Had the Grilled Tuna, and hubby had the steak as he’s not huge fish fan. Other member if party had scallops, herring and some. All excellently. Highly recommend

Not very good food, that's my subjective opinion....

One of the best seafood restaurants that I have ever eaten in. I started with smoked eel on toast and oysters. That was followed by a great lobster bisque and then the best mussels that I have ever eaten, they were called Zeeland mussels. The smoked eel was also excellent.

The food was delicious, the staff were enthusiastic, and the prices were reasonable. I will definitely return if I have the chance to visit Ams again.

Very disappointing experience. We ordered a small lobster soup, but they brought us a large one instead. When it came time to pay, they tried to charge us for the large portion. I explained that we had ordered the small size and that it was their mistake, but the staff simply responded that we had already eaten the large one. That is completely unreasonable — customers should not be expected to pay extra for a mistake made by the restaurant. Even worse, the mussels were clearly not fresh and smelled bad. We asked for them to be replaced, but the second portion still had the same unpleasant smell. Serving seafood in this condition is simply unacceptable. Between the poor food quality and the way they handled their own ordering mistake, the whole experience was extremely disappointing. I would not recommend this place.

There were three of us. We started with 12 oysters and champagne. The oysters were all leaking, probably damaged during opening. We mentioned it when the waiter came to clear the plate, but received no response. Then we ordered a seafood platter for two. The prawns were soft, the lobster tasteless, but the shells were spoiled. They smelled terrible. It was taken away and removed from the bill. They asked if we wanted to order anything else; well, no. No apologies. The North Sea sole afterwards was tasty. 69 euros excluding fries and salad. Dessert and coffee. Nothing on the house. Bill 470.50. For a disappointing experience. It is a shame because we have been here three times before. But this was the last time.

For a birthday getaway, a wonderful discovery of this fish restaurant. Exceptional, very professional and welcoming service, impeccable service worthy of a fine dining establishment, immaculate white tablecloths and napkins. The cuisine and preparation of the fish were exceptional. The mixed appetizers were amazing, and the sole was delicious. I loved the place and the service was excellent.

Best meal in Amsterdam by a wide margin and reasonable prices. Standouts were the civiche and the baby sole. Only thing I'd change is a bit more lime in the leche de tigre (but I love lime) and a bit more of the yams because they were yummy.

Incredible experience! First class on all levels … you must make an effort to eat here while in Amsterdam … Dover Sole… best bubbles by the glass, side salad is lightly dressed and well balanced.

Perfect! Everything! The wine, the ambiance. Beautiful wall tiles, floor tiles, tables, chairs—everything is just right and blends in perfectly. The wooden ceiling beams. The fish was exceptionally good. I have rarely eaten such good, such fresh, and such well-prepared fish. Truly outstanding.

Sadly off the mark and in need of a reboot. Service is fine but food definitely underwhelming. We had eaten here before to great satisfaction as early as last year and were disappointed twice in a row so won’t go back again. A triple fruits de mer platter arrived on a bed of half melted ice, with the shrimp and crab claws soggy from absorbing water. The mixed grilled fish plates arrived without any apparent concern for aesthetic plating - just tossed on the plates. The fish and chips were a monstrosity - a single blob of fried, overcooked unidentifiable fish served on top of a small sad collection of worn out almost cold fries. Tiger prawns on a bed of white asparagus (from a jar?) were marginally better. It’s very sad when a reliable restaurant hits the skids- Lucius has a lot of work to do If it wants to attract real diners again rather than tourists. Beck to Seafood Bar for me.

My hotel recommended Lucius, and I’m so glad I found my way there. The ambiance immediately set the stage for a wonderful evening: cozy, inviting, and understatedly smart in its styling. Crisp white tablecloths, fresh flowers, good lighting — the kind of dining room that makes you feel instantly happy to be there. The food was exceptional. The seaweed salad was unlike any I’ve ever tasted — genuinely memorable and so good it made me want to go work in their kitchen just to figure out how they made it. The lobster bisque was also outstanding. What made the evening especially lovely was the service. I happened to arrive quite late, close to closing, and the staff graciously made room for me and treated me with such warmth throughout the evening. Truly thoughtful hospitality.

I googled this restaurant weeks before arriving in Amsterdam. All the reviews were great, so I made reservations. The restaurant is beautiful inside with a nice atmosphere. We ordered scallops as a starter and I must say, they were some of the best scallops I’ve had. The sauce they were served with was rich and delicious. We had a full lobster, Steak and Grilled Salmon. The entire meal was very good and worth the experience. The staff were very friendly and made sure we were very well taken care of.

Superb seafood restaurant in the heart of Amsterdam. Elegant atmosphere, delicious, traditional dishes. The herring and bourride are highly recommended. Fairly priced.

I had been there 20 years ago on my last trip to Amsterdam and wanted to reminisce about some moments with someone very dear to me who is no longer with us. Everything was wonderful.

Excellent fish restaurant in the middle of Amsterdam City. Lucius was on our wish list for long time and we finally had an amazing dinner there. Service, ambience, taste and presentation of food was fabulous. I chose girallade and all 4 sorts of grilled fish were all at the sweet spot. We will definitely visit Lucius back soon. They are there for a good reason last 50+ years.

We had a nice memory of their Covid home-delivery platters, but this visit was disappointing. The seafood platter felt pre-prepared and too cold/ soaked, and the extra half lobster (€27.50) was very small. The atmosphere was flat, and staff conversations were clearly audible from the back. OK service, but overall it felt more geared toward (elderly) tourists than locals.

An Amsterdam classic fish restaurant. First time I eat here was 27 years ago. Still the same food, service and decoration. As long as it exists I will always visit again.

We ordered the salmon - the fish is fresh and tastes good. However, I was surprised to be asked how I want the fish to be cooked- rare, med rare or well done. From where I came from, fish is cooked one way- when it is cooked (if it is not a ceviche or sashimi). For some reason they threw a cooked piece of bacon on my salmon. The sides were a weak sauerkraut and pureed peas. The sides did not go with the mains at all flavour-wise in any case. Husband ordered shrimp- this was a fail. 12 head and tail on shrimp, dry fried in a pan with no salt nor spices whatsoever. No sauce even. Served on a bed of half-cooked onions. So odd. The sides did not complement the main. Mercifully, we got a bowl of fries and mayo, which was good.

A bright, friendly, and charming restaurant with very nice, attentive staff and excellent food. We asked some locals in Amsterdam for a recommendation for a good fish restaurant, and we were not disappointed. Reservations are necessary.

In the Jordan area, near Hotel Estherea, which is amazing, LUCIUS is an exceptional dining experience. Seafood forward. The service was top notch without being over the top. The food was grounded in sea food staples but super creative. And the price point was very reasonable for the quality and amount. Highly recommend. It's really worthwhile.

Absolutely worth a visit! The atmosphere is charming and the service genuinely attentive. We shared an excellent quality mixed fish and smoked eel platter with classic accompaniment (plus a bit of less classic but good seaweed salad) and the very generous moules frites paired with Dutch wine. Pro tip: sit in the middle to front part of the restaurant - the exhaust was flagging when we were there and it’s noticeable in the bar area and back tables.

We ate here last weekend. It's a beautiful restaurant with a lovely aquarium, in a good location, yet it's peaceful inside. The female waitress who helped us was very friendly and knowledgeable, and the slightly younger male server was also very friendly. The older male server, who I think was the host, was downright rude. Maybe he was having a bad day, but you can still provide proper service. Moreover, the food was disappointing. I ordered the Fruit de Mer. The oysters weren't shucked, and the shellfish were not prepared correctly (actually, they were wrong and inedible). Some of it was also clearly frozen.

As a foodie, I always relish trying local cuisine when possible. However, tonight, we had a craving for some fresh fish. The restaurant was conveniently located about a 10-minute walk from our hotel. As the night grew darker, the ambiance of Amsterdam transformed into a cozy and inviting atmosphere. We had made a reservation for 8 pm and arrived promptly. Upon settling in, our waiter promptly presented us with the drinks menu, which was a refreshing departure from our usual experience of receiving everything at once or a single menu encompassing both drinks and food. The food arrived hot, fresh, and bursting with flavor. While I enjoyed the prawns, I felt that they could benefit from a bit more seasoning to enhance their taste. Despite this minor oversight, the overall meal was satisfying. The soles were a standout, with both large and small portions offering a delightful experience when accompanied by butter. The side dishes were expertly prepared and complemented the main course perfectly. In conclusion, I highly recommend this restaurant. Not only does it offer a delightful dining experience, but the service is also commendable and friendly.

The best fishmonger around, a beautiful restaurant with a stunning sea aquarium. Very friendly and professional staff. The food is fantastic, with a lovely extensive menu, something for everyone. This time, among other things, sole is back on the menu, and it was a truly large and delicious one. But of course, there are also oysters Florentine and raw. The razor clams were also delicious. This was definitely the best meal we had in Amsterdam. The atmosphere, the service and the super delicious food! We had lobster bisque, octopus, black tiger prawn and catch of the day fish. Everything was fresh and perfectly presented. If we'd stayed in the city for one more day then we will definitely visit this place again!

This seafood restaurant is popular with locals. Everything tastes amazingly delicious. The white fish and oysters were particularly impressive. They go well with white wine. It's not the kind of place where random tourists can just drop in. If you make a reservation online, you can get in, so I highly recommend making one. It's a popular restaurant, so be careful as your order may not be processed during busy times.

The service was a bit off putting at first telling us they they were taking things slow and really don’t want to do quick lunches but then it recovered quickly and the service was very normal and speedy in the best sense. Had the ceviche and the small soles - absolutely top class.

I wanted to try Amsterdam herring. We passed by this restaurant in the afternoon and decided to have dinner there, + other fish restaurants we passed during the day closed earlier. Very warm, friendly atmosphere. Locals with their families were having dinner around, and it was clear that they were regular guests of the restaurant. I really liked this restaurant. The pickled herring was amazing, very tender, slightly salty - just the way I like it. All the other food was delicious too. The price was not cheap, but together with the atmosphere it was worth it. I recommend

You wait for ten minutes at your table for a waiter to hear him saying in a very rude way that the table is reserved, while there’s no reserved sign anywhere. This is ridiculous and disrespectful! This is literally the first time I faced such situation!

Had enjoyed the wonderful dinner with- White wine, oysters, lobster, fish soup, mussels, and grilled seafood platter ! In memory of Dolly dog, we brought a puppy to travel with us to comfort our broken heart a little bit! It encountered the waiter told me he likes dog more than people! The thing is the people who love dog would be the nice people!

Lovely food. Great variety in seafood. The staff was very friendly and attentive. It was busy and hence tables quite close but overall atmosphere was relaxed.

We were a table of 3. One intolerant to gluten and an other intolerant to lactose. Both our needs were met without a problem by the staff. Without even asking for alternatives they brought us olive oil as a substitute to butter and good quality gluten free bread. Food was excellent. Thank you for the lovely dinner.

We got the mixed grilled seafood with romanesco and the grilled seabreem served on a bed of leeks. The side salad was perfectly balanced and so fresh. Pavlova for dessert. Make a reservation!

I wanted a nice seafood restaurant for dinner when I was in Amsterdam recently, so I asked my Uber driver for a recommendation. He recommended LUCIUS, and let me tell you, he was spot on. Traveling alone, I prefer to sit at the bar and enjoy a nice meal as I'm a little self-conscious when eating alone. My waiter was Nick who was super response and provided excellent service and advice. He also engaged in pleasant conversation and made a point of making my meal memorable. From the appetizer, to the main meal, to dessert, LUCIUS was fantastic! The quality of the Sole (3 pieces) was fantastic, the roasted potatoes and salad were both amazing. Even the ice cream for dessert was tasty and properly portioned. I had a Pomegranate Martini to start, and with dinner, a lovely French Burgundy which cost 7 Euros. That's $10.00! Nick also made a nice nip of tequila, cranberry, and lime. The food, service, cost, wine, dessert were all amazing. The employees care that much. When you're traveling alone for two weeks, a nice dinner at the end of the day makes all the difference in the world.

Excellent fish restaurant on the canal bank. We were here on Wednesday evening, so we got in without a reservation. Very friendly staff, delicious food, cozy atmosphere. I confirm the positive reviews of other visitors - this is a very good restaurant for fish dishes and seafood. I definitely recommend visiting.

If you are a seafood lover, come here! Although the Irish oysters were average, the lobster bisque was above average and then the grilled fish was so over the top good, that I give Lucius a 5 star rating. The tuna , salmon , prawns and baby sole were perfectly prepared to be tender and delicious without the aid of any sauce necessary. I highly recommend Lucius, especially for the fish.

The waiters were very friendly and made us feel welcome. The meals are even more delicious. The cooking method is simple but can bring out the original flavor of the ingredients, especially the fish soup, which is definitely a big surprise and highly recommended! Super friendly service. Came here for late lunch. Seafood was excellent. Happy with lobster bisque and tuna sandwich. Brand of the Still water is soo good, extra point.

We arrived late and without a reservation, it was full, but they made a place for us and took great care of us. The place was clean and the food was excellent, the grilled salmon and sea bass were also very good. The dessert was the only thing that was average for our taste, but it was very well done, we just didn't like it. I think it's called affogatto or something like that.

We were really looking forward to our visit to Lucius in Amsterdam, but it turned out to be a very unpleasant experience. As a family with young children, we felt extremely unwelcome from the moment we walked in. The staff were noticeably unfriendly and showed absolutely no understanding or patience for the simple fact that kids are kids – lively, curious, and sometimes a bit noisy. Instead of being met with kindness or even basic courtesy, we received annoyed looks and passive-aggressive remarks throughout our meal. It made the whole experience very uncomfortable. To make things worse, the food didn’t live up to the expectations either. The lobster was served cold and lacked flavor – not what you’d expect from a dish at this price point. I haven’t felt this unwelcome in a restaurant in a very long time. Definitely not a place I would recommend for families – and honestly, there are many better spots in Amsterdam with both better food and a more respectful atmosphere.

The room is very pretty and the staff impeccable, however the cuisine was sorely lacking in flavor and the quantities could have been a little more generous.

This time I picked up a seafood platter here. The fact that the order was not ready for me after I had to indicate in advance what time I would arrive was still up to that point. But the contents were also very disappointing: no razor clams, no whelks, no prawns, no butter. It was all on the menu, but not on my platter. So I feel cheated, especially for that price (€75). Never again, it has become a tourist trap.

At first we went to the other famous restaurant nearby, but it fully booked, the manager said they also go here to buy fish, so recommend us to eat here. The bread with butter excellent, following dishes is amazing. Would say better than other hot seafood places. Very tidy and clean place, cute beautiful fish tank.
