We ordered hot chocolate (calling it chocolate is an insult to chocolate), showed the waitress that the glass was broken, and she wanted us to use the unbroken part of the glass... it's okay to be rude to customers, but we're not barbarians!!! Marinucci Roberto

The Cobra Café is perfectly located on Amsterdam's Museum Mile. After an intense art experience, you practically fall into the café, exhausted yet happy, and can reflect on your impressions in a chic, art-loving atmosphere, while enjoying high-quality food and equally delicious drinks. The prices, as is typical in Amsterdam, aren't exactly cheap, but they are entirely reasonable for the location, concept, and atmosphere. Highly recommended!

Understaffed, high prices for cold (should be warm) drink. Soup was not warm either.

Complete tourist trap. Stopped here for lunch, burgers are 20 Euros and poor quality. One of our burgers had meat that turned bad and if we had eaten it would definitely make us sick. Skip this place and walk a few blocks east for some fantastic food.

The restaurant is well located, close to the museum and the ice rink. The service is not great. The tables are dirty, and the food lacks any flavor and is expensive. Total disappointment.

A large coffee shop. The coffee was a little bitter for my taste.

Friendly welcome and service. On the other hand, I was assaulted by the cafe's restroom attendant. She called me "shit" because I didn't understand how to pay the €1 entry fee at a vending machine. She yelled at me. I don't understand how this woman can be allowed to work like this. The other people were outraged to see her speak to me so rudely.

Perfect for dine-in or light snacks after visiting Rijksmuseum as it is conveniently located nearby. I ordered tuna melt and hot chocolate with Baileys, delicious! The staffs were friendly and helpful.

Good little spot close to all the big Amsterdam museums. Not a big menu but the food is good (soups, salads, sandwiches).

This place could be a tourist trap due to its location, but in my opinion, it isn't. The staff is friendly and attentive, orders are delivered quickly, the food is fresh and excellent, and the prices are reasonable. The toilet fee is a bit annoying, but apparently, it can be deducted from your bill. I haven't tried that for the one euro. And it ensures you use a clean toilet that isn't being used by everyone passing by for free. Hungry after a museum visit? Cobra is a great place for lunch.

Tourist food!! Sourdough bread was like a sandwich from the D.K., croquettes with no flavor, a bit of lettuce with no dressing. The soup was way too thin (€9.50!!!). Two coffees, sparkling water, and a cola for €40... Absolutely outrageous. On top of that, there was a fight in the kitchen and shouting (cooking?) that could be heard throughout the cafe for five minutes... Truly beyond words!

Fine place and food ok but one thing that makes it only 3 stars is that you have to pay 1€ for the toilets while being customers, just not acceptable

We weren't even looked after. We had to ask for a menu ourselves after waiting 15 minutes. Then, after another 15 minutes, we had to ask if we could order. It wasn't even busy and there were plenty of staff. There were also pigeons inside, flying overhead.

We only had a coffee to avoid paying for the toilet. It was really delicious. However, the service was really bad. We had to wait a long time to order, even though it wasn't busy.

Everyone seemed busy, but the staff were cheerful and friendly, which was nice. The food was also average considering it's a tourist destination. The bathroom costs 1 euro, but they deducted it from your meal. You can eat in like we did, or just grab a snack or drink.

Do not eat HERE! We ordered 2 Angus burgers and 1 pancake. Each burger cost 20€ and the burger meat was of horrible quality — not even proper meat, more like scraps of skin, bone, or cartilage 🤮. We couldn’t eat it and had to leave our plates as is. Paid 40€ for garbage burgers. I was in the mood for coffee, I got sick and skipped. Would never order anything from this place again.

We sit down, and they bring us menus. After two minutes, a waiter takes the menu we had just placed on the table and leaves without asking for our order. Then another waiter arrives, I explain what happened, they give us the menus back, and we order. I had asked for a dish, but what arrived was something completely different. Never mind... it was edible anyway. The other dish: the beef burger for my daughter, however, was very good. Drinks: they don't have Coke, but Pepsi... oh well. I ask for a water and a Pepsi 0. They bring me a 0.2L water (what do I do with that for lunch?). Shortly after, I ask for a large bottle, which arrives at the end of the meal, after we had, despite eating slowly on purpose, unfortunately finished the dishes we ordered. I see that many people go to the cashier to pay. I'm heading there too. The waiter at the register asks me what he can help me with, and I tell him I have to pay. He nods and continues tidying up the counter, glasses, and talking to colleagues. After five minutes of standing there, ignored, I return to the table. Seeing another waiter charging other customers, I intercept him and ask to pay. Meanwhile, another waiter has already cleaned and disinfected our table, where my daughter was still sitting, asking her to get up because she had to clean up. Meanwhile, I pay the bill standing in the aisle to the intercepted waiter, who asks me if I want to add the service charge. I've rarely not done so, but this time, I cheerfully select a nice "no thanks." As soon as the waiter hears the beep, the transaction is confirmed, he snobbishly walks away without deigning to say hello. A 0 for the staff's skills. A barely adequate rating for the kitchen. I've never written reviews, but it's good to start when you're treated like this.

We stopped at this place before visiting the Van Gogh Museum. We ordered via the app (by scanning the QR code on the table), as the waiters weren't around. Unfortunately, no one seemed to have seen our order, so we had to wait a long time. When the food finally arrived, we still had to wait for the drinks. That said, the food we ordered was very good, and the waiters were very polite and friendly.

I ordered an Irish coffee, but accidentally got an iced coffee. (Maybe that's my pronunciation.) After discussing the matter, they changed it to an iced Irish coffee to avoid wasting it. Fantastic! Really delicious in warmer weather. Great service.

A moment of silence after a moving museum tour at Amsterdam's Museumplein. It was while reliving that moment that I dropped into Cobra Café. Soft afternoon light streamed in through the large glass windows. Despite the hustle and bustle of the city nearby, the cafe had a calming atmosphere. Sitting at a table with a warm wooden feel, I ordered mint tea and homemade apple pie. With each bite, the simple sweetness of the Netherlands spread throughout my mouth, making the bustling street in front of me seem like a still image. At the table next to me, a family with a small child was laughing, while across from me, a couple who appeared to be tourists were spreading out a map and discussing their plans for the next day. The scene felt strangely endearing, and I was able to ponder the meaning of the phrase "on the way." The staff seemed a little busy, but they kept smiling and made an impression on me by looking me in the eye as they greeted me. The service isn't particularly special, but it's that unassuming touch that makes it so memorable. A place where you can take the lingering memories of the museum with you. Cobra Café quietly taught me about the depth of Amsterdam, a city where art and everyday life blend together.

If you're at a prime location and charging €12 for a Weizen, top-notch service should follow. Instead, you have to order via QR code and are asked for a tip before being served. I waited 20 minutes while others who arrived later were helped first. The service was disorganized, the prices outrageous. A real shame for such a beautiful spot with so much potential.

If you want to drink something here, it comes according to the waiters' mood, it takes a long time.

A nice cafe near the Riksmuseum. The snacks are not very good, the drinks are ok. The chairs outside are covered in pigeons, but the staff doesn't pay attention to it. There are many visitors, so it's not easy to catch a waiter to make an order and pay, but the staff is quite friendly.

My friends and I enjoyed the cafe and the cold beers. They had a wonderful hot chocolate with whipped cream, the sandwiches were popular with my friends. The chicken sandwich was plentiful and filling. My friend, Jane liked her egg salad sandwich. It was close to the art museums and close to the 12 line.

We went to the toilet, payed 1€ but received a discount of 1€ for buying a drink. It's a nice place to rest in between a museum's visit and another.

The food here was good but the staff needs to be better trained. After we finished our meal we paid via card the waitress didn't give a receipt. After the payment we were leaving and another waiter stopped using asking if we paid. We told him we paid to that particular waitress and we also explained him we paid via card and the amount paid. When he asked the waitress she flatly denied having taken the payment from us. I mean come on you can't treat customers that way it's basically your job to check things at your end and also remember which payments you have received. Internal lack of communication between the staff shouldn't affect your customers. Please look into this

Using the restroom costs €1, even if you get something to eat or drink. If you don't have the right change, you'll just be told that you don't have the right change. The staff here are completely customer-oriented and will only help you change money or something similar. Everything is extremely overpriced.

Average service; average atmosphere for a simple cafe; low quality; excellent location; and expensive prices for what they offer.

I was shocked to see that the sign in the restroom was written in Chinese, instructing users to flush and throw paper into the toilet. There were no such instructions in Dutch, English, or any other language. This selective signage unfairly targets Chinese-speaking visitors and implies discriminatory assumptions. If a notice is needed, it should be written in all major languages used by international guests. It made me feel uncomfortable and unwelcome. I hope the management can address this issue and show respect to all visitors equally.

A bathroom visit costs one euro. If four people go to the bathroom, you get four vouchers that can be redeemed for orders. Of course, only for four individual orders. Very bad, we won't be back.

Horrible service, went to the bathroom told the waiter to save the seat because I had a reusable water bottle and unfinished food. Unique location, pleasant garden, neat toilet. Unfortunately, the location and reliable customer seem to make them not care about other areas. We ordered cold tea and after a while we received a bag of tea in ice-cold water... After politely asking for at least warm water in which the tea could be brewed, the waitress wordlessly placed half a cup of boiling water in front of our noses and turned around. We will definitely not return.

Nice place to grab a drink and enjoy the view. Cobra Cafe is located behind the Rijksmuseumtuinen in a large outdoor plaza. There is an outdoor section where you can enjoy a nice beer and snacks with a great view of all the activities in the plaza. Service was fasting friendly. This is a really good place to stop when the weather is nice.

We had a terrible experience with one of the waiters of this place. We came here to have lunch before we do our canal cruise. Upon entering, there was no sign or we didnt see any sign “please wait to be seated”. Being a big group of 9, my brother found a corner where we can fit. Since there was no waiter helping us, we tried to arrange the small tables to accommodate our group. After a few minutes, a waiter came by yelling that we should not have moved the tables and told us to return it to the original arrangement which would make our group seat on separate tables. All of us were so shocked with the yelling. It is so uncalled for and we felt so singled out as we are the only Asians in that cafe at that time. We returned the tables to their original place and left. We luckily found a nearby place where customers are respected and not yelled at or discriminated. I wouldnt recommend this place.

Location is convenient. Walking distance to 5 main museums.Food was tasty. My husband and I ordered the same sandwich, He took chicken y wanted the vegan choice. It was excellent, lots of fresh avocado (chicken avocado sandwich and pesto spinach avocado sandwich). My almond milk macchiato was good but extremely small. The homemade apple pie was good but for a cold day a bit warm will be amazing.My husband was disappointed with is tiny iced tea. No free restrooms. Even customers have to pay. Be also prepared for ordering and paying online yourself. Over all, we enjoy it.

Dejados a nuestro lado, encontramos un área donde podíamos encajar como grupo reorganizando las mesas pequeñas. Poco después, un funcionario se acercó a nosotros —no para ayudar— sino para reprendernos groseramente por mover las mesas sin permiso. Si bien entendíamos su política contra la reorganización de los muebles, el tono y la manera en que se nos habló fueron descaradamente groseros, poco profesionales y racistas. Lo que más destacaba era el tono desagradable utilizado hacia nosotros, como si nuestra presencia no fuera bienvenida. Siendo los únicos asiáticos en el restaurante, no pudimos evitar sentirnos señalados y discriminados. En lugar de ofrecer una solución o tratar de acomodarnos, el personal insistió en que devolviéramos las mesas a su configuración original. Sintiéndonos irrespetuosos, decidimos irnos sin ordenar. Como viajeros, respetamos las costumbres y políticas locales, pero también esperamos ser tratados con cortesía y dignidad, estándares básicos de hospitalidad que estaban completamente ausentes aquí. Esta fue una experiencia profundamente decepcionante e inolvidable, y no puedo recomendar este café a cualquiera que busque un servicio respetuoso o inclusivo.

Shocking Service and Discrimination in Action I had an extremely unpleasant experience at Cobra Café, Museum Market, and I feel compelled to share it as a warning to others. My group of seven visited after touring the Market Museum, looking forward to a nice meal. However, from the moment we entered, the staff’s behavior was far from welcoming. Upon entering, no one greeted us or offered assistance in finding a table. Left to ourselves, we found an area where we could fit as a group by rearranging the small tables. Shortly after, a staff member approached us—not to help—but to rudely reprimand us for moving the tables without permission. While we understood their policy against rearranging furniture, the tone and manner in which we were spoken to were blatantly rude, unprofessional, and borderline racist. What stood out most was the unpleasant tone used toward us, as if our presence was unwelcome. Being the only Asians in the restaurant, we couldn’t help but feel singled out and discriminated against. Instead of offering a solution or trying to accommodate us, the staff insisted we return the tables to their original setup. Feeling disrespected, we decided to leave without ordering. As travelers, we respect local customs and policies, but we also expect to be treated with courtesy and dignity—basic standards of hospitality that were entirely absent here. This was a deeply disappointing and unforgettable experience, and I cannot recommend this café to anyone seeking respectful or inclusive service.

The waiter that served us was great. The atmosphere was lovely. We were seated promptly during a busy lunch hour on a Saturday. We ordered a burger, fries and chicken/avocado sandwich. All were great, but the burger was sensational!
