It's an old pub with a great atmosphere. You do have to pay cash.

Very bad experience. The staff was extremely rude and even kicked us out of the café while insulting us. This is unacceptable behavior and I do not recommend this place to anyone.so so badddddddd

The owner or bartender is the most arrogant man in the world. Typical Amsterdam. I also don't understand why the NVWA (Netherlands Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority) hasn't closed this filthy place down yet. Go to Rotterdam, it's much better than this nonsense.

Being in that place was the worst experience ever. The waiter was literally terrible. Even after asking for it, we didn’t get a check. The waiter said ( i’m quoting): first pay, then check. When he „kindly” gave us our order, he was staring at us with face of the serial killer wanting us to leave. No good morning or good bye.

Terrible place. The waiter was extremely rude – refused to give us the bill and basically kicked us out the moment we finished our drinks. Doesn’t speak a word of English and clearly hates tourists. Beer is nothing special and even cheap prices can’t make up for such awful service. The toilet was dirty and broken - also no soap. Avoid this dump.

I was another of the unfortunate victims of the extremely unkind owner of this place. Why open a bar if you just hate all your clientelle? Well, with that location, and an empty terrace during peak hours, they probably won't last long

Absolutely avoid if you're a tourist! The staff doesn't speak English and makes no effort to understand. We were treated with a great lack of consideration. This place isn't worth a visit. Run away!

The restaurant is conveniently located, close to the Red Light district in Amsterdam. While visiting the city, you can drink beer. The bartender is polite and communicative. The only drawback is the inability to pay by card. I recommend !

It's a nice place, there's a friendly conversation going on inside. You can sit comfortably and drink beer, prices were reasonable, 3.7 euros. Only cash is accepted. I don't think there is food, this is an old bar

I've been here many times and enjoy sitting outside enjoying a beverage. The staff is very friendly and when it's raining, I sit inside at the bar and chat with the servers. Great service and atmosphere. 🍻

This is a no-frills bar in the Chinese quarter of busy central Amsterdam so don't expect 5-star service nor be able to use your cards - it is cash only. Nevertheless I love the conservatory seating area which explains the 'de Zon'. Great for a couple of piljes after shopping at the nearby Chinese supermarkets where you can buy the more ethnic Oriental products.

they didn't let us sit just because she wanted to get a drink with a pregnant woman after walking around that Amsterdam thing all day. bad service. you can only pay in cash, really bad. It's not cowardly nonsense

Nice tent, but no sun was seen in the evening. Wonderful ambiance. Food not tasted. Had a delicious draft beer. The waiter also came by to ask if we wanted something to drink. All in all, highly recommended if you are ever in Ams.

Bad, the owner came to our table 5 minutes after we had ordered a round to clean up and took the drink in our faces, there was still a drink left, my Dutch friend came in and ordered another round and I specifically went to the bathroom, the owner told me He stopped at the door pointing out that the restroom for tourists was in the square. From there we realized that it was personal, he only wants Dutch clients on his terrace. My experience in this bar was really bad.💔

Shop with an unfriendly waiter... When he took our order we were told that we should drink up immediately and leave because we were holding up the actual customers??? What kind of cafe is this? He doesn't like stupid tourists. Are you crazy? I've never seen such an unfriendly waiter. Stay away from the store. Absolutely not recommended! Unfriendly employees who like to insult. There are a thousand times better cafes in the immediate vicinity!

Cozy cafe, very nice bartender, but there was a small man who collected glasses who was not customer friendly at all. Just cursed and complained and insulted people. He really ruined the atmosphere. Bit of a shame about such a nice cafe.

Local brewery with varied clientele between tourists and Dutch. They don't have table service. Beers for 3.5. The bathroom was very clean. There is a terrace or interior. Note: you can only pay in cash.

Well placed for a short break in Amsterdam

We visit for a beer or 3 every time we are in town. Hint - it's a bar. Go to the bar. Order. Pay. Drink. Repeat. It's your choice what you make of it.

Cafe de Zon is a real Amsterdam cafe, you can't eat there, just have a nice beer and enjoy the weighing house on the Nieuwmarkt

Sehr freundliche Bedienung. Unsere Hunde haben ohne danach zu fragen, Wasser und Leckerlis erhalten. Der Kaffe war auch sehr gut.

Precioso el sitio por fuera, bonito por dentro, el personal no fue muy amable. Solo tomamos unas cervezas con unas bitterballen, si estas por el centro tienes que ir, consumir, solo si tienes sed.

Best spot on Nieuwmarkt, just for drinks and sitting on the terrace. Everywhere else is manic because of the need to feed!
