I’ve known this place for years since I work nearby and many of my colleagues ( tomtomers 😆) go there. I was never really a fan because, as a non-smoker, I didn’t feel very comfortable. I went back this weekend, and it was actually really nice: some tourists around, a bit of sports on TV, and a friendly waitress. Plus, the prices are among the most competitive in the area: €5 a pint and €6 for a Guinness. Right across from centraal station.

Irish pub-style, excellent food, less than €20. Unfortunately, the owner seems to have changed, and some classic dishes have disappeared from the menu. Nevertheless, definitely worth a visit.

Excellent pub food and great staff. Huge beer collection. Great location in an interesting art deco building next to the amazing St Nicholas basilica. Conveniently opposite Central Station and on the edge of the red light district. Great lounging space downstairs. They also cater for group events in a very interesting space. Highly recommended.

Very good place, the truth is that good meetings happen there, and the people are always very nice.

A very pleasant company and the icing on the cake. They serve Czech there, and also have a great conversation in their native language :-)

I’ve been coming to this bar for years, up until this barman at night made us feel really unwelcome by cursing us, provoking us, and wanting to pick a fight. For sure he has issues and the management needs to pay attention on who they hire. Besides that, no tap water now in a pub in Amsterdam? Sad to say I will stop going after so many years of good memories.

Both bartenders at night are just a shame and sad, not sure what they're going thru but they are rude, surely on something, and need the job. Save yourself and go somewhere else, plenty of places around.

Cold and non-commercial welcome after a big reservation. Unpleasant boss as possible.

The manager is not cordial at all. Addresses the customer without respect. Spills sauce on customers' jackets during service.

It’s a shame the new barman is the rudest person in Amsterdam, literally was about to go into the establishment to meet a friend I was texting, was told to move away from the door, so I did. I was then spoken to like rubbish by someone who seems to think 21st century Amsterdam is 1980s Belfast, he had to be told to stop acting like a child because of how rude and aggressive his behaviour was and then told me to stop using the Wi-Fi 😂 which wasn’t being used. Been going in this establishment for years but not any more, managers of this place need to establish some control over their staff who will end up causing provocative issues at the bar. Really is a shame

Went there Sunday 12 January’25 for a Sunday roast at 1-ish and they were closed! Wandered around Amsterdam trying to find something decent to eat for hours after that disappointment.

El personal era amable. Lo bueno es muy pobre, pidió una hamburguesa salió fría y el bollo de hamburguesa duro como una roca. Enviado de vuelta salió 5 segundos después igual que antes. El socio pidió un filete medio bien hecho y tiene un filete raro.

Very nice place and excellent and well-served food, the best coffee.

Great for a drink and a game of cards while waiting for a train or just after a day walking the streets sightseeing.

This place used to be a really nice spot to enjoy a meal and have a smoke. Now, you can’t smoke inside anymore, which I respect. So, I asked the bartender, 'Can I roll inside and smoke outside?' He said yes. After about 20 minutes, an older man who also worked there and had overheard my question walked by while I was rolling and rudely said, 'You can't roll here.' He seemed to really dislike it, judging by his energy. He was also quite condescending and clearly wanted to attract a certain type of tourist. It’s disappointing. We native Dutch speakers are tired of non-Dutch speakers taking over everything and ruining the experience. Why open a bar in Amsterdam if you look down on people who smoke weed? Some of the wealthiest and most intelligent people smoke.

I went with my friends from abroad for quick dinner before the take off. Everything was perfect. Kind answer to my reservation, good food, nice atmosphere, and great view over the canal. The most impressive was the attentive and kind service. I strongly recommend this place. I will definitely visit again.

A empty and poor salad for 15€… No more to add

Went here for the Sunday Roast and a few pints. It did not disappoint. Pints were lovely poured by Katarina and Dominic, a warm welcome and looked after. But the star today was the Sunday Roast. 2 big slices of beef, veggies included cauliflower, broccoli, green beans and carrots. Roast potatoes and 2! Yorkshire puddings. Separate gravy, mustard/horseradish. Was a happy chappy. Great bar, friendly staff and great food. BTW pint wasn’t too bad either.

There were 13 of us there for burgers and we were all very satisfied. It was very tasty and the service was very funny and relaxed and always had a funny saying on her lips. A rustic interior makes everything very cozy. Any time.

Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Ich habe aber noch nie so schlecht gegessen. Steak 2 x kalt serviert. Es war ungenießbar. Der Koch hat seinen Beruf verfehlt.

Superb Sunday roast. If you're english and reading this. The roast blows your local tasteless carvey away. Never had a roast like it.

We called in here for a drink and some snacks. We had nachos to share was lovely. Coupled with a beer and a cheeky wine. I popped to the toilet and there was a sign telling woman if they were in trouble go to the bar and they would be helped it brought tears to my eyes. What a place!! Great staff lovely lady served us would recommend

Sunday roast was delicious! Gravy was the best for me but everything disappeared from my plate :) Lovely feeling from the place and service was very friendly and accommodating.

We visited following a recommendation from a kind local lady. Delicious food good atmosphere. It is allowed to smoke weed without tobacco. Good range of beers and spirits.

The bar lady was nice and friendly and the music was good. I enjoyed my full english breakfast. They had a lot of beer options and a good smoking room but I didn't have much time to try and I was hungover.

I wish I could give more stars to our Ajax supporting hostess! What a wonderful asset you have in her! She will be the reason we come again and again. Sunday roast dinner was almost as good as mu mums! Highly recommended!

Pleasant Czech service, great beers

Quiet place to have a few beers and snacks and frequented by local people. It has a separate smoking area. An extensive menu of local and Belgian beers and the snacks were all good, especially the bitterballen and potatoes. The staff that attended to us was very friendly.

Came for an English breakfast but was too late so ordered a BLT and was gorgeous, in fact the best I ever had, really tasty well cooked bacon

Food in here is always amazing! A must visit every time I come to Amsterdam. Had the B.L.A.T for lunch - 10/10 unreal. Staff are always friendly, especially the woman, very welcoming kind attitude. Smoking room pretty big and great.

Found by mistake just to smoke a quick joint and ended up loving the place. It’s like a pub where you can smoke drink eat and just chill out. Lovely vibe in there.food is quite good too big portion and tastes fresh and homemade

Very cozy pub restaurant close to central station. Their Sunday roast was a surprise! We were coming here for the English breakfast in the first place. The portion was quite big. There’s lamb, beef, stir fried vegetables, Yorkshire puddings etc. Very filling and satisfying.

Cozy place, great atmosphere, friendly staff, good selection of beer. One of the best fries I had in a long time. Fair prices as well.

The bar inside is very nice, old fashioned and wooden; they also broadcast some football and rugby matches, the beers are adequate for the prices of the area and it is still a stone's throw from the central station, recommended.

Batavia Sunday roast is the best meal I’ve ever eaten

The staff were so incredibly friendly and the food surprised the hell out of me! I was just expecting very average pub grub, but this place knocked out it out of the park with all the deep fried delicacies. Best part is they have a smoking room in the back! HIGHLY recommend for a great atmosphere and food.

Pub style restaurant bar. Happened to be there on a Sunday when they served their legendary Sunday Roast. That was of the best meals I have had in a very long time. Home cooked, fresh ingredients, excellent flavor. My guests were even overly pleased with their simple salads! The staff was very friendly as well.

Used to be way better. Since the bar changed owner its not fun anymore . The owner is not nice and she's quite rude. She only thinks about herself and her bar, but there's little to no service. Food is also not as good as it used to be.

We just kind of happened upon this place, saw a sign saying Sunday lunch and decided to try it. The bar tender was super friendly and the lunch was excellent. I can highly recommend it. They only do it on Sunday though, the other days it is something else like fish and chips.

Probably the best place I have ever found in Amsterdam to chill, eat and relax. I will most definitely be back, staff are amazing and the owner is a really nice guy. Great place it’s that simple.

Simply one of the best Cafe bars in Amsterdam, Cannabis smoker friendly, seperate smoking room for users. Staff are outstanding, every effort is made to make you feel welcome and safe. They have a wide range of various beers and all the other usual suspects too. Food is an home cooked affair, straight forward and honest. The bar itself is clean, nothing is left for any amount of time and it is whisked away, tables are kept very fresh. There is also outside seating area. Will i return, yes it crazy not too.

Not much can go wrong with deep-fried food so no miss there, but the service was pretty poor (thanks to the kitchen staff we did get our snacks) and the reserved room was unwelcoming to put it mildly: the room smelled like mold, the chairs and tables were stacked and the whole room was dirty. Not so sure I'd go here again.

This is my favo local pub in town. I love the beers they have on tap. Great music, most of the time 70-80's classic rock. Try the Skuumkoppe.

After looking for an alternative to places like la grotte and wonder bar we found this place as you can smoke bud drink and eat easy enough to find if you’ve got Google maps asked for a beer recommendation from lady behind the ramp dark hair didn’t get her name she didn’t have a clue and asked the younger guy who just pointed at one of the pumps .. heard a lot of other reviewers mention Good beer recommendations from the staff here ? Not today son ! Anyway got the drinks quickly and prices were reasonable for Amsterdam 13 euro for two pints ! Went out the back for a cheeky dooobie and you know how it is the munchies set in ( terps army delivered on there stuff )!! If you now you know !! So went to the bar to order another drink and food .. paid for both assuming the drink would be poured then and there but it wasn’t ? Then was told my table number given a ticket and just assumed she’d bring the drink along with the food or shortly after ? Nope so sat there mouth drier than the look some Dutch fellow gave me if I asked him Could I smoke in his pub ( got the wrong place! Blame winston ! .. nickname For my wife the better half ! Anyway the beer did not arrive so awkwardly I had to go back up to the bar bare in mind I’m three joints deep and one of them was some cali shizzle that had my mouth and body not working together and one has come to expect !! Anyway I’m at the bar the legs are like Jelly the mouth is dry and the lady is like hey and I was like a I get the beer I ordered and another coke she went onto say you didn’t get the beer nope I didn’t you was meant to give me it?? Anyway I put it down to confusion but was beyond awkward let me tell you ! Food wise was decent that gravy they give you with the sausage in batter lovely bit of spice too it .. and fish was very good too would recommend if your after a place that offers everything service abit strange then awkward but these things can happen

Amy was the most welcoming host, full of fun and drinks came fast. Also beautiful food from the Blt to the steak and ale pie !! Fantastic job would really recommend!!
