Cafe de Ebeling in Helmersbuurt

This was an absolute horrible experience. We did a ‘pup quiz’ here, but it was just a chatgpt questionnaire and not even music over the speaks of the bar.. just a small JBL speaker…

Super nice service, friendly people. The food was delicious, but it wasn't very busy during dinner time.

Stopped in for a quick drink and snack based on the name, Ebeling (wife’s maiden name). Quick service and good drinks / food.

Luana helped me tremendously. She knows exactly when the glasses need refilling ;)

This weekend, I organized a party for over 40 people at the Ebeling. This was made possible by the fantastic staff, who were incredibly helpful and exceptionally friendly. All in all, a very successful evening - I'll definitely be back!

Drinks a bit expensive, but normal for the area.

Came for dinner and was greeted by a lady who let us choose our seats. We looked through the menu and waited more than 10 minutes but no one paid attention to us despite it not being too busy. The other male waiter was serving other customers and went inside and saw us a few times but did not come over. At some point some other customers were starting to notice we were not being served, but the waitress and waiter continued to act like we weren't there and even had time to make small talk with others. Walked out disappointed. Hope it was not because we weren't "local" enough.

We only had drinks, and that was fine l!!

Quick stop for a beer, a curly and cute waitress with a contagious smile made my stop a moment to remember with pleasure. The place is spacious and quiet

You must taste the Dutch beef! It's fantastic! The berger was also great! And the people working there were great too! We all liked this place very much!

A really great place for a nice drink on the terrace and a delicious dinner. On Fridays there is also dancing when the DJ plays!

Good location with a nice and sunny terrace. Semi good selection of drinks, maybe a little bit pricy. Friendly and fast customer service! Didn't see any food on the menu and didn't even realize they serve food too, so sadly i didn't eat anything.

If you ask to play a song when the whole place is empty, you'll be accused of harassment. Beware of the woman with glasses behind the bar. Beer thrown away by the staff, paid for 3.90. Unfortunately turned away by security. The best part is, the security thinks it's strange, but you're not allowed in... if you're standing at the bar and there's a woman with glasses in front of you, I would skip this place!

This evening we had a very disappointing experience at this restaurant and cannot recommend it. We chose this restaurant based on the reasonably priced and varied menu published on their website and displayed by the front door. However, once seated, we were given a different menu with higher prices and fewer options. We assumed this was the evening menu and ordered from it, only to later see other diners (who were locals) being served dishes from the advertised menu. When I approached the manager, I was told that there was a special menu for online bookings and that staff shortages forced them to offer the alternative menu. This explanation did not make sense, as staffing levels shouldn't affect which menu is offered. To add to our frustration, my chicken satay was inedible—priced at €22, it appeared to have been cooked from frozen and served with a sauce from a jar. My daughter’s burger came with some cheese (which appeared to have been scraped off) even though we had asked to hold the cheese. The photos attached to this review include a picture of the advertised menu and the menu we were given. I explained to the adjacent table, who were also tourists, the reason for taking the picture as they asked about it. Instead of offering a solution, the manager promptly came to our table and reprimanded me. I paid the bill in full even though I didn’t eat my food. This experience felt deceptive and unprofessional, and we left feeling like we had been taken advantage of. Please be aware of this before eating at this restaurant.

We hadden een 3-gangenmenu geboekt via Social Deal. De keuzes werden 1 voor 1 opgenomen. De porties waren zo groot dat we echt tijd nodig hadden om aan het dessert te kunnen beginnen. Als voorgerechten hadden we zowel Buratta als garnalenkroketten. Hoofdgerecht beide frietje stoofvlees en als dessert allebei dame blanche. Voor de bierliefhebber zo'n 10 verschillende tapbieren.

Cozy tent! The evening starts nice and quiet, enjoy a drink with a bitterbal (or in the past with a flammkuchen). Later in the evening the lights go low and the music goes loud. Party!

There were a group of 8, small tables where, when serving the food, some vases and candles had to be removed from the table to make room for the plates. Food was good and sufficient

Best local bar we found during our trip to Amsterdam. Filled with great local people who were all super welcoming. The bar staff were so friendly too and we were extremely surprised and relieved to find a place so close to the centre that didn't charge to use the toilet! Brilliant place that I'll definitely be visiting again next time I return.

Abbiamo deciso di fermarci presso questo locale per ben due volte sempre per consumare il pranzo. La prima volta abbiamo ordinato le mitterballen (foto 1) ed una pizza tipica loro (l’impasto è tra una piadina e la pasta sfoglia. Foto 2) mentre la seconda volta in aggiunta abbiamo ordinato anche un classic hot dog con crauti e mostarda (purtroppo ho dimenticato di scattare una foto). Rapporto qualità/prezzo nella media. Lo consigliamo.

Gezellige tent op loopafstand van uitgaanscentrum Leidseplein. Beschikt over ruim terras en eetzalen binnen. Dat biedt ook opties voor grotere groepen voor borrel of teamuitje. Personeel zeer vriendelijk en attent en bestellingen snel op tafel.

Prima voor een biertje en als je wat wilt dansen na 12u. Jammer dat het niet mogelijk is snacks te bestellen na 22u.

Barátaimmal vacsorázni szerettünk volna és erre a helyre esett a választásunk. Nagyon szimpatikus helynek tűnt kívülről és bent sem csalódtunk. A zene még jobban feldobta a hangulatunkat. Az ital - és étel választás is tökéletes volt. Bár nem volt túl nagy választék vega ételekből, de amit választottam, isteni volt. Barátaim hamburgert ettek. A kiszolgálás gyors és nagyon barátságos volt! Mindenkinek ajánlom szeretettel! 😊

Very friendly and helpful bar staff, carried our drinks to our table, cleared our empty glasses away quickly. Lovely atmosphere, not loud music or rowdy inside, civilised and relaxing, and nice & clean & comfortable.

Visited twice recently during a 3 night stay in Amsterdam. Located directly opposite our hotel. Lara the Manager was fantastic & very friendly. First visit was for drinks, second visit was on a Friday night as Lara told us there would be music - was more like a nightclub on the Friday night but we still had fun. Lara was exceptional in helping a friend who had mislaid her phone, she assisted by using her laptop to access Cloud to locate the phone, which thankfully was located in my friend's hotel room!! We'll done Lara x

Found De Ebeling on the way back to our hotel. Called in for a quick drink and ended up staying for dinner. Fab atmosphere, lively music, amazing burgers and great beer! Friendly and attentive staff who took the time to explain the items on their menu. I will be back for the bitterballen! Highly recommend!

Liked it, it was ok.. They can play a little bit more dancing numbers then oldies... Still the same.......

Superfijne plek. Lekker op terras gegeten. Vispannetje was uitverkocht, maar friet rendang was lekker. Van mij had het gewoon op een bord gemogen, maar verder helemaal prima! Ik kom wel weer terug!
