A great place to eat fish and shellfish. Plenty of space between tables, good service (although a drawback is that you have to order yourself at the bar with your table number), fast service, and a big plus is that they're open for lunch.

Food is great. Wines are pretty cheap for the quality offered. Staff is friendly but nothing exceptional since everything is very speedy. Concept is that you order at the bar and will be served at the table which speeds things up even more without it beeing rushed. We had 7 dishes and a bottle of wine and left pretty happy after an hour.

I was there on a very quiet Monday evening, but it was still a great atmosphere. Lovely ambiance, delicious food at a reasonable price, and very friendly service. I'll definitely be back.

We've eaten at Barracuda several times now. Every time, we've walked out with a big smile on our faces. We think it's a fantastic place! Great surroundings, great atmosphere, great staff, great concept, delicious food... we're fans. Always delicious, and always something new. It's a wonderful place to dine with family, friends, and relatives. Our kids always have a blast too!! Parking is also very convenient!

I love this place, one of my fav places in Amsterdam. The quality of the fish and seafood is high and they know how to cook it, simple, traditional but get the best out of the product. It is also a really nice space, service is fast, ordering is simple, price is reasonable considering where we are… totally worth it, a place I keep coming back to.

Ate here on 28/10 at 7pm. In a nutshell, very impressed. Nice, relaxed atmosphere inside; high quality food (and plenty of it) ; unassuming, relaxed service from the front of house team. Would highly recommend the fried cod and octopus. The prices are reasonable given the quality of food. Well-deserved 5 stars overall.

The food was fine, but nothing special. But what you pay for a restaurant where you have to order your own food at a bar, where the floor is covered in food scraps, where you sit on old school chairs (so really uncomfortable), where children run around as if it's still a gymnasium, and where you practically have to shout to hear each other, it's really not worth your time and money. At least do something about the floor maintenance or get some better chairs for your guests. Wine is served in a leaky bag with ice in it. Tables aren't neatly set, and there's no tablecloth or anything. Sad and expensive. If it were much cheaper, that would be fine, but this "concept" misses the mark.

Excellent seafood and fish restaurant with a very interesting concept for service (they have the cutest robot!). Fresh produce, delivered fast to the table, relaxed atmosphere and good wines. Will definitely come back.

Everything is super fresh. Delicious. Great concept. Friendly and fast service. Affordable. We came from Drenthe especially for this (afterward, we ended up at Brainwash Skatecafé around the corner) and it was more than worth it!

Every time you want a drink or food, you have to go downstairs to wait in line and order at the bar, bring the drinks up yourself. The food then also comes "when ready". Sidedishes arrive not with the meal but as a stand alone course. Desert is the worse: it means one gets desert right away, we all watch him eat. Then 20 minutes later the next person gets his desert. We all watch him eat... then... we cancelled the rest of the deserts.

Barracuda was my favorite restaurant. I went there every month. The atmosphere is relaxed and the staff friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, my companion and I became very ill after visiting Barracuda. ​​Because of this, I simply don't dare go back.

We had a delicious meal at Barracuda. ​​It's clear that a lot of attention has been paid to the decor of the large, open space. When we were there, we had to order at the bar instead of having someone come to our table. A bit unusual, but not disruptive. And they have a server!

Good food with unprofessional service experience… Although we had reserved in advanced for 12 people, and confirmed an hour ago, we had been waited almost half an hour at the bar. We chose group menu, but the portions were not enough, and most of the people were hungry at the end of the night. The taste of the food is good in general, and fresh. The wine menu has a lot of options but not very good quality wine are on the menu. However that is acceptable for an average restaurant. The prices are affordable and the vibe is different.

The food is fine, but either the service (ordering at the table instead of queuing at the bar) needs to be improved or the price needs to be lowered, which is quite high for so little service (e.g. 4 rolls in a paper bag with hotel butter cups with your starter).

The welcome alone was fantastic. Joey, one of the owners, was also very happy and took the time to tell a lovely story (greetings to your father, Joey :)). In fact, all the dishes were superb. A lovely atmosphere, and if you look closely, a very quirky decor with fun themed elements like a small submarine or a metal barracuda on the roof of a car. I've become a big fan and already have a few stamps on my punch card (which I accidentally left on the table). The Bella robot that brings the cold dishes and desserts to your table is another one of the owners' jokes... And then the bill. Un-Amsterdam friendly. We cycled home very happy. Thanks!

I've eaten at Barracuda regularly and never been disappointed. The food is delicious, there's plenty of variety, the price is right, and the service is friendly and attentive. What more could you ask for?

Following a positive review by a Parool journalist, we visited Barracuda during Sail 2025. We found the industrial atmosphere in the hall rather cool, and with the setting sun shining in, the location definitely had something to offer; I mean, really positively. However, the food was a bit more basic and almost subpar for the prices. Don't get me wrong; the Niciose and Octopus salads we ordered were so small and simple that we thought they were closer to €9 or €10 instead of the €14.50 each. Unfortunately, our (simple) spinach order didn't arrive, but the fries did, after a far too long wait. Therefore, the spinach was brought out afterward and not included in the bill, which we considered a good idea. All in all, that Parool review was a bit exaggerated, and we'll take it with a grain of salt in the future. The portion sizes and the actual food were a bit disappointing. Honestly, I can say that we won't be returning to Barracuda.

We were there before in June and are now back with our daughter. We are true fish and shellfish lovers and very happy with this location.

Super fresh fish in a top location

Friendly staff. The concept was clearly explained. The various dishes were delicious. We recommend the Nicoise salad, the seafood salad, and the fried lemon sole. We will definitely be back.

I had been longing to come. It is a stretch away by public transport but glad I finally arrived. Big space, friendly staff but you have to understand their concept. Because staff don’t come to your table to take your order, only to serve. You stand often times in a queue to place order by bar/cashier after you are directed to your table. You look at menu/place order by paper w/table number, walk to cashier for payment then wait to be served. Food comes relatively quick as its fried most stuff. I ordered calamari/fish mix and a side of fries. Fries were very good! Calamari wasn’t a hit. All in all its not bad. Ot was during Sail weekend and I attended a birthday drink celebration so it was ideal to combine. Oh, and they work with reservations, which I didn’t have. So was seated as a single on bar area on the plateau above which overlooked the entire venue. Meaning if you are not OK with climbing very steep stairs, don’t go. Or hopeful you get seating at lower ground. Also when I was there there were quite a few little people watching tv sitting on stairs. So kinda of annoying having to pass there 5 times asking them to excuse so I can pass. Would I do my best to return at this venue. No, I can have fish/seafood elsewhere. If i’m in Noord and crave fish probably.

Absolutely no value for money here. The atmosphere is like a factory hall, making it quite cluttered and noisy. This gave the impression that the price would be accordingly. But then again, the price is 3-star, so the restaurant receives a failing grade. Very small portions in an excessive amount of oil. Thanks to the Kaiser rolls, we were still full. A disappointment, so I don't recommend it.

What a great surprise! I was expecting a meat restaurant (because of the name, after all, barracudas live deep in the mountains at high altitude), but they turned out to serve seafood. And it was great! I would suggest renaming the place after a fish or something more fitting, but other than that, we loved it!

A truly awful restaurant; I won't be returning. You have to get your own food and drinks, which is very inconvenient with a large group. There was also sand in the shellfish, and the staff themselves admitted that this happens often but the kitchen doesn't do anything about it. The fish dishes were bland, and the swordfish tasted completely different. Not recommended.

The waiters are a bit antisocial. When I mentioned that there was sand in the mussels, shells, and razor clams, I was told to tell the owner. He said, "Tell them, I've heard it before." This makes me think the waiters' input isn't being listened to.

Good food and staff. The interior feels like you're back in school, and the music was very loud, making it very noisy and difficult to have a conversation.

I had been meaning to try Barracuda for a long time, but unfortunately, it turned out to be a disappointment. The food was very ordinary, lacking in flavor, and the portions were surprisingly small for the price. On the bright side, the staff was friendly and attentive, which made the experience a bit better, but overall the restaurant didn’t live up to my expectations.

During my visit to Barracuda in Amsterdam, I immediately felt like I'd stumbled upon a surprisingly charming place. From the outside, it looks like a rugged industrial building, but once inside, a relaxed and creative atmosphere prevails. The first thing I noticed was the original decor: cheerful cocktails with colorful straws and festive decorations, and in the middle of the room, a bubble machine that sent beautiful smoke bubbles into the air. It created a truly playful atmosphere and immediately put everyone—young and old—into a relaxed mood. The food exceeded all expectations. The dishes were flavorful and beautifully presented, and the drinks added a summery, festive touch. My pink and blue cocktail not only looked amazing but tasted refreshing and perfectly balanced. Details like these make a night out at Barracuda just that little bit more special. The service also deserves a compliment: friendly, attentive, and always with a smile. You can tell that the team here enjoys their work, and that makes the atmosphere even more convivial. Parking proved to be no problem at all, which is often a challenge in Amsterdam. There's ample space around the location, so you can park your car without any hassle. What I personally really liked is that Barracuda combines the industrial look of the warehouse with playful elements and a creative design. It almost feels like a hidden hotspot where you're constantly discovering something new.

Barracuda is a true hidden gem. The menu is packed with delicious treats, something for everyone. The location is inviting, both indoors and outdoors, and there's an incredible amount of space. It's ideal for a bite to eat with friends, family, or just the two of you. The recommendation for a maximum of 5 dishes is understandable, but that doesn't include the oysters you choose ;-).

My kids and I spontaneously decided to eat at Barracuda. We were able to get in that same evening. We had a wonderful evening with seven people. We started off outside and had dessert inside. A lovely, enjoyable evening with delicious food!

A very contemporary and modern atmosphere (very trendy and alternative) in a renovated warehouse. Truly top-notch, and not overly expensive with a bottle of wine. It's definitely off the beaten path, but definitely worth a try.

Great location and even better atmosphere. The restaurant is huge and there’s almost always a spot available, even for last-minute walk ins. The portions are flavorful but simple. Personally, I’m not a fan of ordering at the bar, especially when dining with others. You also have to wait in line to place your order, which means you’re away from the table for about 10 minutes.

I like the crab my all time favourite.

The food itself was fine, but for the price and the rave reviews—including in Het Parool—I expected much more. For example, you pay €9.50 for two mini croquettes that are literally gone in one bite. The other dishes were also exceptionally meager: small portions that felt more like a tasting than a full meal. Furthermore, something went wrong with our order twice, meaning we had to wait over half an hour for our oysters. All in all, you get very little for a lot of money. The portions were downright disappointing—especially if you're hungry or expecting value for your money.

We had lunch at Barracuda last Sunday and we had a great meal! We expected a bit more beforehand, because you literally step into a cafeteria, and that's the vibe you get. The atmosphere is very informal, with lots of families, but just like much of Amsterdam Noord, it's very hipster. It has to suit you, and I personally didn't feel very comfortable because of this. We were greeted very politely and escorted to our table. The concept was explained clearly and thoroughly. The concept is that you work in rounds, ticking off items on the menu and submitting your own choices to the cash register/bar based on your table number. Your dishes are served, but you have to bring your own drinks from the bar. They serve nice drinks and wines, but in our opinion, they're served too informally. Small wine glasses, like the ones you see at grandma's, filled almost to the brim. This doesn't give you the full wine experience. We started with delicious oysters and crab claws. We expected something different from the crab claws, as it was cold and we expected a different texture. It was great that you get a nice apron to wear so your clothes don't get dirty. The surf is fantastic! After this, we had scallops in white wine, which were delicious! You have to try them! We also had scallops and kibbeling. We love scallops because they don't need much, but this one was overcooked, so the scallops didn't really show up. The kibbeling is described by many as the best kibbeling, but we found it to be a bit disappointing. It lacked some seasoning. The fried monkfish was delicious and, along with the fries, a good way to finish the meal. I can't say whether we'll go again, but it's great that they have a stamp card where you get stamps and can also earn something. I recommend everyone to go to Barracuda! Especially if you're a fish lover!
