Stumbled upon this incredible neighbourhood bar on a rainy Sunday during ADE. What was meant to be a quick stopover to shy away from the rain, ended up being some of the most fun hours we had all weekend. Its hard to put into words what makes this place so great, but it must have something to do with the fact that the place was decorated with quirky details everywhere, the bartender was incredibly fun and friendly whilst not being shy to blast some amazing techno, while in the meantime, locals were enjoying their beers and watching football. The place is full of contrasts that somehow just WORKS. We could tell that this was a much loved gathering point for people in the area, who warmly welcomed us strangers into their world! This place is the very opposite of a tourist trap, in the best way possible. Can't wait to take my Dutch boyfriend next time in Amsterdam! And don't forget to read their house rule that are plastered on the door in hand writing, one of them being NO BACKPACKS lol!

The bar is a bit like the owner's favourite club, Telstar: very welcoming and a bit silly; surprising. From day one I felt like a regular here, if only because of the charms of barman Ollie. 'Make yourself at home' is the motto: order snacks from 'Hannie' and eat them inside. Watch football? They'll set up a home cinema for you. Jenever? You get half a duralex. And don't forget the amazing Belgian beer menu. And everyone here is mega friendly!!! A bit folksy, vulgar, but you keep coming back to Brel! A gem of a neighbourhood pub that has become a favourite of many of my friends in a short time. Brelstarrrrrrr

Very nice cafe! And a lovely terrace where you can sit in the sun all afternoon. Staff is very friendly, pleasant and quick to serve. You can watch a lot of football there and there is a huge choice of beer. In short This is where you need to be!

I don't like football, and yet I feel like home in Cafe Brel. Excellent beers, service, company, and music. Try Anna, a local beer, one of my favorites.

Simply fantastic: exactly what you expect from a good Amsterdam brown café. You cannot order bitterballen, but you can order it at the snack bar around the corner. Very nice service, highly recommended

Favorite place to watch a football match despite Ajax's dramatic season. When it's a bit quieter, you'll even be offered a free ball sandwich!

Na grondige en broodnodige revalidatie tot de conclusie gekomen dat t best gezellig was. Goed aanbod aan Belgische bieren, vriendelijk volk (personeel en locals) en goeie pot voetbal kennen kijken. Aanradert 👍🏼

Zoals een bruin café moet zijn. Iedereen is welkom en de barkeeper weet hoe hij zijn klanten moet behandelen. Volop voetbal op de tv’s en echt elke club is welkom. Wij als Rotterdammers hebben een geweldige avond gehad.

Heerlijke kroeg. Leuk publiek, fijne prijzen, beste uitbater. Fijn dat het nog bestaat in Amsterdam!

Alsof je in Vlaanderen bent beland. Toptent, super gezellig! Zalig kaasplankje voor de vegetariërs en dankzij de britse buurtbewoner Benny Ball zit de sfeer er altijd in!

Een echt Volkscafe, gezellig knus en goede bierkaart

Een café zoals een café moet zijn. De clientèle bestaat uit vogels van diverse pluimage, de biertjes zijn nat en het personeel is top.

Zo'n fijne tent. MAES bier erg lekker en mooie prijs. Veel speciaalbiertjes.Geen hipstertent. Bescheiden terras, maar vrijwel altijd als ik kom een plekkie.

Een bijna perfecte mix tussen een speciaalbier cafe en een ouderwets volkscafe. Dit is in drie woorden 'een top tent'

Lekker biertje genuttigd, in een gastvrije omgeving. Ook kun je de voetbalwedstrijden van Ajax bekijken, als je van voetbal houd. Smal-lang terras aan de van Hallstraat. Maar buiten dit al, kan je natuurlijk wat anders nuttigen.

Fijn cafe dit. De bar gasten altijd in voor een praatje en een lekker zonnetje op het terras aan het einde van de dag. Uitgebreide kaart speciaal bieren! Goed vertoeven hier & lekker weg van de massa.

Era un bar cafetería Brel nos encontramos ya íbamos camino a la gran Cervecería Troost, que está a sólo 5 minutos a pie de aquí. Es un pub de gente, una larga barra estrecha con una decoración magnífica y muebles de madera, incluyendo una muy larga que sirve de bar y asientos opciones dispersas por todo el bar. Estuvimos aquí un sábado por la noche y este lugar estaba lleno de un ambiente fantástico, un miembro del personal muy agradable tomó nuestra orden de un par de cervezas y nos decidimos a tener una gran cerveza de Bélgica y optaron por la cerveza de koninck y estas cervezas nos sirven de sólo nos relajamos y nos empapamos de la gran ambiente en este bar excelente. La cerveza era increíblemente buenos, me gusta de Koninck, es una cerveza con carácter real y muy sabroso y muy fácil de beber. Realmente disfrutamos de nuestras cervezas antes y nos fuimos para una primera visita nos quedamos muy impresionados con el gran bar. Cafe Brel es fácil de encontrar, nos subimos al tranvía (tranvía 10) hasta la parada Van L Stirumstraat Hallstraat y caminar Van eran encontrará este bar. Las horas de apertura son: de lunes a jueves, de 3:00 a 1:00 horas. Viernes y sábado, de 3:00 hasta las 3 de la mañana. Domingo, 3:00 a 1:00 horas. Un gran bar y vale la pena.

Top barkeeper, lekkere muziek op zaterdag door ietwat beïnvloedbare DJs. Nice audience. Kortom hang aan de schone toog, lul slap met de barkeeper met een vaassie in je hand. Life is good.
