The mussels and razor clams were very good, everything was delicious and the atmosphere was great.

The shellfish were delicious, as was the fish of the day.

I made a reservation and paid the required deposit in advance. However, when I arrived at the restaurant at the scheduled time, I was shocked to find that it was closed. Since then, I have tried calling multiple times, sent several emails, and even went back to the restaurant in person to request a refund. Unfortunately, I have received absolutely no response or explanation. This is extremely frustrating and unacceptable. If the restaurant is closed, why are customers still able to make reservations and pay deposits? Even worse, why has the deposit not been refunded? Very disappointing experience and extremely poor customer service. I would not recommend making a reservation here unless they improve the way they handle bookings, refunds, and communication.

Amazing place in Amsterdam! At the Brut der Mer restaurant we tried incredible oysters, fresh seafood and fish, and everything was cooked just perfectly. Special thanks to the owner of the establishment for his warmth and contact! He not only recommended the perfect wine for each dish, but also created an amazing atmosphere with his jokes. We received a lot of positive emotions and were completely delighted. Wat een welgemeiden plek in Amsterdam! What a wonderful evening I had here. The atmosphere at the bar is incredibly nice and the food was truly fantastic. The scallops on the platter, in particular, looked beautiful and tasted exactly as they should. The platter of various shellfish and the fresh fries with mayonnaise were also a huge success. Everything was perfectly prepared and very fresh. This is a real asset to the neighborhood. I will definitely be back here soon for a glass of wine and some tasty bites. Highly recommended for anyone who enjoys a good night out.

Hopped on my bike to this place craving oysters. Beyond expectations! The oysters were top quality and shucked to the same standard. Also ordered the catch of the day (sea bream), grilled vegetables (also a treat), and the spaghetti fruit de mere (personally provided with gluttony by the chef). All a real treat =) The staff completed the experience perfectly!

It's a small spot with a big heart and an even bigger seafruit platter. And even though the food tasted and looked gorgeous (was that a loup de mer on the neighbouring table?) the vibe of the place is just as good and ribs of the vibe of the entire plaza. Lots of tall blonde beautiful people imbibing, enjoying, celebrating.

I was there with my colleague on 3005, initially I was a bit worrying that we have only 2 hours dining time, but turned out we spent more than 2 hours there to enjoy the food and wine. If you love wine with tasty seafood, this is a good place to dine. But if you are the person focus on the quantity rather than quality, this is not your place to go. However I would still say if the dish portion could increase just a bit, that would be prefect (as now somehow it's on the low side). Dishes are tasty, serve quick and nice wines to pair with. Didn't took photos because we can't wait to taste those dishes in below we ordered. Before we knew the plate is empty. :) CANTABRIAN ANCHOVIES / SHRIMP CROQUETTES [3 PIECES]/ CALAMARI (very soft, not chewy at all)/ GRATINATED SCALLOP / LOBSTER ROLL/ CATCH OF THE DAY. Have drank 3 wines in total and Château de Campuget 1753, Viognier, Gard is the one I like most. We had a nice evening and the young Asian staff is very helpful and friendly. I didn’t catch his name, but because of this nice experience we would love to go to Brut de Mer again to try more dishes.

So they cancelled my reservation without calling or sending an email and ruined my evening plans. I booked weeks in advance and even put a deposit for the reservation as they pretend to be a fancy place. At least they refunded it. Time to look somewhere else in AMS.

Possibly the rudest service I’ve ever experienced. Made a reservation for table on waitlist. Arrived early not knowing if table or not. No table. Sit at bar. Fine. “No oysters!” For the people with reservations. No Sancerre. No Chablis. No calamari. So what do you have? U believably rude. Nothing this restaurant doesn’t provide that you can’t find somewhere else. Oh except good service

Wonderful, fresh seafood, served by some of the friendliest, nicest and most efficient staff in Amsterdam. The team knows their wines, and is happy to recommend one to match your food, preferences and budget. A truly lovely restaurant!

One star is even too much. This place is ridiculous. If you a normal person who want to eat dont go there! This place is for wine drinkers only, who like to have some oysters in between their drink. Its not even worth to call This place a restaurant. It is a bar at most, where you can have some oysters in between. The rest are NOT even a dish, its something with very poor quality and you get very small portion so that you don't get sick. Dont go there If you're hungry. You will leave even more hungry.....

Located in central of de pijp where you smell a cool vivid vibe! The restaurant has a terrace with heater so you can sit both inside and outside. Their speciality is the selection of the oysters from Netherlands, Ireland and France. I will give the freshness of the oysters this time a 7/10. The langoustine carpaccio is amazing! 10/10 Cheese grilled scallops 9/10. Waiter and bartender are very nice young man with chill vibe. Customers who came here are somehow also very nice and chill. (Not those fine dining/ Michelin posh style) The music is good but later in the evening it’s getting quite loud that we found it’s hard to talk when you sit face to face.

The quality of the food is amazing ! Please be sure to order the oyster tasting ! Be sure to make a reservation, the place is small and always packed . The man that gives the explanation knows a lot and it is part of the nice experience. The downside of this place is that the servers are too young and lack of hospitality skills. Our food was brought all out once , starters and mains , and all they said it was this is how we do it here . Oh well.

Our Valentine's Day dinner disappointed on several fronts. We weren't informed about the €65 three-course menu until we arrived and sat down—not ideal planning on the restaurant's part. Once presented, the execution fell short of expectations for such a special occasion. The tuna starter had an odd gummy texture and lacked the flavor needed to make an impression. The main course was competently prepared but underwhelming in portion size, and the dessert felt more like an afterthought—minimal in both size and creativity. The cocktails, too, didn't justify their place on the menu. With so many restaurants elevating their Valentine's offerings, this experience felt unremarkable, especially considering what the price point typically promises.

The oysters were quite fresh and tasty. The beef tartare was €19, but the portion was tiny and tasted rather ordinary. The fish was okay, but nothing special. The pasta was really bad; it wasn't al dente at all and the flavor was bland. The grilled vegetables were alright. Overall, I wouldn't recommend this restaurant. For the same price, there are much better options.

It’s been a while since I’ve been to a memorable restaurant. The langoustino carpaccio was 🤯 Benjamin at the oyster shucking and Juan as the sommelier was great. It’s a good mix of internationalism and Dutch charm

Great place! The oysters are just right. The wine is excellent, and the service makes it a real party. The bar is the best spot ;-)

In my six-year-old review, I was very enthusiastic about this place. But an adjustment is needed; Ed (the former owner) has built a beautiful place here. And for years, this was our favorite oyster bar. We went there six times a year. But in the past year, we've seen this place decline. The old staff has been replaced by a couple of Argentinians who walk around a bit awkwardly. They play their own music (heavy metal, etc.), and one of them acts a bit pretentious and doesn't pay attention to the guests. Others are mainly focused on themselves. The food was downright bad at the beginning of the Argentinian invasion, but it's back up to par now. Despite the new wallpaper, the old atmosphere is gone. Fortunately, Ferry is still there, as a familiar face behind the oysters. But that's the only reason we keep coming back for now... But perhaps the Argentinian club will become less arrogant and think about the guests... I'm curious. It's such a waste of a place like this.

We came for a nice birthday dinner. Unfortunately, the oysters didn't come with lemon, plates, or bread. When we placed our order, we were suddenly informed that many items were unavailable. Then all the appetizers and main courses were brought out at the same time. The wine was mediocre. Unfortunately, not a good experience.

Great Spot, Product on point good tapas portions easy to share even the Pasta Vongole, so good got to try most of the items on the menu. Mussels with gorgonzola sauce was out of this world! The fresh Portuguese shrimp, tasted the same way it did when i tried it in Lisbon extremely Juicy, Sweet and a tad smoky. And the dutch Oysters extremely nice small a bit salty but on point with the salt it hit the spot! Cleansed with there Home made Beer, very refreshing

We had a wonderful meal with our host Ferry, with excellent quality oysters. The atmosphere at the bar was cozy. He explained clearly where the oysters came from and what flavors they had. He recommended a perfect wine to accompany them. In short, another very successful evening. So, based on our experience, five stars every time 🤩

If you don’t mind a lot of issues with service and you enjoy a good oyster - tapas bar I highly recommend trying Brut de Mer. Pros - everything we ate was phenomenal. The 12 oyster tasting was well shucked and the six different oysters we got to try were all delicious and unique and their preparation of boquerones was fresh and well seasoned. Similarly, their foie gras tapas plate and sweetbreads with shrimp were beyond reproach. I can also say the Scrappinos to drink were really solid if not just a little runny. However, the service was probably the worst I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Our original waiter came by pretty quick to take our order, however, he literally forgot to actually put in 1/2 of our order. It took +30 minutes to get a bottle of water for the table (we had to ask 2x after our cocktails and oysters arrived). Similarly, after multiple other tables who ordered after us received their entrees we found out our entire hot order had not been put in and so it took more than an hour after sitting to get something to eat after our oysters (which took around 30 minutes) On that note, our first waiter essentially disappeared after taking our order and we had to grab another waiter who clearly wasn’t in our area to actually put our hot order in… On top of that, when our second waiter came by to ask for final calls we put in another food order, we put in one last thing (we had been hoping to try multiple tapas plates but given how long the first hot plates took we literally only had last call to try more). 45 minutes later as the servers began cleaning out the bar and turning chairs over it was incredibly clear they forgot to put our last call in. On the positive side of poor service, they also gave us another tables glass of cava at one point and we saw them flag the server around 15 minutes later with the same frustration in where their drink was. Overall, I would probably eat here again so take that as you will about how amazing the food is. But I would definitely sit at the bar, order one thing at a time and make sure your orders are getting put into the POS system. We left hungry and wanting to try more and we felt frustrated that we were being ignored during our 1 1/2 hours at the restaurant..

Well-seasoned, exquisite dining restaurant.

Fantastic seafood spot in Amsterdam! We started with a great Pisco Sour, then enjoyed ceviche, followed by scallops and garlic fries. For the oyster tasting menu, we paired it with a crisp white wine. Finally, the steamed clams with absolutely delicious sauce (usually served with pasta) were recommended by the friendly people at the next table without pasta. Such lovely people! Clams served with warm baguette, just to soak up every drop of that amazing sauce, it was absolutely perfect. Cozy vibe and friendly service. Highly recommend!

Only go there if you are friends with the owner, otherwise plan to go to a restaurant right after to get your fill. The quantities are ridiculous. And the service? Waiting for my friend's dish, my dish getting cold I eat it, and once finished my friend's dish finally arrives? What's the concept, eating one after the other?

We came with some Spanish friends. Oysters and coquilles were delicious, the shrimp croquette was ok, but the lobster bisque did not had so much taste and was thin for a good lobster bisque. And I do eat regularly lobster bisque, so maybe I am spoiled. Service was fine, only it took a long time before we finally had our food. I think they forgot our order . Was ok for one time, but we will no be back.

What a joke. Showed up Friday with a reservation. Got sat on a corner ledge they pulled stools up to, and promised “we’d get a table soon,” while two girls ripping cigarettes across three full tables were left alone. Ordered, got our champagne 30 minutes in, oysters 50 minutes in. When we asked what the oysters were (it was the “tasting experience,”), the waiter had literally no idea. No plates, napkins, spoons for the mignonette. 70 minutes in we got our “lobster bisque,” which was 15 euro a bowl for lobster flavored water with no meat in a mug. We payed 130 euro for the honor of finally being pushed in the middle table that the girls were still at, after having to beg twice for the table that we reserved, and the bill. One of the worst dinner experiences I’ve ever had in amsterdam - and also outlandishly expensive. Under trained staff, completely mediocre food - you’re paying a 3x premium because the indoor area has an awesome looking bar.

Yesterday I was back at Brut de Mer in De Pijp, where I used to come so often. It immediately felt familiar again - that French atmosphere, the pleasant bustle, the oysters that are still great, and the bartender who fortunately still works there. Very nice to see him again. However, I noticed that the fish dishes were a bit disappointing. They were small, quite greasy and mostly fried or baked. The fries, on the other hand, arrived on the table in a large pile. That felt a bit out of proportion and to be honest I thought that was a shame. Some fresh counterparts or more vegetables could have really brought the whole into better balance. I also missed a bit of finesse – just that little bit of extra attention, love and elegance that I used to need here. Fortunately, the wine list remains top notch and I really enjoyed it. It was nice to be back for a while. Although next time I think I'll just stick to a good glass of wine and a few tasty oysters – and of course there's nothing wrong with that.

What an absolutely wonderful place! Brut de Mer offers a continuously changing seafood menu, depending on what is freshly available on the market at the moment. The chef shows personal interest to check if everything is to your liking. The enthusiastic staff works hard to find good wine pairings with your dishes. I tasted some very good wine! I ordered the pulpo with Kimchi and the Dutch (IJselmeer) smoked eel with apple syrup. Especially the eel was amazing, what a great combination of flavors. I will definitely be coming back to this small and cozy restaurant that is serving great food, without any pretense.

Highly recommended! Everything was very tasty and super fresh. The range of different oysters is highly recommended and the shrimp croquettes are the tastiest I have ever eaten. Ordered them again as a conclusion. Different types of champagnes at affordable prices and the cocktails are also really tasty and presented in a fun way. Very cozy and atmospheric seating. Friendly and smooth service. There is also a terrace outside, but we sat inside because it was still too cold in the evening. Ideally located in better weather, it is located on a pleasant “square”.

Leuk restaurant in Amsterdam! De medewerkers van Brut de mer zijn erg aardig en professioneel. De gerechten waren lekker en uitstekend geschikt om te delen. We kregen een mooie tafel en hebben verschillende gerechten van de kaart gegeten. Vooral de tonnato vitello en de fruits de mer plateaus waren heerlijk. Vriendelijke en kundige bediening. OESTERS! en heerlijke vis op een nieuwe manier. Mooie en enorme wijnkaart. Vooral de bisque maar ook de coquille/krab is ernstig lekker.

The dishes have interesting flavor combinations and the ingredients are of high quality. The concept is sharing, so I think the dishes could only be a little larger. The wine list is also excellent, we drank a Godello.

Nice restaurant in Amsterdam! The employees of Brut de mer are very nice and professional. The dishes were tasty and ideal for sharing. We really liked the lobster bisque, the langoustines and the tonnato vitello were also good. All in all highly recommended.
