Burgermeester Artis in Weesperbuurt/Plantage

When we ate there, the entire place was empty – we were the only customers. Even so, it took quite a while for a server to come to us. The food, however, was prepared fairly quickly. The ambiance is more reminiscent of a small snack bar than a restaurant, which is probably intentional. The burgers were okay, although the patties could have stayed on the grill a little longer, as they were still quite pink inside. The fries we ordered with them, on the other hand, were very good and nice and crispy. All in all, it wasn't a bad experience, but the prices are rather high for what's offered.

Very impressed with this little burger place the trio of mini burgers is an absolute winner, chose your own 3 mini burgers from the menu, when they come they look amazing and taste the same, only downside they dont come with fries.

Take a good look at their burgers. We ordered one with just cheese and bacon and please, no spicy food and it arrived without bacon with tomato, pickle, lettuce and onion... and Spicy! Another one that was with bacon also arrived without bacon and we ordered them with ketchup and it wasn't spicy either... we asked to at least change the spicy food because it was for a girl and the surprise was that it came again with tomato, lettuce, cucumber and onion... thank goodness it wasn't spicy...!!! In the kitchen you can only hear laughter so I guess they're just joking around instead of paying attention to the order because the girl who took the order made it perfectly... the product is very good so come but pay attention to the ingredients 😉

The most disgusting burger I've ever eaten. The meat was overcooked and the vegetables had no flavor. The burger fell apart, so you had to eat each item separately. Over €6 for a small tray of fries is a steal. The server hadn't cleaned the table he sat me at. Run away!

Simple, no frills, tasty burger experience. Found this lovely burger place via a Google search after a few hours of plodding around the Artis zoo; it had good reviews and off we went to fill our tanks. It offers a simple and friendly atmosphere with sitting available inside and Al fresco on the sidewalk. It was evening and a nice time to sit outside and watch the world go by but the children preferred inside and we found a place at the end of the restaurant with a curved bench perfect for 3. Friendly customer service though we had to ask for the table to be cleaned which was promptly done. it was a bit busy with the other tables taken, the noise level was absolutely fine with a mixed customer demography. Our orders were taken quickly and the food arrived within a few minutes. I had the popular Mokum cheeseburger and my ‘guests’ had the ‘Build your own burger - a double cheeseburger and the mini burger. The unanimous verdict was that the burgers were ‘delish’ and an overall tasty experience. We had to order a second mini burger as 1 wasn’t filling for the 10 year old. Fair prices for location and quality of food. Will visit again.

If I could turn back time, I would do it and turn it back so far that I wouldn't go to this burger place. €15 for a mini burger? Seriously, €15 for this small burger (the pictures) is a disgrace! The burger was okay but definitely not for €15! You can get entire meals elsewhere and this burger won't fill you up. The service is extremely bad and unfriendly. When I ate there, there was a young woman there who was extremely unfriendly and annoyed. This made me feel extremely uncomfortable, as did the group I was with. For the price and the service alone, I would recommend not going there... The atmosphere isn't very cool either. Everything is very cramped and uncomfortable. It gets extremely warm and sweaty in there in the summer. They don't seem to have air conditioning. I would recommend everyone not to go there and instead use their money to eat somewhere else and not waste their time.

Delicious juicy burger, good frites. The cheese on the Mokum burger is really tasty, the burger is very juicy, the freshness and variety of pickles really adds to the experience and I love that they cook their own buns. The burgers are perfectly cooked every time I visit. Fries and drinks are a bit pricey, but the burgers are excellent value for money. Service is friendly and helpful. Edit: 2 years on and this place is still knocking out the juiciest, tastiest burgers in Amsterdam. The cheese is to die for. They accepted our order at 21:50 despite closing at 22:00. Super chilled and friendly staff. Love this place.

I had too high expectations from other people's reviews. As a lonely middle-aged man, I was clearly invisible to the waiter who was busy flirting. The veggie burger showed that someone could cook, but the good filling was in a bun that was so dry it threatened to dissolve into dust. Noooo.

A really fine gourmet burger bar. My wife and I visited in early March, we chose it as it was right across from the zoo and looked good. We were correct! Being a bit if a truffle hound I chose the Beef Royale, and it was wondrous, perhaps the best burger I've ever had. My wife went with a standard cheese burger and she enjoyed it greatly. I also had a banana milkshake which was delicious. If you're in the area you should give it a visit. Highly recommended.

The food is mind blowing: home-made ketchup, mayo and fries with the locally purchased and manually processed meat. If they have it on the menu, the Manchego burger is a must: zesty-sour apple with old sheep cheese, a combination you can never forget. Next to the quality of the food, the service is friendly and kind. If you are visiting Artis, you should give this place a go. They accommodate you as long as they have the ingredients available: mix and match as you like. Simply superb.

This place is an absolute must! The place is located just opposite to the ARTIS park, easy to reach on foot and public transport. The food is exquisite. All ingredients of the burger are local, hand made and fresh. Size, ingredients, composition are all variable to taste and like. The quality is extremely good, the waiting is very nice and fast. All food had a mild, yet characteristic taste, delicious and not overwhelming. I tried the beef and sheep cheese burgers, I ate it mixed as mini burgers. The only thing I regretted was not being able to eat two full size burgers of them. 😃 The fries were visibly freshly cut and made, sauces also home made - so really, really everything is handmade here. The restaurant is relatively small, with an outside area, which is also nice because it doesn’t get overcrowded. All in all: go for this one!

Il miglior hamburger di Amsterdam.. cottura della carne alla perfezione.. carne buona e panino pieno al punto giusto.. molto molto buono..ci sono dei pub buoni li dove servono ottima birra ..qui non servono alcol ma ho preso un shake alla banana gustosissimo..e nessun pub e nessun altra hamburgeria arriva a fare questi panini ad Amsterdam.. ci siamo trovati per caso perchè situato di fronte allo zoo ARTIS quindi nel caso andiate ad Amsterdam molto probabilmente andrete anche allo ZOO e la cosa più praticare e furba da fare e andare li.. il prezzo è giusto considerando i prezzi di amsterdam.. purtroppo non ho fatto foto ma ce ne sono molte di altri utenti..

We ate there while on a visit in Amsterdam, since a lot of people were recommending it online. Clearly not disappointed ! The service was nice and we didn't have to wait for too long, and the food was excellent. Highly recommended !

Very good burgers especially the Mokum Burger

A fantastic spot to enjoy delicious burgers at a reasonable price (though fries are not included with the burger). The cook/server was incredibly kind and welcoming, making the experience even more enjoyable. My only issue was that the plate was a bit too small for the size of the burger 🤣! If I lived in Amsterdam, I’d definitely return.

I've been here twice, because of the vegan falafel burger! The name is a bit misleading; it is beyond heavenly and nothing like the average "falafel" you might think of. It's the best vegan burger I've had. The burger itself is self-made from actual vegetables, so none of the "fake meat" stuff there; it has a sufficient amount of sauce in it as opposed to almost any other burger I've had in the NL; the grilled vegetables are genius and make it even more juicy; it just tasted so amazing! It's also big! Just make sure to eat the burger with cutlery, otherwise it will be all over the plate. I'd be happy to see another vegan burger on the menu too, as well as a vegan dessert. The place itself isn't the most cozy, but your burger-y needs will surely be fulfilled!

Food is good. Nothing to add on that regard. Service staff REQUIRES owner’s attention. First thing you notice - guy prepares burgers barehanded. How hygienic is that — decide yourself. IMO it is not acceptable. Second stuff. Imprecision is what ruins impression immediately, especially when you are hungry. You explicitly order two burgers and waiter brings you one, forgetting about second. Even if he wouldn’t hear clearly, blame is anyway on restaurant, solution is so simple that almost makes me laugh: just confirm order before leaving table of customer. As making one guest waiting for another is unspeakable and leaves terrible impression. Hope this review helps to improve your service.

The food is delicious but the service is bad

The burgers are very good, you can select how cooked you want your patty + all ingredients are fresh. Service could be a bit faster and bit more smiles but the food makes up for it.

The food tasted very good and the service was attentive and patient. But it was also very fresh, almost cold inside. In terms of price, it is also appropriate considering that prices have risen everywhere.

After a long trip around Amsterdam, we decided to try this place out. There were 10 of us and even though we hadn't booked a table there was room for all of us. The burgers tasted fantastic, and you could taste the well-chosen ingredients. A fantastic place where they put love into the food. Huge recommendation from here.

Few burgers on the menu, but they are excellent. There is even a vegan menu. 70€ for 4. It's a really good place.

It was one of the worst services I had in years. The waitress boy was not able to do 2 things at the same time, we received the wrong sandwiches, we asked for Ketchup 3 times, and after 30 minutes waiting, we got some industrial tomato sauce, also I had to enter the shop to ask for another drink 3 times because the boy could not complete one task, he open the bottle then somebody asked something and he fotgot about our drinks, then we asked again and he went back to get our drinks, then a customer order the bill and he forgot our drinks again, we received our drinks after asking 3 times, the guy just could not complete 1 task. When I tried to pay, there was another customer waiting for fork, and she was complaining to be asking 5 times and waiting 30 minutes, and at the end it was not cheap. Definitely do not recommend.

Good burger joint opposite the entrance to Artis. They only use fresh ingredients, plenty of choice, the milkshakes are also tasty! Service very nice and attentive. If you are stressed about choice (like me) you can go for the mini threesome. They can also make every burger on the menu in mini size, so you can taste three 👍

I ordered online. After one hour, called them to ask about the order, they had no clue where it is. The guy that answered the phone was clueless and didn’t even care.

The ketchup is not tasty. Tastes like cold pasta sauce. Mayo not tasty. Fries very greasy. Burger okay.

Had my first lamb burger at this place and really liked the taste and the texture, especially with the roast onions. Also the first time I had a burger with corn on the cob as a side dish - that was also delicious. Paired with a local IPA this was a great meal. The location is also charming and the service quite chill. Try it out for a great burger!

I've always been reluctant to visit burger places that look chain-y, but this was absolutely the right choice. We visited a couple of times during a 5-day stay, and the server working outside recognised us, had a lovely chat, was incredibly helpful and friendly - an absolutely lovely person. Burgers and especially chips are delicious and price is very good as well - a place I'll definitely visit again next time.

We loved this place, the burger is delicious, especially the MOKUMSHEESE, the cheese, the bread with the touch of Deli butter. You must order the potatoes with truffle mayonnaise, really delicious. They gave us a complimentary red fruit smoothie to try that was delicious. The boy who prepares the food makes sure it is to your liking. I recommend it.

Abbiamo cenato in questo locale domenica sera. Locale internamente piccolo (ha anche qualche tavolo esterno). Fortunatamente non era pieno, quindi siamo riusciti ad incastrare il passeggino in modo che non desse fastidio. Panino e hamburger molto buoni e personale super disponibile. Ce ne sono diversi in città. Consigliato.
