A wonderful atmosphere! It is such a shame that this was the last edition of the Mussel Festival, but we have every confidence that Sam will take over the baton in a wonderful way with the new concept. In any case, we look back with great pleasure on our visits and, of course, the delicious mussels of the past few years. Thanks for all the wonderful evenings! ❤️

Lovely place and the Thai mussels were delicious. But we also enjoyed the vegetarian dish, which turned out to be a preview of the new menu after September 12th. We will be back.

We had a nice dinner out with a group. The service was fast and the food was served quickly as well. The food tasted good and the gin was tasty.

Great food and drink served in a wonderful, unusual way. A variety of mussels are available and they are complimented by several choices of gin & tonic. If these don't suit you, there are a few typical bar meals such as burgers, fries, etc. Highly recommended.

What a jewel in the Westerpark! This restaurant is cozy and cute...there is a terrace so you can eat outside. The kitchen is partially open. The personnel is young and hip, but more importantly, very nice and friendly. The food is amazing. I don't eat mussels so I had the cheeseburger. This was hands down the best cheeseburger I have had in 20 years!! The mango red pepper G and T tasted like more!! 😁😁😁🍸🍸🍸

Amazing place full of energy and lovely people

Disappointing. Absolutely tasteless shrimp croquettes, mussels were pre-cooked and the sauce was just dumped on top, making the whole thing taste neither hot nor freshly prepared. Fries were cold too. The gin and tonic pitcher tasted like lemonade with a minimal amount of gin, and was served in cheap glasses. Furthermore, I realize now that the deposit for the reservation was not deducted from the bill. Fortunately, the staff was friendly and helpful. A shame, because the taste of the Thai mussels was fine, but it is just a real pity that they don't arrive hot at the table. Extremely overpriced for this quality. For this price, you are better off going to a quality restaurant. Including the forgotten deposit, I spent 120 euros for 2 people, and had a meal that I could have had better at home.

I hadn't expected an app to be able to find a good restaurant. The app calculated the calories from my photo. The ceviche had enough protein and tasted very good. The service and the space are otherwise perfectly fine.

We had such a wonderful dining experience at Mossel & Gin! We chose this restaurant to celebrate a family member’s birthday, and it turned out to be the perfect choice. We ordered the burrata, oysters, a portion of mussels for two, and some drinks. And I have to say, the gin paired with the mussels was absolutely fantastic — such a perfect combination! The food was great, but what truly exceeded our expectations was the service. When it was time to pay, my family and I were all insisting on paying the bill. I mentioned that since it was a family member’s birthday, I should be the one to treat everyone. The lovely young waitress heard this and surprised us with a chocolate mousse cake, complete with little sparklers! 🥹✨ It was such a sweet and thoughtful gesture, and it really made the birthday celebration feel extra special. Everything — the food, drinks, service, and atmosphere — was simply perfect. ❤️ Thank you, Mossel & Gin, for such a memorable evening. We will definitely be back! Highly recommended! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

We had a nice meal, but we felt the service could have been a bit more attentive. No one came to ask us if everything was to our liking or if we wanted another drink. When we had finished eating, we indicated that we wanted dessert. After more than 10 minutes, we still hadn't received the menu and decided to pay the bill.

The staff was excellent, and so was the food. This is one of our favorite restaurants in Amsterdam. We started dining there in 2017 when we traveled to Amsterdam from the USA. Always a great evening in such a lovely setting.

This was already the third time I came to eat here yesterday (even though I'm not from Amsterdam at all). The vibe is nice, the staff is nice, and the mussels are delicious. Especially the Thai ones! Delicious gin tonic, ceviche, and crusty bread with samphire butter. Perfect, atmospheric location. Music a little too loud; it could flow more in the background. But otherwise, it's top-notch. Nice service too. The website stated happy hour was on Friday, but it has been moved to Wednesday.

Great spot, especially on a sunny day! The outdoor seating in Westerpark creates a fantastic, relaxed atmosphere. Both the food and the drinks were good and definitely hit the spot. The service was fairly average—nothing special, but nothing to complain about either. Ultimately, the overall vibe and the beautiful outdoor terrace make it a great place to relax and enjoy the weather.

These people are awesome! We love their fish & chips (mussels too) and their incredible service. They are friendly, customer oriented and deliver absolutely delicious food. Also they find best solutions for customer needs! We truly appreciate them for that!

Excellently taken care of. Due to illness, we were unable to attend in May. We were able to reschedule the reservation to June without any problems (we had already paid). There was a choice of four types of mussels, and for non-mussel lovers, there were alternatives (pointed cabbage and a burger). Original mussel dishes. We chose the Thai version and the Mussels with Nduja sauce. Served with delicious fresh fries with gin mayo. The service was top-notch (very friendly and attentive). We will definitely be going again next month. The package also includes a Gin Tonic cocktail. Here too, there were unique choices. We chose Gin with Watermelon and Jalapeno and Gin with Mango and Red Pepper.

I was looking forward to dining here with our friends and the food was FANTASTICALLY delicious, but the service was very bad. Dirty table and menu, mussels were already on the table, but no cutlery, no napkin, no extra plate for the shellfish, etc. Anything but service-oriented. Very disappointing.

We thoroughly enjoyed a lovely summer evening at Mossel & Gin in Westerpark. We opted for the three-course menu including unlimited drinks for 2.5 hours, for €68 per person. It is a really fun and relaxed concept. You can enjoy gin and tonics, wine, beer, soft drinks, and other beverages and simply order whatever you feel like. The gin and tonics were delicious, although personally, I found the tonic a little on the sweet side. The starters were a nice mix of flavors. We enjoyed oysters, a creamy burrata with beans, a fresh ceviche with a tasty dressing and vegetables, eggplant with a delicious spicy dressing, and fresh bread with herb butter. For the main course, we were served a pot of mussels, with everyone at the table choosing a different variety. The classic mussels with white wine, the spicy version with nduja, and the mussels with cheese were all very flavorful. The dessert did not disappoint either: cheesecake, chocolate mousse with sesame, and to finish, a nice cup of coffee. What makes this place extra special is the atmosphere. You can sit inside, on the terrace, or in the garden, and there is a relaxed and cozy vibe everywhere. It is not stiff fine dining, but rather accessible and relaxed. You can easily order some fries or extra bread, making the evening feel very free and sociable. The service was also friendly and pleasant, which certainly contributed to the nice atmosphere. A minor point for improvement is the timing of the evening. We had to wait quite a long time between the starters and the main course, while other tables that arrived later received their main course earlier. Additionally, on an early Thursday evening, some ingredients for the gin and tonics, such as mango and blackberries, were already unavailable. Especially on a summer evening, you expect these popular flavors to still be in stock. Despite these minor points, we had a fantastic evening and I will definitely be back. A lovely spot for a long summer evening with friends, good food, and a drink in your hand. That is why four stars instead of five.

On a warm, sunny evening, we enjoyed the mussel feast! Delicious mussels. With coconut milk, delightful, and the ones in beer were top-notch too! And tasty fries! Very friendly and sweet service. Two drinks included, for 25 euros p.p. A real treat! Thank you for the lovely evening. We will definitely be back!

Had a delicious meal on the terrace. Top-notch and peacefully situated in Westerpark. Eating in the sunshine under a palm tree, what more could you ask for? ;) . Clear menu, delicious mussels and shrimp croquettes. Very good wine list, including a few of the best Dutch top wines (I had a glass of Auxerrois from De Kleine Schorre, Zeeland). The staff is extremely friendly, efficient, and proactive, which unfortunately remains a rarity in Amsterdam. Highly recommended!

What a wonderful and successful evening it was (yet again) at M&G. The oysters and mussels (beer and Thai) were top-notch, as always! The fine wines from De Kleine Schorre pair very well with them. Staff members James and Mika visibly enjoy their work and clearly love people. Owner Wouter is very approachable and keeps a close eye on the atmosphere and the quality of the food. We are really looking forward to the next time!

We came at 4 PM for mussels, and they told us the quantity was limited and since we didn’t have a reservation, they couldn’t offer them to us. Honestly, that’s embarrassing.

Ceviche with crispy corn, grilled corn strips: savory sweet sour crunchy. Eggplant in a garlic cream sauce with crumble on top was fenomenale. Mussels with spicy sauce and crispy fish and chips. Desserts where good too! The textures and flavors are mouthwatering. Everything was delicious. Only the tap water bottle needed to be properly cleaned from the inside, yikes. I had to send it back, but they accidentally put it on the bill twice. They corrected it afterwards. Overall 5 stars, the food is delicious!

The terrace is huge and honestly one of the best parts of the place — ideal for long lunches or relaxed evening drinks when the weather is good. The whole atmosphere feels perfect for just slowing down and enjoying the park energy around you. We also tried a few of their fresh cocktails, which were really well-made and refreshing, perfect for sitting outside. Food-wise, even as a non-seafood option, there are great choices. The cabbage steak is a must-try for vegetarians — surprisingly flavorful, well-cooked, and definitely not an afterthought on the menu. Overall, it’s a great all-rounder: good food, strong drinks, and a standout terrace in one of Amsterdam’s nicest park areas. Perfect for sunny days in Westerpark.

This has been our favorite little restaurant for quite some time. We came specifically for the truffle mussels, but unfortunately they were no longer available :-( we had the Asian instead. Unfortunately, it wasn't special and the bean sprouts were still hard. So unfortunately... I hope it comes back soon, we won't be coming back until then...

We visit this restaurant occasionally because we really enjoy the mussels and gin combination. The mussels are delicious, and there’s a great variety of gin cocktails to choose from. The staff are friendly and welcoming. When the weather is nice, we usually prefer sitting outside — it’s a really pleasant spot to spend the afternoon / evening. We’ve never made a reservation before, but since we tend to arrive quite early, we’ve always been able to get a table. The only downside is that the portions seem to have become a bit smaller over time. Otherwise, definitely recommended!

I had seen the Mosselfest sign before, so I decided to give it a try. The mussels (Nduja and Drie Kef cheeses) were delicious and the gin tonic (Amsterdam 750 with Wynand Focking) went perfectly with them. It was lovely to be able to eat outside. And all that for such a price. A really good deal and definitely worth repeating.

Delicious mussels (chose the classic with white wine) and fries. The aubergine was exquisite. Very friendly staff. The only downside, not a 10 out of 10, was waiting 45 minutes for the mussels to arrive. We will be back for the sunny terrace!

Super service staff. The mussels were not cooked long enough, but they were done. And the taste of beer and wine was difficult to detect.

Five times out of seven visits staff forget about some positions of our order. Yesterday we were waiting an hour for one portion of mussels, while tables who come after us were served with food. We were struggling to find waiter to ask where our food. No one pay any attention and when we loose our patience and go to ask for bill we were told that we need to pay for mussels that we didn’t get. When we explained the situation that we were asking about our order and no one told us anything we were rudely told that all the staff are busy and it’s our problem and we still need to pay for the food we didn’t get.

Great food and lovely terrace, we will definitely be back! Highly recommended if you love mussels; tip: try the chef's mussels with cheeses and go for a nice 1-liter gin & tonic and just enjoy. Unfortunately, parking nearby is expensive.

Order for 5 people wrong at 3 points and had to wait more than an hour for mussels. I think someone had to run to the AH to buy them and got lost or something.

We were looking for somewhere independent in Amsterdam, not another chain, but a place with real passion behind it and a clear speciality. Muscle & Gin delivered exactly that. From the moment we arrived, it was obvious this was somewhere that genuinely cares about food, drink, and the experience as a whole. The mussel menu was extensive, the gin selection was just as impressive, and everything we tried was packed with flavour. You could tell straight away that the ingredients were fresh and that a huge amount of thought had gone into every dish and drink. What made it even better was meeting the owner, who spent time sitting with us and talking in real depth about the food, the local culture, and Amsterdam itself. That personal touch made a big difference. It did not feel like a generic dining experience. It felt authentic, knowledgeable, and proud of what it represents. I also loved the strong Dutch influence throughout the menu. So much of what was on offer, both food and drink, felt rooted in local produce and culture, which made the whole experience feel even more genuine. On top of that, the environmental side really stood out. Learning that mussels are one of the most sustainable protein sources was fascinating, and the huge whale suspended from the ceiling, 3D-printed from recycled waste plastic, was a brilliant and memorable feature. It was striking, creative, and said a lot about the values behind the place. If you want an authentic Dutch experience with outstanding flavours, a great atmosphere, genuine hospitality, and a clear sense of purpose, I would highly recommend Muscle & Gin. This was not just a meal. It was an experience

The mussels took over an hour to arrive. The chef left the kitchen halfway through, and a staff member even came to reassure us that the mussels would be ready soon, but in reality, there was no one in the kitchen. After a while, the chef finally returned and started preparing our mussels. The wait was truly incredibly long. Looking at some previous comments, the long wait wasn't an isolated incident; other customers had also experienced extremely long waits. So, if you don't want to waste your time, please don't come to this restaurant.

Went for gin and oyster happy hour, had to wait 50 minutes for the oyster to arrive and we weren't allowed to order any more because they "ran out". Oysters were great once they arrived. They offered us free Gin and Tonics as an apologies. While we didnt have the best experience I would try it out again to see if they can deliver

After almost a year, I was back in Amsterdam – and I knew immediately: a visit to Mossel & Gin was a must. I was thrilled last time, and this time that feeling was more than confirmed. It was especially lovely to meet the owner in person – incredibly warm, open, and genuine. You can tell right away that he works with passion. We started again with oysters – classic and Leche de Tigre. Both were exceptionally fresh, perfectly chilled, and tasted absolutely superb. For me, they are definitely among the best oysters you can get in Amsterdam. The mussels were also a real highlight once again. Two Thai-style mussels and one classic – all cooked to perfection, intensely flavorful, yet wonderfully balanced. The quality is consistently high, and that's what makes all the difference. Add to that the crispy fries with the homemade gin mayonnaise – simply fantastic. The gin pairings were also first-rate. The Gingery Gin and the Mango & Red Pepper Gin, in particular, were exciting and paired perfectly with the mussels. To finish, an affogato and a slice of cheesecake – a perfect, harmonious ending. What also pleasantly surprised me: the prices have remained stable throughout the year – truly rare these days and very commendable. The service is attentive, warm, and pleasantly relaxed; you immediately feel welcome. Sustainability is also taken seriously; the mussels come from Yerseke in Zeeland, and you can taste the freshness. I highly recommend making a reservation. A €5 deposit per person is charged, which is fully credited to your final bill – fair and transparent. Parking is readily available in the nearby Q-Park Westergasfabriek. For me, Mossel & Gin has long been a staple on every trip to Amsterdam. A well-thought-out concept, consistently high quality, outstanding seafood, and excellent gin creations – a clear 5 stars and an unqualified recommendation.

What a fantastic discovery – and even a year later, we're still absolutely thrilled! On our first visit, before our trip to Fabrique des Lumières, we enjoyed a perfect lunch at Mossel & Gin in Westergas Park. And now, almost a year later, it was immediately clear to us: we had to come back. This time, we even had the pleasure of meeting the incredibly warm and friendly owner in person – that alone added a very special, personal touch to the visit. On our first visit, the three of us started with 18 fresh oysters at a surprisingly fair price. On our return visit, we each treated ourselves to a 6-piece classic oyster set and 6 oysters with leche de tigre. Both options were again incredibly fresh, perfectly chilled, and simply delicious – a little paradise for oyster lovers. The mussels also completely won us over on both visits. The first time, we shared two large portions – Thai and truffle. The Thai version with curry, coriander, lime leaves, and ginger was intense, fragrant, and yet wonderfully balanced. The truffle mussels, on the other hand, were creamy, elegant, and exquisitely refined. On our second visit, we opted for two Thai mussels and one classic mussel – and again, the quality was absolutely top-notch, perfectly cooked, and bursting with flavor. The side dishes are a delight in themselves: On our first visit, we enjoyed warm rolls with samphire butter for dipping, as well as crispy fries with the legendary homemade gin mayonnaise, which is truly addictive. On our second visit, we stuck with the fries and gin mayo – we didn't have the rolls this time, but the enjoyment was just as great. The drinks also deserve high praise. On our first visit, we were refreshed by gin cocktails with passion fruit – light, fruity, and perfectly balanced. On our second visit, we chose Gingery Gin and Mango & Red Pepper Gin – both incredibly aromatic, intriguing, and a fantastic accompaniment to the mussels. For a sweet finish, we had affogato and cheesecake – a wonderfully harmonious ending. We also particularly appreciated that the prices remained stable throughout the year – something that's anything but a given these days. The service is consistently warm, attentive, and genuinely friendly – ​​you immediately feel welcome and well taken care of. The restaurant also places great emphasis on sustainability; the mussels come from Yerseke in Zeeland, which is clearly reflected in the quality. We highly recommend making a reservation. Very cozy, friendly service, affordable, and delicious food. Bisque, oysters, sautéed mushrooms, pumpkin with marinated carrots, mussels; everything delicious! Be careful with the wine! The cheapest bottle is around 40 euros, and that goes up to 70 euros. So choose a drinks package.

We came here for the oysters, of which we ate a dozen. Then we went for the mussels, which were also delicious. Unfortunately, we had to wait 45 minutes between courses, even though tables with large groups were being served excellently. But hey, that was understandable. What I did find rude was that when we wanted to order dessert after waiting 45 minutes, we were looked at and then completely ignored. Very bad of your blonde colleague. I also mentioned this to the bar, where we ended up paying because no one came by. Never again.

I'm not impressed with the mussel menu since it changed in 2025 and employees should not be eating and munching on food in view of customers.

Honestly, I didn't like the mussels. The menu called for a sauce with white wine and butter—a classic—but they couldn't even make this simple dish. I've had much better mussels in The Hague and Brussels. And they're not cheap at 25 euros. I'd recommend skipping the peppered gin and tonic; it loses the gin's flavor for me, but that's an acquired taste... I'd say it was a waste of time traveling all the way from the other side of the city.
