An absolute gem in Amsterdam Noord! Located just steps from Noorderpark metro station, Royalvis & Royal med completely exceeded our expectations. They offer an amazing selection of fresh fish, but everything on the menu is good. We tried both the fish and the chicken, and both were packed with rich, delicious flavor. The fresh veggies were crisp, and the prices are remarkably reasonable for the portion size and quality. On top of that, the staff is exceptionally friendly and welcoming, and the cleanliness of the place is superior. Highly recommended!

Good, down-to-earth place. A fishmonger where you can choose what you want to eat. We ordered the dishes offered: calamari, salmon, and fried cod. Good food, reasonably priced (about €15 each). You come in, order, and sit down. Then they bring your food to you once it's ready. You bring your own drinks, as do the sauces. They don't sell alcohol. We had dinner there because it's close to the Holiday Inn Express, in about an hour and a half we had free between excursions.

Tried some local restaurant and was amazed by the fresh seafood and affordableness! We ordered the family style platter and got to pick whatever fish/seafood on display for up to 1kg. This only costed us about £36 euros for 3 fishes and 2 sides. Highly reccomend this place.

Wow, the price was great! We were there on Monday at lunchtime. It was practically empty. The Royal Mix platter and the plaice were fantastic. Thank you so much for the wonderful meal.

Royalvis is the best fish restaurant in Amsterdam. We come here every year from Bavaria, 900km away, and always look forward to a delicious fish platter.

If a restaurant is busy, the food is really good; I think I'll go there more often.

I have eaten here regularly over the years, but unfortunately, the last few times were very disappointing. The employee was not very friendly while ordering and reacted irritably to questions. After the meal, I got a stomach ache and diarrhea, and I am now on the toilet😩 I had ordered 25 euros worth of takeaway. Monkfish, calamari, small octopuses, a large octopus, and sardines. When I got home, it seemed as if I hadn't received part of my order. Anyway, I ate anyway because I was hungry.... The fish was very lukewarm, the presentation was poor, and I have the feeling that the calamari wasn't cooked through properly, which might explain the diarrhea. I do always find the big man with the dark hair who was behind the grill today very friendly, but I won't be eating there again.

I ate fish yesterday. The taste was mediocre, and a few hours later I had diarrhea all day. Not a second time for me.

We ate there twice during our week in Amsterdam and were delighted. The prices are good and the custom-made platter was excellent both times. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly.

Unfortunately, it's not as good as it used to be. The service was disappointing: the food was served before the bread and drinks even arrived at the table. The fish didn't seem fresh enough for the price, and the salmon was overgrilled, making it dry. The bread was also disappointing—we were charged €2 for it, even though it's usually served free, and some of the baguette pieces were hard and dry. On top of that, every small side dish cost an extra €2. Overall, it was poor value for money and a disappointing experience.

FANTASTIC!!! In the south, we are not used to being able to get fish so late in the evening. Plenty of choice, fresh fish, and good service.

Old fish. I have known Royal Med for years and they used to be doing a good and tasty job with their fish, but now they are very focused on profit and no longer think about their fish or customers. The fish is old, not tasty, and their fish soup tastes like watery tomato soup. I am very disappointed here. I paid €50 for a dish and didn't enjoy the meal.

I have never had such bad kibbeling and fried mussels. I was glad the portions were (ultra) small because it was inedible. 🙈

Deliciously fresh, just the way it should be. One small point to consider is letting the tea steep a little longer.

A lovely spot away from the tourists, with lots of locals and truly fresh food. Much cheaper than places in the city center. You absolutely MUST try the fish soup. You choose what you want to eat at the fishmonger's and they'll make it for you.

It looked like a really authentic place, frequented by locals, we seemed out of place as tourists, which was great as I wanted to try "kibbeling", basically fish and chips. I had to order at the front and then they brought the food to the table when it was ready. It was fresh and delicious, the fish could've been more crispy but I loved this experience all together.

Amazing and fresh seafood! Really good value for money and would definitely visit again. Picture 1 only costs 23€ and the fish soup tastes great as a starter.

Besides having to wait an hour for a portion of fried cod, I was constantly treated very rudely by the staff. What made the experience complete was that people who arrived later got their food earlier. When I mentioned this during the checkout, I was told, "That's not possible, sir, you must have misread it." A friend recommended your restaurant, which is why I came, but unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment.

Soup was delicious and the mixed table was perfect. Prices are pretty low. So this is a very good place to explore in Amsterdam.

Worth the trip Noord. Choose your fresh affordable seafood from the market and they cook it for you right there. This is a no frills local gem. The grilled vishmix & scallops were excellent with their garlic butter sauce. The crust on the grilled salmon was fabulous. The fried calamari was thick but light like a pillow. The salad cut through to provide balance to the rich flavor of the seafood. No gimmicks. The freshness and flavor of the food shine here - who cares about the decorations? If you’re visiting - enjoy the views on the way there by taking the ferry from Amsterdam Centraal, but plan to take the metro back because you’ll be so full of amazing food! Go for lunch if you don’t want to wait for a table - enjoy!

We stumbled upon a seafood shop and were thrilled to see they had our favorite fish and chips. We ordered two plates initially, and they were so incredibly delicious that we couldn't resist ordering two more! Definitely worth trying.

Great Moroccan seafood restaurant.

I drove another 40 kilometers or so to Amsterdam, but this time to double-check after the first time that the previous experience wasn't a flash in the pan. Well, nothing could have been further from the truth. The restaurant was quite full, there was parking right outside, and the counter was quiet. We chose 4.5 kg of delicious fresh fish, shrimp, and squid rings for seven adults. We had four bowls of fish soup and four bowls of chermilla, and a generous baguette to take away. We paid over €160 for all this delicious food, and had absolutely no complaints about the food, except that it wasn't as hot when we got home, but that was due to us and the distance. Everything was freshly baked and grilled. Absolutely fantastic for well over €20 per person. It's hard to find that anywhere else. Closed for a month from the end of July to the end of August, but after that...

Good food, on one side a choice of many types of fish and on the other side various flat es dishes, tajine or couscous. Top service, we went for the fish but because we had to wait for a table to become free we could take a seat on the other side and our food was brought there.

We ordered several types of fish for the grill and the fryer. Unfortunately, we also received a free salt mine without asking: 0.5 kilos of salt and fish spices. Shameless disrespect for the customer's taste buds. The fish arrived colder than my mother-in-law's smile. And then they dare to demand 85 euros for a meager portion of fish for 2 people. In short: unless you like spending money to be insulted, give Royal Vies a wide berth.

If you like fish, soup, this is the place. Select your pre- meal or choose your fresh they will cook it. I like the shrimp n soup, delicious. Every time I get to Amsterdam, I eat there. Prices went up, tho. It's not a fancy please to dine in, casual, share a table place. All I care about is that the food is excellent and eatable.

We visited this seafood restaurant located quite close to the center of Amsterdam. Parking was not an issue, and you can also easily get there by bike. Inside, there's a wide variety of fresh fish and seafood available, and you can choose whatever you like. If you're looking for fresh seafood and good taste, I definitely recommend this place (TURKISH) We went to this fish restaurant, located very close to the center of Amsterdam. You don't have any problems with parking, and it can also be easily reached by bicycle. The place has many fresh fish and seafood; You can choose the product you want and order. We tried a fish soup whose name I can't remember. When I added some hot sauce and lemon to the soup, a truly wonderful taste emerged. Then we tried a spread called "mix", which contained several different fish and shrimp. The contents were mixed and cooked with pepper, tomato and various spices. All products were very fresh and very delicious. If you are looking for fresh seafood and good taste, I definitely recommend it.

Sehr schneller und freundlicher Service, großes/frisches Meeresfrüchteangebot, aber der Hammer sind die Preise: 30,- für eine gemischte Meeresfrüchteplatte plus Pommes +2 Getränke plus diverse Saucen für 2 Personen … das kann ich nur empfehlen!!!

This restaurant is so awesome, really everything there is sooooo delicious. The dishes there are indescribable from the magic and the wonderful taste. I always go with my husband and kids and they are always excited about the restaurant 🤩 and I wish I could go there with them all the time. I advise you to always start with the soup 😋

A great place to get a fresh fish dinner! Pick what you want from the fish case, and they prepare it for you straight away. Cooked as good as any “restaurant”, although you aren’t going to find a bunch of creative preparations. Still, Had a piece of halibut and salmon, soup, salad, fries drinks for less than €30. Wirth speaking from a world, travelers perspective and amazing price for a fresh dinner. Worth the short train trip out of downtown Amsterdam.

This is not a fancy fish restaurant, but a caterer with a restaurant component. Folksy in character, but the food is really great. Two delicious grilled (not fried) gourmet dishes with fries, salad and ravigotte sauce for €14.30 Price/quality is unprecedented. You'll pay twice as much in another restaurant. Friendly staff, smooth service. Order at the counter/display case with fish. Highly recommended, well attended. I'm from IJmuiden, I know a thing or two about fish
