Our visit to Lucius in Amsterdam was nothing short of wonderful. From the moment we walked in, the welcoming staff set the tone for a memorable evening. The food was simply divine, a true testament to the artistry and expertise of the chefs. Each dish was a delight, full of fresh flavors and beautifully presented. As a local this is my favourite fish restaurant of Amsterdam (and I have tried them all!). Food is delicious (try their seaweed salad, bisque and fruits des mer) wine selection is perfect (also make great cocktails), restaurant is really cosy (tables at the aquarium are the best with the whole cast of Nemo swimming by) and the staff is always friendly and on top of their game. In Spring/Summer their terrace is perfect for people watching. Can't recommend this place enough!

Best fish restaurant in Amsterdam (perhaps in the Netherlands). Service top (friendly and knowledgeable) and the food is great. Lucius is quality and craftsmanship Tip Reserve the table under the beautiful saltwater aquarium.

We had the scallops and tuna, and both were incredibly fresh and perfectly prepared. The staff was friendly, attentive, and accommodating, which made the experience even better. It’s a great spot for a relaxed and charming date night. We were able to get same-day reservations, but it was a Monday in December, so it might be busier during peak times. Recommend

Amazing food! We had the octopus ! Seaweed salad to die for.

Don't go if you have small children because they have nothing, and children are not welcome. Pay close attention to the receipt, especially if you are a tourist. High prices ,medium quality unwelcoming service

one of the greatest meals and service we have ever received

Long story short octopus made me projectile vomit within an hour of eating literally one bite of it. Mgr (Nick) was defensive, combative, and didn’t even want to give his name bc he knew I was writing this review. Helen was Dope. Nicki was Ok till the end. Would write more but I’m exhausted from being physically ill multiple times.

It was just what we were looking for, casual and quaint. Had the catch of the day... swordfish, and it was delicious.

A delicious and fresh restaurant. I will definitely visit again

This restaurant was not worth they hype. We got the Lucius plate and the smoked eel. The Lucius seafood was prepared ahead of time and was all cold. The clams were almost uneatable. The shrimp and snow crab were okay. The other crab (Rock Crab??) was not cleaned and when I cracked the shell I got sand and mud in meat. The eel was good, but not with the cost. Go somewhere else, or at least pick a different meal. Maybe their most expensive meal is not their best.

Quite disappointed, dry sole, without brown butter, scallops not snacked. For 175€ for two people, we expect a better standard. We'll come back, maybe a miss that evening!

Not bad, pretty good, but very expensive for what it is… The service was not very pleasant when we arrived. Special mention for the blonde lady who was extremely smiling and friendly, she greatly improved our impression of the service. Thanks to her. Regarding the dishes, it's good, but not wow. The scallops as a starter lack a snack at the end of cooking to make them golden and the small soles lack a brown butter to prevent them from drying out during the meal... We paid €175 for two and we didn’t leave convinced…

Cozy nice place, the aquarium is beautiful. It's a shame to skip it if you want tasty fish in Amsterdam.

I know that if I died today, I mean if I actually walked outside of this restaurant and got hit by a car and died and I would be so happy to have this as my last meal. Hopefully, I live a lot longer though, and I die in my sleep and I get to come here once a week for the rest of my life.

We have had dinner two days in a row because we liked it a lot. Considering that we are in Amsterdam and the food is not the best here, this restaurant has good fish, well cooked and the service is excellent. Highly recommended. We will return.

My mom and I ate here for dinner because we were craving seafood. HUGE mistake! We both got awful food poisoning from the grilled salmon dish. We both got very sick after the meal. Do not recommend!

We shared the fruits de mare platter, and all of it was prepared to perfection. My favorite were the mussels, while my wife really enjoyed the shrimp.

Perfect and fast service (although the restaurant was full). The mixed grilled fish and tuna were simply perfect. Wine too. Even the ristretto coffee was up to par: no false notes. Be careful to book in advance because it was full.

Exceeded expectations. On all dishes, the fish is treated with extreme precision in seasoning and cooking. The dishes are served generously and the assortments perfectly match the season (asparagus in early May).

Lovely and delicious seafood dishes. I enjoyed sword fish which has soft and tender texture. The turbot is also nice. Dessert lemon mascarpone is great.

To start I had the Black tiger prawns in a garlic chilli dressing - Amazing 😍 and my main was Tuna steak with baby bok choi and soy sauce.

Delicious food: swordfish and sole with fries, vegetables and salad. The desserts were also very good. Service was extremely effective, very friendly and took the time to provide extensive advice. Recommended.

Inside it has a nice authentic maritime theme with plenty of modern details. Very nice service, very friendly and neat. We ordered the Lucius platter, super tasty lobster and all kinds of shellfish. A small point of criticism is that the menu does not state that this is a cold platter. Some items were really ice cold, which slightly diminished the structure of the meat. We are used to eating this hot in Portugal, perhaps that is more common there. I don't actually know. The taste was no worse. Had a very nice evening.

waitress and waiter not particularly friendly, and service people so loud that it was very hard to have a conversation with my husband who was sitting across from me. I was not interested in hearing their loud voices. Our food was good, the grilled salmon a bit undercooked, my tuna and baby bok choy were very good. I must point out that the warm bread and French butter were amazing!

Great location recommended by the concierge staff at the Waldorf Astoria hotel. We enjoyed the fresh fish selection served in the mixed fish platter (it is suggested as an appetizer but it is pretty filling). Get the additional smoked eel! We liked that there were also a couple of vegan options on the menu (celery and carrot appetizers, and grilled mushrooms - boletes).

Fruit de mer was te koud en de vongole waren ronduit vies. De overige vis was erg lekker dus dat maakte het goed. Maar op een dinsdag hier eten is toch een uitdaging voor de keuken

I love the setting, and the excellent hospitable service.. the kitchen is not as inventive as I would like from what we ate that evening, but I'm game to try again with some other dishes next time.

Het eten was op zich lekker. Ik had de mosselen die goed op smaak waren, helaas was meer dan een kwart niet goed gekookt waardoor ik redelijk wat dichte mosselen had. Verder voelde de service erg gehaast. Wel een mooi restaurant en we zaten naast het aquarium wat erg leuk was.

We walked into a very classy yet cozy place. Staff was very naturally nice without being stuffy. And then was food…. Fresh as if it just plucked from the ocean Flavors were great, selection excellent and execution right on spot. Just an excellent evening, pleasant and in very good place.

Wonderful dining. Great selection of fish dishes. All cooked to perfection and delicious. Will certainly return. We had multiple dishes, cod, baby sole, sea bream and salmon. All plates cleaned. The grilled octopus starter was also delectable. The mussels starter was a large portion and the Dutch shrimp starter was quite nice. Overall, highly recommended.

Hands down the best muscles I have had anywhere in the world. Their tuna fish was perfectly seared and cooked to order. Very cozy restaurant with a relaxed vibe.
