Visaandeschelde is one of the few places in Amsterdam where you can still order a classic French "Fruits de Mer" platter. Generously filled, beautifully presented. Beautifully fresh ingredients. The lobster was super fresh, as were the North Sea crab, cockles, periwinkles, and Dutch shrimp. And the oysters have been our favorite here for a long time. The shellfish tasted slightly of water, not the wine-and-cocktail broth we're used to. When we inquired in the kitchen, it turned out that the cockles, periwinkles, and mussels had been cooked in a "fast vegetable broth" (according to the chef). This was clearly noticeable. Personally, I prefer a slightly deeper broth flavor, which gives a more pleasant mouthfeel, especially with delicate shellfish. The reservation went smoothly, and our request for a table in the back was honored. The service was very attentive, fast, and pleasant. The wine list is extensive, and the prices are reasonable, especially compared to the exorbitantly high "tourist prices" at other, comparable restaurants. Visaandeschelde remains an Amsterdam classic for fish lovers. It's been a regular spot for us for years, and will be again in 2026!

Amazing food. The red gurner fish was incredible along with the wine and the beautiful snacks they provided along the way. The lobster was fantastic but a little on the salty side, and the showstopper was the baked oysters, would definitely return

Every year we eat during the wine show. I have never written a review before : here goes. Oysters are French ? No they are gorgeous Dutch full flavours sea salt with an idoine roundness and a milky protein finish … it did not stop there - the fish of the day - just a specialty… if you do not eat here then you have missed a moment. Discreet because when you are that good you can be. Bravo.

When you say "Fish," you know you have to visit Scheldeplein! Fish lovers know where to go. Always surprising, delicious combinations, and friendly, cozy, relaxed service. I don't get to go there enough now that I live in Maastricht.

We had a great dinner at Visaandeschelde. A set menu of 5 courses, all equally delicious and with excellent wine pairing. Top quality for a moderate price in this class. Host and waiters were very friendly. The atmosphere is more brasserie-like and at the peak of the evening (with a full house and after some bottles) it can get a bit noisy but that's part of the experience.

A real treat!! All those wonderful flavor combinations, Michelin-star quality!! My daughter and I are unfortunately intolerant to sulfites, but we enjoyed our meals just the same. These are truly delicious alternative treats.

We had a fantastic evening at Vis aan de Schelde. Everything was perfect: the food, the wines, the atmosphere, and especially the lovely conversations with the staff. For us, the red mullet was definitely the highlight. The sauces are left on the table, which is always nice if you're craving a little more. It truly felt like a night out for two. I have been here for the last 5 years in October during ADE. This time it was not fully sold out on a saturday, which is a sign. Food is tasteful but I felt portions are very small. We had the chef menu of 6 courses and wine package. You pay more than 150 euro per person and got a couple of small dishes. All very nice and special but it is too little to my taste. Sitting close to the window it is also very cold. Next year we will go somewhere else.

It has been our favorite fish restaurant in Amsterdam and the surrounding area for 25 years and never disappoints!

As an Amex Platinum member, I was able to dine here through the card offer, something I'd been looking forward to for a long time. Unfortunately, I overheard the waitress tell another customer that "Amex guests only come for the free food" and that "it attracts a certain crowd." That really hurt me; I've rarely felt so unwelcome. The manager handled it politely and professionally, but it cast a shadow over an otherwise delicious meal.

A special treat, as usual, to visit Visaandeschelde and enjoy their quality food, service and pleasant ambiance. You get what you pay for and it is most certainly worth it. The weather was great and we could sit outside: which is even better as inside it can sometimes get rather noisy as the sound bounces of the walls and ceiling amplifying the noise................ As we live outside the city in a different town we usually come by car, and it is so convenient to get of the highway and park easily - albeit at a ridiculous price per hour, set by the City of Amsterdam ofcourse. Looking forward to our next visit.

We had the Amex Experience Menu at Vis & Schelde and absolutely loved it. The amuse-bouche were a perfect start, the kohlrabi ravioli was the standout of the evening, and both the weeverfish with artichoke and calamari carbonara were also highlights. The last time was far too long ago, but the restaurant is now better than ever: the service, the cuisine, the acoustics... Everything is truly excellent. Watch out, it's going to be a star with you.

I've been coming here for years, and I especially miss the tasting menu, which was always on the menu where you could try a little bit of everything. The food is still delicious and the service is fantastic. The atmosphere isn't always very welcoming because of all the businessmen. But it remains one of my favorite fish restaurants. Bad experience I will not repeat

A wonderful place to enjoy a pleasant evening dining. This is my second time dining here. Once again, I was amazed by the beautiful and delicious culinary creations, the friendly and to-the-point service, and the cozy, uniquely decorated restaurant.

Fantastic place where quality remains high after all these years. This restaurant, with its fish dishes, should definitely be in Amsterdam's top 3. Worthy of a Michelin star.

We had a 5 course diner with wine pairing and it was fabulous. Started with oyster and another starter and a glass of champagne. Amazing food and wine, and the staff is just so nice and skilled. Not overly formal and with a lot of knowledge, they made us feel so comfortable. I loved the experience and it was worth every penny.

We went for our anniversary dinner last night and were blown away… from the food and its beautiful presentation to the atmosphere, but most of all, the service. We chose the chef’s menu and were treated to some bold and delicious flavor combinations To list a few, fish with grapes and for dessert: corn ice cream, popcorn, and caramel! (Told you it was bold) but absolutely delicious If you enjoy fish, this is definitely the place to go. We’ll absolutely be coming back! If I had one tiny comment, it’s that I wish the portions were just a bit bigger. We didn’t leave hungry, but a little more of everything would’ve been perfect, though maybe smaller portions are part of the concept? Maybe

1st time back since Covid opening in summer of 2021. Hottest day of the year so far on their terrace. Difficult to remember back to then but everything was super. We took a la carte starting with a little cavier, then smoked eel, and tuna and fois gras , for mains half a lobster and tuna tataki with soft shelled crab, finishing off with pinnacolde ananas, and scrompino (everything Lemmon). Everything was very delicious, well presented and top service.

The service is slow and unmotivated, the food is mediocre and in no way commensurate with the price. the ambience is moderate. The criticism is received without any significant emotions. most like an overpriced tourist trap!

El personal de camarera se equivocó en mi pedido y tuvimos que esperar mucho tiempo para nuestro plato principal. Cuando llegó hacía casi frío así que tuve que pedir que se calentara. Dos platos estaban demasiado salados y demasiado condimentados. 3 horas es mucho tiempo para disfrutar de solo un entrante y un plato principal, que es lo que mi marido ordenó. Los bouches divertidos eran sabrosos, al igual que el pan y la mantequilla miso, pero me fui cansado y frustrado.

We had a great meal, it was a nice relaxing evening for us, partly because of the staff. From oysters and Frito Misto to delicious tuna and Bouillabaisse. We were at table 6. And I would like to thank the Chef and his team for the delicious “extra” asparagus. Highly recommended. Top!
