This place is truly unworthy of Loetje. We waited over an hour (not just us, but a lot of other guests), it was cold (there was a small extra heater for that), and part of our order was forgotten. No apologies for the long wait. It wasn't even full; they simply lacked direction, oversight, and hospitality. If I were in management at Loetje, I would check this place out.

Reasonable food, not my type of restaurant.

If you love steak, eat here.. simple menu, great food, good prices..

It took a while till they take our order. The steak seemed nice but when we asked for bread for the saus they gave us a very sad tosti bread that you buy from the local supermarket. I would expect better from a restaurant. I ordered schnitzel it was alright but nothing special.

Would definitely be going back, quick service and friendly staff and the food was amazing. My partner enjoyed everything we ordered and the steak was amazing.

Always good, Loetje It was a bit too cold

I've never been there, but I was looking for a steakhouse. Well, as an older young person, the prices really shocked me.

It's unbelievable how you're being taken advantage of here. The portions at Loetje Oost are truly ridiculous compared to those in the city center. Check out the photos: the sparsely filled plates are from Oost, the full plates at Amsterdam Centraal. How can they serve such tiny portions and charge €21.50 for them? The differences are absurd. On top of that, the wait for the food was incredibly long, and it had regular rice instead of sushi rice. Stay away from this location.

The good part is their Steaks are great. However they serve it with nothing but plain bread! Service is something they don’t both I guess as we had to wait for an hour for the table after making a reservation and a lot more other issues.

My partner and I had dinner there last night and it was delicious! The service was incredibly fast and the food was excellent. The meat was amazing! I highly recommend it.

We regularly visit Loetje and are usually very satisfied with the service, at least at other locations. Unfortunately, our experience at this one was downright disappointing and scandalous. Three of us were seated at a table for two, because, according to a staff member, there were many reservations. Even though we had made our reservations in advance. When we politely addressed this, the manager reacted extremely rudely and seemed primarily out to get his point across. This behavior doesn't reflect the hospitality and professionalism we've come to expect from Loetje. It's a shame, because this kind of experience really detracts from the good image of the other locations. If you were the first to come here, I would never return. I have only two words for the manager: self-righteous and disrespectful! We left without eating.

A good restaurant, but overpriced for what it offers. One suggestion: put noise-reducing pads under the chair legs.

Very nice place with great rooms and nice furnishing and colours. Very nice waitresses. Great wines and beers. Well fried meet (tenderloin) but the presentation was horrible. As a former cook I cannot understand how they are thinking when they are satisfied with serving the meet alone with the gravy this way. Like you fry a single small piece of meet for yourself for eating in front of the tv when you dont have anything else at home in the fridge. But the medium rare meat had good quality. Feeling sorry the the owner of the restaurant.

The food was delicious. Much better than our experience on Ferdinand Bolstraat. The service was also excellent. Bijhok's atmosphere leaves a lot to be desired. It feels a bit like a caravan.

We had dinner last Sunday, Loetje is always good. But what if I order my favorite steak Bali and they tell me it can't be made because they don't have sambal in stock? Seriously, I thought it was a joke, but it wasn't. I even offered to go to the local supermarket and get a jar of sambal for them... For the record, we were there for lunch and only 4-5 tables were occupied. So, anything but a packed restaurant. Sorry, but the comment/explanation below makes no sense.

What a delicious steak. Just right. Incredibly delicious.

Because we'd been here before, it was close by, and we were craving a steak, we ended up here. I also thought it was a small, cozy restaurant, but we were allowed to sit in the back, which wasn't nearly as cozy as the one near the bar and front door. When the young lady launched into the menu, I almost wanted to get up and leave, but I stayed. The steak was delicious, as was the gravy, which is, of course, their signature dish. But no more using your menu as a frisbee.

It was probably the best meat I’ve ever had. The service was fast, people were friendly. We tried the classic and garlic sauce with the beef, both were tasty. For side dish we had sweet potatoes and grilled vegetables. And dessert trio chocolate. All the food was delicious. Thanks ☺️

The steak and cocktails tasted delicious!

Okay, so basically, I went yesterday to Luchier, where they're famous for their tenderloin in slaw with this little gravy that it's served with, and the problem is the waiter got the order for the two tenderloins, me and my friends, and he asked, do you want it medium rare? Which was their advice, obviously. And we said yes. Eventually, they bring us one medium rare and one well-done piece of tenderloin, so I send back mine. I get barely any apologies for the inconvenience, because now my sides are getting cold while I'm waiting 15 minutes for this new piece of meat to be served, and while my friend is eating in the meantime, alone, because my food is not there. So I get the other piece, and now this piece of meat, it's freaking cold in the middle. Almost barely cooked in the middle, but most importantly, like refrigerator cold. So they clearly did a poor job of cooking this second piece of meat. I tell the waiter, again, same thing happens, barely any apologies, takes the food back in the kitchen. This time, however, an older waiter comes to the table shouting in Dutch, with the same plate I had just sent back, asking me to cut it open, because he wanted to see how cooked it was. That left me really confused. But eventually, after a short interaction, I agreed to cut it open so the cook can see how much should he cook it. And he brings it back to the kitchen, and eventually brings it back to the table. And now again, it's not well done, but it's also not the medium rare I originally asked for, because it's now instead of one thick tenderloin, it's two thinner pieces of meat, which is not the dish I wanted, and it's more cooked than what I asked for. And after all of this, and barely any apology, if nothing, they didn't even give me a discount on anything. This place came highly recommended, but I'm never going to go there again. I also work in hospitality, and will not recommend this to anybody.

I ordered Nicoise salad and it was made with real grilled tuna ❤️ Next time will try their steaks, they smelled and looked amazing.

It was very quiet, it was during Sail, and we couldn't make a reservation at the central station. We arrived a little later, and two others joined us. They said small fries and a small salad, but we couldn't finish it.

A lovely restaurant with friendly, multilingual staff, including Dutch. I was a bit put off by the parking garage, but Loetje couldn't help that. P.S. The restrooms are always spotlessly clean too!

The taste of the meat was good and the presentation was good. We were satisfied.

The service here made typical bad Dutch service look good. We were seated quickly, given menus and ordered drinks but to order food the waiter did not come back for 40 minutes…we had already walked to the bar and ordered with the bartender after 25 minutes of waiting. The waiter acted a little insulted when he finally came over and we told him we ordered a while ago at the bar. The food was amazing as always but the service alone will make me not come back to this Loetje location

Delicious steak. Plenty of gravy to dip your bread in. It's a shame the meal didn't come with any vegetables. You have to order them separately.

The food and service are excellent, but the fact that Loetje doesn't offer a child-sized alternative with a certificate for gastric bypass surgery is outdated! It would be fair, though, because even 150 grams is too much if you've had gastric bypass surgery. Plenty of restaurants offer alternatives.

I've been coming here for years, and it's DELICIOUSLY GOOD! Balinese steak, a fresh salad, and some bread. What else do you need?

Our evening at Loetje Oost (@loetje_restaurant) allowed us to discover one of Amsterdam’s culinary legends! 🍽️ Started in 1977 by Ludwig “Loetje” Klinkhamer as a billiards café in Oud-Zuid, Loetje has now become a favorite among steak lovers with over 30 branches across the Netherlands. 🍔 Loetje Oost impressed us with its location close to the Wibautstraat metro stop and its modern, spacious ambiance. Wooden details, warm lighting, and large windows create a welcoming yet cozy atmosphere. The spacious terrace close to the IJ River is a real treat for summer evenings! 🌅 Don’t go without a reservation, as this popular spot gets packed in the evenings.⠀ We started our meal with Loetje’s famous bitterballen. 😋 They only have a beef version; these crispy balls, which come in a serving of 6, are prepared with beef thickened with roux. Crispy on the outside, juicy on the inside and incredibly delicious; a true appetizer feast! We ordered sweet potato fries, but after a slight mix-up, the regular fries arrived first. 🙈 The waiters quickly rectified the situation and brought our sweet potato fries; the service was fast and friendly. 👏⠀ For the main course, we tried Loetje’s legendary steaks: steak with classic gravy and steak with sambal gravy (Bali). The steak with classic gravy was a work of art! 🥩 Loetje’s 45-year-old special “jus” sauce matched the meat perfectly; we couldn’t help but dip the white bread on the side into it. 😍 However, the steak with sambal sauce was a complete disappointment. 😕 The sauce was overly salty, and the salt seeped into the meat; it was really difficult to eat. We definitely do not recommend the steak with sambal sauce. 🙅‍♂️⠀ Overall, we had a delightful evening at Loetje Oost, enjoying its ambiance, service, and delicious food. 🥂 The venue is easily accessible by public transportation, but parking is a bit limited. Great lunch spot in the neighborhood, service was fast

30072025::17:11 Loetje Oost This needlessly extravagant treat—a Loetje goat’s cheese salad and a couple of Belgian beers on a windy Wednesday afternoon—feels so tone deaf in the current climate. You know? I disgust myself. I’m sitting here like a fat prince on a giant cushion; like a Greek Emperor in a field full of virgins; or like of one of those filthy sociopathic toads on Paedophile Island. I make myself sick. But then I’m also working hard, and in my way I’m trying to improve the lot of my fellow human, and … well, it’s moments like these that make me want to keep going, frankly. It is indulgent, yes. And I shall continue to flagellate myself as I enjoy it. I’ve been here before, a couple of times, but once, many years ago, I had an important moment here with a salad. Amen. And so I came here today, hoping, dreaming that I might—at best—recreate it. Alas, no… Mere tawdry reenactment was not to be. Instead, we have reached new heights of salad-based ecstasy. Put the world on hold. It’s salad big-up time. Goat’s cheese salads come in an infinite variety of formats. I think this is my favourite. First up, the salad is great. Lots of variety. (Not like the one-leaf pony I had the other day at the Seafood Bar. Or the Crouton Cacophony at De Groene Paleis.) Great variety here: lettuce, tomato, cucumber, red onion, a few unnameable leaves, bunch of seeds, and only a small amount of toasted bread, all topped with three dirty great slices of heated goat’s cheese and honey. Plus Affligem Belgisch, which … my God. This was one of the best meals I’ve had in months and …. ahhhhhh. Yes. Of course. After a two-month absence, I’m once more enjoying the herb. As well as a very short while ago. So that may account for a soupcon of my overwhelming enthusiasm. But trust me: I eat salads all over this town. And this—Loetje Oost, is—as of this moment—the greatest goat’s cheese salad in Amsterdam. And that’s official.* Also, this was just said, as the dish was cleared… Me: “That … was exceptional.” Waiter (stone-faced): “Is there anything I can do about it?” Me: “Bring me another!” It was a good moment. Sharing a laugh with Dutch service personnel is often an uphill struggle, but we nailed it. I was still revelling in the gezelligheid from our shared moment when … he brought me another. Just kidding. But if he had, I’d have eaten it. Gladly. Plus: excellent waiter—good fun, competent and sufficiently attentive/excellent crème brulee and Irish coffee, my God, I should be whipped. Delicious coffee! I recommend this place

The food was tasty, the service was good, the atmosphere was just less than other Loetjes.

We took some business partners here as Loetje has a reputation to be good. They liked it. We had burrata, croquettes and steak off course. Small sidenote of improvement. The steak was wonderfully soft but the sauce was really salty. The service was indeed a bit with an Amsterdam flair and could be a touch nicer, but the overall experience was good.

We had an amazing lunch at Loetje Oost today! We have ordered steaks with mushrooms and onions. And a soup as appetiser. The portions were really good, food very tasty and the service friendly and fast. We will come here again next time we are in Amsterdam for sure. Thank you Loetje team!

Everything was sooooo good. The stake was so good and flavorful Mushrooms were delicious and I don’t wanna talk about the green beans cause they were AMAZING. Fries were so good too. Come and you won’t be disappointed and last but not last try the house beer. 100/100

Got food poisoning from underheated previously cooked liver on Sat 17 May in an otherwise empty restaurant at about 6pm.

Had dinner here since a friend recommended the steak. The atmosphere was good, the service was tentative. Starters and side also yummy. I did think the steak was a bit too small and also the sauce was too greasy for my liking. But am sure that’s how they usually make it and people love it. Just not for me.

It is not nice to make them wait in front of the desk even though there is a reservation. The meat and snacks were very delicious. The steak with Bali sauce, fried mushrooms, fried onions and chicken liver were very delicious.

Steak 🥩 so and so (even though it’s historically known in Ams), the gravy is amazing but the BREAD to use to dip it?!! What the hell? Better quality white baguette instead of toastie bread too expensive to provide? 🫣

Very inattentive service. We arrive on time but are asked to wait at the bar. No big deal, if it weren't for the fact that no one bothers to ask us if we would like something to drink. Later, when we are brought to our table, it takes at least half an hour, despite waving and trying to make contact, before we get a menu. Other tables are being served in the meantime. After waiting ages before someone comes to take our orders, we decide to leave anyway. In the meantime, we have paid 35 euros for 2 beers and a few snacks... sorry Loetje, your famous steak is not worth being treated so badly. Not anymore!

El filete era sabroso y de buena calidad y la preparación medio rara era perfecta. Añadí las setas y también una ensalada lateral que tenía huevo y tomates frescos y un aderezo tipo mostaza de miel. Muy recomendable y una buena relación calidad-precio en comparación con los asadores de Estados Unidos. También probamos el Bitterballen, que era sabroso.

Our food was incredibly flavourful however the beef was more on the well done rather than medium side. Service was prompt and efficient, and delicious experience overall.

Went there with my family but sadly we were very disappointed. Incredibly slow service even tho the restaurant was pretty empty. We had to come up to the counter for our order to be taken.

They cannot cook steak. Steaks are only made rare. They are burnt outside and raw inside. Several people sent back their meat to kitchen, but it was still raw.

Very busy, delicious food, tenderloin was great! If necessary, warm up the plates afterwards because your food will get cold quickly. Delicious coffees and desserts.

Very nice experience. The tournedos, their signature dish, is just perfect, served in its sauce. And the chicken livers on the side are a pleasant surprise. The atmosphere is cozy, I had a very pleasant time.

3 stars – More steak than wow Loetje is fast, loud and meat-loving – perfect for fans of steak, but less so for everyone else. The waiting time was pleasantly short and the service was quick. Taste-wise, everything was solid, but not really impressive. Okay for a quick family meal – next time it could be a little more varied.

Disappointing reservation service. I booked a table online for 9.15PM on the official website, and received a voice mail mentioning that kitchen was closing at 9PM (not even an official email with the cancellation). I had already planned my trip accordingly and ended up needing to find another restaurant, check out the kitchen times before going there!

We come in, the waiter tells us that there is no table available right now but we can wait on the side and order drinks. That's fine for us so we immediately order 4 pints of beer to the waiter and go wait near the bar. We wait for 10 minutes and nothing. So we ask the bartender about our 4 pints (who by the way seems completely lost and not sure what he's doing the whole time). Bartender says he's busy with some drinks but he will do the pints in a bit. 15 minutes later we ask again and the bartender says the machine to pour beer is not working right now. Wtf? Why not just tell us earlier or give us beers in a bottle instead? We wasted half an hour waiting for nothing. We left to go somewhere else. Do better!

Lovely outside setting! Mediocre food. We've tried 2 different starters, 2 different main dishes, fries and 2 desserts. It was okay for a chain. Our medium rare was more like well done. Even the restaurant was not full, it was hard to catch attention of waitresses

Without a reservation they had a nice table for us. Unexpected 5th person was no problem. Marcel is a very nice host who treated us all with respect and pleasure! Big 10!

Food as always more than sufficient to good. The sweet attentive Bulgarian waitress was this time the icing on the cake. For someone like that you keep coming back. Top!

Delicious meal! We have appetizer, steak and desert. All was perfect. Friendly atmosphere, nice staff. I recommend making a reservation.

We had a great lunch here. The food is excellent and the service is very friendly.

We were recommended this place by a tour guide who was a local, but we were slightly disappointed unfortunately. We ordered the steaks with fries and mushrooms, however everything was very cold and we felt underwhelmed especially as our bill for 2 mains, 2 sides and 2 drinks was €80. The waitress was lovely and friendly but sadly we won’t be coming back.

We went to Amsterdam for a vacation with friends and went to this restaurant. Interior very nice flat good nothing incredible but it remains good reasonable price and dog accepted. I won't go back there because I live 900 km away and it's a shame the staff is very friendly.

Great restaurant for drinks with friends and family (sat down based) or steak! The restaurants' a lot bigger than expected as theres a lot of tables inside. Ordered: loteje lemonade, loetje beer, classic steak in garlic, and classic steak with onions, bacons, and chicken liver and sweet potatoe fries. 1. Loetje lemonade: mango based. I can taste more mango than lemon - not very lemonade. Decent and good if you dont like too sour drinks. 2. Steak with garlic: AMAZING! The steak wasn't dry at all, even though it was very lean. Meat was tender, and the garlic sauce was just amazing. A bit salty but pairs great with the sweet potatoe fries and the bread. Steak was more on the medium rare side (not sure if you had a choice on how well done you'd like it as they never asked). 3. Steak with everything: not as saucy. Comes with 4-5 large chunks of chicken liver as well as a lot of short bacon strips and onions. Steak was equally as nice, but for some reason, the steak came as 2 separate chunks rather than 1 large chunk. This steak was slightly more well done than the garlic one as this was more medium. 4. Sweet potatoe fries: nice and crispy on the outside but soft on the inside. Overall, I preferred the garlic one as it had a lot more sauce. I enjoyed the chicken liver but would probably order it as a side rather than part of the steak.

We kwamen voor de kalfslever. Er was geen kalfslever en het was toch zaterdagavond. We hadden gereserveerd maar eigenlijk hadden we meteen weg moeten gaan naar jullie filiaal in de ferdinand bolstraat. De knoflookbiefstuk was op koude jus gelegd en smaakte daardoor vies vettig. Ik was erg teleurgesteld omdat ik mijn zoon een plezier wilde doen door hem mee te nemen naar loetje.

Ended up here for lunch after a visit to Carré. The drinks were taken and then the waiting started... Even though it wasn't busy, it really took too long for the drinks to be delivered. The lunch itself was fine. Disturbing that the staff kept leaving the door open every time they brought in new stock on this chilly day.

Such an amazing restaurant! The food, the steak in particular, was so good. The staff were so friendly and accommodated us on a Saturday night without a booking. Really well priced considering how good the food was!

Dear Loetje Oost, I have just left you very disappointed. The kitchen has been closing earlier involuntarily for a number of months now. We ran into this problem last time, but it was still possible as long as we kept eating. I then asked further and the kitchen would close at 9:30 PM. Today after a long work day I wanted to eat something quickly. I hurried to make it to the 9:15 pm, in time for the kitchen. I also called along the way, but then you get Loetje's general number. But it turned out that the kitchen was closed again. My apologies for walking away angry. I intend not to come back to you again and I really think that's a shame because the food and the concept are good. Eating a good steak quickly.

Literally just finished my dessert and writing this. Such a lovely restaurant. The steak is amazing. The service was very warm and welcoming. And the chocolate sauce with the ice cream was sensational. Absolutely recommend

After a work event, we visited Loetje Oost with colleagues and a business partner to try their famous steak. The steak was incredible—juicy, perfectly cooked, and full of flavor. The service was nice and added to the overall enjoyable experience.

An incredibly cozy place! A warm and typical atmosphere. We experienced a spectacular salmon sandwich! Highly recommended

We had dinner at Loetje with a large group because of our son's graduation. We had a lovely table in the beautiful restaurant. The friendly staff had everything under control. The 17! meals were all on the table at the same time, so we could start at the same time. We had a delicious meal and had nothing to complain about.

This is probably one of the best steaks I have ever. For sure you must check out the chain if you are in Amsterdam. We ordered a medium size garlic steak. The steaks come with a stack of white bread for dipping and enjoying the big plate of sauce that is served with the steak. We also ordered two starters for the table, cheese plater and the carpaccio both were good. All things had it there was amazing.

We had brunch there, so delicious. I recommend the avocado toast with salmon and poached eggs. Yummy matcha ! Loved everything, the service was everything, even though it was rush hour. I would recommend to book in advance, avoids the wait to be seated!

You would ask, what a vegan will do in a meat house. Well I was with my friends, all of which are eating meat. I tried to order something vegan, without success. Yes they have a vegan steak, but guess what. It is prepared with butter, nonsense for me. The waiter was kind enough to try to help me find something on the menu. At the end I just drank 2 beers while my friends were eating their stakes.
