Tried the Pilsner which was very well made. Staff was efficient and helpful. Didn’t try the food.

Fantastic brewery with lots of beers to choose from and plenty of bar food and snacks available. Really good atmosphere. Loved the beer. Definitely worth another visit next time I'm in Amsterdam.

Excellent beers, I recommend the tasting of 4 (perhaps to share). We had dinner, even though the Dutch mainly go there for a beer. The burgers are good, even the fried chicken sandwich. Prices are high.

Our experience could have been good because the setting is very nice, the beers are good and the food too… However, we were served by a waitress who should review the basics of politeness and welcoming customers. When she came to take our order, she didn't wait for us to finish talking, she walked to another table. We had to call her back to finish taking our order. This person is sorely lacking in interpersonal skills, if they don't like human contact, they need to change jobs urgently!

Great place for some drinks and to enjoy a pub quiz with your friends! They have an English pub quiz every week, and we attended once and had a lot of fun. I think it is very well organized and quite professional. They have a nice selection of drinks, and also some food and bites. With the pub quiz we had the burger deal - I had the falafel burger which was ok, but nothing special. However the sweet potato fries were amazing. My friends enjoyed their burgers though, so that's a plus! Buit I would recommend the place more for drinks. The place is quite spacious, but I definitely recommend making a reservation. The staff is super friendly. Would love to come back again for the pub quiz!

Great beer and snacks! The staff is friendly and quick and the whole place is very cosy.

Sat here with a group of 14 catering people. They weren't exactly in control. First we waited at least 20 minutes for the bottles of water we ordered. If food is placed on the table without cutlery, food arrives at the table 5 minutes apart. In addition, 1 person (citizen) is forgotten when serving the food. And then no action is taken to ensure that he has a citizen ASAP. After 25 minutes he finally gets his burger, which was supposed to be taken off the receipt, which did not happen. All in all, too many mistakes that really shouldn't be made.

More than 10€ for a pint of beer. 25€ the platter when there is for about 5€ of food on it, prices are ridiculously high, good service and cool place but because of those unjustified prices i will not come back, many better breweries in Amsterdam can be found with even better beers.

This place is good for drinking beer but not for food. It is little bit pricey but not exaggerated level

The place is spacious and charming, conveniently near a metro station. However, it's not easily accessible for intercity travelers due to the lack of a train station nearby, and the drink prices are on the higher side.

You should not have a time limit in a pub, right? They asked us to leave after 2.5 hours as the table is booked for another seating. This is a beer place that you want to take your time as long as you wish. But not possible here. So disappointing & wrong!

Brewery and burger place. Great range of beers of their own. The IPA is top notch. Fantastic location, lots of different types of searing inside. We settled on high tables near the bar. Good burgers! Stayed for a couple of beers. Great atmosphere. Can be a pitstop place or a session in itself. Prices ok.

We frequently go to the Tuesday English Pub Quiz and it's SO. MUCH. FUN! Quiz Chris is such a good host, and keeps the trivia relevant and engaging! The service is quick and everyone is very friendly. We've only tried bitterballen and fries, but they were both great!

I had the ravioli, which is unfortunately not recommended. Watery sauce, dish as a whole had little flavor. After 8 it is so busy that you can hardly hear each other. The home-brewed beer is highly recommended!

I absolutely loved the waiter. He spoke perfect English and made jokes. I was with a big group of friends and we arranged the tables ourselves (which apparently we were not supposed to do 😅). He made a joke about it and provided perfect service to us. The food was good and coffee was delicious.

The service and customer friendliness. Food was well prepared and it looked neat. Tip If you don't mind spicy or spicy, let us know in advance. Had sparips but was a bit over-seasoned, good for others and not for others. There is a brewery so the beer comes from there too. And there are wooden chairs, but in the restaurant there are some benches with dust covers. So highly recommended

Super tasty burger, one of the better ones I've tasted!!!! And a nice different kind of beer, we enjoyed it.

Dismal service. Staff like to chase you out of the place around 1:00 AM, but they are officially open until 2:00 AM on Saturdays. Service surly and grumpy. Beer glasses smell like dirty rinse water. Didn't have any food.

À éviter !!!!!!! Serveuse désagréable nous avons dû changer un coca en coca zéro celle ci n’a pas voulue car selon elle la commande était déjà lancé….. pour une boisson je trouve ça ridicule ! Elle est revenue ensuite à table et nous a jeter le sous verre en soufflant comportement pas professionnel ni respectueux du tout …. Les tables à côtés de nous sont également choqués certains sont même partis car attente trop longue Très déçu

Ended up here after our day in Amsterdam for a snack and a drink. Tasty beers (Honingblond definitely recommended!) and snacks in a quieter location outside the center. I will return!

November 2018. Hands down, the best burger I have ever eaten !

By far the best cafe in Amsterdam with the friendliest staff, highest quality foods, and above and beyond expectations exceeded. While not necessarily the most popular option initially on the menu, the teas come with the most AMAZING brownies. My fiancé and I first ordered one tea and took small bites of it because of how delicious and the sea-salt treats are before ordering a second tea for him, where the staff were friendly and kind enough to bring more once we asked if this was an dessert on the menu. At the end as we enjoyed our teas (with a few refills and much obsession for these sweet treats) the staff brought us out a small bowl which was so kind! It made our day and definitely we will be coming back in the future. Thank you to one of our new favorite places in Amsterdam for such a positive experience! We are so grateful and had such a nice time.

Really friendly and professional approach when booking a table for large groups (10+), super appreciated. On the spot, the service was incredibly quick despite the place being extremely busy (Friday eve). Thanks a lot, we're be back! :) One star off for atmosphere, as we sat by a very large loud group of drunk guys, so we had to shout at each other a lot, which can happen in a pub :D

Delicious smoked beer and fantastic loaded nachos

This has become my go-to place for beer and bites for a while now. Aside from the lovely atmosphere and cool vibe, the service is incredibly efficient and the staff are attentive and patient even in peak hours. The beer is super fresh and crisp and the food is decent in quality and taste. Highly recommend the double smash burger!

The food is below average and really pricey for the quality and quantity of the food. I have been twice and both times have been shocked by the price. It is outrageous. I would not recommend eating here at all. There are much nicer pubs and bars around Amsterdam with much better food at better prices. If anything I would go here for the pub quiz and a beer or two

First of all i have to say, the staff was very friendly and helpful thats why it deserves 5 stars, unfortunately the food was really bad and the prices very high, certainly the neighbourhood is hip but it doesnt justify the poor quality of the food. We order a mac and cheese that have no cheese, the hamburger was mediocre and the bitterballen extremly greasy and empty, had no filling... the nachos were simple doritos and half of the portion was crushed and with almost no toppings....if they would put their food prices 40% would definitely be "fair". I hope they can improve their kitchen, its a lovely place

I booked our team Christmas party here (20+) people. We had a space in the conservatory area. It could not have been any more perfect. Lucas and his team were super accommodating! We moved some tables around so we could all sit together. We had our own beer tap and food came out very quick. It was a perfect night - would highly recommend considering for any large/group event.

Nice place, IPAs would compete with the best American versions. Really solid. Diacetyl in the kettle sour but fruit was very good. Bock was clean and tasty, would go again.

Wat mij betreft de lekkerste (vegan) burgers van Amsterdam. Goede sfeer en lekkere drankjes. Zowel binnen als op het terras kun je prima zitten.

For my birthday celebration I was allocated half of the glass veranda at the back of the bar. I had indicated 40-60 people, in the end I invited around 45 people and I’m very glad it wasn’t 60, as the space was already too small for 45. There was a table with benches in the middle of the veranda, probably to divide the space into two, but it wasn’t really working as my guests could have used that space as well (a group of strangers was sat there most of the night). It was a very crowded situation, people were stuck standing in the doorway, etc. It would have been best to either book out the whole veranda or invite max 25-30 people to have some breathing space. I arrived 15 minutes before the party was supposed to start, and the veranda was still full with other guests. The staff got them out quickly though and offered a free bottle of bubbles to compensate for the late start. It was ok in the end, just caused some unnecessary stress as some early guests already started to come in while the space was still being cleaned. The personal beer tap is cool though, people loved it and the staff was very friendly and accommodating, keeping me updated on spend etc. All in all, really good birthday location!

I visit Troost whenever I am in Amsterdam as it has a really nice atmosphere and is popular with locals as oppose to tourists. I like that there is music on quietly - it’s not overpowering, and you can still hear yourself think and hear your conversations. The staff are always really friendly and knowledgeable. My partner appreciates the great selection of beers. I don’t drink alcohol and I like that I can sit in here without feeling pressured to drink. It’s a nice atmosphere to spend a night.

De service was ok. En als je een biertje wil drinken of een bitterbal wil eten, is dit je plek. Maar de kok en het eten in deze tent is echt ondermaats. En al helemaal voor de prijs die je voor het eten betaald. Geen aanrader.

Das Essen und das Bier hat uns eigentlich ganz gut geschmeckt. Allerdings kam es keine halbe Stunde später sowohl bei meinem Partner als auch bei mir zu einem heftigen Durchfall. Dafür waren die Preise zu teuer.

Op basis van de goede recensies keken we heel erg uit naar ons bezoek aan Troost maar je mag het voor ons eerder Troosteloos noemen. Het eten viel erg tegen, het begon meteen bij bestellen, op zaterdag om 18u30 bleken er al verschillende van de gevraagde gerechten niet meer te zijn. Hoewel we alle 6 zin hadden in mosselen waren er slechts 3 porties. Uiteindelijk dan maar iets anders genomen tot plots de ober terug kwam en de mosselen ´uit´ bleken te staan in de kassa maar toch nog beschikbaar waren. Tot de mosselen effectief kwamen, het bleek te gaan om 3 mosselpannen die we met 6 volwassenen dienden te verdelen. We kregen hiervoor zelfs geen extra borden. Dit kan toch niet? Na aandringen werden er alsnog 2 extra pannen gebracht maar daar zou het bij blijven. Het lijkt het ons dat er hier creatief om gesprongen werd met de beschikbare mosselen om er zo nog meer te kunnen verkopen. Bleek het dan ook nog om heel kleine en smakeloze mosselen te gaan. Teleurstelling alom. De chef zelf vond het allemaal doodnormaal en ´grappig´. Ik geef een 2 voor de bediening omdat de jongen die zijn eerste dag deed bij Troost als ´cadeau´ de boodschap van de ontbrekende mosselen moest komen brengen maar heel erg beleefd en vriendelijk bleef toen bleek dat wij not amused waren. Klein lichtpuntje: de zoete aardappelfrieten waren lekker. Tip 1: geef bij bestelling aan dat het om een kleinere portie mosselen gaat, en als er 2 mensen bestellen vermeldt dan dat ze 1 mosselpan krijgen om te delen en geef dan ook 2 borden. Wij waren familie maar niet iedereen eet graag met een ander uit 1 pan. Tip 2: het kan zijn dat er gerechten niet meer beschikbaar zijn, maar geef dan duidelijke instructies aan je personeel zodat ze dit al kunnen communiceren voor de bestelling opgenomen wordt. (Wel vreemd zo vroeg op een zaterdagavond) We hebben op het einde wel een korting gekregen van de zaak maar dit neemt de bittere nasmaak jammer genoeg niet weg. Onze avond is er voor een groot stuk door verpest. Dus nee, geen brouwerij Troost meer voor ons.

Best leuke tent. Eigen tapje. Goede sfeer. Prima medewerkers. Maar met 10 man eten krijgt niet iedereen het warm. Ik had zelf de vega steak gevraagd. Bleek dat de keuken daar vega burger van had gemaakt. Ik gaf aan (als liefhebber van vegatarisch en vooral vegan eten) dat ik graag een keer vega steak wou proberen. 10 min later komt deze ook nog op tafel. Maar dit leek misschien nog op eten, maar was echt verschrikkelijk. Ik raad aan, direct van de kaart. Smaakte naar een soort van gesmolten plastic vibe. Heb het de tafel over laten gaan voor verschillende meningen. Maar niemand kreeg dit weg. Gelukkig zeiden mijn vrienden dat de burgers goed smaken. Zonde van een leuke zaak.
