I recommend their apple crumble and a hot chocolate. Both were excellent. The place was cozy and had a lovely atmosphere.

Great place! The only downside was that when I ordered the patatas bravas, the potatoes arrived burnt. Otherwise, the prices are good for Amsterdam city center, and the atmosphere is pleasant.

Just happened to choose Café Katoen by chance but so glad we did. Dan, the barman, was friendly, welcoming, helpful and also had a good sense of humor. There was a good choice of beer and the food was great.

On a bitterly cold afternoon in Amsterdam we took shelter in this small gem of a cafe. Warm and cosy it's the perfect place to thaw out and fill up.

We needed a hot drink to warm us up as it had been a bitterly cold day and found this lovely, cosy cafe. We had hot chocolate and a piece of Apple Crumble cake to share which came to £14 which is a pretty average price for Amsterdam.

The staff ignored us, in the end we went somewhere else

A wonderful place, with soul and an enveloping, cozy atmosphere. We were intrigued by the painting on the wall; it was fascinating to look at, and what characters it depicts! The waiter was incredibly nice and told us about the artist. Unfortunately, I didn't remember his name; I'd love to see more of his work. The food is simple but delicious. A snack with a glass of fresh beer is perfect!

Sheltered out of the rain. We were soaked and had a very wet dog. Made very welcome. Nice coffee and beer. Played same games that were already in the bar. No pressure to move on. Will come again. Thanks Dann for being a great host.

Cozy Amsterdam cafe where board games are on the shelf and where the English-speaking staff is friendly.

Service was not bad. However, there is russia poster on the wall, and also some cocktails has name related to russia cities. That’s awful to have any symbols of the terrorists. I’m disappointed. That’s crazy to support such things, knowing what this country does.

A really cozy place for drinks. I also recommend trying the espresso martini; the owner, Gino, can make some really good ones. Every Thursday, they also have a relaxed DJ night with psychedelic music. You can also sit outside in the sun until late!

Came in to escape the rain and was greeted with a cozy little café. The drinks are reasonably priced and tje service was immediate. The staff within and very friendly and the atmosphere as a whole is amazing.

Came in for a coffee when it was raining. It was a lovely atmosphere with the warm lighting and people chatting. We got served very quickly and our drinks were brought over quickly too. Although we didn’t get any food the prices seem reasonable for the area and there’s a large selection including plenty of veggie and a few vegan options

Excellent little place at a busy intersection where the Amstel and Rokin meet. There is outdoor seating but it was rainy, so inside was the best choice on this day. The windows in the front open, and it was nice to have some breeze and to hear the street sounds. The interior wall has a great urban mural in the style of Herge (the Tin Tin artist). There is a local beer and some others on tap along with a full bar. The service was friendly. I got the Katoen Burger, and wanted to try some regional appetizers so I chose the fish bites and the sausage and mustard. The fish was really excellent! The burger was a bit oversalted for my personal taste, but the toppings were all very fresh.

Stopped in for a late lunch. Ordered the sausage and fried cod bites to start. Both were tasty. The cod bites had an interesting curry flavor, and the grilled sausage was good with the ground mustard and bread. We had the grilled cheese and hamburg8for entrees. Both were good, not great.

Nice corner place with inside room and some outside tables. Characteristic and familiar atmosphere. Different varieties of toasts, sandwiches and dishes in addition to snacks. Good dishes. Service ok. Average price.

A cafe where everyone is welcome, where you can enjoy yourself all day long. The atmosphere is good and the service is friendly and no-nonsense. I wish for a cafe like this for every city.

Nice place in the centre of town between Rokin and Dam square. A few outside seats overlooking the canal and the hustle bustle of town. Reasonable wine/beer choice and probably the largest plate of Nachos in Amsterdam. Pricing is good for Amsterdam.

Frequented place of mine. In the summer the terrace is one of the best places to people watch. Friendly staff, good value and good selection of different grilled cheeses.

Nice pub and drinks. I paid 12 euro for 1 Duvel beer and 1 glass vine. I will come here again :)

spent an evening sitting outside enjoying the warm autmnal evening with a nice glass of wine.. nice central spot if you want to chill out and crowd gaze giving time for your feet to recover after a hectice day museum-gazing :-) didnt have any food, as we did that elsewhere.

The name is deceptive, it is a bistro or a pub, not a café. When we came in it was already 40°C inside. There were also candles on. Why? The waitress was very inattentive and forgot our order. We were about to leave, then it happened. Not really a recommendation.

Amazing angus burger and very friendly service

It wasn't busy when we entered but the wait staff didn't seem that interested in serving us. They gave us one menu and when we asked for extra plates to share our small plates they said to just use the little forks that came with the dishes. Later one of us went to use the bathroom downstairs and heard one of the kitchen workers yelling at the wait staff to come down and help her.

Flott beliggenhet, god mat, sløv betjening. Vi satt ute og sola varmet en ellers kald høstdag. Mye artig liv på gata. Club sandwich, patatas bravas smakte godt. Øl fra fat var dødt og det var betjeningen også, de måtte påminnes våre bestillinger flere ganger.
