We came for a nice birthday dinner. Unfortunately, the oysters didn't come with lemon, plates, or bread. When we placed our order, we were suddenly informed that many items were unavailable. Then all the appetizers and main courses were brought out at the same time. The wine was mediocre. Unfortunately, not a good experience.

Great Spot, Product on point good tapas portions easy to share even the Pasta Vongole, so good got to try most of the items on the menu. Mussels with gorgonzola sauce was out of this world! The fresh Portuguese shrimp, tasted the same way it did when i tried it in Lisbon extremely Juicy, Sweet and a tad smoky. And the dutch Oysters extremely nice small a bit salty but on point with the salt it hit the spot! Cleansed with there Home made Beer, very refreshing

My friend and I became very ill after dining here in February. The restaurant first offered a complimentary dinner as an apology, but later denied this and ignored my follow-up. Very disappointing food safety and customer service.

Fantastic place with delicious food

We had a wonderful meal with our host Ferry, with excellent quality oysters. The atmosphere at the bar was cozy. He explained clearly where the oysters came from and what flavors they had. He recommended a perfect wine to accompany them. In short, another very successful evening. So, based on our experience, five stars every time 🤩

Everything is very tasty, the oysters are fresh, and the waitress is beyond praise - we told her our preferences, she guessed everything!!! We will come here more than once!

The dishes were creative and the flavors were quite good. The grilled fish, however, was a little overcooked, which made the meat somewhat dry.

If you don’t mind a lot of issues with service and you enjoy a good oyster - tapas bar I highly recommend trying Brut de Mer. Pros - everything we ate was phenomenal. The 12 oyster tasting was well shucked and the six different oysters we got to try were all delicious and unique and their preparation of boquerones was fresh and well seasoned. Similarly, their foie gras tapas plate and sweetbreads with shrimp were beyond reproach. I can also say the Scrappinos to drink were really solid if not just a little runny. However, the service was probably the worst I’ve ever had in a restaurant. Our original waiter came by pretty quick to take our order, however, he literally forgot to actually put in 1/2 of our order. It took +30 minutes to get a bottle of water for the table (we had to ask 2x after our cocktails and oysters arrived). Similarly, after multiple other tables who ordered after us received their entrees we found out our entire hot order had not been put in and so it took more than an hour after sitting to get something to eat after our oysters (which took around 30 minutes) On that note, our first waiter essentially disappeared after taking our order and we had to grab another waiter who clearly wasn’t in our area to actually put our hot order in… On top of that, when our second waiter came by to ask for final calls we put in another food order, we put in one last thing (we had been hoping to try multiple tapas plates but given how long the first hot plates took we literally only had last call to try more). 45 minutes later as the servers began cleaning out the bar and turning chairs over it was incredibly clear they forgot to put our last call in. On the positive side of poor service, they also gave us another tables glass of cava at one point and we saw them flag the server around 15 minutes later with the same frustration in where their drink was. Overall, I would probably eat here again so take that as you will about how amazing the food is. But I would definitely sit at the bar, order one thing at a time and make sure your orders are getting put into the POS system. We left hungry and wanting to try more and we felt frustrated that we were being ignored during our 1 1/2 hours at the restaurant..

Well-seasoned, exquisite dining restaurant.

Fantastic seafood spot in Amsterdam! We started with a great Pisco Sour, then enjoyed ceviche, followed by scallops and garlic fries. For the oyster tasting menu, we paired it with a crisp white wine. Finally, the steamed clams with absolutely delicious sauce (usually served with pasta) were recommended by the friendly people at the next table without pasta. Such lovely people! Clams served with warm baguette, just to soak up every drop of that amazing sauce, it was absolutely perfect. Cozy vibe and friendly service. Highly recommend!

Really friendly environment, love the food here, had a lovely time

Only go there if you are friends with the owner, otherwise plan to go to a restaurant right after to get your fill. The quantities are ridiculous. And the service? Waiting for my friend's dish, my dish getting cold I eat it, and once finished my friend's dish finally arrives? What's the concept, eating one after the other?

Amazing food and attentive staff! Food arrived relatively fast. Highly recommended! When it’s raining, outdoor seating may get wet despite the sheltered terrace.

Oyster, super tasty and fresh, but a bit pricey. Kimchi octopus, unique and delicious. Soft shell crabs, creamy and flavorful. Fries, it’s just fries. Razor clams, a bit overcooked and dried. Great atmosphere, and friendly service! Will definitely come back.

Most people seemed to enjoy their food and stay. We waited 35 min for our oysters and left without getting them. It wasn‘t that crowded.

Great service from the team and also very knowledgeable about the wines. We had the Normandy , Irish and gillardeau oysters , exceptional ! Also loved the scallop dish The wine list is varied and really caters for every palette .

We came with some Spanish friends. Oysters and coquilles were delicious, the shrimp croquette was ok, but the lobster bisque did not had so much taste and was thin for a good lobster bisque. And I do eat regularly lobster bisque, so maybe I am spoiled. Service was fine, only it took a long time before we finally had our food. I think they forgot our order . Was ok for one time, but we will no be back.

Food didn’t match the price and the staff seemed a bit scattered: menus took forever, and drinks never showed up.

What a joke. Showed up Friday with a reservation. Got sat on a corner ledge they pulled stools up to, and promised “we’d get a table soon,” while two girls ripping cigarettes across three full tables were left alone. Ordered, got our champagne 30 minutes in, oysters 50 minutes in. When we asked what the oysters were (it was the “tasting experience,”), the waiter had literally no idea. No plates, napkins, spoons for the mignonette. 70 minutes in we got our “lobster bisque,” which was 15 euro a bowl for lobster flavored water with no meat in a mug. We payed 130 euro for the honor of finally being pushed in the middle table that the girls were still at, after having to beg twice for the table that we reserved, and the bill. One of the worst dinner experiences I’ve ever had in amsterdam - and also outlandishly expensive. Under trained staff, completely mediocre food - you’re paying a 3x premium because the indoor area has an awesome looking bar.

I recommend this restaurant to everyone, for lovers of seafood, this is a wonderful place, super service, fresh oysters, a large wine list!)

Yesterday I was back at Brut de Mer in De Pijp, where I used to come so often. It immediately felt familiar again - that French atmosphere, the pleasant bustle, the oysters that are still great, and the bartender who fortunately still works there. Very nice to see him again. However, I noticed that the fish dishes were a bit disappointing. They were small, quite greasy and mostly fried or baked. The fries, on the other hand, arrived on the table in a large pile. That felt a bit out of proportion and to be honest I thought that was a shame. Some fresh counterparts or more vegetables could have really brought the whole into better balance. I also missed a bit of finesse – just that little bit of extra attention, love and elegance that I used to need here. Fortunately, the wine list remains top notch and I really enjoyed it. It was nice to be back for a while. Although next time I think I'll just stick to a good glass of wine and a few tasty oysters – and of course there's nothing wrong with that.

The oysters are also delicious, every one of them is delicious, super fresh, and absolutely not surprising. Other seafood is also fresh and delicious, and there is Japanese wine. The service staff are very enthusiastic, introducing the dishes carefully and patiently. Decided to come back tomorrow!

What an absolutely wonderful place! Brut de Mer offers a continuously changing seafood menu, depending on what is freshly available on the market at the moment. The chef shows personal interest to check if everything is to your liking. The enthusiastic staff works hard to find good wine pairings with your dishes. I tasted some very good wine! I ordered the pulpo with Kimchi and the Dutch (IJselmeer) smoked eel with apple syrup. Especially the eel was amazing, what a great combination of flavors. I will definitely be coming back to this small and cozy restaurant that is serving great food, without any pretense.

Food is ok, same for service, but the establishment is very small, not suitable for groups with more than 4 people. 6/10

Highly recommended! Everything was very tasty and super fresh. The range of different oysters is highly recommended and the shrimp croquettes are the tastiest I have ever eaten. Ordered them again as a conclusion. Different types of champagnes at affordable prices and the cocktails are also really tasty and presented in a fun way. Very cozy and atmospheric seating. Friendly and smooth service. There is also a terrace outside, but we sat inside because it was still too cold in the evening. Ideally located in better weather, it is located on a pleasant “square”.

Leuk restaurant in Amsterdam! De medewerkers van Brut de mer zijn erg aardig en professioneel. De gerechten waren lekker en uitstekend geschikt om te delen. We kregen een mooie tafel en hebben verschillende gerechten van de kaart gegeten. Vooral de tonnato vitello en de fruits de mer plateaus waren heerlijk. Vriendelijke en kundige bediening. OESTERS! en heerlijke vis op een nieuwe manier. Mooie en enorme wijnkaart. Vooral de bisque maar ook de coquille/krab is ernstig lekker.

The dishes have interesting flavor combinations and the ingredients are of high quality. The concept is sharing, so I think the dishes could only be a little larger. The wine list is also excellent, we drank a Godello.

What a delicious meal we had here! We sat here quite spontaneously (everywhere was full outside). We ordered a few dishes and they were surprisingly good. The portions are very generous!! Never seen before in Amsterdam. And you can eat the best calamari in Amsterdam here!!! 100%

Nice restaurant in Amsterdam! The employees of Brut de mer are very nice and professional. The dishes were tasty and ideal for sharing. We really liked the lobster bisque, the langoustines and the tonnato vitello were also good. All in all highly recommended.

Had dinner here tonight with a group of 12 people. We got a nice table and ate several dishes from the menu. The tonnato vitello and the fruits de mer platters were especially delicious. Friendly and knowledgeable service!

Have actually just finished the main course and desert is coming but couldn't wait to review. Delicious sea bass ceviche as a starter, perfect taste, perfect vinegraite. Main course whole brill grilled with beurre blanc and small capers. Service super atmosphere good. I wonder what dessert will be....but I'm already looking forward to it.

Bizarrely delicious food here. After eating here for the first time, I can already say that this is my favorite restaurant in Amsterdam. We like to stay in Spain because of the seafood dishes, but here you can eat that too and perhaps even better. Super creative pulpo, really tasty! Oysters also great! Amazing seafood with a great vibe. Make sure to make a reservation in advance because it’s a bit small in there. Everything on the menu is for sharing, and they were all so good and fresh. The oysters came from all over (French, Portuguese and Dutch). There is a bit of wait for food, so just be sure to not have plans immediately after!

I thought this place was way too busy. Price quality not okay. Too expensive for what you get. Pretty tasteless. Except for the oysters. Those were delicious. But yes, that is a matter of good purchasing and not about good cooking. They were 5 euros each.

For me they are the best Oyster place in Amsterdam. Good varieties, decent price, nice offers. In addition, cute place, cozy outdoor seating and friendly staffs! They also have other seafood if you are not a big fan for Oyster. Price is not cheap, but once you have it, you know what you pay for and it totally worth it.

A place of exceptional pleasure for connoisseurs. Highest quality small but best seafood leaf. 6 types of oysters, each better than the other, already perfect. Razor clams, langoustines, scallops, crabs, vongole, etc. It is the quality of the ingredients that is a delight; they are chosen from the best of the best. All preparation with maximum preservation of the taste of the main ingredient, no dominance of unhealthy sauces, sugars and frying. Excellent selection of wines (eg Chablis by the glass). The desserts are also chosen very professionally, literally producing fireworks of happiness for the taste buds with their final accent. The service is attentive and even touching. We tried several upscale restaurants in Amsterdam, but this one will definitely become our favorite.

My friend and I are on holiday and decided to try this fish restaurant; what can I say, exquisite food of excellent quality (I rarely eat fish but this was EXCEPTIONAL), very kind and professional waiter, I compliment all the restaurant staff, especially the chef, I hope to return soon.

We tried lobster sandwich, surf and turf, helibout fillet and the lobster soup. All delicious! The staff is very nice and kind. Specifically Job is great, hope he recieves the applaud he deserves♥️🍻

Just eat oysters. The rest is substandard. Especially when it comes to cooking something or adding sauce, it makes me wonder if the chef doesn't even have the basics. The only reason I'm giving it 2 stars is that the raw oysters were delicious and the staff were really friendly and nice.

What a fantastic place, haven't had such a good meal in a long time! The oysters, razor clams, tuna..... we ordered several dishes and not one disappointed. The incredibly friendly service has a lot of knowledge about what they serve, really great!

Nice restaurant with a lively atmosphere to enjoy oysters and some other sea food. The only problem is that sometimes waiting gets too long (even more than 45 minutes) between dishes. Wine list is nice, with a couple of interesting choices. Overall, quality of the food is quite good.

Atmospheric and friendly staff!

La comida era genial, basada principalmente en platos medianos para compartir. Pescados y mariscos. El ambiente era urbano y fresco, con un ambiente animado y la zona también era una zona de paso con un montón de bares y restaurantes. La única razón por la que no le dimos a este lugar un 5 es por el servicio. La cocina era caótica y el servicio estaba claramente muy estresado. Pedimos ostras antes de nuestra red, y esperamos más de una hora hasta que finalmente las cancelamos y simplemente fuimos directamente a la comida caliente. Así que era más de 1. Cinco horas antes de que nos dieran comida, que es pobre. También pedimos que se quitara el chorizo de uno de los platos que no hicieron dos veces. Por lo tanto, la comida y el ambiente genial, el servicio y la comunicación no tan grande.

It was ten out of ten for sure. Lobster soup was the best that I ever had. They have variety options of fresh oysters from different regions. I fell in love with spaghetti vongole which was so creamy and with a little touch of garlic, they sent me to a different universe. All seafood was super fresh.

Zeer slechte ervaring, eten werd koud geserveerd, personeel was alleen met zichzelf bezig. Ik denk de kok ook, eerst 1 hoofdgerecht van de twee, toen de patat en na 10 minuten het hoofdgerecht voor mijn partner. Al met al, hier ga ik niet meer naar toe.

Very tasty food, but not very cozy due to the bright light.

We started our lunch on the terrace, enjoying a glass of bubbly, but when the rain started pouring, we moved indoors. Inside, we found a cozy atmosphere and charming design. The food was delicious, and our waitress was very friendly.

We had dinner at a busy Saturday night, there was only bar table available. The fish, salads, oysters were so so good! The bar tender is a master of cutting oysters - they didn’t even wear gloves to do the job and I was a little worried that they might hurt their hands however I believe they know their job :)
