I had a nice dinner at Barracuda Restaurant. The seafood was fresh and well prepared, and the staff were friendly. The terrace is a great spot to sit, also suitable for families with children. They use a unique way of ordering, which made the experience more fun. The atmosphere was relaxed, and the service was good. I would definitely recommend this place for a casual and enjoyable meal.

Excellent seafood in a nice atmosphere! I guess I had the best crab legs in my life. Everything was fresh and well seasoned. We ordered Turbot and it was cooked on point. The variety of vine is also very rich. Stuff is also very friendly. I’m definitely visiting here next time in Amsterdam.

Interesting place. I'm not sure that at these prices, queuing at the bar to order your food and drinks (and waiting there to collect your drinks) is really the vibe. But it would be OK, if the bar were able to get a simple drinks order right... ordering an amaro soda and being asked "which soda?" (soda water, babe) and then being served an amaro without any mixer... table service was good, bar service not. Food also a mixed bag - some dishes like the sad spinach and the gambas with mayo were not really doing much in terms of flavour, but the scallops were to die for and the sgroppino is a KILLER dessert. We had two each. I probably wouldn't go back.

The food is deliciously cooked and served on small plates. There's no service table; you order the dishes at the bar, and they are then brought to your table. The selection of dishes is excellent, with probably around 30 dishes to choose from. The portion sizes are convenient for trying new items without committing to a full dish at full price. The seating arrangements are comfortable, and the overall impression of the restaurant is great.

We did not enjoyed our time there and that make it expensive. Worse frite potatoes ever. Kids without experience an vocation will serve you fish as a Mcdonalds. Some recomendations in Amsterdam for eating fish?

I went there on the recommendation of a local friend. I didn't have a reservation but I was able to find a table. The sweetest employees I've ever seen are here. Everyone is incredibly nice and polite. The food was also very good and definitely affordable.

Amazing food! In short: The food is divine, you laugh, you drink well, and you’ll definitely come back. 🤩 this is what I do. Top marks, no doubt about it. Generous portions, beautifully presented dishes, but without those over the top “fake fancy” touches. Here, you eat seriously good food, no unnecessary frills. The staff is friendly and cheerful, making you feel right at home. And the prices? Fair, especially considering the top notch quality of the seafood.

Cosy, tasty, fast, great price. Today we ate here for the second time and I really like the low-key atmosphere! Unfortunately, this time we were a bit disappointed; we wanted to go inside from the terrace, because it was starting to get really chilly. When we asked the hostess about this, she reacted bitchy - we knew very well that we were not allowed to go inside from outside, right? No. We didn't. But the message was clear, so we shivered on the terrace again. In the end, she did come and get us, and we got a table in the restaurant. But then we had been wondering for ten minutes what we had done to deserve this nasty reaction. Of course, we understand that not everyone from the terrace can just get a table inside, but this was really unnecessarily unfriendly. In the end, it was nice that it was resolved this way.

Impressive how well everything runs even when it's so busy!

We had reserved in advance, but unfortunately, our experience started off poorly. The person who greeted us was rude and unprofessional, which immediately gave us a bad impression. There’s no table service—you order at the bar, and they bring the food to you. That wouldn't have been an issue if the food had been good. Unfortunately, that wasn’t the case. We ordered a salad, spinach, and mussels. The mussels were small, bland, and completely lacked flavor. However, the worst part of the meal was the fritto misto and the kibbeling. They were clearly not fresh—likely frozen—and drenched in oil. It was so unappetizing that we left the €30 dish untouched. In total, we spent €75, and it was absolutely not worth it. I'm honestly surprised this place has any reputation for good food—perhaps it appeals to people who don’t know what quality cuisine really is. A very disappointing experience. I will not be returning and do not recommend it.

A delicious fish restaurant in Amsterdam-Noord, with surprisingly good prices. The quality is excellent: everything is fresh and there is a wide choice of different dishes. You can sit comfortably both inside and outside. Inside they also have nice decoration. The staff is incredibly friendly. When something accidentally went wrong with my order, this was resolved immediately and neatly. A really great place where we will definitely come back more often, we ate a real whelk as Noord see Lights;)

Super nice place with maybe the best fish in Amsterdam. Outside on the terrace it felt like the South of France. Would absolutely recommend!

Had a great meal in this large restaurant. Despite its size, you don't feel lost at all, because when I was there with a group of seven people, it was pleasantly busy. Good, informal atmosphere, like you also encounter in fish restaurants/establishments abroad. Barracuda has a handy ordering system and you can get the wine yourself at the bar from friendly employees. Of course, a nice varied fish offer. And what is also nice: you can park well next to Barracuda.

I was really disappointed with our dinner last night. High price for small plates.....but if the taste/quality was good, I wouldn't have minded. The frito misto was so far fried that it was almost inedible. And....not a sauce in sight. The sea snails were like rubber and tasteless. And the octopus salad only had 2 pieces of octopus in it. Just disappointed......

A nice place to eat different seafood. Most of the dishes are delicious and the prices are reasonable, but as a Mediterranean, I didn't like Octopus. The wine menu is rich but a bit expensive It is a bit too crowded, so it is noisy, but you can talk to the person next to you comfortably. I don't recommend going without a reservation. Don't even think about access without a vehicle.

Cool atmosphere, some things were really tasty like the fried vegetables and choco mouse, but others I found a bit less. I didn't think the kibbeling was really well seasoned and the scroppino was really bad, I don't really understand what went wrong here. It had no taste, way too hyped up, I would definitely look into this as a restaurant or just take it off the menu

Still serving 4 months - expired butter with the bread. Even when we mentioned it to the waitress, she just said she was sorry without taking any other action.

Used to have very good seafood here. Recently been there with some friends, the seafood quality went down a lot, gamba and crab became way smaller than before. Very disappointing. Service is also so and so comparing to before. It feels like the stuff really don’t want to help you. Very disappointing that this restaurant lost its unique selling point

getting better and better, and 10/10 atmosphere

Last week I ate here again with my girlfriend and her parents and we had a great time. She wants to come back almost every week because she loves the fries, I mainly come for the fish and the wine. Normally I hate fish restaurants because they want to be fancy but often lean towards a vulgar fish cart in a ball gown. Not so Barracuda! This place gives you a cozy bib with the crab, lets the staff have a casual chat with the guests and feels more like a clubhouse. It is excellently affordable, fresh and above all delicious food. If the weather permits and you can sit outside, realize that life can sometimes be so simple and happiness is there for the taking, you just have to gather some people around you who love you and come here to eat a fish.

Lovely atmosphere and also delicious food. Hostess walks around all the time with Crab on her ear. Company also helped. Formula appealed to us. Worth repeating.

One of my absolute favorites. A totally unpretentious restaurant (in the best possible way) with delicious and affordable food. Where else can you find that in our capital? Also perfectly suited if you want to eat with a larger group/have something to celebrate. Oh yeah, and the coolest manager ever: s/o to Loes Leferink. Go Barracuda, Go!

I went to Barracuda last night and it was very nice, one of my fav in Amsterdam. Great location, underground style and away from crowds, amazing fresh and tasty food. It has its unique vibe. very pleasant and cool!

Now, 9 months later, I still go there regularly. GREAT business: a lovely restaurant with a lively but relaxed atmosphere. Barracuda has nice and friendly staff and the food is still very tasty and does not suffer from their success. I remain lyrically enthusiastic!! My review says noisy but this is absolutely not disturbing and there are also quiet spots to be found such as on the balustrade or outside. There is also variation on the menu so that it is always a surprise of what you are going to eat. Eaten there twice now. First time in the evening. Second time for lunch. Both times a success. Order at the bar, you take your own drinks to the table. Food is brought to you. Not all the time that the service interrupts you in between by asking if you want something else to drink. Really very nice. We also enjoyed the food: monkfish and octopus are highly recommended. And then I haven't even mentioned the kibbeling. Our dessert was brought to us by a robot. Service is super nice and as soon as they see an empty plate they take it from your table. So Barracuda is a must!!

I really rarely use the word mediocre, but man oh man, absolutely mediocre food. Fish is cooked awfully and sloppy- felt like seafood hospital cafeteria food. Waitress kept trying to take our plates even when we had food on them- as if she’s signaling that we need to leave. Totally understand if it’s full but there were merely a few more tables in the terrace. Overall, overpriced and disappointing.

This is apparently the only place in Amsterdam that doesn’t allow dogs—kind of fishy, if you ask me. Maybe next time we’ll try bringing a goldfish instead and see what happens. 2 stars for the existential crisis it caused our dog, but 1 bonus star because the confusion gave us something to talk about on the way home.

We celebrated our birthdays with friends at Barracuda last Saturday for lunch and had a great experience. We chose the basic set menu for our group of 20 (sharing style, which they offer for group bookings), and it turned out to be excellent value! 🦪🦐🐟 The food was tasty, with a nice variety and good quality, everyone left satisfied. Service was smooth and attentive, and we really felt looked after throughout the evening. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, making it a great spot for a casual group celebration 🫧 Would definitely recommend it for similar occasions 🥂

Great place for quality seafood and atmosphere for a family outing

Waiting an hour for a reserved table is not really possible, but we still thought it was a nice evening. The waiting podium is actually quite cute, for a quarter of an hour ;) The staff remained calm and sweet despite the chaos - we mainly wanted to let you know how professional and nice we found Amanda with this review!

We had a fantastic lunch here recently and I can’t wait to go back. Everything we ate and drank was outstanding but high marks especially for the fritto misto, the crab, and the grilled sardines. Strong finish with the chocolate mousse as well. The service was impeccable — friendly, high-energy, and efficient without feeling rushed. Impeccable vibes all around.

Heard about it many times, finally ate at Barracuda on Monday. Everything was good 😊 very friendly people, you immediately feel at home, through the system of ordering and getting drinks at the bar and serving food there is a kind of nice non-stressed activity and the food is everything we took delicious, fresh, not too heavy, just good 👍🏻

The restaurant has his own stile and everything is around fish and sea. The food is delicious and fast, the staff is friendly. Make sure you make a reservation before bc is quite difficult to get a table “walk in”. Enjoy!

Yes, highly recommended again, especially when the weather is nice. Oysters delicious, frito misto great, but the mussels took the cake... those were very tasty, with lots of garlic and tomato. Very nice staff too!! Only the cocktails in lemonade glasses.. That's not possible!🫣🤣

This is just a perfect place. Good food, good formula to get your own drinks/ food ordered. It's fast and efficient. Above all though, they serve quality stuff, both wines and food. It's just all really really good.

A place where you can eat good fish; simple cuisine and good ingredients. You order by choosing from a list, you take your order to the counter, then the dishes are served at the table. If this system works for you, you will have a nice evening. I don't recommend it to anyone who wants a perfect classy restaurant service. The price is right for Amsterdam. Definitely coming back.

Food is good. You have to order and collect drinks yourself at the bar, which is a bit of a pain when you're in a restaurant. Management behaves a bit as if you are bothering them. We were given bread with packets of butter, without a knife. When I asked for a knife, she said: I'll go get it, although you can also just dip. Conclusion: get better service and you have a great restaurant.

don't get the concept. feel like going to a school canteen, queuing to get drinks and order food. setting is was unpleasant, not comfortable. food quality was good but not the place to come for good dining experience.

A bad place to relax and have dinner. Barracuda is a fast food concept trying to be "chic" in an industrial area. With very small options and portions some kids with no vocation will serve you the plates but they will leave dirty ones. The worst frozen potatoes in amsterdam. The bread is from jumbo.

What a nice formula. You get your own drinks at the bar and order the snacks you have selected, which are delivered to your table. Delicious fish snacks that you can easily share with each other.

It’s a cool restaurant in a big old warehouse, great in the summertime when it’s fully open! The hustling and bustling of the large place makes for a good atmosphere. We were helped quickly and since you have to order at the bar, you get drinks and food relatively quickly. We were there with a large group and the group menu was varied. They were also able to accommodate some dishes for dietary requirements. Most dishes were ok, but there were some that were enormously salty (hence the 3 stars) - things like fries, spinach and octopus which really should be fairly easy not to over salt. Was a bit of shame!

I've been living in Amsterdam for 9 years, and I can honestly say I've never had a seafood fry-up this good. I'm Italian, and this place is on par with sitting on a terrace by the sea in Italy. The fish is incredibly fresh, perfectly crispy, and the portions are more than generous. The quality for the price is absolutely unbeatable it's rare to find something this authentic and satisfying without breaking the bank. Thank you for such an amazing experience. I'll be coming back every weekend when the weather is nice. This place has truly become my go-to spot for seafood. If you're in Amsterdam and love fish, this is a must-visit!

Small snacks, share dining. Low threshold amount

The food was generally good but the prices are out of control. 10 euro for 2 miniscule croquetes, 10 euro for 4 tiny fried sardines... It really detracted from the experience. It is also a little weird to order food at the bar while there are waiters coming over to explain how it works. Why not take our order too? But the worst offenders are the chairs. We were there for about 2 hours and we both broke our backs on chairs that were probably banned from middle school classrooms 40 years ago. Lower the prices a bit, increase the service a bit, change the chairs, and then Barracuda would be a restaurant I would highly recommend.

Sometimes a place wants to be more than it can handle. Barracuda tries to be playful and innovative, but loses its guest along the way. The ordering system feels cumbersome and distant — a piece of paper, a queue, and little room for real service. The fish was properly prepared, but the experience surrounding it remained messy: a noisy space, a chaotic organization and an atmosphere lacking connection. A reservation for a group suddenly turned out to be untraceable. And the 'VIP option' felt more like a gimmick than hospitality. For those looking for attention, peace and refinement — this is not the right place. Sometimes skipping also means choosing quality.

Very nice for a large group of friends

One of my favorite restaurants in Amsterdam, specially on a sunny day! Every item on the menu is fresh and tasty, but if I had to choose just one, it would be the Octopus Alla Plancha. Great orange wine list and dessert menu. Friendly staff, delicious food and awesome ambiance. Highly Recommended.

Delicious (fish) dishes in a hip, but casual atmosphere. Large industrial space with quite a lot of (small) children. Nice menu with pure, good dishes and ingredients, but not pretentious. (Role of) the ministry is different. You order your own dishes and drinks at the bar. You take drinks with you immediately and food is served (quickly), but often at the same time. So take a break if you want to eat different courses. For birthday guests they have a robot that comes to the table with "fireworks" ice cream: a nice concept.

Vibes are amazing, staff is great and represented by Loes who’s even more amazing than you can expect! Just pure kindness, excellent and fresh food, total good vibes and beautiful atmosphere: it’s totally an escape in Amsterdam Noord!
