Café Cuba in Nieuwmarkt/Lastage

My girlfriend and I wanted to enjoy a delicious cocktail in the evening and stumbled upon Cafe Cuba. Inside, it's a small, very authentic Latino bar with a great atmosphere. Spanish music plays in the background. The cocktail menu is impressive. The prices are fair – and honestly, you'd happily pay €11-€13 for a good cocktail, right? 😉 Food/snacks are available. We had the nachos with melted cheese. Highly recommended for a light snack. The staff is super friendly!! Definitely worth a visit ☺️

On September 10, 2025, there were four of us in this café. The waiter had an accident, and the tray containing two large mugs of hot chocolate and a Corona beer spilled all over me. I was completely soaked and dirty, from my shoes and socks to my pants, hoodie, T-shirt, jacket, and even my leather bag. Thinking the stains would wash out, I left it at that. Unfortunately, that wasn't the case, and my relatively new dark blue pants (June 2025) had lighter streaks after washing. I tried several ways to contact the café afterward. I finally succeeded, but unfortunately, I received no further response. The owner said he would report the damage to his insurance company, but after I explained that I didn't have anyone in the Netherlands who could collect the compensation in person or even come to the café, my repeated inquiries went unanswered. 😊 ... Like I said, things can always happen, but then you should own up to it and pay for the damage instead of acting like this. I'm not responsible for anything and I'm stuck with the costs!!!

Big thanks for the guy who served us outside because we ordered and few times didn’t get the drinks…. But he handle it , maybe the owner should put more barman/barmaids

We had a really good moment in there, the two waiters/bartenders, Redouan and Tunde, were lovely, the drinks were reaaally nice and the prices are really affordable, especially for this zone. So to conclude, i really recommand it and i hope you’ll enjoy the moment as much as we did ❤️❤️

The place is very cool. As a true Cuban, I loved finding a little piece of my homeland in Amsterdam. The strawberry daiquiri is very good; it's not too strong, but it has a good flavor.

Unfortunately, it was a rather disappointing visit. Our table wasn't cleared for a long time, and the service took a long time, but at least it was friendly. The first round of cocktails consisted almost entirely of ice cubes, so there was hardly any leftover drink. The sangria in the second round didn't impress us either. To be honest, we expected something better for the price.

The staff is completely useless. They stand behind the bar and don't serve anything, just friends.

El personal del bar era absolutamente caballero. Calma y eficiente. Voltear cálido y acogedor dentro. Los chicos te prestan atención cuando lo necesitas y te dejan solo cuando quieres estar solo. Conocen su oficio. Malditas cosas buenas, señor.

We went to drink a Cocktail in this bar, good atmosphere, good cocktail (after having to order 2x from the same person) Long service, poor organization, things go a bit in all directions. We ordered a second cocktail after 20 minutes, tired of waiting, we decided to go and pay the bill and surprise we were charged for 4 cocktails, and we noticed that they were there ready behind the bar... (except that it was too late, we were dressed and ready to leave) Too bad because they are really good but the waiting time is too long, I can't even imagine when it's crowded with people..

Terrible. Unpleasant staff, too busy sitting and talking to friends than serving the customers. We didn't eat. Just stopped in for a drink. Was served the worst Mojito I have ever had. We couldn't drink it. Would definitely not recommend this place.

Great bar, ideally located. The cocktails are really inexpensive and really good. The service was a little long, but the staff is very friendly, accommodating and smiling, so can be disturbing.

A great little place that we stumbled on only scored the atmosphere so low because there was only us and one other person here. Had a toastie, and a beer. Great place to watch the world go by.

Fake. I came here waiting to see something resembling my home. The decoration felt fake, the food was a mix of mexican and spanish food, nothing cuban, not even a hint. The decoration felt very fake, and there was not even a cuban beer, and you can certainly find them in Europe, bucanero (called cubanero in Europe), or Cristal (Palma Cristal in Europe). It was a bit heartbreaking to see my culture used once more for empty aesthetics. I entered, sit excited, saw the menu, and walked away. A little effort goes a long way, and you could be different from all those clonic places serving mexican food.

Excellent place in this Cuban bar in Amsterdam. I recommend you ! We were very warmly welcomed by the staff on site, the prices are reasonable and we advise you to try the local specialties of beer and tapas. The place is also very well located.

Gran marisco en la ciudad costera, servicio rápido y muy amable, nuestra comida llegó a nuestra mesa antes de que nos dieran bebidas. Cenamos en la terraza a la sombra con sombrillas.

Buena terraza, buen restaurante. Uno de mis lugares favoritos para ir! Vengo aquí muy a menudo con amigos y colegas. Nacho es uno de los mejores miembros del personal!

Highly recommended!!! I live in Scheveningen and I come here at least twice a month on weekends, this is seriously the best bar I know, the cocktails and drinks are nice and strong and value for money. Fresh ingredients in the cocktail are not something you see everywhere and the beer also tastes good (carbon dioxide CO2 bottle is properly adjusted). The food is also very tasty, inside it looks like you are in Cuba, lovely warm atmosphere. Location is beautiful. Outside you have a beautiful view, it remains a terrace, but nevertheless it is fine. Servers are very friendly!

Sat on the terrace for a few hours, sangria, sandwich with aioli. And Nacho with chicken and cheese... Top. Service was quite busy with herself and an acquaintance sitting on the terrace. We were helped after about 20 minutes, 6 tables occupied by 2 people. To be repeated. Nice location, not too busy.

We hosted our son and a large group of his friends here for drinks and appetizers. They did a great job keeping up with hungry and thirsty 20-somethings and the food and drinks were delicious. We had a great time

Bad!!! Wanted to have something to drink and eat in an empty shop... Gambas not in the house, another choice was made: quesadilla with chorizo, very simple, fairly tasteless and not special and the chef is cutting open a pack from the AH. Furthermore, it took an incredibly long time! Before it was on the table (we were 8) And one of us only got the food when everyone had finished eating... That's not very nice and we didn't get any apologies or compensation for this either!! Hospitality is hard to find and a hefty bill of €210 for bad food and bad service

The food and vibe is good but there is something wrong with the staff… So first we ordered tapas as starters and mentioned the main dish also to be served later on. They brought everything all together… Out of that the blonde woman that works there is not really the kindest one… when we asked to split the bill she said: “f… my life”, its kind of funny but actually completely stupid also to just say that in front of the client. Luckily the other male colleague came and did it as she did not want to do it I suppose.. heads up for the guy with the brown hair, you were kind.

The Cortado tast was good and the atmosphere was nice.

Ik was daar en maakte kennis met de bar manager een dame, Laura. Ik moet zeggen zover ik dat kon beoordelen dat Laura de drijvende kracht is achter de operationele gang van zaken mbt horeca gelegenheden in Bar/café Cuba. Mijn complimenten, een zeer charmante dame, met kennis van zaken.

We went here with a group in the evening. I didn't eat anything, but the various snacks I saw looked good. The drinks are very tasty, they can make great cocktails. The atmosphere inside was cozy with soft music in the background.

The food is amazing, as are the drinks. Unfortunately the delivery time is pretty low and it doesn’t always fit exactly what you ordered ahah. But overall a pretty good and nice team, great food and a fun experience overall.

Nobody speaks Spanish, the scam

Ambiente temático de Cuba, geralmente tocando música latina. Cerveja de torneira boa, mas não tão gelada. Os garçons foram simpáticos e gentis. A margarita estava saborosa. O nacho melt é muito bom e o hambúrguer de bacon é maravilhoso. Recomendo o local 😃👍

Lekker gegeten gambas waren heerlijk. Alleen cocktails overprised nauwelijks alcohol teveel ijs maar als je iemand bij de bar ziet die met d'r handen in dr haren zit en vervolgens met haar blote handen weer ijs in je glas zet dan word je er niet zo vrolijk van. Wel aardig personeel en een gezellige knusse sfeer.

Very nice Café, staff is friendly and efficient and they value quality. We had the Serrano croquettes they were very good.

Super lekkere cocktails, lekker eten, goede service, leuke sfeer

Garnalen Piri Piri ligt in een sloot van zonnebloemolie: €11,50 Portie brood met aioli €4,50 portie calamari’s smaakte goed maar €7,50 erg duur voor de hoeveelheid. (Zie foto’s) De sfeer is goed in het café. De Nederlands sprekende ober vriendelijk. Maar dit is de eerste en laatste keer dat ik er kom eten.

Schöne kleine Bar mit kubanischem Flair. Gibt auch eine Snackkarte. Bitterballen haben sehr gut geschmeckt. Für gehbehinderte Personen leider nicht unbedingt zu empfehlen. Die Toiletten sind im oberen Stockwerk. Treppe ist wie so oft in Amsterdam steil und schmal. Tolle Lage in der Stadt.
