I had a great dish of pumping filled ravioli. Perfect. The wine was served from the bottom of the bottle with sediment, which is a sign of wine quality, but maybe not of good service. I asked it to be refilled and it happened immediately. Lovely ambiance.

A truly lovely, cozy place with delicious food and wine. A small menu, but that's no problem. It feels like Odette's living room.

I delivered orders here for a while. I was always greeted with a nasty, grumpy feeling.

Quaint place, good example of local Dutch inspired cuisine. Very enjoyable and such a great night.

Another delicious meal, even better than we'd been back a year or more. We've been coming here for a long time and love it, but thankfully this time the menu is a bit lighter. Fantastic fresh white fish, delicious simple side dishes, the house wine was perfect, a cozy table outside, and this time friendly, cheerful, and attentive service. The only downside was the lack of vegetarian options. In short, we had a wonderful evening!

We came here in a very big group with my work, and there was a fixed menu. All of the appetizers were great, and for the main I opted for the chicken, which was really delicious and hearty, and the portion size was huge. The desert was very intense, loved it. I would say the service is really good. They're really attentive. Even though we were a huge group, they made it work, and the atmosphere in the place is really nice. It's very cozy, and they had a good selection of drinks as well.

If you're looking for a casual-chic canalside dining experience, Buffet van Odette is truly perfect. Reservations are essential, especially if you want an outdoor table. The service is very friendly and attentive, and the dishes aren't extensive, but there's something for everyone and they're all excellent. The atmosphere is truly ideal for a relaxing evening with friends or family.

Geven hier aan glutenvrije opties aan te bieden. Ze hebben echter geen enkel hoofdgerecht zonder gluten want alles is al ‘vooraf geprept.’ Dus ik moest maar twee voorgerechten nemen of een combi van bijgerechten (sla met aardappelen werd geopperd). Teleurstellend en niet gastvrij. De negatieve feedback ontving de eigenaresse/manager met in de verdediging gaan en aan te geven dat ze ‘van slag’ was. Ik voelde me meer een last dan een gast. Porties zijn ook klein en duur.

Door eerdere beoordelingen waren onze verwachtingen niet heel hoog gespannen. Maar wij hebben erg genoten. Gerechten waren heerlijk (wij bestelden de tomaten/burrata, asperges,kippenbout, ravioli en crumble). Heerlijke pure smaken met lichte smaakvolle sauzen.. Ook het zuurdesembrood was erg lekker. Bediening is erg vriendelijk en onnadrukkelijk aanwezig. Prachtig plek aan de gracht. Wij komen nog wel een keer terug.

It's a very nice restaurant. But it's very cramped and very loud. Unfortunately, our main course was forgotten, so we had to ask for it, but it took an hour before we got our main course. The dishes are very small, but very tasty.

Buffet Van Odette is my go-to for a nice dinner in Amsterdam. They consistently hit the mark on food, service, value, and atmosphere! The menu is small but thoughtful and I haven't had a dish disappoint. I would heavily recommend the pasta dish on the menu and the appetizers with some bread to share is always a hit! This time we also had a dairy-allergy in our group, and they easily gave us recommendations and made sure she had a good experience.

We were there in the evening for a dinner without reservation on a Saturday night. We were welcomed very warmly with a big smile and we were happily given a table. The atmosphere is very cozy. The food was very well cared for and delicious. The ravioli was wonderfully fresh and simple but full of flavor, as it should be. Perfection. The chicken was perfectly cooked with a delicious sauce. As a side dish we took the sourdough bread with whipped butter and the reviews were right, this did not disappoint. Delicious! The potatoes with tarragon mayonnaise were also to lick your fingers. We did not plan on having a dessert but we let ourselves be tempted by the Toffee cake with vanilla ice cream which we luckily shared because this was quite a bomb. A magnificent sweet bomb, that is. Super ending. We will definitely come back here when we come back to Amsterdam.

€55 per persoon voor een 3-gangen lunchmenu (groepsmenu) is buitensporig duur, zeker voor een zogenaamde Franse keuken die werkelijk niets Frans te bieden had. Matig gegeten, en bovendien onvoldoende. Chique uitstraling en hoge prijs, maar inhoudelijk absoluut teleurstellend. Voor ons: nooit meer.

A nice bistro. But so busy and fully built that you almost sit on the laps of the other guests. The map is clear, which I like. The food was fine. But there was a lot of stress among the servers to get the table free in time for the next shift. That was not done very subtly.

Cozy atmosphere and very good price/quality

We spent a week in Amsterdam and Copenhagen and our best meal was at Odettes. Menu is unique (as an American), food was fresh, and absolutely delicious. We tried going back but they're closed on Tuesday. Highly recommend.

Buffet van Odette on the Prinsengracht is a great place for lunch, though the atmosphere would also be nice in the evening. It has a bistro-style feel in the heart of Amsterdam, with Museum Square around the corner and canals everywhere you walk. The service is professional and friendly, and the dishes are always excellent. As locals, we appreciate the quality and consistency. Buffet van Odette is also well-loved by those who live here.

Not as good as it used to be. The menu is limited. The ravioli was quite greasy, the steak tartare is not great and the smoked salmon choucroute doesn't make any sense. I used to love coming here but the last few times were disappointing.

Reserved table from 12 noon to 2 pm! Tables are very close together, you can literally hear the neighbors' conversations and you almost sit next to each other on the couch. The young man serving is friendly. Omelette with truffle cheese very tasty. We are still having our drink and we are already asked if we would like any more coffee? At half past two we were asked to pay and leave, because it was very busy and we needed a table. Older lady instructed a young man to bring us the bill and pay immediately... Extremely rude, customer unfriendly and unpleasant experience! Our "neighbors" received the same treatment. No more Odette's Buffet for me!

Simply the best bistrot in Amsterdam - a city with a lot of options and addresses, but where almost all new places end up being repetitive, without style, and a bit cheap. At Odette you'll have a lovely atmosphere, simple yet tasty and creative menu, and beautiful wines

Wat een gezellige zaak. Zeer vriendelijke service van Inez. We kwamen veel te laat aan en dat was geen probleem. Zeer goede energy. Heerlijk gegeten. Tafel bij de spiegel zijn het leuker. Of een plek aan de bar. Zeer goede ligging. Ik hoop nog vaak terug te komen.

Gezellige zaak, vriendelijke ontvangst. Helaas weinig gerechten om uit te kiezen en alles is vrij duur. Voor brood moet je bijbetalen. Ook voor gewoon kraanwater. Dit gaat weliswaar naar een goed doel, maar ja, ongevraagd. Jammer ook van het Engelstalige personeel dat geen enkel woord NL begrijpt. Teleurstellend.

Gran lugar. Cerca de la zona del museo. Muchos (jóvenes) lugareños. Menú simple pero bueno. Gran variedad de vinos. Incluso cero en el menú como kombucha. Elegimos mejillones, oeufs mayonesa, huevos revueltos de salmón, gran pan de masa madre, coliflor a la parrilla. Qué bien. Personal muy ocupado.

Nice food and really friendly waiters. We enjoyed the pumpkin and sage ravioli. The menu is very very small, with only three mains a night so if you have dietary needs or are a bit more fussy, probably avoid this spot.

Very nice new business, exudes a fresh Parisian atmosphere. The pumpkin ravioli was great, steak tartare had no egg (possibly a choice due to danger) and was unfortunately a bit zesty. The kombucha drink is wonderfully subtle and fine. Biggest downside: busy place where you can barely understand each other.

Hubiera sido agradable sentarse afuera en el canal, pero fue una noche muy lluviosa. Afortunadamente nos dieron la mesa más cercana a la puerta principal abierta, así que tuvimos un poco de aire fresco y todavía podíamos ver el canal. Parecía ser un lugar de reunión "después del trabajo" muy ocupado tanto para la cena como para las bebidas en el bar. Compartimos un pedido de pan de masa madre y una ensalada, y cada uno tenía los ravioles muy sabrosos del día. El postre era delicioso pastel de toffee pegajoso.

This place used to be my go-to, and I hadn’t visited it in years for no particular reason. I’m glad to see they’ve maintained their standards of quality. The service is friendly, the wines are good, and the food is tasty, nicely presented, and reasonably priced (for Amsterdam standard). Everything is great, except that the portions are a bit on the small side. PS: please bring back to salmon with lentils on the menu :)

Had a great meal at Buffet van Odette. This restaurant, now a classic, has been on our “to do” list for a long time. It's nice that we were able to go spontaneously on a Friday evening. The restaurant has a limited menu, which makes choosing easy. Everything was well prepared, and the service was decent, so there is little to complain about. However, we found the main courses in particular to be a bit on the meager side (clams and fennel sausage). For us it was a nice evening and another restaurant that we could cross off our list, but within the wide selection in Amsterdam, Odette was less memorable than we had hoped!

Recently had a friend's birthday at the special location of Buffet van Odette just down the street! Beautiful location with a very sweet lady in charge. Food, wine, and cocktails were delicious and it was a super beautiful festive evening! If you are looking for a beautiful location with good food for a party, I would definitely recommend this. I will definitely come back to the restaurant for a tasty snack!

Simple but tasty food - make sure you book a table before going there as it quickly gets crowded

The menu is limited but the food is really good and not your typical standard European dishes. The bread with butter is phenomenal - my favorite in Amsterdam. The only critique I have is that the owner of the establishment is often quite rude (I have been to this restaurant numerous times). Other than that, definitely try the bread and the great food!

I paid 14 euros for unflavoured scrambled eggs tossed with a few slices of smoked salmon and bread. I swear McDonald’s makes better scrambled eggs . Their menu was limited and they change it by seasons ( meaning the dishes mentioned by other reviewers were not available ). Only saving grace were the staff’s service

What a party our evening was at Odette's. An excellent four-course menu was served to us outside on the terrace on a beautiful Amsterdam summer evening on the beautiful Prinsengracht. Unexpected flavor combinations (veal tongue with mackerel mayonnaise and fennel as a starter and ravioli with beetroot and watercress and ricotta and parmesan cheese) and an un-Amsterdam professional, friendly and informal service. And excellent price/quality ratio. Eating out at Odette's was, in short, a party. Everything shows that for Odette, pleasantly surprising her guests is number one. And she has found the people in the kitchen and service who propagate that philosophy. It's just a shame that with all that delicious food and drinks we didn't get around to the Oeufs Mayonnaise. And we heard she is very good at that. A good reason to go back again.

Alles voelt als nieuw bij het smaakvol ingerichte Odette. De kleine kaart geeft ons keuze uit drie hoofdgerechten. We gaan voor het ‘lam parelgort’ en de ‘ravioli’; twee heerlijke recepten. Zowel de witte als rode wijn is prima van smaak. De jonge bediening beweegt zich nog wat onwennig.

We went for lunch here after visiting the Rijks Museum, it was great: good food, excellent local beer. THE only fault, service a little long but that's because there were certainly a lot of people.

I usually recommend Buffet Van Odette to people visiting Amsterdam. Lately, I have noticed that the staff isn’t as friendly as I was used to - so will need to see how that’s going before I continue recommending. Last time I visited with my Oma and we got placed at a table which was too narrow and we could barely move without hitting the neighbors (we had a reservation). She as well, was a bit frustrated with the service. Portions could be bigger - I always catch myself snacking before arrival because I’m not getting very full of the small dishes 🧀 Besides that, I’ve always enjoyed the food and beautiful view. I am looking forward to come back on the next sunny day and enjoy the terrace. Hopefully it’s getting back into its flow ☀️ 🍷

Our night at the restaurant was pretty disappointing, mainly because of how rude and unhelpful the service was. We had booked a table earlier in the day, but when we got there in the evening, things went downhill fast. As soon as we walked in, this older lady, who seemed to be in charge, gave us attitude like, "What's going on here?" while another staff member was checking reservations. Then she tried to stick us in the back, away from everything. The younger waiters were nice enough, but this lady just kept on being rude. She made snarky comments, like suggesting one of us move to a different seat in a really demanding way. And she repeatedly questioned if we had ordered our drinks, looking annoyed when we were taking pictures to capture our evening. To make matters worse, even after we'd ordered our drinks, food, and specifically asked for still water, she came and put a bottle of sparkling water on the table without saying anything. And then charge us for it, even after we pointed it out to her. On top of all that, the food wasn't great either. Some of it was cold, and instead of ravioli with porcini mushrooms they served ravioli with peas, which wasn't tasty at all! Overall, it was a pretty lousy experience. The rude service, mixed-up orders, and underwhelming food left us feeling disappointed.

Great food and cozy place for a dinner with family or friends. However service was very poor, and it’s been bad all 3 times I’ve been there. It’s a bit embarrassing to have to excuse the service when you bring visitors with you to dine.

Buffet van Odette is a very charming small restaurant on a canal and run by young and engaging staff. The limited menu options are not an issue because the food is so good. Seemed to be full of local Dutch which is always a good sign. Cosy and booking is essential.

In between starters and main courses we waited too long that the experience lost its charm. Steak tartare is not special while mostly potato or cauliflower sides are well balanced and tasty. I tried the coquelet, it was so small and very difficult to eat in the served plate.
