A Dutch bar with a nostalgic atmosphere It's time to watch the world unfold under the setting sun. This traditional Dutch bar at a crossroads is just what I want. Red brick walls, aged burgundy wooden chairs, and home-brewed beer...time seems to have stood still, while traffic buzzes outside. The coffee is pretty good.

Wish we were hungry because the food looked amazing! We had some beers, good spot to sit by the window and watch the bustling city outside while relaxing inside! Excellent, friendly service!

Very good bistro, we had breakfast, plentiful and reasonably priced, plus the decor is typical of an old Dutch bistro, we recommend it without reservation.

Café Berkhout is my go-to spot for a perfect pint of Heineken. Always fresh and full of flavour, easily the best I’ve had anywhere. The cozy brown bar atmosphere feels welcoming whether it’s sunny or rainy. The staff are friendly and genuinely make you feel at home. Big thanks to Betty and Sam for making every visit special!

The Croissant Amsterdam is highly recommended! The staff are super friendly, the food and drinks are delicious, and the café is in a prime location. We had breakfast here before heading to the Heineken Experience.

The breakfast was delicious and large, it can be shared between 2 people and it is at a very good price. If you are going to do the Heineken tour in the morning, I recommend having breakfast at this place. The service is excellent and they have a very pleasant atmosphere and music.

Everything was perfect! Tom (owner) works together with the staff washing dishes and glasses. The food was great, beer was excellent and the lady serving us was exceltional. Trully recommend this place.

My partner and I stopped by after the Heineken experience tour, Lidia and Adelina were very kind and attentive to us. We had a boat tour at 13.30 and they were more than happy to accommodate to us and give us take away containers. Once we came back from the tour Lidia offered plates and cutlery for us to finish our meal and we stayed for more beers. The food was delicious. Overall they made our experience at the cafe amazing .

Visited here twice because we enjoyed it so much! Highly recommend the croissant with scrambled eggs, cheese and bacon. The mango juice was good as well.

The food was decent. Had a cheese & bacon burger. Nothing special but also not bad. The service was friendly. What really made it a one time only visit for me were two things: there was this weird smell in the cafe that I really can't describe. And the terrible mainstream pop/dance music really didn't fit the atmosphere of the cafe and was super annoying.

Nee afschuwelijk. Barkeeper spreekt geen Nederlands. Wij hadden behoorlijk wat drank besteld en betaald .laatste drankje zeiden wij van het huis. Barkeeper zegt yes. Later moesten we toch betalen. Hij zei begreep het niet. Echt belachelijk en hij belde 112 toen wij met hem in discussie wilde gaan. Vele klanten stonden achter ons. Uiteindelijk betaal en werden zo de deur uitgezet. Echt hele negatieve ervaringen van een leuke dag met mijn vrijwilligers.

A nice spot on the corner opposite to the Heineken Experience. We stopped by after getting soaked and wanting something warm to eat and drink before continuing our day. Staff were quick and friendly. We ordered the Veggie Spring rolls and Fried Cheese from the snack menu and they were delicious. They had a full menu with a selection of food and drink that could suit anyones needs.

Un bonito lugar en la esquina opuesta a la experiencia Heineken. Pasamos después de empaparnos y querer algo caliente para comer y beber antes de continuar nuestro día. El personal era rápido y amable. Pedimos los panecillos de primavera Veggie y queso frito de la carta de aperitivos y estaban deliciosos. Tenían un menú completo con una selección de comida y bebida que podía satisfacer las necesidades de cualquiera.

Hermoso pequeño pub en una esquina por el Museo Heineken. Tomamos unas copas mientras la gente miraba en la concurrida intersección. Sólo vimos a una empleada y estaba en ello. Servir, limpiar, registrarse. El pub estaba oscuro y lleno de decoraciones navideñas. La música era un poco fuerte, pero eso es solo mi opinión.

Great food and drink considering it’s in a tourist spot next to the Heineken museum. Definitely recommend the nachos!

Definitely the best place I’ve been to in Amsterdam so far, honestly one of my favourite places I’ve ever drunk at. Feels instantly welcoming with a really good atmosphere. Musics great, coffees excellent with decent enough prices and although I haven’t tried it the food also looks tremendous. I could not possibly recommend this place any more

As good French people, we had to do the Heinken Experience… While waiting for the meeting time, we went to have breakfast at Café Berkhout located right next door! We chose a savory breakfast (croissant with scrambled eggs, melted cheese and bacon) which was just perfect, accompanied by a very good cappuccino.

It started to rain very hard, the Heineken "Experience" was turning people away if you didn't buy your entrance ticket 6 years before. We stumbled down Stadhouderskade until we stood in front of a very warn and welcoming looking cafe. We, along with a hundred other people fell in to get out of the rain. Unlike them, we got a table, ordered a beer (not Heineken) and a cider, and a delicious lunch. Rain stopped, 75% of the people left, but we stayed to enjoy our beverages and food. Staff was very friendly, food was very good, and of course, the beer was excellent (not Heineken). Busy area, but well worth the effort to find. Skip the "H Experience", Busch Gardens at least has rides. If I can, I would like to return here for a beer (not Heineken) and bowl of soup.

Especialmente feliz y aliviado cuando descubrí que mi bolso había desaparecido en nuestro último día. Solo para regresar y la fe había guardado mi bolso para mi regreso seguro y mucho alivio. Ella rechazó una recompensa y dijo que se sentía aliviada de haberla devuelto. Qué gran persona. Un representante honesto y leal de este pequeño bar.

Great place for a good feed on a cold and wet day. Recommended the 12pm lunch where you get an egg, ham, cheese, toast, bitterballen and soup.

The first bar we found 6 years ago when visiting Amsterdam. Now, a required stop when traveling here! Small, quaint, friendly. Only have had the bitterballen in regards to food. Great place to watch all the cyclists at a busy intersection in the afternoon (get a window seat).

The coffee machine doesn't work and we were told that it was our problem and that we should be up to 20-30. In my opinion, really rude and not at all helpful

Wow what an amazing Dutch Beef Stew! Never have I had a stew (anywhere in Europe) with such depth of flavor. I wish I found this place sooner. Definitely a 10!!!! Adding more information.. Friendly place Gourmet quality breakfast I recommend

Probably the best food we had the entire time we were in the Netherlands! The man serving us told us he makes the best cappuccino in Amsterdam and he was right. Good food, good service, good vibes.

Stumbled across this place before going to the Heineken experience. Small and simple menu of mainly burgers. However amazing food, competitive on price and great selection of alcohol. Small place however amazing vibes and great service.

I went alone for a sightseeing break. I ordered tomato soup and Heineken since I had been having a lot of heavy meals. It was very delicious and the staff was kind.

I felt the waiter or bar tender was rather rude. Just cause not everyone knows the culture as a foreigner , they don't have to be rude about things. I bought a beer there cause I went to the Heineken experience and it was my lucky day, they closed early for an emergency that night. I went across the street for a beer. The tables are old and ratted so I don't understand the attitude problem. But when I put my beer on the table , the waiter sprinted to me with a bothered look and grabbed my beer, and slammed it down on a coaster to prove a point. To use the coasters. There was loud music playing and many many people . Maybe he was overwhelmed. Why couldn't he just say so kindly . Use his words instead of his passive-aggressive body language. He walked away and didn't even say anything to me after doing that . Like it was my purpose to ruin his night by not knowing that they WANTED TO USE card board coasters on the old dirty tables. It's literally run down. No new decor. I thought it was the actually vibe of the place. The wooden tables and chairs with no cloths. Barely any lighting. I chose it cause it looked less fancy than the other 20 restaurants in the area that sell Heineken. After that interaction, I left and didn't bother ordering food. It was my first time there . No one is walking into restaurants choosing to be rude. Waiters need to stop acting like foreigners are traveling just to irk them. Get a new job then, if everything foreigners do bothers you to the point that you have to be passive aggressive instead of clearly up misunderstandings with your words as a civil adult.

We came in for breakfast and sat down at a table for 4 only to be told we might have to moved if a party of 4 needed the table. Rather than risk being moved in the middle of our meal, I decided to leave there and then. In all the countries I have been to and all the restaurants, bars and cafes I have patronised, I have never encountered such a level of rudeness and unprofessionalism. Basil Fawlty himself has a better understanding of customer service than this lot.

This is just by the Henieken experience and is a nice little bar. No frills and its small but there was a nice mix of locals and tourists in here and it was a good place to stop for a quick drink. 7.50 euro is a bit steep for a beer but I didnt see much difference throughout Amsterdam. It is the capital after all.

Nice pub sat beside the Heineken Museum. Staff member told us about the Jenever that Dutch people enjoy and told us a bit of history about it. Stayed for a few drinks before moving on and I highly recommend visiting.

Lovely brown cafe to sit down for a nice beer. I ate the Farmerburger here and it was a great success, delicious thick burger with tasty fries and sauce. Nice atmosphere and nice view of the bustle of the city outside.

The front of house was ridiculously rude. I witnessed an exchange between her and a much older German lady. Instead of politely saying she doesn’t speak German she instead said “I don’t speak German, you’re in the Netherlands today.” Don’t be so rude to tourists stimulating your economy and spending at your establishment. Further to this, she was rude to us, wasn’t friendly on giving instructions at all. We asked for 3 coffees which were like a 1/3 full when we got. With so many great places in the area, this is a miss.

Café Berkhout is a real brown pub, located at a very busy intersection, but luckily you won't be bothered by that inside. A café where you can still order a headbutt without the staff having to first discuss what exactly it is. Jenever comes from Wynand Fockink, so it's very good. Tourists have also been taken into account, they can order a “cop-stoat-cha”.. Funny!

Dutch breakfast? Everything cold, even the bolied egg...which was boiled probably the night before and pur in the freeze.

Have a cup of coffee here before heading to the Heineken Museum. The waiter's service is very good, the store has the atmosphere of an old store, the fries are delicious, and the au lait is a bit too milky.

I'm in town on business and this place happens to be close by so I've been there a few times now and it's quite nice. The service staff are stellar, knowledgeable about the city, and speak English (if you're worried, but you really shouldn't be in Amsterdam). The food is simple but that's what makes it great. It also comes out at a reasonable time regardless of how busy the place gets. It's a good meal and a great price with great service on a corner near several tourist spots. I can't recommend this place enough, and will be back next time I'm in town.

Ganska liten och välbesökt krog. Trevlig personal och menyn är på engelska. Vi åt deras ”12 o’clock” -meny. En rejäl bricka bestående av dagens soppa, bitterballen, äggsallad, ham and cheese och bröd. Allt kändes hemlagat och smakade gott. Helt ok priser. Rena toaletter och enda minus var att det inte fanns varmvatten när man skulle tvätta händerna. Rekommenderas!
